Sirius was falling down very quickly but his intuitions promptly took over and he instantly transformed into his Beerus form mid-air, and while he was disoriented for a moment and it took him a few tries he was eventually able to use his steel-like claws to carve into the walls, they immediately slowed down his descent while producing loud irritating scratching noise until finally, he came to a stop.
He kept his body still like that for quite a while, just hanging there with his claws in the wall and breathing heavily. A few minutes passed before his drum-like heartbeats started to calm down and he could think clearly.
'That devious old witch. She created a bloody muggle trap!'
Sirius didn't want to think about it anymore as he didn't believe he would be able to control himself from hitting something so he focused on getting himself out of this position.
He did the first thing that came to his mind and started slowly crawling over the wall using his powerful paws, and while it was slow going, it was working and that was all that mattered to him at the moment.
It took him more than 15 minutes but he eventually crawled out of the hole, and the whole time the only thought that circled around in his head was, 'Don't look Down! Don't look Down!'.
He didn't want to think at all about what would have happened to him if he had fallen to the depth which didn't seem to have an end in sight and while he was 70% sure that Beth wouldn't create something that would be fatal, 'But you can never be sure with that crazy old witch,'
"I should have expected something like this from her..." Sirius mumbled as he lay on his back beside the hole, now back in his human form.
And there was a reason that Sirius wasn't on the lookout for any muggle traps. Most of the tombs or ruins that were discovered in this age were, either those created by Witches and Wizards who were at the end of their life with their life's wealth buried with them or were some kind of lair of a Dark Wizard.
So the chances of them having any kind of mundane trap was close to nil as most of them would consider it beneath themselves but there were of course exceptions. There were those select few Wizard or Witches who leave the outer protection of their lair to their muggle slaves, who would then scramble their brains to come up with crafty contraptions to impress their master.
So while you would be safe as long as you were cautious against anything even remotely magical most of the time, there was that one-in-a-thousand chance that you would encounter the aforementioned exception which would mean that you would be screwed like Sirius almost was.
"I'll be even more careful this time..." Sirius swore to himself and started his journey again.
This time making liberal use of all kinds of necessary and unnecessary detection spells, even that rare one that miners use to detect things in the soil in their vicinity.
But if it was that easy then it would be too boring for Beth.
As time slowly passed Sirius decided that Beth must have taken some kind of course in how to play with someone's mind or else he couldn't fathom how she could get so good at it.
Beth had the traps placed in such a way as if they were designed to make you as miserable as it was possible.
There would be long stretches of walks in which Sirius would encounter nothing, but a plain path that would leave him frustrated at his slow pace due to his need to cast detection spells every few minutes.
And then there would be opposite cases where he would encounter simultaneous traps of different kinds there weren't far apart from each other which would leave his senses stretched thin as he searched around himself with his wand in paranoia for if he missed some.
But fortunately for him, he was able to take ample breaks in between which was immensely helpful for his mental recovery.
"Thank Merlin, I thought ahead this time..." Sirius mumbled to himself gratefully while biting into a cold sandwich.
After the last time Beth had trapped Sirius in that unfortunate situation he made a promise to himself that he would prepare for situations like those in advance. And he didn't forget about it as he prepared a tiny handbag with an undetectable extension charm on it that he carried around with him at all times, tied around his neck.
It was filled with food of all kinds that wouldn't go bad and it was coming in very handy at the moment as it kept his stomach full which was very useful for keeping his morale high, he just didn't anticipate that he would be needing it so soon.
Many more entrapments came, some were simple while others were complex. Some looked complex on the outside but were simple at the core and vice versa. But Sirius had raised his awareness to the peak by this point and had gone into a kind of zone where he was able to find the solution spell very quickly no matter the problem he encountered.
About six hours passed like that as he cleared each of the obstacles that came before him methodically and unwaveringly and before long he came to a place that looked as if it was the final hurdle.
In front of Sirius was an elaborately decorated pedestal that was about a meter tall, and behind that was nothing but a dead end. There was a shiny emerald brooch placed on a cushion on the top and it was shown in such a way as if it was a prize for the winner.
But the brooch stank of a malicious dark curse from afar without even needing Sirius to use his wand for a preliminary scan, which spoke a lot about the strength of the curse.
There was also a small sentence etched underneath the cushion and it was in an ancient dead magical language but thankfully Sirius had learned that one among others as a part of his training under Beth. Of course, he had made ample use of a particular magical potion for that.
