"Hookfang, if you'll burn it, I'll burn you with it."

"Come on! Since when you're such a great chef?"

The two boys, Tobias and James, took their place in the first's kitchen, just by the cooker. The owner of the house was sprinting from the fridge to the countertop and stove, where he glared at Hookfang, same fumed as annoyed.

After the red-haired teenager rolled his eyes at him, Toothless did the same, and with that got a better view of his house. There were a few golden decorations on the walls, the table was set in the center, covered by dishes, and on TV was playing a canal with music.

Leering back at James, Tobias's blood boiled at the sight of him, surfing through his phone. "I may not be the chef, but if I'm doing something, I'm doing it right," he clarified, snatching a phone from Hookfang's hand, whose brows knitted. "Finish cooking and you'll get it back," he added, hiding the device in his pocket.

"Asshole," Hookfang muttered under his nose, tensing his shoulders, and focusing on the boiling pot. "Why do we torment ourselves so much anyway? It's not like we need so much food!"

"You wanted me to host the new year's Eve, so that's what you get," Toothless declared, peeking inside the oven. "Stop moaning, you agreed to help me."

"Yes, because otherwise, you would complain that nobody is helping you, et cetera," Hookfang stated and hummed. "Like a mother," he snorted, smirking at the black-haired teenager. "In that exact moment, you became the mother of the group, but the same way you didn't, because you are, well, you. What a paradox!"

"It's a shame you aren't so smart in school," Tobias snickered, narrowing when James showed him his middle finger.

Consequently, Toothless glanced back into the living room, and hence, on the center table. Imagining the people gathered there, talking, laughing, being noisy, his head spun and his forehead creased. Afterward, he looked upright, resisting his palms on his neck, and sighed.

"I don't want to do this."

"Here we go."

"I don't have the energy to listen to those wishes, these new year's Eve and birthday ones, any of them, actually. It's monotonous."

"Yes," Hookfang crooned, raising his brow at him while leering at him. "Getting one's best wishes and presents. What a nightmare."

"I don't need gifts, at least not the ones that will look like yours."

"What's wrong with my present?!"

"It's lack," Toothless teased and gave James a once-over. "Two bottles of vodka? Seriously?"

"One for the birthday and one for the new year," Hookfang reasoned and grumbled, pouting. "I don't want to worry you, but given today's date you'll only receive alcohol."

"Yay," Tobias groaned, stroking his eyelids. "At least stay away, with that ambrosia, from Hiccup."

"Speaking of which, when is he going to sleep?"

"In an hour. Why do you ask?" Toothless questioned and peered at James, curious.

Catching the glimpse of him, he witnessed the red-haired teenager's eyes to be focused on the center of the living room. Afterward, he peered there and detected Hiccup on the ground, playing with two dragon toys, with one of them rubbing his eyes while yawning.

"Well, maybe in fifteen minutes then."

"No way, man! It's his first-,"

"Don't finish that sentence, or I will strangle you!" Tobias warned and glowered at James, suddenly. "Also, if you're so interested in dealing with a sleepy baby, you may try it, however, I don't recommend it."

"No, thank you," Hookfang responded and sighed, leaning on the countertop. "I like life."

"That's what I thought."

Narrowing his eyes at James mockingly, Tobias's shoulders tensed suddenly, when inside the apartment burst two familiar and hated figures, who brought with them the racket of their horns. Subsequently, he squirmed his eyes and it wasn't a moment before both twins moved toward him, wearing mysterious grins.

"Toothless! Our birthday beast! Happy birthday!" Belch exclaimed, bringing Tobias into a bear hug which he didn't back, and patted his back, before moving away, shoving the gift bag in between them. "I hope you'll like it."

Sticking his eye on them, Tobias lifted his brow, before glancing inside the present. "Four bottles of vodka. What a surprise!" He ironized, showing his teeth and faking a smile. "Thank you, very much."

"We knew you would love it," Barf cajoled, pouting, while his eyes gleamed with a tease. "Only the best for you, honey."

"By the way, I almost forgot," Belch began, taking the two bottles from the bag. "These will go on the table," he reasoned, simpering and moving to mentioned furniture.

After him, another two bottles took Barf, also. "And these two will go next to the couch, as a spare," he explained and his mouth curved into a smile before he went after his brother.

Tobias's sight was traveling from these two to the inside of the bag blinking and he walked to James, passing him the empty bag. "So, that's all I got from them this year," he grumbled and Hookfang sniggered, dumping the package beside. "Remind me to give them for their birthday that old, broken, Hiccup's pacifier."

