This chapter wasn't really good according to my standards, so a review or two can help me to improve this chapter later. Thanks!

Chapter 4: A moment of peace.

p/s: Yes, I intended to make Rei appear in this chapter, instead of showing her at the second chapter, where 'Shinji' accepted his pilot status instead of trying to decline it. Quick summary: Rei was being treated at NERV's hospital instead of being dragged out to make Shinji agree to pilot. Wait, who is tha- oh no.

*A few hours after Sachiel's defeat*

A blue-haired girl looked out the window...Wait, she's underground. Right. Saddened by the fact that she couldn't see the blue sky for a long time, Rei found herself sighing mentally. It's true that Rei couldn't feel any emotions, but she missed the peace of looking at the blue sky. It was a way to kill time whenever Rei felt bored. But now? She had to find another way to kill time.

Rei remembered the face of the man she admired. A mental image of Gendo Ikari appeared in her mind, and she smiled briefly.

She realized that she missed Commander Ikari.

It has been a long time since the last time she talked to Commander Ikari. She hoped she could heal faster, so that she could be back to duty as soon as possible. And to get out of this incredibly suffocating and boring room, too. Rei couldn't stand this place, so she tried her best not to care about the room. Right now, she needed to focus on healing. Slowly closing her eyes, Rei Ayanami tried to sleep again.

Then everything went south.

Rei Ayanami suddenly shivered, her already pale face became even paler to the point that there was almost no trace of blood left on her albino face. Her sixth sense (which she didn't even know she had one) told her that something crazy was about to happen. A drip of sweat appeared on her forehead. Bracing herself, she readied for the incoming situation. Is it an Angel? An assassin coming to take her life? Is it the white silhouette she had seen in her dreams? What will it be?

"Rei-chan! I'm here, my daughter! You must be Rei Ayanami, right?! Gah! Hello, I'm Yui Ikari, your 2% biological mom! It's a real pleasure to actually meet you in person like this!" The intruder opened the door, smiling brightly. The intruder revealed herself as a brown-haired woman whose face is exactly the same as Rei's, except that her eyes are blue instead of red like hers. Rei looked at her for a brief moment, and then...

She fainted.

The albino girl lost consciousness instantly due to a shock caused by her self-defense mechanisms, leaving the brunette woman utterly confused and scared. The last thing she heard was: "Gah! Don't leave me like that! Rei! I come here in peace! Please wake up this is getting awkward! Rei-chan! Reeeeiiiiii!"

Rei had several questions in her mind. How did Professor Yui Ikari come back to life? How did she find this room? Why did she call Rei her daughter? She wasn't able to get her answers, as her consciousness was slowly fading away. Everything seemed so far away... yet so close...

Yawning, she peacefully fell asleep. For the first time in her life, Rei Ayanami had a dream about her and a boy who looked like Commander Ikari falling in love and having two children and a house. It was indeed a bizarre dream.

"No! Not my little boy!" Yui yelped as she saw the image of Rei and Shinji carefully raising their children inside Rei's dream. It was a nightmare to her. This is forbidden love! This wasn't supposed to happen! "How the hell was she able to create such a perfect image of Shinji before actually meeting him!?"

The voice of Longinus sighed. This wasn't as easy as it thought before.

"Oh well." The mysterious voice said, accepting the situation. "We have all the time in the world anyways. Let her rest, Yui. Let's move on."

"Nooo! Rei, you're supposed to feed her, not eating the food! NOOOOOOOO-"

"Mein Gott." The voice sighed. "Give me a break already."

Opening the door, I walked in the apartment.

As expected, it's dark inside. Turning on the light, I quickly scanned the room.

"So, this is my home now, huh?"

A set of tables and chairs for the living room, a small fridge, and a kitchen in the corner. There's also a yellow couch here for some reasons. That's the bathroom, the bedroom. That's it. Simple, but sufficient for living. Other than that, it's pretty spacious here too. Perfect.

Wait a minute, I'm feeling like I had forgotten something important. Oh yeah, The SDAT!

I reached to the bag, desperately trying to find the thing. A sigh of relief escaped my mouth as I touched the cold, black SDAT player and pulled it out. It's in good shape, despite what happened today. I can't believe I almost forgot the thing! Putting the earpods in my ears, I pressed the start button.

"Now playing: Shinji's super cool music playlist." The SDAT player announced automatically in a feminine voice. I let out a small chuckle when the first song began.

