Dustin's POV
Night had started to approach fast by the time we were approaching the Pokemon Center. The breeze nipped at our faces as I held Empuress to my chest, with Ash doing the same for Pikachu.
"There it is!"
Her call got us to look and see the building up ahead that the symbol was vastly similar to how a Pokeball would be, which made ne realize that Viridan Ciy Pokemon Center was just up ahead.
"Wo, the Pokemon Center is gigantic!" Ash said in awe.
"It's Pokemon Hospital. You didn't expect it to be small?" I reminded him as we looked ahead.
"Well, no, I just didn't think it was this big," Ash said.
"I guess that's understandable, " I said, knowing he was still a rookie trainer but eventually getting him more experience in Pokemon and everything else he needed to know.
The two of eyes kept our eyes on the giant building ahead, but even while we were getting closer, Officer Jenny hadn't slowed down.
"Hey... Officer Jenny? Shouldn't we be slowing down?" I called to her.
"You wanted to get there quick, so I'm going to go as quickly as possible...But stopping is going to be tricky! Just hold on!" She called to us, causing our eyes to widen as the bike picked up speed.
"Just hold on!"
And at her call, we both yelp in surprise as we let in the air before we skidded right past the entrance and stopped near the front desk. As we stopped, I saw Nurse Joy glare at Officer Jenny.
"We have a driveway, you know!" She scolded her, only to get fired back with the reason as to why we stopped recklessly.
"Please help them," Ash pleaded, causing her t come over and check on our two Pokemon partners.
"A Pikachu and a Meowth... We'll do what we can. I need a stretcher for a small electric pokemon, stat!" Nurse Joy called out, allowing her assistant pokemon named Chansey to come out with a stricter for Pikachu.
Pikachu was placed on a stretcher while she turned to me.
"Does this one need extensive care?" She asked, only to get a shaking head from me.
"No, but she needs a bit of treatment. Same for my Vulpix, my other pokemon kind of with overboard and did not listen to mehHe should be okay but make a check on him if he is not difficult," I said, holding out Aeroblaster and Kitsune's Pokeball, which she took with a look of understanding.
"I understand. I'll take care of your Vulpix and your other pokemon in a momme, and don't worry; I deal with different pokemon all the time. As for Pikachu and Meowth, the two of them will be fine," She assured us before she turned to Chansey while placing Empuress on the stretcher beside Ash's partner.
"Rush this Pikachu to the critical care unit. As for Meowth rush, this one to the medical room. Just a few bandages and a check-up will do," She ordered Chansey, who nodded before she took our partners away.
Soon as she was gone, another Chansey came up with a medical tool for Nurse Joy to use. Immediately she wore a pink glove, which I figured was for Pikachu since he is an Electric type.
"We'll begin treatment right away!" She declared before Ash, who looked like he wanted to speak up, could say anything.
"And who are you, boys?" She asked, looking over at us.
"Their names are Dustin and Ash. They're both from Pallet Town, with Dustin being Lance's son. They're Pikachu and Meowth trainers as well," Officer Jenny explained.
"If there is anything we can do, please just tell us," Ash pleaded, only to get a stern expression from the nurse Joy in return as sne spoke in a scolding matter.
"You can be more responsible!" Nurse Joy answered, much to Ash's shock.
I frowned in response, knowing she was right, but she didn't have to be utterly harsh since Ash didn't mean for Pikachu to be badly injured.
"Listen, I know Pikachu's condition is bad, and no good Pokemon trainer would do that," I started."But Ash didn't do it on purpose. Could you go easy on him, Nurse Joy? Yeah, he angry a Spearow who called it a flock that wouldn't show mercy. Sure, it wouldn't have happened if he had listened to me, his mentor, but he learned his lesson and won't make that mistake again and will follow my advice," I finished looking at Ash before he could say a word to make this worse for himself.
