I do not own Hetalia okay? I love seeing how much you guys love my "Of the heart" or as I call it on Ao3 Historical Heart. It makes me feel so good about my writing and self. But you don't want to hear about that. So enough of this A/N, on with the fic!

(From the Journal of Alfred F Jones)
It was cold, so very cold when I stood on the pier waiting for Vanya. Much different then when he got shipped off to the hell that is Europe. The war is over. He's home. I had hoped that this war would end sooner or they'd release him back home sooner than the coldest day of the year it seems but hey, it is his birthday. So there's that. I had been told that Major Bonnefoy's sister would be coming over with him, spending some time in New York before heading to Hollywood to star in some of those films coming out of there. I do have to admit (and Nattie would kill me for saying it, although I don't know what she has to be insecure about, I still think that she is the most beautiful woman in the world and best mother ever) that Lucille is pretty enough to be able to do it. Very cool too. I had joked that since she had seemed to make good friends with Vanya herself, that those two would be so cute together. They both seemed to blush and look away. Well if he does like her, Vanya deserves nothing but such a classy lady. She had to check into her hotel, The Plaza oh la la la (I don't know what Natalya would think about that, I mean our honeymoon was only to Brighton Beach mostly at her suggestion though... that just made me feel like I had to do something better for her...) and then I took Vanya home. Luckily the trolleys were running today. That it wasn't too icy. Vanya handles the cold better than I do. We got his chair on with me and the help of the conductor but realized I was getting cold and wrapped his scarf around me and held onto him until our stop near his house. I swear the war must have lowered his cold resistance because I saw him blush at this.
But I had Natalya and the kids over at his house, since she would not let them stand out in the cold for this, and when I opened the door and Nikolai ran towards his uncle and climbed right up on him smiling. And that was the first smile I had seen on Vanya's face. Nikolai then started telling him about how he's been a good boy and a good brother to little Ivan and Anya and wanted to go to the ocean with his Uncle Ivan when the weather warmed up. Nattie then told him to go play with Mattie and introduced the twins to him who both seemed to smile at him. They both are just speaking in baby talk but he then broke down crying, which made the twins cry as well. I tried to make him so happy to be home but he had just wanted to go to his bedroom, which I helped him to do and he wanted nothing else and just said he was tired. It reminds me of when I had brought Mattie home. Like maybe the war just took more than his ability to walk. God I hope not. I could sense that after that things were rather somber and the kids were confused too.
So how was that? Good? Bad? Short? Long? Let me know in a review. I don't have much to say here, so remember to read (well you just did) and review. Ciao for now,
