Percy Gets On

Starting out like any other day, Percy took a trainload of cargo to Brendam Docks. "Ready!" Cranky called down to Percy. "Of course," said Percy, "I'm ready to have these trucks unloaded! Go right on ahead!" "Of course I will," said Cranky and set to work right away.

Later, when Percy returned to Tidmouth yards with the empty trucks, he saw 5 diesel engines whom he had never seen before. "Eh?" wondered Percy, "Who are they?" All of the other engines were there, listening to the Fat Controller.

"I have decided to invite these diesel engines for a test run on the railway," he announced, "So please show them what we do on this railway." "Yes sir!" all the engines replied. "Oh boy!" said Percy, excitedly, "I can't wait to show them how I do the mail train!" Just then, Dennis the diesel engine chugged by. He looked at the 5 diesel engines.

"Be careful, Percy," Dennis said to Percy, "I don't trust these diesel engines. They look like troublemakers to me." "Huh?" Percy replied, confused. "Trust me," Dennis said as he left.

"What?" thought Percy. "What does he mean?" He looked at the diesel engines again and they all had uninterested looking faces. "Hello," said Thomas, "Welcome to-" The diesel engines pulled away from Thomas. "What?!" exclaimed Thomas. "How rude," snorted Henry, "Such manners!"

"What is their problem?" asked Percy to no one as he puffed away. No one noticed that there was another diesel engine on the railway.

Later, Thomas was collecting Annie and Clarabel for their run on the branch line. Suddenly, one of the diesels jumped our right in front of Thomas and said, "Get a move on!" "ARGH!" Thomas screamed and puffed back too fast and he bumped Annie and Clarabel really hard. "Ouch!" screamed the coaches.

"Thomas!" scolded Annie, "I thought you knew how to take care of us!" "Yes, Annie and Clarabel," Thomas said sadly, then he grew mad and shouted at the diesel, "And what did you do that for?!"

"To get you going you slow steam pipe!" the diesel replied in an insulting tone. Then he left. "What nerve!" shouted Thomas, Annie and Clarabel together.

Meanwhile, another diesel played a trick on Henry. While Henry is waiting his turn at the water tower after Emily, the diesel bumped into Henry, forcing him to hit Emily, causing the water tower hose to break off and water poured out everywhere.

"Henry!" cried Emily, "What happened?!" "Sorry!" said Henry. "I'm not sorry to you slow steamies!" the diesel called as he left. "So it was his fault!" snarled Emily. "I'll go with that," said Henry.

Another diesel played a trick on Gordon. When he left with his Express train, the diesel blocked his line with more coaches. "Hey!" Gordon called, "What is this! Express coming through!"

"Or a forced delay!" the diesel called back, "Never, you loser!" "What on earth?!" Gordon retorted. The diesel never returned to clear the line that he blocked.

Next, Arthur was resting in a siding. Then two of the visiting diesel engines, D2346 and D3578 decided to play a trick on Arthur. First, very slowly and very carefully, D3578 pulled Arthur out of the siding. Very slowly as to not wake him up. "Ok," D3578 said as he pulled the sleeping Arthur out, "Now hit him! Really hard!"

Just as he said that, D2346 pushed a train of heavy trucks right into Arthur. The bump woke up Arthur. "Argh!" he cried. "Work now, you lazy steam hulk!" D2346 shouted right in Arthur's face. "What was that about?!" shouted Arthur, "I was resting!" "Not anymore!" D3578 called and he and D2346 left.

"Unbelievable!" grumbled Arthur.

Percy had watched the whole thing. "Troublesome diesel engines," he muttered to himself, "I wish there was a way to teach them a lesson!" He puffed into a siding later on. "Hey!" a voice called. "Who's there?" asked Percy, confused.

"Over here," the voice called again, "Behind the van!" Percy looked and found another diesel engine, the one who was never introduced with the other diesel engines. "Huh?" Percy wondered. "Don't worry," said the diesel, "I'm not going to hurt you." "All right," Percy said, "Who are you?"

