Saphira had returned to the house with all of the documentations for the inheritance and keys for the properties. She sat in the living room with it all on the table, staring at it all in disbelief. She had never thought her grandfather had been that wealthy. She did not know what work he did, but whatever it was, it was lucrative. And it was the same work he had asked her to do when she was thirteen. She wished she knew that secret, it would make things easier in her mind. But maybe it would not either.
She definitely was going to need a day to process this information. And she was certain that when she arrived at the farmhouse and discovered what her new job would be, she would need time to process that as well. It certainly was going to be a massive lifestyle change in terms of wealth, but Saphira was used to living a simpler life. And she would likely be more like Everett. He might have really nice holiday homes, but she would live simply. She considered selling the other two farmhouses, as she would not likely use them.
But she had to think about it first and maybe go out the next day to process everything to access the wealth and have the properties put into her name. Right now, she had a lot of things going through her mind. Not just over the death of the twins, but also wondering what her grandfather did after his time serving in the military. She almost wanted to just take the keys and go to Texas right now. Though she would have to fly to Texas to get to the farmhouse, and she knew it.
Maybe I should start packing…
Even though Optimus has yet to return, she felt like she should make a start. Her new life was going to start soon. Again. She couldn't help but chuckle. She could count how many times on her fingers her life has taken a complete one-sixty. First, she met the autobots and she was pulled into saving the world from the decepticons, then she decided she would go to college to try and live a normal life, only for the decepticons to drag her back and Optimus was killed. It was at that point she had realized the feelings she had felt for Optimus were more than she had thought, and she used her determination to bring him back. And during these last six months, whenever he could, she and Optimus would spend time together and he would send little gifts.
And now, her life would change again, and not just because of the wealth. She no longer would be under NEST's protection, and she would have a job that had already been prepared for her to take on. And given the locations of the houses, Optimus would need to travel just to see her in Texas. She hummed and thought about buying a place in Washington, as she also considered selling the properties in New York and LA as well, she wasn't going to use them. At least, she did not think so.
But I will at least be Prime's sparkmate…that's another life change I have to deal with too.
She was excited for that and she squeezed her thighs together at the very thought of completing the bond. She has not really been told the exact details of what it is like to be a sparkmate to an autobot, but she did not mind. She wanted to find out, and she could not wait. She thought about how she would make it special for the both of them. It would be the first time they would actually be physically intimate, and she was nervous and excited for it at the same time.
Deciding it was best to start packing, Saphira made her way upstairs to grab her suitcases to begin packing her clothes. She did know she did not want to celebrate her birthday in this house, as much as it was nice. Sitting in the patio jacuzzi did sound like an ideal way to spend time with Optimus, but she did want to go to her grandfather's farmhouse. And she knew that it would be just as special of a time there.
Though as she was packing, she realized something. She had very little clothes that would show off her figure. She had not realized that until now. She used to be rather happy with the clothes she had, but she realized now she wanted something else. While she and Optimus may never go out and have a nice meal together, she knew that they could still do something in private. She thought about it and figured she might even go shopping.
After packing most of her clothes already, she grabbed her laptop to check out some of the online stores to see what they might have. She even began to look through lingerie and other sleepwear stores, as she decided while she liked her current pyjamas, she needed to have something more special. Especially for her birthday, and she just happened to start daydreaming as she went through looking through the different clothing options that were out there.
While she was doing this, she also began to look through ideas that she could use to make the farmhouse a space that she would see as romantic. She knew that it should be Optimus doing this, but she was totally okay with this. After all, she felt as though she wanted everyone to be happy on her birthday, not just her. She definitely was looking forward to spending the day with them, and she planned on getting a few outdoor games for them to place as well.
After a few hours, Saphira felt a lot better in her mind. She looked at flights already to get to Texas, even though she knew it would all be very much last minute. Still, she figured she would fly there after Optimus arrives. She would invite him to meet her in Texas…but than she began to think about maybe letting him drive. That might be better…and she blushed at the very idea of that because they could spend many nights together. Of course, this would happen only after a ceremony for the twins and the soldiers who died with them.