Nurse Joy's expression then softened."I understand what's past is past. Now we have to heal your Pokemon boys, " Nurse Joy said softly, causing Ash to bring up the question he had asked before.
"What can we do?"He asked, earning a soft smile from Nurse Joy this time.
"Just leave everything to me!" She said, causing Ash to make a slight bow.
The expression on his face was saying everything. Our journey started out bad, and it resulted in this. He must feel guilty for causing all this to happen, as he was the one that threw the rock at Spearow.
But despite this being his fault, he understood his mistake and wanted to do something about it...even if it meant helping when he didn't know how.
"Please..." Ash pleads before I pat them on the back, attempting to cheer him up.
"It's in your hands! I know you'll give them excellent care!" Officer Jenny assured with a confident smile, earning a smile back from the nurse.
"You got them all here just in time!" She complimentedthe officer, allowing the officer to make her salute.
"That's my job!" She said before she seemed to remember something the moment she turned to where her motorcycle was.
Oh my goodness! I left my motorcycle parked at the front desk!" Officer Jenny started before she nervously smiled.
"Next time, use the driveway." Nurse Joy reminded her again, earning a nervous laugh from the officer once more.
She wished us good luck before leaving thePokémon Center, leaving us with Nurse Joy, who called to us on what we needed to do for now.
"Ash! Dustin! You two will have to wait in the waiting room," She called to us.
"Can't I...?" Ash started before the emergency room door closed.
The dismay remained on his face before I touched his shoulder, trying to comfort him once more as I gave him a soft smile.
"Hey, don't worry. She is an expert when it comes to treating pokemon. Let her fo her job," I said, causing him to nod slowly. Though he still didn't seem to feel much better.
"Yeah..."
The frown remained on his face, causing my smile to slowly drop and sigh as I looked at the emergency room door with him, as we could only wait for our partners to recover from the ordeal they had been through fully
Having no other choice, we both sat on the chairs for visitors to wait on, as the only sound we could hear now was the clock ticking.
"Dusk.."
"Yeah?"
I glanced over at my friend and student, whose face darkened from his hat, making it hard for me to see whether he was upset or not... but the tone explained everything there.
"I... Really messed up back there, didn't I?" Ash asked while clenching his fists.
I looked at his clenching fist and could see how much he was feeling bad about this, but I knew lying to him to help him feel better wouldn't make me a good mentor, so I decided to answer honesty knowing that would be the only way for him to improve as a trainer.
"Yes, you caused a massive problem for the four of us back there when you threw that rock at Spearow instead of having Empuress to weaken it for you so that you could catch it. However, the important thing is that we made it out of there in time before things got worse, and I'm sure next time; you will listen to me and not be stubborn and reckless," I said.
"Yeah, but-"
"Stop there. Many rookie trainers have made mistakes on their first journey; sure, maybe not as bad as you did. What important is that from now on, you will be careful and listen to my teachings so we don't get into a situation like this again," I explained.
"Dusk..."
"Now, during the storm, tell me what happened? I can imagine you trying to save Pikachu, but at the time, I believe he saved you back," I said, remembering the lighting I saw.
"It was sort of both. I wanted Pikachu to back to his Pokeball while I distracted the Spearow, but he came forward to my rescue and drove them away with his big attack," Ash explained.
"So then yeah, it was a terrible mistake made, but it brought Pikachu, who wanted nothing to do with you, close to the point he wanted to save you," I said.
"Dusk... I... It shouldn't have happened... I'm so sorry for not listening, really..."
"Hey, it's okay. Pikachu will be fine, and so will Empuress," I said, pulling him into a hug and letting him release his emotions."You learned your lesson, and im not mad was just a bit disappointed my student didn't listen; now, come, we should go to the Pokemart next door and buy supplies we will need when we leave for Viridian Forest," I said, ending the hug.
"Alright, you think she be done when we get back?" Ash asked, looking back at the treatment room.
"She should be done, and lf not, then close to it almost," I replied.
