chapter 5 is here! I'm active now, he he.

Daily music recommadation: Ride On Right Time - Eiji Hino (C.V. Shu Watanabe).

Chapter 5: First Time.

p/s: What are your thoughts about Mari and Mana being Shinji's childhood friends? This was an interesting idea I got after re-reading Shinji Ikari Raising Project, so I thought "Why not?" and added it at the previous special bonus as a last minute stuff. I hope you guys liked it.

To Guest: Yes, I will try to write the most childish, weirdest happy ending that has ever existed. Yes, I'm boring, I know.

For now, have a good time reading!

"It has been three long weeks, hasn't it?"

Standing in front of the open window, I felt a cool breeze start to rush into my bedroom. Sipping the coffee, I silently watched the street as it was slowly being filled with people doing their daily exercise and jogging. It's 6 AM in the morning, and for some reason, I woke up sooner than I expected.

Well, today is a nice Sunday, isn't it? It's been a few weeks since Sachiel was defeated, and I'm getting used to the customs of Tokyo-3. This place is really cool when no Angel is attacking. The atmosphere here is really fresh even though the place is a huge city. And my neighborhood is very quiet, so that's another big plus.

...Something is not right. NERV hasn't called me for three week straight, aside fromSub Commander's call(a.k.a the perverted geezer) I got before I moved in. I thought they would make me train to prepare for the next Angel attack or something, but no. I got an unofficial vacation after defeating the Sachiel.

Speaking of Sachiel, well... He slept for two weeks straight, woke up last week and went right back to his slumber after telling me the next Angel is Shamshel, his sister. What a lazy bum. But at least he is in better shape now.

And I don't even know what Shamshel is capable of. How frustrating. Oh well, I can just do it like last time. Punch the core, destroy it, take the consciousness out, and done. Simple and easy to do.

Yawning, I placed the coffee cup down on the table and walked to the kitchen. Time for breakfast.

I opened the fridge and take a quick glance inside before fixing my eyes on yesterday's leftovers. I should heat it up a little bit and call it a day. Turning on the stove, I let the food warm up while going to the bathroom for a quick shower.

The warm water descended on my head, keeping myself awake. Starting from the collision of the feet with the cold ground, through the touch of the warm water drops, to the last swipe of the towel on the skin, it is an adventurous ride through the darkest places of the mind's palace-and blah blah blah. I think I should stop doing that. Grabbing the towel, I headed to the kitchen with one towel on my waist, not wearing anything under it. The smell of the heated food has already allured my hungry stomach.

"It's not like there are some cameras in here right? Since this is MY house. If I ever saw one, I'm going to have a word with that geezer and my father." I thought, quickly dismissing the anxiety of being seen naked in my own house. Wearing my clothes, I turned off the stove before serving my breakfast on several dishes.

"Okay, itadakimasu!" I grabbed my chopsticks. As I was about to eat my breakfast, my front door was opened unexpectedly, and-

"SHINJI!" The intruder was a woman dressed in her sleeveless black flapper dress with a cross necklace on her neck, holding the doorknob furiously. I unconsciously gulped. What the?

Oh no, it's Misato-san! And she is dead serious?!

"Misato-san!? I swear I had a reason to run away- ARGH!?" I was suddenly embraced in a bearhug, and my face was completely buried in her bosoms. Oh no.

"You make me so worried! We were about to send someone to look for you when the Sub Commander Fuyutsuki informed us of your whereabouts!" The lavender-haired woman used her hand to mess up my hair, causing me to grumble briefly. It was kind of fun, but I prefer not to get my hair messed up in the morning. " Don't ever run away like that again!"

"Sorry for that, Misato-san. I was kinda freaked out when Doctor Akagi enters your house, so..." I poked my fingers innocently. Misato instantly recognized what I was talking about, and she facepalmed.

"That was you? You were the one who knocked Rits out and dragged her to the couch?" I nodded. "You do know that she didn't forget about the hit, right?"

...Shit.

"Well, lucky for you, I managed to calm her down. Rits is a bit hot-headed sometimes. But still, don't tell her the truth. You might not be safe." She suddenly shifted into a serious tone before cracking a smile on her face again. "Just be careful around her, 'kay?"

