Spring Time For Sodor
Spring has arrived on Sodor and Everyone was working harder than ever. Gordon worked with the express. Percy delivered the mail. Thomas, Gloria and Emily took passengers on their branch line.
Duck, Donald, Douglas and Oliver worked on the coast branch line. And all of the narrow gauge engines worked on their lines as well. Everyone is busy today. At the end of the day, some the engines returned to their respected sheds, while others like Henry, James and Arthur worked the night shift.
It will be a busy time on Sodor. "We'd better get some rest," Arthur suggested. "Right," Henry agreed. So that's what they did.
The next morning, Thomas arrived at the shunting yards. He had been summoned to have a goods train arranged for a later job. "Well, this is peculiar," Thomas thought to himself as he shunted some trucks in a siding and prepared to get a train ready.
While Thomas did his work, many other engines started their jobs as well. So was everyone on the roads, like Bertie the bus, who was waiting to leave with some of his passengers. "Well, I am ready to go," he thought, "But not all of my passengers."
"Right there, Bertie," said his driver. Meanwhile, Flynn was watering some plants with his water cannons. "Ah, nothing like spring shower to keep you all happy," Flynn said. "Ok, you're right over there," smiled Bertie.
At the same time, Thomas had finished arranging one set of trucks. Next, he puffed onto a turntable to collect a few more trucks. After Thomas got onto the siding, the turntable turned so that Bill and Ben could cross over to pick up some more trucks. "Sorry, Thomas," chirped Bill.
"We need this bit of track to collect some open trucks," said Ben. "Ok," said Thomas, "Go right on ahead." Bill and Ben did so. Next, the turntable started to turn around to let Thomas back onto the line.
However, when the turntable lined up with Thomas' track, there was a loud, grinding, crashing sound, and the turntable stopped. "What happened?" asked Thomas. Workmen went to inspect what has happened.
"The turntable has jammed!" a workmen called out, "Looks like a gear has broke off." "Bother!" Thomas burst out. "Sorry, Thomas," said his driver, "Not sure if we can do anything about this. You'll just have to stay here until the turntable is mended."
"Oh!" Thomas groaned as his crew walked away. "Stuck, stuck, stuck," the trucks chanted, "Poor old Thomas is stuck with us! Trapped, trapped, trapped!" Thomas had to put up with the truck's taunting for most of the day.
Because Thomas was stuck, Gloria had been given the job to work with Dennis, the diesel engine. The two engines were working together. "Thanks for helping me," Gloria said to Dennis. "Oh, no problem," smiled Dennis, "I'm glad now than I was before."
When Dennis first arrived, he didn't want to do any jobs. But after a derailment, he has changed his mind. After Gloria shunted a line of trucks, Sara arrived to collect a goods train. "Hey, guys," Sara said to Gloria and Dennis. "Oh, hey, Sara," Gloria said, "And I'm a girl, just you let you know."
"Sorry, my bad," Sara replied, "Anyway, I'm going to take a goods train to Vicarstown. The trip shouldn't be that difficult of a job." "If you say so," Gloria said. So Sara was coupled up to the goods train. Although Hector was coupled in front, the leading truck was none other than SC Ruffey.
And today, SC Ruffey was in no mood to cooperate. Nonetheless, Sara set off with her train. For most of the time, Sara was enjoying her trip. But when she got to Gordon's hill, things began to change. "I knew I should have had a back engine," she groaned while struggling up the big hill.
In no time at all, Sara got over the big hill. But SC Ruffey prepared to play his trick on Sara. "Sara, watch out!" Hector cried. "Huh?" Sara replied, but it was too late as the trucks bumped into each other. "On! On! On!" they yelled and pushed Sara down the hill.
"This is not what I had in mind!" Sara yelled. "Me too!" Hector yelled. Sara and her train raced down the hill at top speed. She raced by Gordon, pulling his usual express train. "Hey!" he yelled, "Copycat! Trying to break my record speed!" Sara didn't notice Gordon and she raced by the narrow gauge engine's transfer yards.
"What's she trying to do?" Duncan asked. "Duncan!" Peter Sam said, "She's in trouble!" "Oh," Duncan said. There was no choice, but to divert Sara into a siding. At the end of the siding, Sara slammed into the buffers, damaging them. Her train followed.