Ah yes, the joy of solitude. I could feel a smile was creeping into my face again. This thing is really irreplaceable to me.

"Yubikiri genman hora demo fuitara, hari demo nande mo nomasete itadaki Monday..."(1)

I got up from my chair and started unpacking my bags, taking out my clothes and belongings and placing them on the table. A small key fell to the floor, but my mind was so busy with other things so I accidentally ignored it.

I shoved my clothes into the closet, not bothering to fold them. It would be a mess after one day anyways. I'm not a slob, I swear!

"Kagami yo kagami yo kono yo de ichiban, kawaru koto no nai ai wo kureru no wa dare. No need to ask cause it's my darling~"(2)

I went into the kitchen, standing in front of the fridge for a while before actually opening it. Nothing inside, as expected. I should go buy some foods. With this NERV ID card, I can pretty much buy enough food for the next two years. I need to use it wisely though, or else... I shuddered at the thought of having to work to pay off gambling debts. I wouldn't want that to happen.

My stomach growled like it was begging me to move and buy something to eat. Finally noticing the hunger, I decided it's the time to go out. Shutting down the SDAT, I put it on the table to start preparing. I happily opened the door and walked out...

...Only to be stopped by a blonde man in black, who was wearing black sunglasses. I fell on my butt after my head collided with the man's chest. He chuckled a bit before helping me to stand up again. I noticed a red scar on his left eye.

He offered a hand."Shinji Ikari, it's a pleasure to meet you. The name's Mark, one of the Section 2's agents who work here to protect you from all sources of dangers." Not wanting to be rude, I clumsily shook his hand. "I hope my sudden appearance didn't scare you. You have become quite a big shot in the eyes of my colleagues since you defeated the Third Angel. I'm also quite eager to meet you in person." His hand shook mine tightly, and he nodded in satisfaction.

"It's nothing, really. I have to do it in order to protect everyone." Trying to be modest, I said, scratching my head.

"Nothing? You defeated the Angel without casualties yesterday! Don't underestimate yourself, kid." He then rubbed my head and messed up my hair, but I didn't stop it. "You did a lot for us yesterday. Don't forget that. Thanks to you, our families are safe and sound."

"Thanks, I guess." Lowering my head, I muttered a 'thank you'. He beamed a smile.

"No problem. I just want to get that out before we start to discuss about your accommodation." He noticed my empty stomach, which was growling in protest. "Though I guess we can go ahead and have a snack before starting the discussion. C'mon, I will take you to somewhere to eat. Sound good?"

I nodded. I don't know much about Tokyo-03, so I'm a little afraid of getting lost. Having someone as a guide would be a good thing.

"Yes, please."

"Well, let's go then. My treat." He grinned slightly. "Hey, quick question, what's your ideal woman type?" He let out a small chuckle again.

Teasing me, huh? Tough question. I will go with...

"Nice girls with big boobs!" I shouted at the top of my lungs. He looked surprised, but then quickly flashed a bright smile.

"I knew it!" Ruffling my hair again, he laughed. "You and I are true comrades. Oh well, better start going now. You want some tanuki ramens?"

Apperently, every single agents around here are really friendly. And I liked it. They helped me to ease this feeling of loneliness inside.

Small bonus:

"Tell me more about yourself." Mark, the Section 2 agent finished his bowl of ramen and looked at me, his arms crossed.

"Me?" I raised my head, temporarily stopping eating the tanuki ramen for a moment. "Well, it's not much to talk about."

"C'mon~" Mark teased. "There must be something interesting happened in your life at some points. Everyone got some."

"I dunno." I truthfully answered. "Aside from the fact that I'm a pilot of a gigantic robot painted in purple and green to fight Angels, I'm not that much interesting. I played the cello for sometimes until I got bored and dropped it. I sometimes cook as well. Still not a very good one at that." I shrugged. "And I watched Kamen Riders for a long time. That's it."

"What about friends and stuffs? You know, before you got here. Do you have friends? I'm not trying to offend you or anything."

"Well, I guess? Mana and Mari were my first friends. They were a noisy bunch, but they were also really friendly. They moved away after I was ten. Didn't hear anything from them since."

"That sounds kinda suck, huh?"

"Yeah. They probably forgot about me anyways. It has been like, five years? I hope they are having a good life now."

"What were they like?"

"To me, they're like my little sisters, except they're both taller than me and can easily overpower me at ease. It was terrifying in some ways."

"Ouch. Was it painful?" He sounded concerned.