"I guess..." I nodded at her words. "Still, I need to apologize to her. I can't just run away like that."

"He he, looks like someone is full of responsibility today." Misato laughed at my words."But no, don't do that. Seriously. Just wait until she forget this accident. She will probably forgive you after a while. Probably." She attempted to look at the ceiling, ignoring my confused gazes.

"Okay then. So, why did you come here?" I asked, placing my chopsticks down and pushed the food aside. "I assume that you didn't come here only to see me?"

"Aww, you hurt my feeling, Shinji-kun," She teased. "But yes, I didn't come here just to see you. I came here to announce something."

I tilted my head.

"Something? What is this 'something' you said?"

"You, Shinji, is going to school next week. Oh, also, if you meet Rei at the school, hand this over to her." Misato threw a ID card to me, and I barely caught it in time. "Her old ID card has expired. Oh, and she is the First Child, if you were wondering who she is."

"What?" I looked at the card and saw a familar face in it. This blue-haired girl? Isn't she the one I saw when I first arrived here? And I'm pretty sure she disappeared into thin air... Oh well, I must be hallucinating back then. I shouldn't think too much about it. "She is also a pilot like me?"

I was answered with a affirmative nod from Misato. Satisfied with her answer, I continued to look at the ID card.

"Shinji, Why are you staring at her picture so intensely? Falling in love already? " Misato lied on the couch and laughed. I quickly looked at the ground to avoid her face.

"N-no! I was just curious, that's all." I put the ID card inside my pocket. The shade of red still hasn't left my face. "So, when I will start going to school then?"

"Tomorrow. Don't worry, you don't have to prepare any books beforehand. They will give you once you get there." She said, still lying on the couch. "Hmm. You got any beer?"

"B-beers?" I recalled seeing packs of Yebisu beer in her fridge before. It wasn't a pretty sight. "No, I don't have any. Do you want some tea instead?"

"Oh, that's fine then. Any tea would do."

"Alright then. Wait a bit, please." I started making dandelion tea. While I was busy pouring boiled water into the teapot, Misato-san decided to take a walk around my house. She looked at my bedroom and grinned.

"No. Please don't go inside."

"Fine fine." She waved her hands. "Boys only. I know."

I smiled, bringing the tea set to the table. "The tea is ready!" I said. Misato nodded her head and sat on the wooden chair.

We continued to chat about stuffs until her phone rang. Misato pulled her phone out of her pocket and placed it on her right ear.

"Moshi moshi, Captain Katsuragi speaking. Eh? Sub Commander?" Her face turned serious suddenly. "Urgent situation? Roger." She clicked her phone and put it back in the pocket. She stood up and looked at me. "I have some business to do. See ya later, Shinji."

I waved. "Good bye, Misato-san. You are always welcome here."

"Wait, before I go, can I ask you a quick question?" She turned back to face me and looked at me.

"Yes, Misato-san?" I said. "What is it?"

"Are you happy here? I mean, after all of the things happened. Do you want to go back?"

...

"Tempting, but no. I have plenty of reasons to stay here. Beside, I'm the only Pilot active now, right?" I answered with a look of determination in my eyes. "I will continue my duties until all Angel threats are resolved."

She smiled once again before starting to run out my apartment again.

"Good answer! Bye!" She shut the door and ran. The room is now filled with loneliness again.

I sat on the couch and grabbed the coffee cup, sipping the lukewarm coffee I left on the table.

"School, huh? What a surprise. They make me pilot a gigantic robot and now expect me to do homework everyday?" I wondered. "But I should try it. It is getting boring here already."

I took out the ID card again and stared at it, before noticing a small white paper stuck behind it. Oh, this is...

"Rei Ayanami's house address? I should go there to hand her this." I took the small paper out and read it. Huh, she lives quite far away. Oh well, let's go there now, it's not like I'm busy or anything.

"I wonder what she's like." Putting in my shoes, I opened the door. "She's also quite pretty, too."

Shinji's 2nd adventure in Tokyo-3, onward!

*grumble~*

...I should finish my breakfast first.

"I'm totally lost..." said me, as I sat down on a park's bench.

