Posting the second chapter to gain traction! Tried to go back through and catch mistakes, hopefully I did! Enjoy!

Chapter Two

I had finally managed to pull myself into a seated position. I licked my dry lips as I stared blankly at the brightly colored jungle. My throat was dry, I knew I needed to find water soon, or else I would die. It's been two days since my freshwater supply ran out. I only had one more day until I died.

There were three essential things I needed in order to survive. Water, shelter, and food. In that order. The first thing I needed to find was a freshwater source. Then I needed to somehow build a shelter.

As I was sitting here contemplating what to do, I heard a strange sound behind me. It sounded as though something was being dragged across the sand. Nothing would surprise me now; I'd seen so much while I was stranded in that boat.

Stranded At Sea

I curled up in the boat, hugging my knees tightly to my chest as I cried. Having to throw Eric overboard sat on my chest like a ton of bricks. I kept wondering if I could've done something to save him.

But… what could I have done? He had literal holes in his body. They had cut straight through, like the old man had said. I had no medical supplies. I just prayed he found peace. I remember he told me about his daughter that passed away when she was two. I wasn't a religious person, but I really hoped there was heaven where he got to see his daughter.

I had laid in the boat for a long time. My body was so sore from the fall. I hadn't given myself a once over to check for any injuries. I think I was just sore, but lord only knows. I didn't have the energy to move.

I laid on my side for a few hours. The sun was beating down on me. I'm sure my face pretty sunburnt, but I hadn't taken my wet suit off, so my face was the only thing that was sunburnt. I was started to overheat. I'd have to take it off.

I forced myself to sit up and strip out of my wetsuit. I had another bathing suit on underneath, a string bikini. I wished I had a little bit more clothing. I never wore string bikinis, but I had only worn it to cover my body parts in case something happened to the wet suit.

I did feel a lot better though. I leaned over the side of the boat and dipped my hands into the water to cool myself off. As I was leaning over the boat, I could see straight through the water. It went down pretty deep and stopped at blackness. I couldn't see past the black cloud. I shuddered, imagining what could possibly be down there.

I watched as large, brightly colored fish swam in and out of the darkness. The fish were very beautiful. I was fine watching the pretty fish, but I definitely didn't want to see that gigantic creature again.

When the night came, two large moons appeared in the sky. I watched as the sun disappeared behind a sunset and two moons from opposite side pass one another. I'd never seen two moons before. And I was sure they were moons, the waves seemed to respond to their placement in the sky.

With the night came all sorts of underwater creatures. The ocean underneath me was illuminated with glowing lights of all shades. It reminded me of the vegetation I was trying to take samples of.

The fish were glowing beautifully as well was the plant life. I could actually see past the black clouds now, and underneath looked like a large network of glowing coral reefs. I could see the gigantic creatures slowly swimming in the water, their massive tails just barely moving. The creatures had streaks of blue glowing lights along their bodies.

I tried to figure out what kind of creatures they were. The closest thing I could relate them too were Mosasaurus's. Which would be impossible, considering those creatures died out about a million years ago.

Another large creature swimming in the water were some sort of dolphin, or something very similar to a dolphin. They were swimming in pods, and they were had an array of orange, pink, green and blue glowing streaks on their backs. What separated them from dolphins were their long tails that looked like the tail of a beta fish.

I didn't have my camera, but I did have my art supplies. During the day I sketched out all the creatures I'd seen. I would look back at my sketches and think of names for the different creatures.

The big Mosasaurus type animals I called Colosasaurus. It was a mix of colossal and saurus, probably silly, but this creature was bigger than life. It deserved a big name.

The dolphin type creatures I called beta-fins. I didn't really have a creative name for them, so I just took the most prominent detail from their body.

I didn't have a big enough word vocabulary to name each creature. There were so many. And I'm sure there was even more creatures I couldn't see. It made me wonder even more where I was.

Present

When I turned, I saw the boat I had been in for days was being pushed onto the shore. I forced myself to my feet and started to drag the boat out of the water.

It was heavy, heavier than I had anticipated. Dragging it across the sand was truly a task. I needed to get it as close to the jungle as possible. I didn't want the tide to pull the boat and me out.

