When the following day came around, Saphira woke up rather late in the morning as she had no reason to get up early now. She could take her time and just enjoy waking up rather than needing to get up and go for the day. She smiled as she saw the light of the sun filtering into the room and she stretched out her limbs. She rolled over to have a look at her phone, and she sat up when she saw a text message from Optimus.

'I apologize for not responding sooner, Saphira. I assure you we will be home for your birthday. I am afraid we still have our current mission, and it seems like Sideswipe, Dino and Chromia may not be present. Bumblebee, Ironhide and Barricade have all stated they will come back home once we know we can. I hope you will have a restful week.'

Saphira could not help but smile. While she was sad not all of them would make it, she was happy that most would be. She felt a surge of happiness, though she knew it may not happen on the day. She reread the text a few more times before she kissed the screen for a moment and began to type a text in response to him.

'Thanks for letting me know, Optimus. I am going to be a little busy today, so I won't be able to text all the time today. But I am looking forward to my birthday. And I hope you and I will find time to spend together too.'

She sent the text and laid there in her bed for a little longer before she made herself get up to head downstairs to make some breakfast. She brought her phone with her as she wanted to contact the attorney about what time she should meet him to discuss the inheritance. She saw it was nearly nine in the morning due to sleeping in.

She settled on trying up some eggs and making toast. She didn't feel like making pancakes, so she wanted something that was easy and filling to make. Once she had finished cooking the food, she sat at the table quietly with the letter from the attorney and dialled the number that was on the letter. She didn't know who this person was, but she was glad he kept her grandfather's wealth and estate safe.

After a few rings, someone picked up. "You're speaking with Andrew Holmes, how may I help you?"

"Morning Andrew, this Saphira Dawn," She said in a less than confident tone. "Are you Everett Dawn's attorney?"

"Ah, Saphira!" The man said happily as soon as he knew who she was. "I am pleased you called me. I was not sure if my message had gotten to you, but it looks like it did. Anyway, I am in town for a few days as you and I have to discuss Everett's will and inheritance. Do you think you can come speak with me today?"

"Yes, of course! What time would suit you best? I can come around at any time today." Saphira thought about the farmhouse she used to spend time at with her grandparents and how much fun she had. "You mentioned in the letter you're at one of the law firms too."

"Correct, I'm at the Washington Law Firm PLLC. If you can meet me at around one this afternoon, I will have everything ready for you, Miss Dawn. I want the process to be as smooth as possible."

Saphira smiled as that gave her a few hours to do something else. "I will see you there at one, Mr Holmes. I hope you won't have a terribly busy day."

The man gave an amused laugh. "You're my only client today before I head back to my own state of Texas. Thankfully, it will be a chill day. I'll see you later."

The man hangs up and Saphira smiled as she put the phone down, feeling happy that she would get to speak to him later. She finished off her breakfast and cleaned up the kitchen before heading upstairs to get changed. It felt nice to change into something casual rather than a uniform, and it definitely was going to help to relax for the day. She considered spending the day cleaning the house so it would be nice when she does leave it.

Though after she got changed, she was brushing her hair when she heard her phone buzzing. She picked it up and answered it. "Hello, Saphira speaking."

"Saphira, you need to come to base," Ratchet's exhausted voice responded, much to Saphira's surprise. "Something has happened. The twins, they are dead."

"What?" Saphira gasped in shock and her brush was sitting in her hair, mid stroke, as she didn't believe at first what she had just heard. "What do you mean, that Skids and Mudflap are dead?"

"It is exactly what I said. You need to come here. We might be able to rescue them, but…I don't know. I need you to help." She felt a sense of panic all of a sudden and she rushed to put her hair up in a ponytail. "You will be told what happened to them when you get here, but quite a few soldiers who were with the twins on their mission perished as well…so I really am not sure if we can help them."

"I am on my way, Ratchet!" Saphira grabbed her keys and ran down the stairs. "I will do what I can to help save those two young bots. I imagine we will need the Matrix to revive them though." She knew this was not the ideal way for Optimus to return from his mission, but this could be something to take him away from his current mission.

"Thank you, Saphira. I will see you shortly." Ratchet hangs up as Saphira reached her car and opened the garage.

She got in and starts the car before reversing out and driving quickly to the base to assist Ratchet with the two autobots. She did somewhat how she would keep her clearance so she could help Ratchet since she was the only human who could even help Ratchet with any kind of emergencies that required medical aid for autobots. That would be another reason why she would want to keep her clearance with the autobots.