Just what the hell is this place anyways? A maze? Is this an intentional design to distract the Angels? Grgh, wait until I get my hands on the guys who designed this city...

No, must stay focused. I'm sure I can ask someone for directions here. I scanned the area around me- .Wait a minute. I settled my eyes on the arcade sitting at the corner.

Is this real? I pinched my cheeks. It hurts.

So my eyes weren't fooling me! That IS an arcade!

"You know, I have plenty of time to spare, so..." I grinned. "Let's go!"

Forgetting my task momentarily, I dashed into the arcade with a big smile on my face. After all, I'm still a teenager! Heh heh heh heh...

"He he, Street Puncher X. This might be the best day of my life." I looked at the machine admiringly for a moment before someone called to me.

"Hey, who are you, new kid?" A loud hello came from behind, startling me. His voice was grumpy for some reason.

"Chill, Toji. He just showed up today, man." Another voice came from behind, causing the guy who greeted to go silent.

"Yeah yeah, whatever you say, Ken."

"Eh?" I turned back and faced them. A black-haired jock in his normal exercise school clothes, and a military nerd wearing his glasses and a pair of green military pants. His hands are also busy with a camera for some reason. They were both looking at me curiously.

Feeling the urges to introduce myself, I bowed while holding a hand forward. "My name is Shinji Ikari! Nice to meet you two! I hope we can become great friends!"

They seemed to be surprised, but they quickly regained their composure. The jock guy broke the ice, clumsily reaching out to my hand and grabbing it.

"Sure, new guy. I'm Toji. This guy over here is Kensuke, your typical military nerd." He put an arm over the other boy's shoulder. "He might be annoying at first, but he's a good guy. Nice to meet 'cha too, Shinman."

Kensuke pushed his glasses up and shook my hand. "Yeah, what he said is true. The name is Aida Kensuke. I assume that you're new here?" I nodded. "You just moved here?" Another nod. Satisfied, he whispered to Toji something, while I was staring at them confusedly.

"So, newb!" Kensuke quickly clapped his hands after done whispering to Toji. "Welcome to Tokyo-3, Shinji! You wanna play with us?"

"Yeah, the more the merrier!" Toji chimed in, his excitement was leaking out. "This arcade is the real deal, y'know? There are so many things to do here!"

"Sure!" I said, and joined them. The three of us then spent the morning playing arcades. I gotta admit, it was really fun.

"Ah! I almost forgot to go find Rei!"

Kensuke and Toji looked at me in surprise, as I suddenly remembered my original objective. Groaning slightly, I sighed.

"Wait, you know the Ice Queen?" Kensuke asked. "You mean Rei Ayanami?"

"Rei Ayanami, yes. I was following my boss's order to give her ID card."

"Wait, you work for NERV? The organization that operates those EVAs?" Kensuke excitedly opened his mouth in awe, his eyes were glistening like stars.

"You can say it like that." I nodded.

Toji facepalmed. "Shin-man, you just dug a hole for yourself." He sighed. I tilted my head in confusion.

Before I realized it, Toji placed a hand on Kensuke's left shoulder and gripped it firmly. "Don't even think 'bout it, Ken. You wanna be on their watchlist or somethin'?"

"B-but..." The military nerd sulked.

"It's not worth it, man."

"Fine." Kensuke grumbled under his breath. "But some small questions wouldn't hurt, right, Shinji?"

"I-I guess?" I answered hesitantly. Kensuke beamed a smile so bright that it hurt my eyes. "But not now, sorry.(The nerd clicked his tongue in disappointment.) Can you guys show me the way to her house? I have the address, but this place is a maze. I couldn't find the way."

"Sure, man!" Toji put his hands behind his neck. "I agree on that maze part. Took me a while to even get familiar with this place. Let's go, then?"

"Woo! We are about to go to Ayanami's place!" Said Kensuke enthusiastically. "I bet her house is a mansion! You know, since her skin is so pale, it's definitely because she hasn't been out of the house much since she was a child!"

"Ayanami is a daughter of a rich family, huh? Interesting guess." Toji rubbed his chin. "Then why is her house near the abandoned area? I heard this place was about to be demolished a few days ago, but they haven't done anything since. And I haven't heard anything about her parents since the day she joined our class."