What the etching basically said was, "That's your portkey, Take it and leave..." just in a more decorative language, of course, he needed to first clean the dark magic off of it.
Sirius was sure that it would take him a while to unravel the dark magic of the brooch but a lot of tension left his shoulders when he understood that it would be his final obstacle and that he would be finally going away from this place.
He happily raised his wand and was just about to start deciphering the curse when his instinct faintly started ringing in the deepest part of his brain as if telling him that it was too simple.
"She is way too devious to simply hand me the route home..." Sirius mumbled to himself before he raised his wand and started casting all kinds of detection magics that he knew of, from the simplest to the most complex ones, just to be sure.
And it paid off as when he cast a simple spell that showed the structure of an object, an incongruity made itself known. There was a hollow part just underneath the cushion in the pedestal, while everywhere except was filled with stone.
Sirius immediately raised his wand to levitate the lid over the hollow surface, (it was the first thing that came to his mind,) and to his delight, it worked. He placed the floating lid with brooch and all to the side for the moment and looked inside.
"Ooh, what do we have here..."
There was an identical brooch in the hollow part but the difference was that this one didn't seem to have any dark curse on it at all.
Of course, Sirius didn't believe it right away and tried to find if there was any trap but he found to his relief that it was a simple portkey to Beth's place and nothing else. And the reason he knew it was a true one was that he had used one to Beth's place before so he was familiar with the coordinates of the place.
But of course just because he knew the coordinates didn't mean that he could just create a portkey into the place willy-nilly at any time as the wards in that place worked against that. For example, even though most of Magical Britain knew about the location of Hogwarts only the Headmaster at that time could create a portkey that would lead you inside.
"Thank Merlin!" Sirius sighed in relief at his luck that he didn't already start with the removal of the dark curse from the other one impatiently or he would have been here for hours.
"Now let's get out of this place..." Sirius took the portkey in his hand after once again making sure that nothing was wrong before he activated it using his wand and immediately he felt a familiar hook in his navel as he disappeared in a swirl of colors.
The moment the portkey stopped spinning and deposited him, Sirius raised his wand and looked around vigilantly, his body poised for anything. If not anything else then the one thing this excursion had taught Sirius is how to be paranoid.
But thankfully there was no need as there was no action awaiting him this time and the portkey had just deposited him in Beth's living room which finally relaxed his tense muscles and cleared the frown on his face.
"Beth! Beth!" he called out when he found that he was alone in the living room, but no one answered even after a while so he just assumed that she was not home and he was too tired to care about it anyway.
Sirius went toward the closest sofa that looked way too comfortable and the moment he placed his bum on it his body went limp as he closed his eyes in relief.
"I'll just rest my eyes for a few minutes..." Sirius mumbled that to himself but his body vehemently disagreed with the 'Few minutes,' part and he had no idea when he fell into a slumber.
But he would distinctly remember when he woke up...
As he was floating in his dreams, Sirius was abruptly brought out of his sweet sleep when he heard a muffled voice that sounded something along the lines of, 'I'm home,' but he couldn't be sure. He opened his eyes blearily and what came into his view was the back side of a woman who had just placed a very heavy bag just beside her.
The woman was one of those rare ones who you only need to see from the back to know that she would be a pretty one.
"Gran! Misty!" She called out but she had no better success than Sirius had a while back, "Where the f**k could they have gone at this time of the day..." she irritatedly mumbled to herself.
Sirius was confused for a moment about why in Merlin's name had the woman not noticed him yet before he looked around and immediately got the reason.
The sofa he was seated on was located in the furthest corner of the living room and it was placed in such a way that it was hidden from anyone coming into the hallway by a half-wall filled with decorative items like vases and pottery and anyone standing in the living room would have to turn 180 degrees to even notice him.
Sirius was just about to open his mouth and make his presence known to the lady when she said some words that killed whatever he was about to say in his mouth.
"Ugh... I'll just take a shower and think about calling her later..." The lady mumbled to herself and didn't waste a single moment as she started unzipping the zipper of her jacket.
Now Sirius had a lot of memories of naked women both from this one and from his previous so it wasn't to say that he was someone whose mind was ruled by his di*k, but on the other hand... he was a healthy man with healthy needs and when a situation like this presented itself without any input of his own, his inner voice started screaming at the top of its lungs to not waste it, "if you find a free ticket on the road, you take it and go watch that show,"
After she was done removing her jacket the lady moved on to her T-Shirt.