"Okay," Ash said, following me from the Pokemon Center.
Soon as we arrived at the Pokemart, I headed to the location of the medication first.
"These are potions and status healing items," I said, glancing at Ash beside me."It helps to heal your pokemon when there is not a Pokemon Center. I will show you how to do that as we travel through Viridian Forest."
"Alright, so it is the situation trainers use when there is not a Pokemon Center nearby, " Ash repeated.
"Correct next, we need some berries and a few other essential items to make pokemon food, which I also teach you. My mother gave me some of her recipes but taught me how to make my own," I said, leaving the medication aisle as I put them in the basket I was carrying.
"Wait, can't you just buy Pokemon food?" Ash asked.
"Yes, however, your Pokemon gets more nutrients when it is handmade by the trainer, and remember, every pokemon likes different food and needs other nutrients based on ther typing," I explained.
"Oh," Ash said.
"I'll show you how to do that as well. We should be good since my mom made a few cans of food for each type, but I'll show you how to make it so we always have pokemon food ready for we were almost out," I explained.
"Got it," Ash replied."What's next, Dusk?" He asked.
"This should be everything for now, and I will stock medicine in your bag as well if we ever get separated. You have medication," I replied as I made my way to pay for everything.
Soon as we were done, we started returning to the pokemon Center when a screech was heard from above. We both looked up to see a Spearow flying towards us.
"Sparrow, what it doing here?"Ash asked, surprised.
"Hey there, Spearow. What brings you here?" I asked, placing a hand on Ash's shoulder keeping him calm.
"Spearow!" Sperow cried out, flying before us and stopping on my shoulder.
"You want to come with me?" I asked.
"Spear!" Spearow nodded.
"Alright, you must be one of the Spearow I battle when we split up. Sure, you can come if you don't cause any more trouble for us."
"Spearow!"
"Alright then, you can join me, little fellow," I took out a Pokeball and tapped it against its head, catching it instantly.
"Wow, you already got four pokemon, Dusk," Ash said, disappointed he still hadn't caught one.
"You catch something eventually," I said, putting the Pokeball on my belt before we continued our way back to the Pokemon Center.
As we continued walking toward the Pokemon Center, we heard a loud bang in the alley nearby, causing us to turn in that direction of the sound.
"What was that?" Ash asked.
"Let's see," I said, signaling Ash to follow me when we saw a fallen trashcan.
"A trash can?" Ash questioned.
When an adorable-looking Eevee came on out of the fallen trash can.
"It's an Eevee, " I said.
"Eevee?" Ash questioned, taking out his pokedex.
[Eevee, the Evolution pokemon. It has the potential to evolve into any one of the three different pokemon. Eeeve evolves into one of three pokemon depending on what stone is used on it. A for stone will yield Flareon, water stone Vaporeon, and Thunderstone Jokteon. ]
"What is it doing in the trash can?" Ash asked, confused.
"It is probably looking for food. Why don't you give it a few of our berries," I said.
"Right," Ash putting away his Pokedex and unzipping his bag that had some razz Oran berries and walked over, and placed a few in front of Eevee.
"Eev," Eevee said, looking at Ash and then at the berries eating them.
"Come on; we should get back to the Pokemon Center, " I said, walking out of the alley and leaving Eevee to eat.
"Will Eevee be okay?"Ash asked.
"I'm sure Eevee will be okay. Besides, who knows, we might see it again, " I said the last part quietly, looking back at the alley to see Eevee looking st us as she continued to eat.
"Huh, what you looking at?" Ash questioned, looking at me and then the alley seeing Eevee was gone.
"It's nothing. Let's keep going," I replied as we continued walking.
Soon as we arrived back at the Pokemon Center to see Nurse Joy wasn't done yet.
"We should call our moms while we wait for Pikachu and Empuress," I said, looking at the video phones and starting to walk to one of the video phones.
"Your right," Ash said, agreeing to do the same and going to a different one to call his mom.
