The Summer Adventure

It was a hot day on the Island Of Sodor. The people are enjoying themselves on the beach and enjoying themselves. Bertie the bus had fun dropping off the people at the beach and picking them up when it's time to for them to go home. Caroline the car also had a good time, too. Until she blew a gasket and Butch had to tow her to the repair yards.

Terence was also enjoying the summer heat, too. So is Trevor. Both the tractor and the traction engine did their works as well. Terence plowed his fields and Trevor uses his flywheel to power a saw machine.

"I've done this many times before," said Trevor to no one in particular. Jack and Alfie felt hot in the blistering heat. "I don't think I can move," said Alfie, "In case my engine overheats." "Me too," replied Jack.

Just then, Flynn the fire engine drove by the two. He stopped when he noticed that both vehicles were really hot. "Mind if I give you a refreshing shower?" Flynn asked Jack and Alfie.

"Sure," the two friends answered. So Flynn sprayed Jack and Aflie with his fire cannons. "Ah," sighed Jack, "That hit the spot." "Same here!" agreed Alfie. "There you go," said Flynn. He finished spraying Jack and Alfie and then left. But both friends remained in their current position.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth had stopped by the repair yards where Caroline was, having her engine checked repaired. "Gotten over-excited again, haven't you?" asked Elizabeth, cheekily. "Yeah," answered Caroline, "Ha, ha ha. Very funny. Well, it ain't funny if your engine overheats."

"I'm a steam lorry," replied Elizabeth, "I need the heat to work properly." "Oh, I see," Caroline replied, "Steam power. Figures." Elizabeth then left to continue her jobs for the day.

Hours later, Caroline had her engine repaired and she was back on the roads. "Let me start again," Caroline said to herself. Some minutes later, Caroline met up with Elizabeth, who was delivering some new engine parts to the Sodor Steamworks. "Hello again, Mrs. Breaking-Down," Elizabeth joked.

"Ugh," groaned Caroline. "Anyway, I must be off," Elizabeth said, "Can't keep the Steamworks waiting." Elizabeth sped by Caroline. "At least I'm not breaking down now!" Elizabeth called to Caroline. "You just wait," groaned Caroline. Caroline left as well.

After Elizabeth dropped off her loads, she ran into Caroline again.

"Hey, Elizabeth," Caroline said, "Or should I say 'never break down'?" "Just going on my way home," Elizabeth replied, "Not interesting in talking to you." "Why?" asked Caroline. "Because I have no interests in a car that breaks down easily!" Elizabeth replied rudely, "So see you later!" And so Elizabeth started to go.

"Now wait a minute!" Caroline called out, chasing after Elizabeth, "What gives you the right to make fun of me because I make a mistake?" "You're the mistake," Elizabeth replied unkindly, "And besides, it is not a right. I choose to talk to you, you old dinosaur!"

"What?!" cried Caroline, "You, you old smokestack on roads!" "What?!" replied Elizabeth, "How dare you?!" "No!" Caroline replied, "How dare you! You chuff around, covering everything in smoke!" "At least I don't break down easily!" replied Elizabeth huffily. The two began to argue.

However, the two road vehicles got too close to a weak ledge. It gave way and both Elizabeth and Caroline slid down the slope. "What's going on?!" cried Caroline. "We're sliding!" replied Elizabeth.

Fortunately, they both came to a stop. The two scanned their current surroundings. "Where are we?" asked Caroline.

"I'm not sure," answered Elizabeth. Then Elizabeth turned around to face the cliff that they were on. "What's this?" asked Elizabeth, looking at a cave embedded in the cliff, left of where they slid down from. "I'm not sure," answered Caroline, "But it looks like some kind of cave." "Let's take a look inside," suggested Elizabeth. She drove inside the cave.

"Wait, Elizabeth," Caroline called, "I don't think that's a good idea." But Elizabeth had already chuffed into the cave. Caroline chose not to go into the cave. All she could do is wait for Elizabeth to come out.

One hour passed. Caroline waited and waited. "What's going on in there?" she asked. Then suddenly, Caroline heard a honk from inside the cave. "Elizabeth!" she cried. Caroline raced into the cave.

Although there were multiple passageways inside the cave, Caroline listened. She'd follow the sound of Elizabeth's horn. The louder it gotten, the closer she got to Elizabeth. Soon, Caroline found Elizabeth. "Elizabeth!" Caroline said, "What happened?" "I've ran out of coal," Elizabeth explained, "I need help. But."

"No need!" Caroline said, "I'll get you out of here!" Then rocks began to fall. "Uh oh," Caroline whispered. "My honking has caused these tunnels to become unstable!" "Then let's go!" shouted Caroline. Immediately, her driver hitched a cable onto Elizabeth and Caroline pulled Elizabeth away in time just before the tunnel began to collapse.

Caroline had to race out of the cave before it's too late. In no time at all, Caroline pulled Elizabeth out of the cave system just as it collapsed. "That was close," sighed Caroline.

"Thanks for saving me," sighed Elizabeth with a relief. "No problem," Caroline said. Just then, Harold flew by. "What's going on down there?" he called to Elizabeth and Caroline.

"We've both fell down the cliff," answered Caroline, "We're all fine." "Stay there!" Harold called, "I'll go get help!" He flew off to get help. "Take your time!" Elizabeth called. Soon, Oliver and Kelly arrived to rescue Elizabeth and Caroline. In no time, both Elizabeth and Caroline were safely back on firm road. Also, Oliver gave Elizabeth more coal.

"Sorry about that," Elizabeth said to Caroline. "It's all right," replied Caroline. "I meat I'm sorry that I called you a breakdown car," Elizabeth said. "I understand," replied Caroline, "I forgive you."

"Thanks once again for saving me from that cave," said Elizabeth. "I'm glad to," smiled Caroline. "I hope you didn't burn out your engine doing so," Elizabeth said concerned, "I'd hate for that to happen to you again."

"Don't worry," giggled Caroline, "I'm fine this time." "That's good," smiled Elizabeth, "So?" "Let's be friends," said Caroline. "Right," agreed Elizabeth. The two friends set off for home together.

Meanwhile, Flynn drove by where Jack and Alfie remained all day. "Hmm," thought Flynn, "A quiet day for the two." "Can you give me a good spray?" Bertie asked Flynn. "Of course," smiled Flynn, and he did so. Later, Terence and Trevor approached Flynn.

"Can you give us a water shower, too?" they both asked Flynn. "Yep," answered Flynn. He sprayed both Terence and Trevor with water as well. "Wow, you two are sure dirty," said Flynn. "We've been busy," said Trevor.

Then Isobella drove past. "Aw, I want a bath, too!" she groaned. "You'll have to wait until tomorrow!" Madge said as she drove by. "Aw!" groaned Isobella.