I was going to use the boat for shelter. I could use the large leaves from the trees and create a roof. I had a blanket, it was thick and a little scratchy, but it would help conceal me from any predators that lived on the island.

It took me a good while to get the boat close to the jungle. The width of the beach was huge. And the boat wasn't a feather. My muscles were screaming by the time I got it in a good position. I still needed to take some leaves and create a roof, but I desperately needed to find water first.

I pulled my wet suit on before trekking out into the woods. I didn't have any shoes, the only other footwear I had were a large pair of flippers and I couldn't walk properly in those. The wetsuit covered my feet. I just left the hood down.

I also had the little pocketknife that was in Eric's stuff. We had planned for a two-hour scuba dive, so he brought different items to entertain himself. I had already finished off the waters he had brought. He didn't bring any snacks, which sucked. But he had a blanket, a little medical kit, flares, and a thick book. I hadn't looked at the book. I figured I had plenty of time to do that. He also had his cigarettes and a lighter with him; the lighter I could use, but the cigarettes wouldn't serve me any purpose.

The jungle was even thicker than I had anticipated. I kept on a straight path to ensure I didn't get lost, but I also carved a little 'X,' into every third tree, so I knew how to come back.

My main focus was freshwater, but I couldn't help stopping and examining the unique plants I came across. The trees were very tall and thick, but their bark was soft and smooth to the touch. I noticed that when my knife dug into the tree, a clear liquid leaked out. When I touched it, the liquid was a thick milky substance.

I thought that perhaps it was a form of syrup or sap, but I didn't want to taste it and find out. I wasn't sure if it was poisonous or not and getting sick would not be a good thing right now.

I was about forty-five minutes into my little jungle walk when a very sweet aroma filled my nose. I turned my head towards the smell and heard the unmistakable sound of a waterfall. I started walking in the direction of the noise.

Seven minutes of walking lead me to an opening in the trees. I stood by the thick and quietly watched.

Before me was a waterfall that was surrounded by large brightly colored flowers and shrubbery. The water was completely clear and seemed to sparkle in the light of the sun. It was a beautiful scene, but that wasn't where my focus was.

There was some sort of animal drinking from the water. It was on all fours, and larger than I was. The closest animal I could equate it too was a deer, but it wasn't anything like a deer. Its skin was a very soft tan and it had two blue lines down its spine along with speckles a green in between the blue lines.

Its face was long like an anteaters, and it wasn't lapping water like a typical animal, but instead, it was holding a long tube out into the water and pulling it in in gulps. I figured this was its tongue and it was using it as a type of straw. Its legs were thick, but its feet were tiny. Its feet were round like an elephants.

The most impressive thing about this animal was the two large antlers sitting on top of its head. There were two places where the antlers came from, but they formed one large, decoratively shaped antler. It looked like a piece of art. But as pretty as it was, I was sure the four sharp points on the end of its antlers would hurt if it pierced you.

It pulled its mouth away from the water and snorted, much like a horse. And shook its head like a horse.

I wasn't sure if this animal was an herbivore or a carnivore, but I didn't want to chance it. I waited until it retreated into the jungle and disappeared before I walked to the waterfall.

The scent of the flowers became even stronger, as I passed a light blue one, I looked down into it. It was large, about the size of my hand, and had seven petals that looked almost silky. I wanted to touch one, but I didn't want to risk it.

I got down on my knees and examined the water. It looked clean and I didn't smell salt. The strange creature had been drinking from it, so I'm sure it was somewhat safe. Of course, I had no idea if creature had a filtering system within its body, but I really didn't have the time or resources to do a thorough check to see if the water was really safe.

I decided to do a quick check, it wasn't very accurate, but it would help determine if I could consume the water. I dipped my finger into the water and sniffed it. When my nose didn't react, I rubbed a little bit on the underside of my arm. When it didn't react again, I let a droplet fall onto my tongue.

From the little droplet, I could taste how cool and crisp the water was. My throat seemed to become dryer, as it demanded that I take a larger sip. As much as I wanted too, I waited about ten minutes to see if it would make me sick. When it didn't, I cupped my hands and took a mouthful of water.

