Chapter 6

The Moon and New Surroundings

"The ship has safely landed on the moon, we are at our distination" the intercom announced. Just then Carlos and i heard what sounded like a door opening "Please not be the door to the outside! We do not have our oxygen tanks on yet!" i heard Carlos say. I must admit i was a little worried myself as we humans cannot breath in space and our spacesuits and helmets would not be complete with out oxygen tanks to help us breath in space. "Do you think its safe to undo our seatbelts" i asked Carlos hoping that he would man up and get out of his chair to investiage the sound but before he even responded to me the intercom spoke again "Please find your oxygen tanks in the open cupboard towards the left side of the ship, it is space to undo your seat belts but please keep your helmets on". Yay! I shouted as both Carlos and i undid our tight seat belts. Gravity then took its que and we both started to float around again "I love gravity!" i said to Carlos "Me too DA! I missed being in space!". We could see the cupboard that contained the oxygen tanks, they too began to float around "Looks like we are going to have to catch them, come here you!" said Carlos as he was floating upside down. Suddenly there was a beeping sound and the arms appeared again "What now?" i asked as observed what was happening. From what i could see the arms what straight passed us and headed towards the tanks "I think they might be helping us" Carlos then observed "Think you might be right" i answered back to him. The arms took hold of the tanks and bought them towards us "Here please let me help you get equipped with your oxygen tanks" the intercom announced "How is that going to happen?" Carlos asked. Then before we could even say the word "Space" we both felt the oxygen tanks being placed on our backs and they were magically being connected to our helmets and spacesuits. We then felt the oxygen flowing through our helmets in order for us to breath "At least we know that they work" stated Carlos. Another beeping sound was summonded and the intercom spoke again"and now the moment you have been waiting for, time for you to explore the moon!". "Carlos this is so exciting" i was so excited at this point, i just couldn't keep myself still. The door that we entered in behind our seats (which now looked like a shaft) had a red light blinking above it "Please make your way towards the shaft" the intercom continued. "Ahhh thats going to take awhile" i hear Carlos say, he was right we were being carried around by gravity. Suddenly the arms that were still around after equipping us with our oxygen tanks grabbed us and moved the both of us towards the shaft that opened up for us. As we were placed in the shafted we could see another door with a tiny window on it. The door behind us closed tight, we were trapped but we didn't think it was for too long. It was an airshaft and our gateway to space! "The door will open in 10 seconds" we could even hear the intercom through the airshaft! "10, 9, 8, 7, 6" Carlos and i held on to each other as we heard the count down, i closed my eyes just for fun "5, 4, 3, 2, 1" the intercom continued. BING, BING, DING DONG! i heard the door to the moon open! "DA, open your eyes!" i said to me and i still had my eyes closed but i was smiling "Ok, hear it goes!"

"WOOOOOWWWWW!" Carlos and i shouted together, this had to be real. Nothing much had changed since the last time we were here all those years ago but before we could even make a step the intercom spoke once more "You have 30 minutes until we continue our adventure, please enjoy". The moment the intercom stopped speaking, Carlos and i looked at each other and instead of stepping out of the ship we leaped out "How we go!" i shouted! We had gravity on the moon too but not as bad as what we had on the ship we could at least touch the ground for a moonwalk "One small step for man, this is awesome!" Carlos shouted in enjoyment, i laughed i too was having so much fun. We bounced and bounced all over making footprints from our boots all over the place. One of things that had always been my favourite was seeing our Earth in the distance. Ohhhhh how beautiful it looked, we were defiantly not on Earth anymore. Carlos bounced himself beside me "Do you think we should collect some rocks for Arnold?" he asked me, i smiled "Oh Carlos, we could but please do not do a Janet and collect stuff from each planet like the first time we came to outer space!". Carlos remembered what happened but still decided to collect a rock or two for Arnold "Your right DA, maybe just 1 or 2 and only from the moon" he then stated. Then it just occurred to me, we were having such a wonderful time that we didn't even observe the appearance of our spaceship. The last time we saw the outside of it, well it was just a door in a wall at the space muesum back home. Now looking at it, its was white, tall and had wings all the normal things you would normally see on the outside of a rocketship. I saw Carlos bounce towards it, the door to the shaft to get back inside was still open "You've had enough already Carlos?" i shouted to him "Gosh now! I just want to feel the outside of the rocket, just to see that it is real, for we know this could all be a dream". He did have a point, i did wonder could this all be a dream? I certainly hope not! Everything just seemed too real! Weird but real, esspecially since we could see that there was magic involved. "What does it feel like Carlos?" i asked him "Hard! Its real" Carlos then answered back to me.

I looked around to continue to observe our new surroundings. The stars out here were beautiful, i could still even see the sun shining in all its glory. It was just a big round ball, almost the size of a tennis ball when viewing it from the moon. Though the view of the stars here were lovely, from memory the best place to few them is on Pluto but whether or not we will get there or not that is the question. Pluto is no longer casted as a planet but now referred to as a Dwalf Planet. From memory there was info about it in one of my books i had with me but it was still in the ship. I just had to remind myself to check it when we return.

Just then a loud beep occurred that was coming from the space shuttle "You 30 minutes is up, please return to the rocket" the intercom shouted, it sounded like it was using a very loud speaker as it was very loud. "Owwwwwwww" Carlos and i both shouted as we were having a great time on the moon once again. We both bounced back towards the rocket, making our while back to the airshaft "Hey Carlos, weren't we meant to be educated about the moon while we were here?" i asked him "Guess it was a malfunction or that we didn't have an actual teacher here to teach us" he then responded. We managed to get oursleves back into the airshaft as the door to the moon shut quickly behind us cutting us off from the world outside "Welcome back DA & Carlos, hope you enjoyed your visit to the moon" the intercom said as it spoke kindly to us. The door to the inside of the space shuttle then opened to reveal once again a control room and 2 seats for two passengers "Nothing has changed here, still a space shuttle!" i said out loud. "You sound disappointed DA?" as Carlos tapped me on the shoulder "Oh no i'm not disapointted, i just wasn't sure what to expect as today so far has been out of this world!"