"My name is Tyrax," the diesel engine said, "I was not with them. At all" "So you are not going to," Percy tried to ask a question. "Play a trick on all of you?" Tyrax finished, "No, I am not!" "Oh," replied Percy. "Those oversized pranksters have caused trouble for steam engines on the other railway," explained Tyrax, "And now they're giving you all a hard time."

"Yeah," said Percy, "I know. I saw what they did to Arthur." "I know," Tyrax said. "So what about you?" asked Percy. "I am doing no work right now," Tyrax explained, "As I do not want to be affiliated with those 5 creeps." "Ok," said Percy. "Let's work together to teach those idiots a lesson," said Tyrax and he and Percy left together.

At the same time, Murdoch was pulling a goods train very slowly. It was loaded with fragile china teapots and plates. "Take it easy, boy," said the driver. "I know," replied Murdoch happily. Then one of the diesel engines chugged up behind. "Need help?" he asked in a taunting tone of voice, "Don't like going so slow like a snail?"

"Well," Murdoch replied, "Not really but-" "Ok," the diesel interrupted, "Let me rush you then!" And he bumped into Murdoch's goods train, pushing him forward. "Hey, what are you doing, you maniac!" shouted Murdoch, picking up speed. "Am I helping you?" the diesel replied insultingly, "Yes, I am!"

"Have you lost your mind?!" Murdoch shouted. But the diesel made Murdoch go really fast. Too fast for the china inside as they bounced all over the place.

Then the diesel sent Murdoch flying down the railway line. Since he was never coupled up to the brake van, he let Murdoch go and never followed him further on. "There you go!" the diesel called out as he stopped pushing Murdoch, "Have fun!" "You reckless maniac!" Murdoch shouted, "Simpleton! Idiot!"

Murdoch managed to slow down before he ran into the station where the china is needed. "Oh my gosh!" cried the men as Murdoch stopped. "Hello?" said Murdoch.

The men looked inside the vans and saw that most of the china had been smashed to pieces. "Murdoch!" cried the shop owner as he arrived, "You were supposed to go slow and steady!" "Yeah," agreed Murdoch, "I was going slow." "Until you chose to speed up!" cried the owner, "Another engine should have done the job! Not you!" He then walked away.

The men looked at Murdoch doubtfully. "That oversized tin can!" muttered Murdoch, "I'll teach him a lesson for pushing me too fast!"

Meanwhile, another diesel engine told a line of trucks something devious. "Will you make an engine go really fast against their will?" the diesel asked trucks. "Yes!" they all agree, "We'll push him down the hill!" "Excellent," said the diesel as he left.

Then Percy and Tyrax approached the main yards where they found Murdoch and the Fat Controller. "Looks like Murdoch had a bad day," said Percy. "Shh!" Tyrax said. Murdoch's crew explained to the Fat Controller what had happened. "A diesel engine?" Percy asked. Just then the diesel that had pushed Murdoch sniggered by.

Tyrax looked at him. "That is the Bully diesel," Tyrax explained, "I like to call him that." "Him?" asked Percy. "Yes," said Tyrax, "He's the one who pushed Murdoch too fast. With a train of china!" "That's awful!" squeaked Percy. "All right," Tyrax said, "They have taken this too far now!" "But what can we do?" asked Percy.

Just then, two more diesel engines arrived. "The unfriendly diesel and the meanie diesel," said Tyrax, "They're up to something." "I see," said Percy, "I have to move a train now. We'll think of something later." He puffed off. "Be careful," said Tyrax, "I'll tag along with you." Percy collected his train and he set off.

Unfortunately, these are the trucks that one of the diesel engines had told to play a trick on and the engine they got is Percy. "Let's start," said a truck, "This engine doesn't look bright." "Not now!" said another one. Percy started away with Tyrax following him. But when they got to the hill, Percy had a hard time with the trucks.