All thoughts about her grandfather's will and inheritance was gone at this point. There were two individuals who needed her help, and meeting with the attorney might have to wait. She arrived at the base and drove over to Ratchet's lab, parking outside the hangar and running inside. She was met with the sight of a panicked Ratchet and Wheeljack with the two bots on the med berths. She glanced around at the crowd of soldiers around, looking up with worry.

A few were surprised to see Saphira run over to Ratchet. "I am here, Ratchet! Who am I tasked with helping first?" She glanced between Skids and Mudflap as she didn't know who she would help with first.

Ratchet leaned down to pick her up and lifts her up onto the berth he was in front of. She looked at Skids's body and saw that his chassis had been blasted opened by a powerful weapon. She walked closer and there were so many energon lines damaged and the important arteries were bleeding a lot of energon.

"Um…Ratchet…" She looked up at him sadly. "Uh…is this even possible to repair?" She looked back at the dead bot. His limbs looked like they were only just hanging on and the right side of his face was gone. "This feels very much out of my skill level."

Ratchet looked at her with a sad expression. "Mudflap can't be saved. He was sliced in half by a decepticon." She widened her eyes and Ratchet rolled over a trolley with some gloves and tools on it. "We might be able to save Skids. I will guide you on what to do, and I'll do the rest."

Saphira looked at Skids sadly before grabbing the gloves and put them over. Ratchet grabbed his tools and she saw he was starting with the bot's head. He gestured for Saphira grab the welder and began to guide her on how to repair the chassis. They couldn't help repair the energon veins without his chassis being repaired, so that is what Saphira was tasked with doing. She put on protective glasses and got to work with Ratchet guiding her on what to do.

Saphira did hold out hope that they could save Skids. She felt horrible that Mudflap likely could not be save due to how he was killed, though they might save his brother. If they could not, at least they would have tried. It was better than not doing anything at all. She did learn how they were attacked. Skids and Mudflap were with a small team of soldiers exploring northern areas of Africa when they had been ambushed by decepticons. They were unable to identify the decepticons who attacked them, but it was really fast and both twins did not stand a chance, almost the entire team died. Only a few men survived and were able to get them out of the country.

Saphira thought that was peculiar since Galloway had gone to South Africa, according to Mearing. She decided it was just a coincidence, and it was unlikely he had anything to do with this. But it definitely was something of interest to her. Though she kept those thoughts to herself as she focused on trying to save the young autobot.

It took several hours, but after Saphira fixed the chassis, she and Ratchet attempted to repair the energon veins. However, as they worked on the veins, Ratchet realized that the remaining veins had been fried. She didn't know how that was possible, but Ratchet explained that energon veins can be burned through the entire bot's body by use of a simple attack. The decepticons who attacked the autobots used a particular blast from their weapons to fry Skids's veins to the point that it would have killed Skids, not the impact to his chassis. This meant he could not be saved.

Saphira felt really sad that they could not save the twins. As much as the twins had been annoying assholes at times, she did like them. It was not something she had wanted to happen so close to her birthday. She sat on the berth as Ratchet and Wheeljack make the bodies of the twins decent so they could be given a proper farewell later when Optimus returns. He had been informed and news was received that Lennox and the team should return in a day or two.

Saphira worried that the decepticons might try and target the autobots one-by-one. She knew that Chromia was out on her own mission with some soldiers too. "Do you think it is a bad idea that the autobots are so spread out around the world, Ratchet?"

The medic shrugged a little and looked at her. "I am not sure. I am afraid it is a decision that has been made by the human leaders of your world, not by us. If Optimus was calling the shots, there's a chance he would prefer if there were bigger groups of autobots together to reduce the amount of lives lost. And Chromia is the other bot I know who is on her own mission."

"This sucks!" She turned and smiled as she saw Wheelie and Brains, they had arrived at the lab before to try and help. Though they too could not help Skids. "If only we knew where all of them damn cons were, we could probably snuff out their sparks by now."

"Yeah, better than being picked off like flowers in the meadow," Brains added in agreement. "Not the best way to end your stay at nest." He smiled at Saphira as he approached her. "At least you won't be around as much to hear about all this stuff. Though I know the big OP will try and spend time with you whenever he has the time." She nodded and looked away from the two scrap bots. "Don't feel too bad, Saphira. You did your best."

