Not even the other gods knew much of Hecate, she was a mystery to all. Goddess of magic and the crossroads, she had great power, but little in the way of story, or even followers. Seeing her now was quite a shock to Phobos, while Velvette was wondering where she had heard that name before. "Hey! I remember now! All of those moody Wiccan girls in college wouldn't shut up about you!" Velvette said, finally recognizing the old woman. "Yes, girl. I felt the scattered prayers from the young women of your realm, even from our unwitting exile." "Wait, you knew this realm existed? And what exile?" Phobos said in confusion. "Yes, Phobos. I have seen this world, because it was meant to be our world, until the mad treachery of Yahweh and the fracturing of our worlds." Hecate goes on to explain the lie that all creation had been living, how Yahweh stole the power of the other gods and sealed them off in crude copies of their kingdoms with their minds clouded to continue to siphon off more and more. "But this was power that not even gods were meant to wield, it broke his mind, and now he is out of control. Only I and a handful of other gods, the gods of magic and crossing boundaries were able to escape and break his illusion on this world through his tortured son."
"Huh, I guess that explains a lot, except why you are here now." Velvette said "That is the most important part. Before we acted to break Yahweh's spell, all of our seers and oracles had the same prophecy. There will be three beings that will be able to take the bloated mad god down. One will be the daughter of the first of the fallen, named Charlie Morningstar." "Wait, that Disney princess-ass daughter of Lucifer?!" "Yes, but she is not important now, what is important are you two." "US!?" Velvette and Phobos say in shock. "Yes, a fallen mortal and a despised god. You too are the ones who fit the prophecy, and to fight a god of such bloated power, you need weapons of equal power. One of them I was able to acquire myself." Hecate held out her hand, and suddenly a huge sickle made of perfect crystal appeared in her hand. "The sickle of Kronos! How did you get it?" Phobos said in shock. "Many forget that I am the goddess of the crossroads and boundaries, as well as magic. Not even the private collection of Zeus is beyond me, especially in this moment of chaos. But what is important now is that we need another weapon to end the mad god, we need the spear that ended the mortal existence of his son, the spear of destiny."
"Really? The one that Hitler was obsessed over? I think it might already be here somewhere." Velvette said. "No, young shade. The true spear has long been the prize possession of a royal demon named Paimon, it will be in the collection in his palace. We need to move quickly if creation is to survive." Hecate proceeded to take a handful of gray powder from a pouch on her hip and spread it in a straight line in front of her. Her eyes briefly glowed with an otherworldly power as she struck her staff against the ground. The powder glowed and an arc of light formed a portal to another location. "Let me do the talking, but be ready to fight, for I think these proud demons will be unwilling to listen to our explanation."
The trio walked through the portal and into a magnificent palace that was packed with Goetia nobles, all of them arguing loudly about the chaos that engulfs the world. Lord Paimon looked like he was about to scream for silence when Hecate made their presence known by slamming the end of her staff on the ground with a deafening boom. "What now!?" Paimon said as he looked at the three intruders, the other royals circling like vultures. "I am Hecate, goddess of the liminal and magic, I have come to your court to claim a weapon that-" "Sorry to interrupt, grandma, but I think we have more important things to worry about than your senility." Andrealphus had just interrupted the goddess and was bringing his attention to her companions. "And who might you two be? I recognize the girl as the dimwitted third wheel to Vox and Valentino, but you look and feel like a one of a kind freak."
It took all of their willpower not to kill the arrogant marquis, but the final straw came from his sister. "Will you just leave these idiots to the guards, brother?" Stella said with annoyance and a flick of her wrist to summon the hellhound guards. The poor hellhounds seemed to have more common sense than their royal employers, because they were visibly afraid to approach the two gods standing before them. Stella was getting angrier and angrier with how slow her servants were going and began to berate them. "Will you get a move on you stupid peasants! I will-" Stella did not finish that sentence, because at that moment Hecate tapped her staff to the ground, and both siblings turned into non-anthropomorphic versions of the birds they represent. Both of them began to squawk and flap about in a panic, as neither of them have any experience being actual birds. "Sorry, I never could stand to see the arrogance of royals." Hecate said to Phobos and Velvette.
For a moment, the other Goetia were stunned by the audacity of the act, and the power they wielded. But that soon turned into rage. "YOU DARE LAY A HAND ON A GOETIA!" Paimon bellowed. The Goetia were similarly offended, and prepared to strike. "Whatcha gonna do about it, bird boy?" Velvette mocked. Paimon lunged at her in his terrible demonic form, but Phobos swiftly stabbed him through his mouth, the blade jutting out the back of his throat, weapons made by a god have much the same effect as angelic weapons, and Paimon was left to quickly die. "Who is the next pathetic spirit to die today?" Phobos said. Some of the other Goetia felt much less enthusiastic about fighting now that they saw one of the most powerful among them die so quickly. Phobos, however, was not in the mood to stop. He had a bit of his father's bloodlust in him, and he wanted to feed it.
Phobos leapt at the nearest Goetia and swiftly cut him in two. The other Goetia were operating on their fight or flight instincts now, and they tried to fend off the two gods or run away. Slowly, however, the Goetia realized that they almost outnumbered their foes a hundred to one, and they regrouped to swarm them. Velvette wasn't having anywhere near the success of the others, she of course was always packing, but her angelic revolver was being stripped of its power by the current crisis, so it barely fazed the demons she was shooting at. Hecate sensed this and pointed to the mantle "Look, young one! The spear! Grab it now before all is lost!" Velvette knew what her part in this was now. Hecate used all her strength to summon a mystical barrier around Velvette to prevent Goetia from stopping her. She jumped and finally put her hand onto the spear.
The rush she felt was unlike anything she had felt before. "Is this what it felt like to be a god?" She thought to herself. Seeing the Goetia about to overwhelm her boyfriend, she used her new power to fly right at them, skewering half a dozen of them. She flew at an impossible speed throughout the hall, stabbing the rest of them or simply smashing through them with the haft. Soon, none of the Goetia were left standing, the single greatest massacre of Hell's royalty in their history. Phobos already loved Velvette, but seeing her slaughter so many while laughing madly made him truly respect her as well. "Very…thorough, Velvette. But we need to move on now. The final battle against Yahweh has already begun, we must be there." Hecate summoned another portal for the trio, and they departed, leaving only an enraged owl, a terrified peacock, and a massive pile of corpses in their wake.