She put the documents into a folder and made sure the keys were secure before spent some time in the jacuzzi, deciding to enjoy it before she would leave. She would definitely get one for herself as she did enjoy using the jacuzzi, and she figured she could make a nice, cosy, jacuzzi retreat in the country. It wasn't that unheard of. She had some music playing as she relaxed in the jacuzzi, looking at the stars as it was evening already.
Her phone dinged and she looked over to see it was a text from Optimus. She smiled and moved to lean against the side of the jacuzzi, so she would have less risk of the phone falling into the water and getting swept around by the jets of the tub. She unlocked her phone to read the text that Optimus had sent to her.
'We are on our way now, Saphira. I feel extremely sad for the twins, and we have been trying to reach the team Chromia is with. So far, we have not had any luck. Lennox has sent Sideswipe, Ironhide and Dino to their location to ensure that they are safe. I think the decepticons are indeed targeting us while we are so spread out, but those three will be fine due to being fine warriors.'
Saphira smiled as she now knew that Optimus was coming soon. She wondered how he was feeling, as it seemed like he was worried. Especially with how the twins were killed, she understood the worry of them being targeted when they were separated. She took a deep breath and typed back to Optimus.
'I want to say that is good news, Optimus, but I know it is not out of good circumstances. I hope that Chromia will be safe. It definitely seems concerning that the decepticons are going after the weaker bots while they're away from you.'
She sent the text, knowing he would likely realize she could text him and he would be happy. She kind of wished she had a drink at the moment, but she would have to settled with just relaxing in the jacuzzi for the moment. She smiled when she received a response from Optimus a few minutes later. She was so glad that she could pass the time this way.
'I am afraid to admit you are right. I also worry that it might not be a strange coincidence that this is happening just as you are about to leave the safety of NEST's protection. I say this because of the threats and plans that were spoken of between Laserbeak and Galloway. I hope you don't have any need to go into town on your own. I would advise you to take Ratchet with you.'
She smiled as she read his concerns for her safety. Though she did think that it was possible that Galloway and the decepticons could target her as well since she is on her own. She is still near the base, but she plans to leave soon, so naturally she would be on her own. She definitely understood his concerns.
'Thank you for your love and concern, Optimus. I will only ask Ratchet to come of he is not busy. He's currently preparing things regarding the twins, and I don't want to distract him from that. And I do have to go into the city tomorrow. I've received my inheritance, and I need to get all of that processed so I can access it.'
Saphira did not know how Optimus would react to that, but she hoped he would be happy. She still had her handgun that she was allowed to keep. She might take that with her and keep it hidden while she went into the city to get everything sorted. She did not know how she will be able to get the properties in London and Paris in her name, though she figured she could do that in the city somewhere. She smiled when he responded to her.
'I am surprised and happy to hear that you have received your grandfather's inheritance so soon. I am still very interested in the task or job that he has left for you. I am happy for you, Saphira. But I do hope you take precautions tomorrow, I do not want you to be seriously hurt or killed...I am not sure how I'll feel if they kill you.'
Saphira felt her heart flutter as she practically felt his concern through the text. She couldn't help but kiss the screen quickly, almost like she wished he could feel that through the phone. She knew she could not, but it just felt right to her.
'You would probably feel like how I felt when you were killed by Megatron. I completely understand how you are feeling, Optimus. I promise to take extra precautions. I do hope that when you come back we will spend time together after we pay our respects for those who have fallen. I love you, Optimus.'
Saphira knew she would have to put on something simple and formal to go and pay her respects. She luckily had a black dress for the occasion, even though she had bought it originally for dinner attire. At least it was not a super flashy kind of dress so it would not disrespect the remembrance. She stares at the screen as Optimus replied again.
'Thankfully, we have been told we have a couple weeks. Since we are now going to help the humans with human issues to try and stop wars from happening, I think those missions need to be thought out. That will give us a bit of time to spend time with you. It is very painful being away from you, Saphira. Will you wear the necklace on your birthday?'
Saphira grinned. She kept that beautiful necklace safe in her room. She only wore it when Optimus came back as it was the only time she could wear it. Plus, she did not want to damage it while she was working. So it was definitely something she treated as extremely fragile.
