Murdoch And The Old Tower
One day, Murdoch was pulling a long heavy goods train through a nice peaceful valley. "Ah," sighed Murdoch, "Quiet." He was having such a good time that he didn't realized that the points were set to another track.
Murdoch ended up taking the other railway line. "Uh this isn't part of the schedule," Murdoch said. Nonetheless, he continued forward on. Then Murdoch puffed by an abandoned town.
"This looks typical," thought Murdoch as he chugged on by. But something immediately caught his attention. "What on earth?" Murdoch asked himself. The thing that caught his attention is an old tower.
"That's an old clock tower," Murdoch's driver said. "I see," said Murdoch. But then they came across a set of buffers. "Brakes, driver!" Murdoch called. The driver immediately stopped the train and Murdoch only touched the buffers as a result.
"Whew!" sighed Murdoch and his crew. "Dead end," sighed the driver, "We can't go back with the goods train." "I'll telephone for help," the guard said. Soon enough, Thomas arrived to help Murdoch back onto the main line. "Funny that you ended up in nowhere," Thomas said teasingly.
"Very funny, Thomas," sighed Murdoch, "Very funny indeed!" Soon Murdoch had returned to the main line and he continued on with his journey. But he couldn't stop thinking about the tower at the abandoned station.
"It never moved," thought Murdoch, "It's as if time stopped." Murdoch arrived at his destination a few minutes late. "Sorry," the driver said to the stationmaster, "We've taken a wrong turn by mistake." The stationmaster reprimanded Murdoch's crew in a stern tone of voice. "If only time would have stopped for us today," Murdoch said to himself.
The next day, Murdoch returned to the old town to see the old clock tower again. "I don't know why you want to come here again," his driver told him, "We were late yesterday."
"I know," said Murdoch, "I'm just curious." "About what?" asked the firemen. "About this clock tower," said Murdoch, "Look at the clock handle. It never turns. It's as if time stopped."
"You're right there, Murdoch," the driver said, "Because it's been abandoned for years. It had never once had a repair job since this town had been abandoned." "I understand," said Murdoch.
"Come on, Murdoch," said the driver, "Let's get back to work." So Murdoch left the town. Soon, Murdoch met up with Satsuki and Rebecca. Both were getting ready to leave with their passenger trains.
"Hello," said Rebecca. "Hi," said Murdoch. "What's going on?" asked Rebecca. "Oh, I saw a clock tower yesterday," Murdoch answered. "Oh," Rebecca replied, "Is it something special to you?"
"Not really," answered Murdoch, "I was just thinking of what would happen if time stopped." "I knew it," said Rebecca, "It's not working anymore, I guessed right. Murdoch, there's no way time will ever stop." "I know that," Murdoch said, "It's just that the thought is interesting to me."
"Well, that's good for you," Rebecca said as she left with her passenger train. "I'd never said I want time to stop forever," Murdoch said.
Later, Murdoch was on his way to collect a goods train. "I must make it there in time!" Murdoch said, speeding along the line, "I must!" "Whoa, boy!" his driver exclaimed, "Slow down, slow down! You're going to have an accident!" "Ok," agreed Murdoch as he slowed down.
Then trouble happened. Murdoch ran onto the unstable part of the track. The ground on the left side started to sink. "Uh oh," groaned Murdoch. It was too late to slow down completely.
The ground sank completely and thus, the rails failed and Murdoch turned over onto his left side. The driver and Firemen jumped out before Murdoch crashed to the ground on his side, sliding to a stop.
"Now you've done it!" the driver said, walking closer to the derailed engine. "Sorry," said Murdoch, "I really wished time had stopped." "Now I'll have to call for help," the driver said and he 's firemen stayed with Murdoch.
Soon, Harvey brought Rocky to pull Murdoch upright. The Fat Controller arrived as well. "Well, Murdoch," he said, "Next time, perhaps you could find the time for safety." "Sorry sir," said Murdoch, sadly.
"Another engine will take over for your goods train while you go to the Steamworks to be repaired," the Fat Controller said, "Okay?" "Yes," answered Murdoch.
"And by the way," the Fat Controller continued, "Thanks for finding another location on the Island. We'll start by getting that old clock tower working again. Maybe then you'll relax your imagination on "The time of the universe stops". All right?"
"Whatever you say, sir," Murdoch answered.
Days later, Murdoch had been repaired and returned to work. His first job is to take a train to the old town.
By now, the clock tower had been repaired and is now working. "There you go, Murdoch," said his driver, "Now time is not stopping." "Right," smiled Murdoch, "Actually, it's better this way."
Months after restoration, the old town is now a busy, bustling town once again. And Murdoch had been chosen to take the first passenger train to the new, restored location.
"There," sighed Murdoch when he arrived. And of course, they named the town "Temporal Town". "Temporal is somewhat related to time," explained Rebecca. "I see," said Murdoch.