"Now that you mentioned it, it's strange indeed." Kensuke also rubbed his chin. "Is it possible that her family abandoned her here?"

"No way, now that's just plain cruel." Toji chimed in. "But when you talked it like that, it did made sense. She wasn't talking much too. I feel pity for her."

"What was that, Toji? I thought you and Class Rep is already a thing?" Kensuke used his elbow to poke the jock. "Wanting to two-timing already?"

"S-shut up, Ken!" Toji quickly blushed and chopped Kensuke on his head. "Me and Class Rep have nothin' to do with this!"

"He he. Just wanna tease you a bit." Kensuke looked up from the map he pulled out of his pocket. Toji was still mumbling something underneath his breath. "Let's go, Shinji, Toji. The place isn't that far."

"Sure!" We all agreed.

Tap, tap. The faucet was turned on, letting cold water run down her hair.

Rei Ayanami didn't bother to wash her hair, because her only bottle of shampoo ran out yesterday. But she didn't mind that. Right now, what she needs is a good shower to clean away her thoughts.

After she was discharged from the hospital, she didn't see Professor Yui Ikari again, so she came to the conclusion that her seeing the Commander's wife come back to life was a hallucination, a side effect of the drugs she took. However, she can recall her conversation with the Professor (if it could be called a conversation in the first place). She felt like it was a dream, a lucid dream. It was so real.

But that wasn't the main thing that bothered Rei. She was thinking about the first dream she ever had after her(fake?) talk with Mrs Ikari.

In that dream, she was dating someone who looked like Commander if he was in his youth. He was a boy, a shy teenager. Honest, caring, and cute is what she(the one in her dream) could use to describe her boyfriend. They fell in love, had a child and a house. Then, every night, they would do something to each other-

Rei wondered why every time she tried to remember that part of dream, she always blushed for some reason. And it felt weird, too. She will ask this to Doctor Akagi later.

Tap, tap. The water faucet closed. Grabbing a clean towel, she began to clean herself, but stopped suddenly when she heard the sound of her front door being opened.

"Anyone home? Hello? Rei, Rei Ayanami? I'm here to deliver your stuff!"

It was the exact voice she heard in her dream.

After a few minutes, we arrived to the building mentioned in the paper.

"Is this really her house, Shin-man?" Toji asked. "This is not what I had expected. This is a god damn abandoned building!"

Kensuke nodded in agreement. They didn't expect this coming, huh? Me neither. Why did they let one of the most important people of NERV living in this place?

I re-read the paper. Nodding sadly, I confirmed the truth. "Unfortunately, yes, this is the place."

"No kidding. This place is giving me the creep, man." Toji was suddenly scared for some reason. "Maybe we should head back. Something is wrong here."

Kensuke looked at his friend in surprise. It seemed that this was the first time he saw his friend so scared. He turned back to me as if he was begging for an excuse to leave the place with Toji. He didn't know what was in there, but he decided to play along with Toji.

"You guys can leave if you want. Beside, it's late already." I pointed at the sun which was was slowly setting on the other side of the mountain. Kensuke immediately recognized my hint and nodded quietly, before holding Toji's right hand and dragging him running away.

"Thanks, Shin-man!" This time Kensuke thanked me and dragged Toji away, waving goodbye. I also waved back while cracking a small smile on my face, before turning my attention to the building once again.

Taking in a deep breath, I walked in. As I was making my way through the dark corridor, I noticed the absence of light bulbs and the shattered glass under my feet, so I carefully avoided the debris by taking a broom that I see here and sweeping it into a corner.

Seriously, this house is terrible condition. Someone could have been hurt if they weren't careful here.

I noticed a door at the end of the hallway, so I walked to it. There was also a dim light inside the room. Someone is in there?

"Anyone home? Hello? Rei, Rei Ayanami? I'm here to deliver your stuff!" I shouted. No respond. I sneakily crawled to the door and put my palms on the doorknob.

"Ready or not, here I come!" I opened the door, revealing what was inside the room.

I was immediately greeted with ominous darkness, with moonlight being the only thing that helped me see the room. I quickly noticed something was off here.