First, S.C. Ruffey bumped into Sara, only to be crushed into a lot of pieces when Hector slammed into him. All the trucks behind hit each other and derailed. Sara's crew examined the damage.
"Well, this is one way to get into a predicament," groaned Sara. Soon enough, the Fat Controller arrived to examine the damage. "Sara," he said, "What happened?" "I let these trucks push me down the hill," Sara explained, "Sorry sir."
"I see," the Fat Controller said. He then examined the remains of SC Ruffey. "I knew it was a bad idea to put him back together," he thought. Then he turned to Sara. "Don't worry," he said to her, "We'll have you back on the rails in no time." "Thanks," smiled Sara.
Soon enough, Edward and James arrived with Harvey and Rocky to clear the mess. "Don't worry, Sara," Harvey told Sara, "We'll get you out of there!" "Take your time," Sara said, "No rush, please." "Yeah!" Hector agreed.
While the rescue was going on, several engines were working at a rock quarry. "I wonder where Thomas is," Percy thought to himself. "He must be really busy," Toby answered, but he's not 100% sure that he's right.
None of the engines knew that Thomas cannot come to work. So Toby and Percy were brought in to help. At the same time, Kayla had to pull Annie, Clarabel and Henrietta for Thomas and Toby.
"Oh well," Kayla thought to herself, "It's for the best." Other engines who were working in this quarry are Henry, Emily, Mavis, Rebecca, and Duck. Hardworker, the steam shovel is also at work in the small quarry.
"Better get going," Henry said. "Right," Emily agreed and the engines set to work.
At the same time, Oliver went to get a new engine for the Arlesdale Railway. When he arrived at Brendam Docks, he found a little engine waiting on a flatbed. "Oh, hi," Oliver said as he saw the new engine.
"Hi," the new little engine replied, "My name is Lana." "Why hello, Lana," Oliver said, "Nice to meet you." "Nice to meet you, too," the little engine, named Lana said. "Now let's get you to your new home," Oliver told Lana.
"Yes," Lana replied and soon, they were on way.
For most of the time, things were going well at the small quarry. Henry, Emily and Rebecca hauled the heavy trucks away, while Percy, Toby, Duck and Mavis arranged the empty trucks. "Right on time," Emily said. The engine were about to leave when suddenly, there was trouble.
A large boulder became dislodge and blocked the only way in and out of the quarry. "Oh no!" cried Percy, "We're trapped!" "I'll try an break through this rock!" Henry shouted as he prepared to strike at the boulder. "No, don't!" Toby cried, "You'll damage yourself!" "Argh!" groaned Henry.
"We need to find a way out of this!" Rebecca said. "Right!" Emily agreed. "There must be a way," Duck said. "Maybe I could be of some assistance," Hardworker said. "Hardworker?" Mavis asked, "Are you?"
"I'm going to try and lift the boulder out of the way," Hardworker said, "Everyone, get back!" Hardworker said as he approached the rock. "Be careful!" Mavis said. "Just to let you know," Hardworker said, "I am going to have a headache the size of a Culdee Railway mountain! Here it goes!" He pressed his bucket against the boulder.
Hardworker took a long time to remove the big boulder. But at last, he cleared the opening. "Way to go!" Percy shouted. "I'm impressed," Rebecca said. "Let me do nothing through the whole spring season," Hardworker said dizzyingly. "You can take a break," Toby said to Hardworker, "Thank you." "I will," Hardworker said.
"Come on," Emily said, "Let's get out of here!" "Right to agree," Toby said. "Me too," Percy said.
So the engines then left the quarry. So the rest of the day had gone on like normal without any more incidents. Oliver had Lana unloaded at the transfer point on the Arlesdale Railway. "There you go," Oliver said. "Thank you," Lana said, "You're a good friend." "I know," Oliver said. "She's right, you know," Toad said to Oliver.
"Yep," Toad said as Lana left to start work.
At the same time, Sara had been placed back onto the rails. "Sorry about this," Hector said to Sara, "I'd never intended for that to happen." "It's okay," Sara smiled, "I should have had better control of the trucks." "Next time," Hector said, "Let's try and work together. Deal?" "Deal," Sara smiled.
However, for Thomas, the turntable wasn't mended until early the next morning. After that, Thomas returned to his branch like. "This time," he said to himself, "I am not going to waste another day!"
