Chapter 5
The students all whispered amongst themselves, staring at the man walking along just behind Professor Bennett. He was tall and rather young, short black hair and with similarly black eyes, fair skinned with a short goatee and moustache. Watching him carefully they all wondered just who he was, luckily they were about to get answers as Professor Bennett and the man reached the staff table and Professor Bennett began talking to Professor Dumbledore along with the man until finally, seemingly satisfied with what was being said, Professor Bennett headed for her seat while the man stood to the side and Professor Dumbledore stood up.
"Everyone, I'd like to introduce you to Mr. James Warren, he is a Magical Researcher who is currently staying in Hogsmeade while conducing his research around Hogwarts." He announced before sending a smile to the man, eyes glinting. "Admittedly you are a little late Mr. Warren, I expected you on the first date of term."
James Warren gave a small laugh. "Apologies Dumbledore, I was delayed. Nevertheless as you've all heard I'm here to conduct some of my research. Specifically I'm looking into rumours of new or lost branches of Magic, that are coming back to the surface around Hogwarts."
More than a few students whispered about that, mostly interested, a few were a little suspicious of this stranger but he smiled warmly and seemed friendly enough.
"So, that's why I'm hoping I can ask you all for help. If you happen to see something out of the ordinary, even for Hogwarts, please let me know." He then became serious. "It is imperative that I secure any sites of research, after all this kind of Magic is dangerous in the wrong hands, there are those who would use it for evil after all. So please, be alert."
That left an ominous silence afterwards.

"Do you believe what he said, that's there's...lost branches of magic or that around here?" Amara asked warily.
Carla shook her head. "I don't know, I don't want to think about it, it's pretty...scary."
Amara nodded in agreement, "Especially if, like he said, someone with dark intentions gets a hold of them."
Both girls were outside their Charms class and soon they were called in with their fellow students and took their seats. Professor Flitwick greeted them all warmly, beginning the lesson.
"Welcome, welcome, now that we're all here we can begin." He announced. "Now after our previous lesson and the homework I set, I hope you're all ready. Today we will work on mastering the Wand Lighting Charm, like so. Lumos!"
He flicked his wand and held it out, the tip lighting up.
Extinguishing the light he continued to speak. "Now obviously you won't see the benefit here, but this charm can come in handy, for some obvious reasons I'm sure."
The class all nodded and soon they were practising and before long Amara grinned as she accomplished it, her wand tip lighting up immediately and staying lit up.
"Ah excellent, good job, Miss Jackson, five points to Gryffindor." Flitwick announced.
Amara smiled, glad to see her efforts paying off, she seemed to have a knack for Charms, much like Carla did with Transfiguration. After class the girls were chatting together when Amara spotted something.
"Oh hey, look, it's Mr. Warren."
Carla turned her head and saw she was right.
James Warren was further down the corridor, he was examining a tapestry on the wall that seemed to interest him greatly. Seeing as they had a chance and time, they made their way over to him.
"Hello Mr. Warren."
He turned and took note of them. "Ah hello, um…?"
The girls introduced themselves and he nodded.
"Miss Jackson, Miss Altobello. How can I help you?" He replied.
Amara smiled softly. "Oh, no we were just…we were wondering what you were doing?"
Giving a smile, James turned his attention back to the tapestry. "It's part of my research, I've been looking for clues as to where the most recent location of this magic I heard of is. From what I picked up, there should be clues, hidden right in this tapestry of all things."
That surprised the girls and they could see the look on his face that showed his deep interest in the subject he was working on. As they walked to their next class, Carla mentioned that and added.
"I can see why he'd be so interested in something like that. If I had a subject that I was so invested in, I'd be the same."
Amara laughed but nodded in agreement, it looked like Hogwarts was going to get so much more interesting. That was of course, once they got past the problems, for despite all the magic in the air, Hogwarts was still a school and that meant one thing. Typical school problems.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