"Honestly, I think it'll be still one dollar more expensive than this one," James summed up and chuckled, when Tobias groaned, soundly.

Immediately after the room was surrounded by knocking and through the main door's gap peeked inside Sarah. "Hey, am I late?" She whisper-shouted, grinning anxiously.

Gazing at his watch Toothless shook his head. "You're just at the time," he answered, stepping forward toward her, while she slipped inward.

"Good, good," Stormfly mumbled, taking off her jacket and simunatously handing him a paper bag. "I hope you like it."

"It'll be better from twins no existing one, for sure," Tobias replied, and glancing inside the present he inhaled, soundly. "Sarah, I love you. If at some point you'll break up with James, know that I'm available for you."

"Hey!" Hookfang barked, gritting his teeth. "Too far."

"He says so because he knows that's the truth," Toothless whispered to Stormfly and led her inside the living room, where she was welcomed by squealing Hiccup, who crawled to her. "We both thank you, for the gift."

"Why would Henry be grateful for your gift?" Barf inquired, leaning on the back of the chair by the table. "Also, what's so great about that present anyway?"

"Happy parent, happy child. The golden rule works both ways," Tobias clarified, straightening and raising his chin. "And about the present, the fact of its presence is a big positive, already."

"Alright, alright. We didn't get you a present," Belch groaned, rolling his eyes, "but for our defense, we're preparing the large surprise for Hiccup's birthday. We must have saved some money."

"Whatever that surprise is I'm scared, already," Toothless droned, stroking his forehead. "For your information, I got a shirt and perfume. Did I notice it right?"

"Yes, but also an electric razor at the bottom," Sarah replied, taking Hiccup into her arms, while Tobias pressed his lips together, fighting a smile. "Is little Hiccup ready to sleep?" She asked, when Henry snuggled into her neck, tired.

"He is, and if you would like to, you might put him to sleep," Toothless reacted, leaning over her to stroke Hiccup's head, but simultaneously glancing at her. "Could you?"

"Of course! I'll get on it!" Stormfly announced, beaming widely and moving with the baby in her arms into the bedroom.

Gazing in her direction Tobias sniggered, jerking his head at James. "You'd better look after yourself, otherwise me and Henry may steal your girl," he chuckled, while Hookfang tapped his forehead with a pointing finger, irritated.

Eventually, while little time passed there was a newcomer, that happened to be Martha, this time. "Hey, happy new year, every-," she began, taking off her winter clothing.

"Meatlug!" Belch interrupted and clapped his hands together, once. "There! The team once again, together!" He announced, opening his arms, and encompassing the surroundings. "Long time passed since the last time we were alone in that company."

"What a loss," Toothless mocked, pouring, and moved to Martha, helping her out in the hall. "Have you taken the dog?"

"No, I haven't," she answered, lifting a brow at him. "Anyway, happy birthday," she wished, shoving the present package to him.

"Thank you," he reacted and smirked. "Although the greatest gift is the fact you didn't take that virus carrier."

Precisely when Meatlug drew together her brows at him, Toothless was called by Sarah, and because of that he smiled innocently, shrugged, and hurried to the bedroom. Carefully, he pushed the door, and witnessing the sight in front of him, he leaned on the door frame, grinning.

In his pajama, Hiccup sat on the bed, with his eyes welled up, while next to him Stormfly stroked his head gently, leering at Tobias, swiftly. The mentioned man hooked his head and chuckled, sympathetic.

"You can't pull into sleep?"

"It's harder than it seems," she confided, leaning over Henry and tilting her head at him. "Don't you want to go to sleep with Auntie, cutie pie?"

"Dadyy!" Hiccup wailed and pulled his arms toward his dad.

At the movement, Stormfly awed, and Tobias stepped forward and kneeled before the bed. "Let me handle it, Sarah. There is a long night before him, and it'd be better not to argue with him," he excused, taking Hiccup into his arms.

"Right, but next time I'll the one to put him to sleep."

"If he agrees, then sure," he chuckled, afterward Sarah grinned, going to the door, and while she disappeared behind them Tobias peeked at Hiccup, narrowing his eyes. "You need to behave better around her. We might lose our chance," he whispered and sighed when Henry twinkled at him. "However, do we really need her? I'm sure we're food on our own, right?" He concluded, kissing Hiccup's temple.

After that, Tobias laid two of them down on the bed, and it wasn't even a while when Hiccup dozed off, soundly. Like always, Toothless had been observing Henry, and his peaceful state, until he noticed his arm being pressed by the little's boy head.

Hissing, as carefully as possible, Tobias took out the limb, but unsuccessfully. Henry's eyes opened rapidly, they blinked, and after he yawned he laid one more.

