Talyllyn And Dolgoch
Today Skarloey and Rheneas were waiting for a special invitation. "I wonder what it could be," Skarloey said. "We'll wait and see," smiled Rheneas. "Here it is," the Thin Controller replied, holding the invitation letter, "It says that Skarloey and Rheneas are invited to visit the Talyllyn Railway in Wales for one week."
"Oh, sir!" said Skarloey and Rheneas excitedly. "Thank you," smiled Skarloey. "It means well to us," smiled Rheneas, "We are grateful." "I'm glad that you are," smiled the Thin Controller, "You will leave first thing tomorrow morning." "Right!" said Skarloey and Rheneas together.
That night, the two engines rested in their sheds, thinking of the day tomorrow. "I wonder how Talyllyn is doing after all these years," thought Skarloey. "I'm not sure," replied Rheneas, "Hopefully, he and his friends like Dolgoch are doing fine." "Yes," answered Skarloey. They both fell asleep.
The two little engines set off for the Talyllyn Railway next morning. "Good luck, you two," said Duke. "You too!" smiled Rusty. "Thank you everyone!" said Skarloey and Rheneas together. The two engines were loaded on a train of well wagons on the Fat Controller's railway and they were now on their way.
In no time at all, both Skarloey and Rheneas arrived at the Talyllyn Railway. "There they are!" Skarloey said. Sure enough, there was Talyllyn and Dolgoch, their brothers. Talyllyn immediately noticed Skarloey and Rheneas. "Hello!" said Skarloey. "Why hello, brothers," said Talyllyn, "Nice to see you here."
"We're visiting for one week," said Rheneas, "It is our honor." "Thank you," said Talyllyn, "We welcome you with open hearts." "Nice of you," said Rheneas. "Please, come," said Talyllyn. "All right the," agreed Rheneas. Both Skarloey and Rheneas puffed into the main yards led by Talyllyn and Dogoch. All of the other Talyllyn Railway engines were there.
"Everyone," said Talyllyn, "Meet my brother, Skarloey and Dolgoch's brother, Rheneas. We're all brothers, you know." "Uh, yes," said Skarloey. "Skarloey and Rheneas," said Talyllyn, I want you to meet Sir Haydn, Edward Thomas, Douglas, Tom Rolt, Midlander, Alf, Bryn Eglws, and Merseysider." "Oh, wow!" said Rheneas, "I can't wait to tell our friend at home!"
"Everyone," said Talyllyn, "Meet our brothers. Say hello." The other engines blew their whistles and the diesel engines honked their horns to say "welcome". "Well, thank you everyone," said Skarloey and Rheneas together.
"We'll get back to work," said Talyllyn, "A lot of tourist to take. You two must be tired from your long journey. You can take a rest." "Thank you," said Skarloey and Rheneas.
For the rest of the day, Skarloey and Rheneas both relaxed in their sheds.
The next morning, the two engines woke up to take the first passenger train of the day. "Let's get to it," said Skarloey. "Right there," replied Rheneas. The two engines spent all morning with the passenger trains. They had a great time. When it was lunch time, Skarloey stopped to talk to Talyllyn.
"Your railway hasn't changed at all," said Skarloey, "It has the same kind of beauty like the last time I came here." "You're right about that," smiled Talyllyn, "Our owners have done a great job of preserving this railway and the forest." "Right," agreed Skarloey, "Even though we've been here for just one day."
"You're right about that," smiled Talyllyn. The two engines returned to work later on.
Day two of the visit, Skarloey helped the diesel engines to check for abnormality in the railway line. "It's always important to keep the line in good working order," said Talyllyn. "Right," agreed Skarloey.
On day three, Rheneas helped Douglas with the removing fallen branches from the line. And Skarloey helped Sir Haydn with the passenger train.
From day four to six, Skarloey and Rheneas helped everyone with passengers, goods and railway maintenance.
The week had gone by very fast and so on day seven, Skarloey and Rheneas helped out one last time.
Soon enough, It was time for Skarloey and Rheneas to go home. "We are been grateful to have you visit us," said Talyllyn. "It is a gifted privilege," said Skarloey, "My brother, to have come and visit you and your friends." "Thank you," said Rheneas, "Your words are kind to us."
"It is a shame you have to go and leave us," said Talyllyn disappointed, "But we respect your decision." "Thank you," said Skarloey, "But we promise to return one day." "Yes," said Rheneas, "We will be back." "Please come again soon," said Talyllyn. With that, Skarloey and Rheneas set off for home. "We will return someday," smiled Skarloey.