"Yeah, the twins would be grateful for your efforts," Wheelie said confidently. "While Mudflap definitely could not have been saved, at least you tried to help with Skids. Do not feel too bad, Saphira. You did what you could, just as when Ratchet tried to save Jazz a long time ago."

Saphira still wished Jazz was around. She barely knew the bot, and he seemed like a fun bot to be around. She took a deep breath and looked at the two bots. "You are right. I still feel sad…I did just lose two family members again." She sniffled a little as a couple tears fall from her eyes. "I'll miss their stupid antics."

"You and me both, Saphira," Ratchet said gently as he walked over to her with a sad smile. "I am going to miss them too." He leaned against the berth and sighed deeply. "When Optimus returns in a couple days, we will have a ceremony for them. I know this isn't the most ideal week, but we can't really choose when things like this happen."

"I know." Saphira felt awful. She glanced at the time and saw it was eleven thirty. She sighed as she knew she had to leave. "And I…um…is it okay if I leave?" She looked at the bot as he looked at her. "I kind of just wanted to do some cleaning today. Nothing that special…and I am not sure what more I can do here."

Ratchet smiled at her and moved his hand to her to help her down from the berth. "It is okay, Saphira. I am sorry that you had to be pulled back here for a tragedy. Thank you for trying." She stepped onto his hand and he lowered her to the ground. "Go on and try to enjoy the rest of the day."

She nodded and walked away, feeling sad and guilty as she knew that she was going to speak with Andrew soon about her grandfather's will. She wasn't really caring about the money, but she was extremely interested in what his work involved. She knew it was likely with the transformers, but given that it must be secret enough that she hasn't even had government agents speak to her about Everett, aside from pictures Mearing was able to find during the days he served. So whatever it was, it was secret.

She drove out of the base to head into the city to the law firm. Her mind was really racing at the moment as a lot of thoughts were flying through her head. She had no idea on what to expect, and as she lost two friends, she let some more tears fall from her eyes. She didn't have the tightest bond with the twins, but she still liked them. They did have a hand in saving Optimus's life after all. And she felt like she failed in returning the favor.

It too an hour to get into the city and locate the law firm. She made sure she looked decent before she got out of the car and walked towards the front door of the firm's office. When she walked in, she made her way towards the receptionist. She did wonder how the firm felt about a random attorney turning up, but she would like to assume that he was well known among the lawyers to respect him and give him a spare room.

"Excuse me." The woman looked up from the computer and smiled at Saphira. "I am here to see a Andrew Holmes. Is he here at this time?"

The woman nodded and began to type. "He arrived at the firm about fifteen minutes ago. You must be Miss Dawn." Saphira nodded affirmatively with a smile. "Excellent. I will let him know that you have arrived. Please take a seat and Mr Holmes should come out very soon."

Saphira took a seat and waited quietly. She grabbed out her phone as she had not checked to see if Optimus had sent any text. There was nothing. She sighed deeply, guessing maybe he was focused on finishing their mission to get back as soon as possible. She wished these were not the circumstances that would bring him home earlier before her birthday. This was not what she had wanted.

She was only waiting for a few minutes when she saw a mid aged man in a black suit walk out with a smile. He had light brown hair, brown eyes and prescription glasses. "Miss Dawn…" Saphira stood from her seat as he extended his hand to her. "It is a pleasure to meet you." They shake hands for a moment as he spoke. "Please, come with me."

Saphira followed the man happily into an office. "I am thankful that you were able to keep my grandfather's wishes intact, Mr Holmes. Especially when…uh…that incident with my face being plastered everywhere."

The man smiled at her as he sat down and grabbed out a folder. "I may not know the entirety of the reasons behind that, Miss Dawn. However, I assure you, I am your grandfather's attorney for a reason. Everett was a brave, kind soul working with a group of people in the world who are in charge of something spectacular. You will likely meet the last colleague of his after you turn eighteen."

She was surprised that this man knew a thing about that. "I am surprised that you know."

"As I said, I am Everett's attorney for a reason." He opened the folder and Saphira immediately saw the will cliped to the side. "You probably guessed this, but your parents tried to contest the will. Thankfully, they were not able to. I made sure Everett had the will structured so they could not touch it. They tried again when you were made out to be a fugitive for the decepticons."

She rolled her eyes. She was not surprised that they would try again. "Jack and Lisa are just salty. I honestly do not feel sorry for them, especially since they really did not do much for me when I was growing up. They can keep living like they have for all I care."