"Strange... This place is a total mess. It seemed like someone was just in here. " I looked around, trying to see if anyone was inside.

The bathroom is closed. Okay. Wait, no living room? And the kitchen is quite small." Opening the fridge, I saw a bunch of medicines instead of foods and drinks. I closed it in dismay and walked out of the kitchen. I set my eyes on the small dresser top and saw a thing that wasn't supposed to be here.

"Hmm... Oh, a pair of broken glasses? Looks like Father's glasses." I picked up said item and looked at it curiously. "What is this thing doing here?"

It was a pretty high quality one, I'd say. The glasses were tinted in orange for some reason. After inspecting the pair of glasses, I tried to put it on me.

"Huh. This thing is pretty cool."

"Pilot Ikari."

"EH?!"

Who was that?! I saw the bathroom's door was opened, and...

"Sorry!" I quickly stormed out of the room and slammed it.

I will not say that I saw Rei Ayanami in her birthday suit covered with a towel. "Please, Ayanami, put something on so that we can talk without being awkward! Sheesh! That's not a thing girls should do, showing guys their bodies like that! Hey, you hear me- What!? Why the hell are you still naked?!"

The door was opened to my surprise, and Rei Ayanami(still being naked like a peeled banana) walked out and stared at me. She quickly snatched the pair of glasses from my face, causing me to groan slightly.

"What the hell, Ayanami!? Go put on your clothes! Are you shameless!?"

"This is my property, Pilot Ikari. I can't afford to lose it." She held the glasses firmly, but enough to not break it in her hand.

"Whatever!" I looked at another direction and covered my eyes by both hands. "Just put on some damn clothes for god's sake! This is not funny, Ayanami!"

"I find the situation is normal?"

"No, it isn't! Just do it!"

After a moment of silence, she walked back in the room again. Looks like she finally realized what was wrong with her.

"You done yet, Ayanami?" I opened my eyes and called to her.

"I am, Pilot Ikari." The blue-haired girl walked out of the room and stared at me. She was wearing a school uniform?

"Why is she wearing some sort of school clothes?" I wondered. "No, no. Let's finish this swiftly and go home. No more fooling around."

"Sooo uh, I came here to hand you this." I put the ID card out and placed it on her hand. "Here. The old ID card has expired, so Misato- I mean Captain Katsuragi told me to give you this new one."

"Thank you, Pilot Ikari." Ayanami bowed her head.

"No problem. Oh, you can just call me Shinji instead. You don't have to call me like that. It's embarrassing."

"Affirmative, Pilot Ikari. I will call you Shinji as you wish." Her face reddened a bit, but I pretended not to notice it. "But you must call me by my name too."

"Alright, Rei it is." Her face was even redder than before, but once again I pretended not to not notice it.

We sat in an comfortable silence for a while, both of us sitting on her bed. Rei was staring at me as if she was looking at an alien, scanning my body with her eyes. I decided not to care about it, so I looked at her room once again.

..Yep, it's messy. And dirty, too. Seriously, who make her live at this place?

"Say, Rei, why did you live here? This place is not for living, you know? Too cramped and dirty. Look at that." I pointed at a a hole on the ceiling. There was something crawling inside, but I didn't want to make Rei freak out, so I left out that part and went straight to the point. "You should consider moving to somewhere that has a better living condition."

"The Commander has chosen this apartment for me. Also, the apartment had proven to satisfy my needs."

"...what?"

My father put this girl in this place?

"When you said The Commander, you mean my father, right?"

"Y-yes." Her voice trembled for some reason, but she still looked at me, though nervous.

Sighing, I said. "I will have a word with him later regarding this matter. For now, you and I will clean the apartment, and I guarantee that this will be the last night you live in this place." She was sweating nervously for some reason.

"No, I'm not making you becoming a homeless person or anything. Tomorrow, I will go talk to my father about your situation, okay? I'm sorry that my father was a douchbag." I stood up and bowed to her apologetically.

"N-no, it's not the Commander's fault-" Rei was interrupted by an sudden alert.

