Diesel Saves The Pack
One day, Diesel had to take a train load of steel beams to a construction site where Jack and his friends are building a new building. Diesel arrived and he shunted his flatbeds in a siding where Oliver as he and Kelly started to unload them.
"Thank you," Oliver said as Kelly started to unload the steel beams. "Yeah, right," Diesel grumbled. "Diesel," Isobella said, "What's going on?" "Having to deliver these loads to the likes of you!" Diesel said.
"Oh, don't worry about it," Isobella said, "You'll be all right." "It's not the weight of the good that bothers me," Diesel said. "Ok," Alfie said. "So what is it?" Jack asked. "It's," Diesel said. "It's what?" Alfie asked.
"It's just," Diesel said, but then he stopped. "What?" Alfie asked. "Nothing," Diesel answered, "Forget it." "But didn't you say," Jack was about to ask a question when Diesel interrupted him.
"I said it's nothing!" Diesel growled. "Geeze," Jack said. "You don't have to be so rude," Alfie said. "That's our job!" Max and Monty said together. "Max, Monty," Kelly said to the two dump trucks, "Go back to work." And Max and Monty did. But Diesel just sighed.
Later, Diesel collected a train of open wagons and took them to the scrap yards. Reg, the scrapyard crane was there, of course. "Hello," Reg said, "Diesel." "Hi," Diesel said uninterested. "What's wrong?" Reg asked. "Nothing," Diesel said. "Come on, Diesel," Reg said, "Tell old Reg what's wrong."
Finally Diesel gave in. "You see," Diesel said, "I wanted to contribute something to the new building that the pack is working on. All I ever do there is just deliver steel bars and whatever else they need." "Not contributing, you say?" Reg said, "Diesel, what are you saying? You are contributing something there."
"I know," Diesel replied, "It's just not enough for me." "Well," Reg said, "I don't know what else to say about that." "Only," said Diesel, but he said no more. After Reg had finished loading Diesel's trucks, he took them to the steel mills so that they could be recycled. "I'm sorry for you, Diesel," Reg said sadly.
By the end of the day, the Pack called it quits for the night. "Work is over!" Kelly called as the whistle blew. "Time to go home," Nelson said. And the pack went home, with the exception of Kelly, who was to go on night patrol.
But what Kelly didn't know is that there were a group of teenage vandals. They were sneaking around the site. It is clear that they were up to no good. And they're really stupid. So stupid that they had fallen asleep in the piles of steel bars.
The next morning, the Pack returned to continue on with the work. "Let's go," Jack said. Some minutes later, Diesel returned to the site. "I wish," he sighed. Diesel just stood there for a long time. Alfie noticed Diesel looked upset. "I wish I could do something for him," Alfie thought to himself.
"Come on, Alfie," Kelly called. And so, Alfie returned to work. Diesel was about to leave when he noticed something strange. "What the?" he said. When the Pack turned away to collect more loads, a group of teenagers walked out from behind a tree and were now walking towards the building structure. Diesel immediately noticed this.
"What are they up to?" Diesel thought. He got his answered immediately. "Oh no!" Diesel cried, "Crazy nutheads! They're taking apart the structure." He is right. "Everyone!" Diesel shouted, honking his horn. "What's going on?" Oliver asked. "Oh no!" Kelly cried, "Vandals!"
"They're undoing our work!" Alfie cried. "Oh no!" Jenny Packard said, "Hey, you! Get away from there!" Immediately, Jack charged towards the teenagers and honked at them.
This sent the stupid teenagers scurrying away. "We have to stop them!" Buster said. Diesel had to think fast. So he backed up to get help.
However, the stupid teenagers ended up running right onto the track which Diesel is backing up on. Diesel ended up striking all of the stupid teenagers and sending them flying. They all landed into Monty's dump bed just as Ned dumped more dirt into it.
"What happened?" Ned asked, confused. Everyone was surprised. "Diesel," Alfie said, "You stopped them." "I did?" Diesel said. "They must have ran onto the line when you were backing up," Diesel's driver said. "Really?" Diesel asked.
"Diesel," Jack said, "You've saved our work." "I did?" Diesel said. "Yes! Yes! Yes!" Alfie exclaimed. "Wow," Diesel said, "This is pretty amazing." Everyone agreed."Thank you," Jenny said to Diesel, "You are a credit to my team." "Oh," Diesel blushed, "Thanks."
Afterwards, Miss Jenny had the stupid teenage vandals arrested. They were never cleaned, of course and were charged with trespassing. While the construction site is being checked for damages, Diesel told his story to Reg.
"Well," Reg smiled, "You must be very proud of yourself." "I am," Diesel smiled, "This has been an interesting day for me." "I'm sure it is," Reg said. Diesel couldn't feel anymore happier.
