Percy Gets Tricked

Percy like pulling the mail train. He thinks it's one of the greatest jobs on the Island of Sodor. Thomas think so, too. Both engines like pulling the mail train. "They say pulling the mail is an important job," Gordon mumbled to himself, "What about the express? ME?" "Now, now, Gordon," said his driver.

One day, Percy was pulling the mail train throughout the countryside. He was enjoying his time. Soon, Percy arrived at a little station close to a farm. "Mail delivery!" Percy said excitedly, "Oh, sorry. Delivery!"

The signal dropped and Percy was on his way once again. On his way, Percy noticed something peculiar. "What?" he thought to himself, "What are those?" "They look like electric engines," Percy's driver answered. "Yes, they are," the firemen replied, "We'll finish our job first, then we can meet them." "Ok," Percy agreed and he delivered the mail.

When Percy had finished work, he soon met the four engines. "Hello," Percy said nervously. The four engines stared at Percy. Then one replied, "Hello there." "My name is Percy," Percy said slowly.

"Well," one of the engines replied, "Nice to meet you, Percy. I am called the TGV." "I'm Eurostar," another one said. "ICE is what I am," another replied. "And I'm known as the Bullet Train," the last one said. "We're famous electric engines!" all four said together at once.

"Oh boy!" Percy replied, "Can you show me what you do?" "Sure," Eurostar answered. So, the four engines pulled coaches like they do. "I see," Percy said. "We get our energy from electric wires overhead," said Eurostar. "That's right," ICE added in.

"We're more efficient than steam engines and diesel engines," Bullet Train concluded. "Ok," Percy replied, but unsure. "Also," said TGV, "We can go really fast!" And he did. "Wow!" Percy exclaimed. Just then, the signalmen ran up to Percy's crew.

"Sorry, Percy," Percy's driver replied, "There's trouble in the goods yard and Thomas needs your help." "Ok," Percy replied, "Let's go! Sorry everyone. I have to go." "Oh no problem," said Bullet Train. "We'll be awaiting your return," said TGV. "Thanks," Percy said as he steamed off, "See you tomorrow!" "Bye," the four electric engines replied.

However, when Percy left, the four electric engines expression had changed. "I think we've found us another sucker, boys," TGV said to the other three engines in a sly voice. "Right," Bullet Train agreed with a smirk.

Percy helped Thomas out at the goods yards. Percy kept blasting his whistle at the uncooperative trucks to make them obey orders. However, whenever Percy stops by Thomas, he kept telling him about the four electric engines.

"And they travel really fast," Percy explained, "Pull trains really fast! By electricity!" "Ok," Thomas replied, "I know how excited you are of your new friends." "But we have work to do here now," Sara said, "You can talk about them later, okay?"

"Ok, Percy replied, "I can't wait to introduce them to you!" The work in the yards continued on throughout the rest of the day.

When work was finished, Percy was too tired to meet his new friends, so he returned to the branch line sheds and fell asleep. "Percy wore himself out today," said Emily. "Yeah," Thomas replied, "He sure is excited about his new friends." And the engines fell asleep. "But I have a bad feeling about this," said Daisy. But no one heard her.

The following morning, Percy woke up early and met up with his new friends, or so he thought. He raced to the exact same place where he had met them yesterday. "Morning, everyone!" Percy called out when he saw the four electric engines.

"Why hello, little one," said Bullet Train. "Nice to see you again," Eurostar said slyly, "I mean glad to see you." "Yes, and I'm glad to see you as well," said Percy. "Good," said TGV. "What's this?" Percy asked when he noticed a funny looking machine on the railway line.

"This is a booster wagon," Bullet Train answered, "It's designed to make ordinary steam engines go really fast. Like us." "Right," ICE added in. Percy soon became excited. "May I try it?" Percy asked. "Sure," said Eurostar.

And so, Percy was coupled up to the booster wagon.

"Enjoy your ride," TGV said in a taunting voice. "What?!" Percy responded, but it was too late. The booster wagon activated and sent Percy flying down the line. The four engines laughed. "What a sucker!" Bullet Train said out loud. But Percy couldn't hear anything. The booster wagon sent him flying down the railway line.

"Help!" Percy yelled.