It was so amazing. I felt like my body was singing for joy. Every little ache I had slowly disappeared. I smiled then took another sip.

I drank until my stomach was bloated. It was the best water I had ever drank in my entire life. It was so clean. I wished I could just stay right here and have access to the water whenever I wanted, but this was probably a heavily used water source. I'm sure a variety of creatures used this place.

As I stood, a chill ran down my spine. My heart skipped a couple of beats. My eyes widened as I suddenly felt the urge to run. I gulped and turned. I noticed that the jungle had suddenly went silent. I knew this meant a predator was near.

My eyes were scanning the jungle, trying to find the source of the danger. I bit my lip, waiting my hand gripping the knife tightly.

After a few moments of my body reacting to some unseen force, my body suddenly calmed. My muscles untensed, my heart steadied its beating, and my breathing calmed down. It was an unsettling jump, going from panicked to calm in a matter of seconds.

As my body calmed itself, I could hear a very low vibration type noise. I had to completely quiet my breathing in order to hear it. It was very low and almost felt like a vibration rather than an actual noise.

I could feel the vibration in my chest. Even though it was extremely calming, I didn't like the sudden change in feeling. I kept my knife close to me and started towards the beach.

Once I hit the jungle, I began running as fast as I could. As I was running, I tried looking for the 'X's,' but the marks I had made had disappeared. I groaned, continuing on in the direction I was going.

I was out of breath by the time I made it to the beach. I fell onto my knees, trying to catch my breath. It took a few moments, as I was not very athletic.

Once I caught my breath, I looked around for my shelter. I spotted it, several yards away from my location. I sighed as I got to my feet and headed towards it.

As I was walking, the same calming feeling washed over me again. I stopped and looked towards the jungle again.

Something was there. I didn't exactly know what was there, but I knew there was definitely something there.

"Hello?" I called out in hopes that perhaps it was a person that could help, "If someone is out there, could you please reveal yourself? I'm not going to hurt you. Hopefully, you're not going to hurt me either. But I really need help."

No one answered me, but the feeling of someone watching me stayed. I sighed, shaking my head and walked back to my boat.

Now that I was sufficiently hydrated, I could make a roof with leaves. I had dragged the boat as close as I could to the trees. I had wedged the end of the boat between two trees so it would fall over when I got into it. The trees it was wedged between had very large leaves which covered most of the boat.

I walked to a tree that was near my shelter. This one was different from the ones my boat was close too. The leaves of this tree were sprouting from the ground up. The leaves were almost a mix between light green and blue. I started with the bottom leaves; they were about half my height.

Trying to pull the leaves out of the tree was a task. They refused to budge. It took all of my strength to even get part of it to tear off.

When it did tear, the tree seemed to react. The leaf I was holding onto suddenly became very sticky. I jerked my hands away quickly and stared at the sticky substance on my hands.

It was yellowish and reminded me of honey. I wasn't exactly sure what it would do to my hands, so I quickly made my way to the ocean and washed it off. I watched as it fizzled in the salt water and dissolve off my hands. It was so bizarre and somewhat satisfying to watch. I wanted to coat my hands in the substance again, but I didn't want to risk accidentally hurting myself should this substance be poisonous.

I walked back to my boat and sighed heavily.

Well, I had a little bit of cover. And there was the blanket, I could just lay it over the boat. It didn't get very cold at night, and I could wear my wetsuit. That would protect me from the breeze.

I was glad I saved the bottles of water that Eric had brought on our scuba trip. I had two of them. I could go to the freshwater in the mornings and fill them up. That way I could cut down on how many times I had to travel into the forest.

The next thing I had to do was find food. It's been a couple of days since I've eaten, and I couldn't wait very long. Or else I'd become very weak and that would make it harder to survive. My main goal is survival. And I needed to be strong to do that.

Hopefully you guys enjoyed this chapter! I might post chapter three later today! Don't forget to leave me a little review as they are my life-blood (just kidding)! Again, if you noticed any mistakes, let me know so I can fix them!