"ALERT: ANGEL ATTACK. I REPEAT, ANGEL ATTACK. PLEASE EVACUATE TO THE NEAREST SHELTER POSSIBLE. DO NOT LEAVE YOUR SHELTER UNTIL THE THREAT IS RESOLVED. I REPEAT-"

It's an Angel? Really? Right now? And I thought I will be able to sleep peacefully tonight...

Special Bonus:

"Achoo!" Shigeru Aoba sneezed on his magazine. Wiping the sticky stuff off his favorite book to read, he sighed.

"Aoba, what's the matter? Why are you looking so grim?" His fellow Lieutenant buddy Makoto Hyuga asked, concerned by his colleague's sudden change of expression.

"No idea." Shigeru Aoba sneezed again. "It's the fifth time this morning. I don't remember catching any cold. And I think someone is ignoring us on purpose."

"Really? That's weird, y'know." Makoto sat down on a chair. "I also have this feeling for a while now. Don't know where it came from though."

"You both should go check the hospital. It's important to take care of your health, Aoba, Makoto." Maya Ibuki said as she settled down her working place, placing her pink laptop on the table. "Funny, you guys also have that feeling too? Wait, who are they?" She pointed at the three women who were giggling about something, but she was not close enough to hear what they were talking about.

"Oh, they are the newbies who tranferred from a different branch of NERV. That one over there is Aoi Mogami, the technician responsible of Melchior, one of the three head supercomputer we called MAGI." Makoto pointed at the slightly purple-haired woman in her glasses. He then pointed at the short-haired woman who has a friendly face. "She is Kaede Agano, another technician responsible for Balthasar."

"And that one is Satsuki Ooi, half Japanese half Russian, in charge of Casper," Aoba chimed in, pointing at the woman with nice long hair. "Love vodka and alcahol, but she's way better than Captain Katsuragi when she's drunk." The two Lieutenants looked at him in disbelief.

"Aoba, you know them before?" Maya asked.

"We talked before. Yes, and?" Makoto was about to say something, but decided to shut his mouth. Aoba rolled his eyes.

"Relax, Makoto. Captain Katsuragi and I is no lovey-dovey, rest assured." Aoba jokingly said, and He was welcomed with a relieved sigh from the First Lieutenant with glasses. "And I was expecting something else."

"Like what, a sudden end to our conversation?" Makoto sat down on his chair and started clearing his glasses with his coat. "Huh. An Angel could do the trick."

"You know what I'm thinking?" Makoto raised his eyebrows when he heard his friend's words. "This whole Angel invading stuff might be resolved in some crazy way. Remember our first encounter with an Angel?" He nodded silently.

"Yeah, that was too easy. Too easy that I think something would go wrong the next time we fight an Angel." Aoba chuckled.

"That Shinji kid was impressive. How he reached to 1200% with Unit 01 for a split second is beyond me. And that's his first time piloting an Eva." Makoto shrugged. "He also managed to negate that Angel's A.T Field, and Chief Akagi was staying up all night to find an answer to that."

"Really? Man, that must be tough for the higher-ups. I'm glad that we can just be right here, monitoring the epic battles between mankind and Angels with no eyes on me." Makoto said, throwing the new guitar magazine that he bought on the way to work. "Here. I bought it just like you said."

"Sweet. But I will read it later. Thank you." He stuffed the magazine into his desk's drawer. He turned its eyes on the computer and instantly paled.

"What is it again, Aoba?" Maya Ibuki looked up to her collague, who quickly shook his head.

"Pattern Blue. An Angel has arrived." His words were more than enough to end their conversation. They soon relaid their eyes to the screen, alerting other NERV's members, who quickly evacuated to their shelters.

"Captain Katsuragi and Chief Scientist Akagi are on their way. Prepare for the worst."

"Aoba, that sounded cringe."

"Shut your mouth, Makoto. You are the one to talk."

Another day, another chapter. Shamshel is on the way, and the plot has escalated quickly. Oh well, a little tweak here and then couldn't hurt, right?

Anyways, thanks for reading! You can leave a review if you want to suggest anything or point out some errors in this chapter.

Have a great day/night, everyone!

extra note: Oh, and Gendo is not forgotten. I will let you know that I didn't skip the SEELE's meeting with Gendo by accident. This will be explained in later chapters.