'I definitely will. I have some really fun ideas to do on my birthday as well. Though I was thinking we could drive to Texas to my grandfather's farmhouse since I now inherited it. I've already packed some clothes because I'll be out of here before the end of the week. I thought about flying, but it will be more fun to do a road trip with you.'
Saphira could see them stopping at a couple hotels on the way, or even somewhere with nature around them. And she knew it would be a lot of fun, and getting away from all the military environment and government will do them all some good, and she knew that. And she didn't particularly want to travel alone either, especially with what seems to be happening. Optimus responds a few minutes later.
'I think that is a great idea, Saphira. From what I understand, it is only twenty-four hours if we drive without stopping. Though I think we can cut that up a bit, probably into three days, maybe four if we want to push it. I guess we could see if as a pre-birthday journey. If that is the right way to sum it up. I think that would be rather lovely.'
Saphira giggled as she read Optimus's reply. Him calling this a pre-birthday journey was really sweet and endearing. She certainly would enjoy extending the time they would spend together rather than just driving. Especially since she did want to take her M4 with her, she didn't want to leave it behind at the base. She knew she could have the car brought over, but it might not show up by the time Optimus and the others leave for their next mission.
'I really like how you called it a pre-birthday journey, Optimus. Very, very well. And I think it is very appropriate. But I do understand should something else happen, like Chromia being attacked, we might not be able to do that. So I am not going to hold it against you if you have to remain or leave to assist her and the others. I do hope that it won't be necessary, though.'
"Who are ya texting?" Saphira jumped in surprised and turned her head to see Brains and Wheelie approaching, and she frowned at them in confusion. "Sorry, Saphira. I hope ya don't mind." Brains chuckled softly as he grinned at her. "We figured since you are gonna be going soon, we might hang out with ya."
Saphira smiled at the two of them as it was nice for a bit of company. "I guess I was not expecting company. I was just texting Optimus." The two scrap bots look at her in surprise. "Oh right, you don't know." She chuckled softly with a shrug. "Optimus and I figured out how to communicate without being caught."
"Never knew Prime did not mind sneaking around," Wheelie joked with a light laugh. "But I think in this case it is fine. After all, you'll likely be Mrs Prime soon." She chuckled softly and rolled her eyes at him. "Anyways, Brains and I were thinking we wanted to challenge you to a game of pool. What do you say, huh?"
Saphira thought about it and smiled at them both with a nod. "I think I would like that…I would love to invite Ratchet and Wheeljack…but it isn't really appropriate. I am surprised you two aren't feeling any kind of need to grieve."
Wheelie shrugged. "Those two idiots weren't exactly my close friends, Saphira. We feel sad for those two, but there is little we can do about it now. You did your best to help, and that is all anyone can ever ask for."
Brains nodded in agreement. "Though I am worried about Chromia. She and I became fast friends when she helped to take me away from the decepticons. She's the only one I would be very sad for." He placed a hand on his arm and rubbed it. "We are still in a war…kinda…"
"Yeah, I guess we are." Saphira looked at the phone briefly before she turned the jacuzzi off and climbed out. "Alright, I'll get myself dried off and changed, and I'll meet you both in the pool room. I will probably still text Optimus while we play, but I'll make sure to not be totally distracted."
"We aren't gonna be mad." Wheelie grabbed Brains by the wrist and pulled him along with him. "Come on, Brains! Lets go and get ready!" Brain followed the scrapbot and Wheelie paused for a moment. "Do you want us to wrangle some snacks for you?"
Saphira looked at him as she wrapped a towel around her body. "Sure, I was going to grab some cheese, salami and crackers, and maybe a dip as well to nibble on while we play. If you want to set it up, you can and I can grabbed out a soft drink as well."
The scrap bot gave Saphira a thumbs up. "On it! Come, Brains!"
The two bots scurry away and Saphira dried herself as best as she could before heading inside to head upstairs. She smiled as Optimus sent a reply to her again and she knew that the two of them would likely speak to each other during the night. She wished she could call him and hear his voice. She missed it. But he would be here tomorrow, unless something else happens. She would definitely be upset because that would mean someone else would be hurt or dead, and she did not want anyone else to be harmed.