"You mean playing with them? If that was the case, then yes. It was kinda painful in a way. But it was fun." I tried to recall the memory. "It's a shame though."

"You sound like you three were close friends."

"Yeah, 'were'. "

"Sorry." He apologized. I shook my head.

"No, no, I'm not angry. Well, I finished my bowl. Let's go back, then?" I hastily said. Nodding, he stood up and paid for the meal.

"Yeah, everything for my comrade." He joked.

"Heh. Thanks, Mark-san."

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!"

Asuka Langley Soryu screamed and opened her eyes immidiately. Fortunately, no one was in the house at the moment, because Kaji always left for work early, Asuka felt relieved and let out a small sigh. The lights in the room were quickly turned on, and Asuka stood in front of the mirror she had in the closet. She touched her left eye.

"It really did came back. Ow." Said Asuka as she accidentally touched her left eye, causing some tear to come out. Then she suddenly realized. "Eh? Am I in my teenager form again? Ugh. That Cassius...Stupid spear!"

"Hey! You were the one started it, not me. Knock it out, redhead." A red spear appeared behind her back, which possessed a double-helical shaft and a defined spearhead implanted with a green gem. It spoke, despite not having any kinds of mouth nor vocal cords. "Aside from that, you look pretty good in that teenage body of yours. That Shinji must be a pretty lucky guy to live with you."

"Shut up, you idiot. He's none of your concern. But let's get back to the business." Asuka settled down on her couch and crossed her arms.

"Indeed." The voice suddenly became more serious, but it didn't affect the redhead at all. "So, I shall explain what happened. You time travelled to the past. That's all."

"Where did the multiverse space-time continuum part go?"

"It changed."

"You say what now?" She raised an eyebrow.

"According to my calculation, this is the end." The spear said.

"WHAT!?" Asuka stood up, shaking the table a bit. "The hell you mean 'this is the end'?!"

"Relax, it's not like this world will disappear the next day or something. It means there is no alternate world, no alternate reality after this world disappears. This is the last world of the multiverse."

"So once this world reaches its end, it will just disappear? No more reincarnation or anything?"

"Precisely. The multiverse will eventually meet its demise someday. Nothing lasts forever."

"That's a good thing then. Wouldn't want to live forever anyways." She relaxed. "So, what time are we in now?"

"After Sachiel was defeated. Wait a minute." A piece of paper suddenly appeared in the ear, and the spear looked(?) at it. "Uh, it says that Sachiel was defeated by a sudden punch of Unit 01, which was empowered by some sort of weird energy. And there was no Berserker Awakening, too."

"Let me see it." She snatched the floating paper from Cassius. "You weren't kidding. What is the meaning of this?"

"I'm clueless." The spear shrugged. "Maybe something happened. Butterfly effect, it seems."

Asuka stood in silence for a bit before rushing in the bathroom. Confused by his owner's sudden outburst, the spear named Cassius floated his way to the door.

"Hey, why the sudden outburst?" He asked with a concerning tone.

"I have to do something at NERV-Germany. I need to see the video record." Said Asuka as she hastily put her socks on.

"Alright. I will accompany you." The spear transformed into a floating pair of hair clips. "Care to put me on?"

Sighing, Asuka grumbled. "Yeah, yeah. Let's hurry up. I need to come there fast."

Slamming the door behind her, The Second Child rushed to the headquarter. She needed to know what had changed this world's fate here.

She remembered her goals. Rescue the world from Third Impact, resurrect her mother and reunite her family, and making Shinji her husb-

"Hey, why is your face so red all of a sudden?" Cassius noticed the steam rising from her head.

"Nothing!" Yelled Asuka, and her face became even redder than her hair as she tried to dismiss her thoughts. The red hair clips laughed. He knew what was going on in his owner's mind.

"Shinji, huh. I guess I should check him out when I have the chance."The spearthought, chuckling mentally. "This will be interesting."

yes, this chapter was short, I know. This was originally planned to be much more longer, but then my lazy self said :"hey, why not cutting the chapter in half and make it two chapters instead of one?" And bam, here I am.

As always, thank you for reading. You can leave a review if you want.

In response to Guest: Yes, this is indeed a crack and fix fanfiction. Thank you for your question. Yes, I know I was late, sorry for that.

Have a good day/night, everyone!

p.s: yes, (1) and (2) were references to Shinunoga E-Wa, by Fuiji Kaze. Kudos to those who realized the references.