At the same time, Thomas was pulling Annie and Clarabel along his branch line. But when Thomas stopped at the first station, he knew something was wrong. "Thomas," his driver said, "What is it?" "Percy is in trouble," said Thomas, "I can feel it in my axels. They're tingling."

"How?" Annie asked. "I knew it!" Thomas shouted as he saw Percy flying down another line. "Help!" he yelled, but his voice was distorted. "There he goes!" shouted Clarabel. "Good heavens!" Thomas' firemen shouted, "We've got to do something!" "Right," the driver agreed, "But what?"

"I need the jet engine," Thomas said at last. "All right," the driver agreed, "So you'd better be careful with that thing. Remember what happened the last time you've use it?" "Yes," Thomas answered seriously, "And now, Percy needs our help!" "Ok," the driver agreed, "Warn the Fat Controller immediately!"

And thus, all rail transportation on the Island of Sodor ground to a halt. "How undignified," Gordon grumbled. But then he saw Percy speeding past him. "Impossible!" said Gordon. Even work on the Skarloey railway had to stop. "This is ridiculous!" Duncan grumbled.

Thomas prepared to chase after Percy when Diesel got out the jet engine. "Here's the big missile for you," he growled. "Thanks," Thomas replied. "Thank me more!" Diesel growled. "No time," the driver said as Thomas was coupled up to the jet engine.

"Let's go!" Thomas said. The driver turned on the jet engine, raced back to the cab before it gone off and Thomas raced down the line. "We're not going to lose sight of him!" the firemen called. "There he is!" Thomas shouted as soon as they saw Percy.

"We've got to be careful!" the driver shouted. In a few minutes, Thomas caught up to Percy. "Hold on, Percy!" Thomas shouted. "Thomas!" Percy cried. "We must be careful," Thomas' driver shouted, "Or we're all dead!" Percy's crew promised to help in any way they could.

"Ok," Thomas' driver sat at last, "We're going to disconnect Percy from the booster wagon! When Percy is free, slow down!" The crew agreed. And we'll turn off the jet engine for you," Percy's firemen replied. The crews then had Thomas's cab door line up with the coupling of the booster wagon.

Thomas' firemen held out a strong shunter's pole. "Now!" the firemen called and he hooked the pole into the coupling of the booster wagon. Percy's driver prepared to slam on the brakes, slightly at first. Also, Percy's driver used his hat like a boomerang and used it to hit the switch to the jet engine.

Finally, Thomas' firemen broke Percy away from the booster wagon, and Thomas' driver put on the brakes. As the booster wagon continued to pick up speed, thus driving away from Thomas and Percy, the soft brakes began slowing them down.

Then when they were going at a safe speed, they slammed on the brakes. "That was close," Thomas said. "Right," the firemen agreed. "I'm tired," said Percy.

Eventually, the booster wagon drove off a curve and was destroyed upon impact. "That could have been me!" Percy squealed. "Right," Thomas said, "Percy, are you okay?" "Yes," Percy answered, "I am." "That's good," Thomas said.

Soon, Thomas took Percy and the jet engine back to the yards. "Thomas," said Percy. "You don't need to say anything," Thomas replied. "I made a mistake," Percy said, "Those four engines that I keep telling you about. They're not my friends." "I can see," said Thomas.

"They've tricked me into using something that is dangerous," Percy added, "I'm sorry for causing a lot of problems today." "Well," Thomas said, "It's over now and you won't have to go through something like that ever again." "Thanks," said Percy.

The Fat Controller was waiting for the two at the goods yards. "Thomas, thank you for rescuing Percy," he said, "You have proven yourself to be a really useful engine." "I know," Thomas replied. "It's my fault," Percy said, "I've."

"Don't worry," the Fat Controller said, "Don't blame yourself. I'll do something about those four! For now, you take a rest. I know that you are really tired." "I am, sir," Percy replied as the Fat Controller walked sternly away.

"Come on, Percy," Thomas said, "Let's get you to the sheds." "All right," Percy replied. So Thomas shunted Percy into his shed where he fell asleep for a day or two.

At the same time, the four electric engines were laughing at the prank they have pulled on Percy until the Fat Controller scolded them and sent them away.

During Percy's rest, other engines took turns into doing his work. When Percy returned, he was a much happier engine."This will be the better life for me!" Percy chuffed happily. And so, his friends agreed with him.