Subsequently, Toothless exhaled, relieved, and after making sure Hiccup slept, he stood up and moved toward the door. In a door frame, Tobias glanced in Henry's direction, beamed at him, and left, leaving the infant in the silence of the cozy bedroom.

The party went on fast, but that wasn't much of a surprise. Fortunately, there weren't a lot of people- besides the usual group there joined only Sleuther with Windshear, but also Teddy. While the loudness was a little much, Tobias agreed to it, hoping that the volume would keep up with the rest of the night.

Despite the fact, not all of them were enjoying the circumstances, they kept the fun as calm as possible. The most of event was spent at the table, with the TV playing the most popular songs, talking, and drinking, of course.

It wasn't long before Hookfang proposed the game, on whose name Toothless's head spun. That was the same one the group had a chance of playing in the summer, which they invented, and the one that was the reason for their neighbors' hate.

The rules didn't change, either you drink or do a dare. Suddenly, the world turned upside down, to the point they must have added the new rules, so as not to wake up sleeping Hiccup.

Obviously, the rules were invented by the father of the mentioned child, that happened to be also the owner of the place, making it rather impossible to avoid them. They banned any loud clangor and because of this, they got to a compromise, by which whoever was noisy, lose.

Thus, the whole apartment was encircled by the strange silence, where audible was only a TV, but also held back laughter, that changed into snorts. First to go was Hookfang, the game's inventor, but also the only volunteer to begin.

His dare went from Belch, who encouraged him into standing on his arms, without either poking or falling to the ground. Snapping his fingers, James got to the job, half-sober preparing himself on the floor, and did the request, falling with his legs on the couch, afterward arguing with the twins if the task was successful.

Afterward, the second to go was Sleuther who was told to sing I will always love you by Hookfang, for nostalgia. Unfortunately for him, Simon did a better than an amazing job, and after hearing that in comparison to it, his singing sounded like pig wailing he fell silent, offended.

Next was Toothless, who got the question, rather than a dare as he stated, but he was forced into making a list, from the most liked to the least that was in the flat. Obviously, he attempted to outsmart them, saying that he hated everyone here just the same, but nobody would let him on that.

In the end, they agreed into changing the task, and Tobias was supposed to say the person he hated and liked the most. It happened to be a bad choice for the group either because Toothless responded without any shame- Hiccup and Belch.

Eventually, the task were becoming harder and harder. Stormfly must have licked the lemon from the table surface, Weronika was forced into knocking on the door of Tobias's random neighbor, Martha has eaten the spiciest sauce twins had brought, just so to prove her abilities, Barf had to explain each detail about Drag Queen, in one minute, so even Toothless would understand, and nobody dared to challenge Belch.

Ultimately, the clock showed the twelve fifty hours and almost everybody gathered, getting ready for a celebration. Before joining the others, Tobias swiftly peeked inside the bedroom, making sure his kid slept soundly, and after dispensing his doubts he came to others, just in time for the beginning of the new year.

The sounds of blowing fireworks were audible around the whole living room, there were kisses and hugs, but suddenly the booming wasn't the only clangor. Everyone glanced at the door of the bedroom, from where got out Hiccup's screams and wails of his dad's name.

Instantly, Toothless excused himself, frowned after James and the twins mocked him about his dadyy cry, and stepped inside the bedroom. "Hiccup, look out!" He warned, witnessing the little boy at the edge of the bed while trying to climb down from it. "Be careful, you may fall. Next time just wait for me."

Instead of a proper answer, Henry whimpered and Tobias moved closer to him and took him into his arms. Afterward, just as he snuggled him shaking, he gazed at him, fretting.

"What's going on? What's troubling you so much?"

Instantly, at the sound of another firework's blow, Hiccup yelped, tugging his hands onto Tobias's shirt, tightly. Observing so, Toothless stroked the back of his head and chuckled, softly.

"It's okay, those are only lights," he explained, and noticing that doesn't calm the little infant he pointed at the window. "Let me show you them," he added, stepping closer toward the glass covered by a curtain, at which Hiccup leaned back, startled. "Hey, there is nothing to be scared about," he reassured, grasping the curtain and revealing the sight behind them.

Subsequently, Hiccup's eyes widened at the view of flares of colors in the sky. Leaning forward, he pressed his hands against the glass, giggling and pointing at each of the sparkles. In meantime, Toothless gaped at his reaction, beaming, glimpsing the dark, green eyes that were glowing with happiness, but also a reflection of the bright sky.

"Happy new year, buddy," Tobias wished, embracing Henry tighter. ", and so that future would be only better for you."
