I loathe the sunlight about as much as I loathe her quickness to start the day. She could have just held me a bit longer, that would have been nice. But no, she's up and ready to tackle the world.
"Gracie... come back to bed, sheesh woman it's 6am." I whimpered.
"Get up girl. We've got a lot to do today." Grace urged.
I groaned but did as I was told. The morning seemed to rush by as Grace got everything in place to move us to the hallelujah mountains. With Jake's new entanglement with Neytiri, Grace thought it best to get us out of Quaritch's control. I couldn't agree more, that man was a fucking maniac.
I had only one successful time of linking to my avatar body. I loved it, however due to the trouble of remaining linked without breakage and that Jake was the main focus, my linkage was put on the back burner. I focused solely on research and doing everything I could to make Grace's life easier. Although she made it quite difficult at times.
Now that I will finally be able to link again, I'm pretty nervous. My human body reacts I bit weird in an unconscious state, I can't stay linked for longer than 10 minutes before I have a night terror in my human form and wake myself up. Grace suggested I be sedated, but she wasn't completely comfortable going to the measure with Quaritch there. At least she and I were on the same page about that, everything about that man just screamed creep.
Upon arriving to the hallelujah mountains, I helped Grace and Norm get everything set up. Norm was easy to be around, which I found refreshing. Jake wasn't that bad himself either, the man was just conceited a bit. The only other person Grace brought with was Trudy, the only part of the military that she trusted. Trudy had a kind heart, and wasn't trigger happy.
It took several hours to get everything set up and everyone on their way to their individual tasks.
"You ready to try and link up again?" Grace asked, a cigarette hanging from her mouth.
"Yes. Well I think so.. Are you going to sedate me? I would like to experience longer than 10 minutes." I said a bit annoyed.
"Well if the first two go arounds don't work we can try sedation. But honestly I think you'll have a better shot this time. Your safe here. No need to on the defensive about anything, maybe your unconscious self will realize that." She said with a wink, as she got my link unit set up for me.
"Hopefully." I agreed.
I slid myself into the unit.
"I'll see you out there ok? I'll stay back for 10 minutes to watch over this body, and then I will come join you." Grace said reassuringly.
I nodded in response as she shut the top of the unit over me.
I felt myself slowly drifting away in a few moments, and reaching the into the sensations of the impeccably blue body. I felt somehow stronger this time, a sense of calm I hadn't felt before. I knew that only could have came from Grace.
I wiggled my fingers and toes and through my legs over the bed I was laying on. Everything was so much smaller now. I felt as if I could conquer anything, and I genuinely loved that feeling.
My resting body must have received an approval from Grace, because now I heard her avatar stir in her bed adjacent from mine.
"It worked." I said smiling at her.
"I told you so." She replied.