"Come on!" cried Percy, "Help me!" "No way!" said a truck, "Never!" "Here!" called Tyrax, "I'll give you a push!" He buffered up to Percy and pushed him up the hill. "Thank you," smiled Percy. But when they got to the top, the trucks played their tricks. "We're over the top!" cried one, "Now race!" The trucks began to push Percy down the hill.

"Uh oh," cried Percy, "This isn't good! Help!" "Percy!" cried Tyrax as the brake van's buffers left him. Percy sped down the hill. "Help!" cried Percy. His driver set the brakes, but it was no good. "Percy!" shouted Tyrax, "Hold on! I'll try to catch up!" Tyrax raced after Percy.

At the same time, there was a set of five trucks on the railway line and the five diesel engines prepared to use them. "Let's block the line for one of those dummies," said one of the diesel engines. "Yes, lets!" said another. They prepared to block the line with the train of empty trucks.

But they never saw Percy charging down the line right into their path. "Oh no!" cried Percy. The brakes, still locked on, didn't hold Percy at all. "Help!" cried Percy as he hit the train of trucks. The impact forced the five diesel engines backwards and they all derailed as a result. Percy had also derailed and his trucks piled up behind him.

He was dazed about what had happened. Just then, Tyrax arrived. "Sorry," he panted, "Tried to catch up. Percy!" "I'm fine!" answered Percy.

The driver and firemen got back on their feet and tried to figure out what had happened. Tyrax then noticed the five diesel engines, all derailed. "Well, well, well," he said, "What do we have here? And more importantly, what you five up to?"

"We we're trying to block this line with the trucks," said the unfriendly diesel, "Somehow." "Somehow," interrupted the bully diesel, "You are dumb enough to explain what we tried to do!" "I knew it!" said Tyrax, "This is your doing!"

Soon many of the Sodor engines arrived at the scene of the disaster. "Well," said Gordon, "What happened here? Was this your fault, you smelly boxes on wheels?" "I think so," said James. "Percy!" cried Thomas, "Are you okay?" "Yes," replied Percy. "I'm sorry," said Tyrax, "I couldn't save Percy." Just then, the Fat Controller arrived.

"What is going on here?" he boomed, "This is going to cause confusion and problems!" "We tried to block the line," said the unfriendly diesel. "Shut your mouth!" shouted D3578. "You're stupid!" said the meanie diesel.

"Well!" the Fat Controller said sternly, "You have failed your test run on my railway!" "Hello, helper," Murdoch said to the bully diesel, "If that is your real name." "Yeah, I helped you go really fast," said the bully diesel.

"You're an idiot!" shouted D2346. "So!" the china shop owner said walking into view, "It was you to rushed the train with my china, not Murdoch!" "Sir!" called Henry, "These five diesels have caused nothing but trouble today!"

"I see," said the Fat Controller, "I'll have them sent away for good and never to return!" "Sir!" Tyrax called, "I would like to take them away for you." "Very well," the Fat Controller said, "You can do so. I'm glad that you can be trusted, who are you?"

"My name is Tyrax," Tyrax said, "Sir and I was trying not be seen with these 5 troublemakers." "Well, I'm glad to stop these troublemakers in their tracks," smiled Percy. "Even though it was an accident," said Tyrax, "I would like to apologize for the trouble they've caused on your railway." Everyone agreed. "By the way," asked Henry, "How is it that you weren't seen, Tyrax?"

So the engines cleared up the mess. Percy was rescued and repaired. The five diesel engines had been placed back onto the rails, unrepaired and spend the whole night in the goods shed in disgrace.

The next morning, Tyrax prepared to take the diesel engines away. "I'm going to teach these five a lesson now," said Tyrax. "Good riddance," said Gordon. "Better for everyone," said Toby.

"Hey, Tyrax," said Percy, "Thank you." "No problem," smiled Tyrax, "I can't let these lunatics run amok on your railway." "Right," agreed Toby, "No room for these clowns." "Yes, and I must go now," said Tyrax, "Hopefully, we'll meet again."

"I hope so, too," said Percy. So with that said, Tyrax took the diesels far away. "Take care, my new friend," smiled Percy when Tyrax disappeared from view.