Sirius tried to convince himself with all his might that he was a gentleman at his core and that he shouldn't be watching this and that it was wrong but the words just wouldn't leave his mouth no matter what.
And it wasn't completely Sirius's fault either as the body before him was the epitome of perfection, the woman had all the right stuff in all the right places giving her a body sensuous enough to make anyone's jaw drop regardless of their gender.
Sirius would even go as far as to say that she had a better body than Appoline and that was saying something considering the other person was a veela.
The lady lost her shirt as he was monologuing and then went for the bra.
Now, here Sirius woke himself and thought that if it went any further than this then it would be irreversible and he didn't want that so he gathered up all his will from his deepest point and said the word that went against his entire being, "Stop,"
Sirius felt as if he had accomplished something major as if his will had leveled up but unfortunately he wasn't given much time to dwell on that.
The girl's reaction was in a single word like 'Lightning,' as the moment she heard an unknown voice behind her she turned her torso in an instant, and with her wand jumping into her hand from her holster, she immediately sent a powerful stunner accurately for Sirius's head.
Thankfully Sirius's instincts were equally sharp as he dodged the spell by inches as he rolled off but her spells didn't stop after the first one and kept on coming which meant that he kept on rolling to evade them until his wand sprang into his hands.
He didn't waste a single moment and immediately cast a very sturdy shield in front of him but the lady before him wasn't a run-of-the-mill witch as her spells were powerful enough that it took only two or three of them to fill his shield with cracks.
"Wait! Wait! It's a misunderstanding," Sirius said while trying to evade as much as possible, "I am Beth's guest and not a thief..." He said it as fast as he could as the ward around the living room had started giving off a purple hue when the spell fire had started, it seemed like a warning system telling them to stop firing spells inside and Sirius didn't want to find out what would happen if they didn't.
"Says the guy who was hiding and has a F**ing Glamour on his face!" she said with narrowed eyes while not letting up for even a moment, "Stop dodging! You Pervert! Thief!"
Sirius's eyes widened as he didn't know how she was able to catch his glamour when she had seen him for less than a minute.
"Would you just wait and let me explain for a moment..." Sirius said as he renewed his shield for the fourth time.
And she wasn't casting the same spells either but was instead varying her spells every few seconds while making use of ample shield breakers which meant that he had to come with a new counter shield every time and it didn't help with his concentration that the pretty blonde was fighting in a bra.
"Just let me capture you and maybe then I'll listen," she said, spitting each word with a new spell.
"Why would I do that—" Sirius ducked under a particularly nasty purple spell that passed through his shield like it wasn't there, "Sweet Merlin! Just calm down for a moment!"
"Don't tell me what to do,"
Sirius didn't know why he said it but that was just such a generic thing for her to say that his reply was automatically equally generic, "Is it that time of your month or something?"
But the second the words left his mouth Sirius immediately knew in his heart that it was the wrong thing to say.
The spellfire stopped at that moment and the room turned tranquil, and in that calm atmosphere the woman looked him straight in the eyes and announced in an ominous voice with a scary smile, "You're dead!"
If Sirius thought that the previous spellfire was heavy then this new one was in a completely different league as under this bombardment, he was barely able to keep up.
Her casting speed, the power behind her spell, everything started going up a notch and her spells went from incapacitating ones to those that would just barely keep him alive.
Siriu knew that he would lose sooner or later if he kept on defending like this and while he felt bad for attacking as it was technically his fault but the lady didn't look she was ready to let up and listen anytime soon so Sirius decided that he would use his half-grim form.
Thankfully before he could start and give his trump card away, the purple hue of the ward that had started blinking dangerously at some point, suddenly changed its color to red as if a threshold had been broken and the lady immediately stopped the spellfire as her eyes widened in suprise.
"Don't—" Before the girl could complete what she was about to say a flash of light went off and Sirius instinctively closed his eyes and he felt his wand taken away from him in an instant.
And when he opened his eyes he found out that his hands and feet had been tied up using some tuff ropes and he was hanging upside down in the air with an invisible hook. And the funny thing was that the girl was hanging right beside him and was struggling with all her might to get out of the ropes.
Sirius couldn't stop himself and asked her, "Will you listen now?"
"Shut UP!" she growled while spitting fire from her eyes with her nostrils flared in a cute way and her cheeks puffed red in anger.
The only thing Sirius could think while looking at the girl hanging upside down was that she was the most beautiful person he had ever seen in his life.