The man smiled at her. "Would you like to read the will?" She looked at it and nodded. He pulled it out and hands it to her to read. "I am not sure how much you are aware of Everett's wealth, but he really had quite the bank size. With him being gone for many years, and interest building up, there is a lot more in the bank than what he originally left you."

Saphira did not respond as she read the will. Once she finished, she saw that her parents had only received a hundred dollars each. Whereas she received his entire estate and the wealth he left behind. She saw the amount was not stated on the document, though she saw ten properties listed. Though as this was not the inventory of estate, assets and bank information, Saphira could not see where these properties were or the amount of wealth she would receive.

She looked up at Andrew with a smile. "I am pleased he was able to cover himself and give my parents the minimal. They really should have received a dollar, and that is being generous." The man chuckled a little. "Is there an inventory of estate?"

"Here." He hands her the next piece of document and she read through it. "This was the piece your parents weren't able to see. As the information for them was in the will. Everything else is for you. And I also have the keys and information for all the properties that your grandfather owned."

Saphira's eyes widened as she stared at the amount she was receiving. "Wait…I knew my grandfather was a multimillionaire, but…" She clenched her eyes shut and opened them again in disbelief. "But he has a hundred million dollars?!"

"That was the amount in the bank at the time." She looked up at Andrew as she thought she was in a dream. "As I said, with interest, that amount likely has doubled or more during this time. Five years is a considerable amount of time for money to grow."

Saphira was just shocked and she looked back at the document. She was in disbelief. She had no idea he was that wealthy. Everett was always so humble. He never had a thread of snobbiness in him, so this definitely was something she was not expecting. She looked at the ten properties listed under his ownership, and she was surprised to learn he had a property in London and a property in Paris. She knew he used to travel when he was younger, but he stopped so he could spend time with her and her grandmother.

"I had no idea he had properties in England and Paris…that's pretty cool…" Saphira smiled slightly. She could just imagine herself in Paris with Optimus. Now that would be a dream she would want to come true. "I knew he had the holiday house in Florida and Alaska…and I think he always had this one in Hawaii…but he always preferred that farmhouse."

Andrew nodded. "Yeah, though the house is a bit rundown at the moment. You'll probably need to get someone to fix it up, but the other houses are well cared for." Saphira nodded as she looked at the last four properties. She saw there was a penthouse in New York, an apartment in Las Vegas and two other countryside houses in Texas.

"Wow…I really am in shock," Saphira said as she stared at all the assets she would own. "Geez…I am not even sure if I will want all of these properties. I kind of just want my grandfather's farmhouse and sell the rest…well, except the ones in London and Paris, maybe."

The man chuckled softly as he completely understood Saphira's level of shock. "I am sure it will be a major lifestyle change. Though you grandfather lived quite a nice life even if he chose a humble house over a big mansion. But he did spend big in other areas, I suppose."

She nodded and placed the inventory of state on the desk as she did not know what else to think. "To be honest, I have already a decent amount of money in my account right now. I just did not expect this much more."

Andrew held out a folder and a mahogany box out to her. "The keys to the properties are in the box, and the folders holds all of his bank details, property documentations to put them under your name and their addresses."

She took the folder and box, holding them like they were the most precious thing that she had. "Thank you, Mr Holmes…I have absolutely no words." She smiled at him. "I really appreciate how you have ensured that my grandfather's last wish was not tarnished. I might keep you in my corner if I ever need help."

"And I will gladly work with you, Saphira. It has been a pleasure meeting you, young lady. I know you will need time to adjust and get things sorted, and while I know you are not exactly eighteen, Everett told me to give this to you just before your eighteenth." He stood from his chair and she stood up, and she was overcome with emotions again as tears fill her eyes. "I have no doubt Everett will be proud of you, Miss Dawn."

She swallowed and smiled at him. "I know. And thank you again, Mr Holmes. It has been a pleasure meeting you. I am sure I will see you again."

They shake hands again and Saphira walked to the door to leave the office. "Have a pleasant week, Miss Dawn. Take it easy."

She nodded as she left the office and made her way out of the law firm. She really needed to sit down and wrap her head around what she was set to receive. After all, it was a lot to process. Plus, Saphira knew she would likely find out who Everett's colleague is soon. She did not know if she should be nervous or excited yet, but she was still very curious. She did think about the properties in London and Paris. Maybe they were locations he went to for his work. She was not sure. She knew he had a connection in England once before, maybe they were still alive. For the moment, she had to return home to just think before anything else.
