We have Friday and Monday off so I decided to update in between doing work and this class I have to take for work. I'm going to try to write a new chapter and update it in this time, but my weekend is kind of busy ha-ha. Anyways, please enjoy!

Chapter Twenty

"My child, it's time to wake up," I heard a soft melodic voice say.

I felt like I was floating in water but something very strange was holding me afloat. The water was the perfect temperature. My body instantly relaxed as it must've known where I was, but my brain was still trying to process.

I groaned. "W-what happened?"

"All will be explained my child," The voice said again. "You need to open your eyes first."

My eyes finally opened and looking down at me was the goddess. I gasped and sat up quickly. I looked around to see that I was back in the open field. A gut-wrenching realization crossed my mind.

"I-I died," I said, refusing to look up at her.

"Yes." She said very sullenly.

The air escaped my lungs. "Oh god… oh my god, poor Edward. Poor Esme and Carlisle! What will happen to them? D-did Edward die? He doesn't deserve to die! The people need him! He never got the chance to have a mate. This is not fair. Can I talk to him? I need to tell him that I'm sorry and— why are you smiling?"

She chuckled and poked me in the chest with her large finger. "You have made a heartbond with Edward, even if you haven't acknowledged it yet."

"What does that have to do with anything? Edward is dead! We'll never get the chance to—,"

"Edward is not dead and neither are you, my child." She said.

I was silent for a moment before yelling, "Why would you say that!"

"You need to acknowledge the heartbond you have made with Edward and stop being so stubborn." She said. "If I needed to be a little cruel to do so, then so be it. Edward is your mate and you have made a heartbond with him. You care deeply about him."

I growled. "Why am I here?"

"I needed you here to guide you before the sun sets." She said with a soft smile.

"You want me to heal the people. I get it. I don't know how to do it—,"

"Hush," She said firmly. "The venom in your body will change you in an incredible way. Your mating with Edward is going to bring forth changes among my children. We will grow plentiful once more."

"What do you mean changes?"

"Changes that you need to successfully heal the people. You will be faster and stronger. Your healing touch will be more effective."

I thought about it for a moment. "I didn't change when Edward used his venom to heal me, why will the outcast's venom change me?"

"His name is Caius," She said. "And he is just as much my son as Carlisle is."

"But… he attacked Edward and me."

"He is lost and hurt. He is blinded by his pain. He needs the healing touch of the goddess," She said as the tip of her finger touched my chest. "You will heal him. When the time comes."

I closed my eyes, feeling pain in my heart.

"It is Edward's pain you're feeling. He is afraid for you." She said. "But you will awaken in two days. You will be stronger, and you will be able to heal the people with just a touch."

"So Edward is okay? He is alive and he's going to be okay?"

"He is going to be just fine. More than fine." She said. "Your strength will make him stronger."

"Will I be as strong and fast as Edward?"

She chuckled. "Not quite. Most of your newfound strength will be in your healing touch."

I sighed and pulled my knees up to my chest, placing my chin on top of my knees. I stared at the water.

"What is the matter my child?" She asked, the water rippling as she moved to leaned backwards against her ledge.

"You and Edward have a lot of faith in me. Too much faith." I let out a long sigh. "I can't heal anyone. I don't know how to heal people."

"Your father had an illness that you could have never cured. He was infected from the other side's toxicity. His death was not your fault."

I closed my eyes, tears slipping down my cheek. "I couldn't save him."

"No, you couldn't have. But it doesn't mean you failed."

"When I was six, I clearly remembered healing a bird. It had broken its wing, and my father said there was nothing we could do to help it. But I decided to stay with the bird and hold it until it passed. Only it didn't pass. After a couple minutes of me holding it, it started to flap its wings and it flew away," I said as I looked up. "That was real? It was not a dream?"

"It was not a dream my child." She smiled gently at me.

I stared at her for a moment. "Then why couldn't I heal my father? I healed the bird. Why didn't you let me heal my father."

"I do not choose who you heal. I did bless you with this power, but it is your power to control. You decide who to heal."

"Then why didn't I heal my father!" I jumped up. "Why couldn't I do it! You didn't bless me! You cursed me! Why did you give me a power that I couldn't use to heal the most important person in my life! Do you know what kind of torture that is!" I let out a frustrated scream and walked out of the water, not caring about my naked form.

She did nothing but stare at me as I threw my fit. After a long moment of her silence, I let out another screech.

"Speak damn you! Why did you curse me! You want me to heal the people you created! How could I possibly heal anyone? Do you know how I feel about not being able to heal my own father? Do you know what it would be like for me to not be able to heal anyone! You've put all of this pressure on me to save your people, but you have no idea if I can even heal anyone!"

She just sat there and continued to stare at me. I screeched wordlessly at her and turned away from her, staring out into the beautiful field. I thumped backwards onto my rear with my back still facing her.

The sound of soft singing filled the air. I closed my eyes, knowing the singing voices. After a moment I sighed and turned my head back to her.

She was holding up her hand, her palm full of rippling water. The water was showing a scene of the people. They were standing in a circle in the clear water. They were surrounding my body, holding hands, and singing songs in powerful voices.

I was being held by Edward, who, in turn, was being held up by his father. Esme was busy filling a small wooden bowl and washing it over mine and Edward's bodies. My throat suddenly felt very dry.

"These people are counting on you," the goddess said softly. "They need you. You think you cannot heal them, but you can. Your strength, intelligence, and power will be what guides them through the change that is coming."

I swallowed the thick lump in my throat. "What c-change?"

"A great change that has been needed for some time now." She said. "Come, sit with me for a while. Let's talk until the sun sets."

I sighed heavily and got to my feet. There was nothing I could do to fight this. I understand that now. If this almighty being had absolute faith in me, then maybe there was a chance that I would be able to heal these people. Perhaps this truly was my destiny. It's not like I had much of a choice anyways.

Several Hours Later

"So… my blood will turn these women into creatures like Edward and Carlisle and the rest of the men?"

"No, my child. Your blood will make them much stronger, but only in terms of child bearing. Once the women drink your blood, they will be able to produce more than one child. Even multiple children at a time."

"But I thought it was the men who gave women the seed? I thought it was them who decided how many children their mate had."

"No," She chuckled. "It is true that the men give the women their seed, but it is the women who decide what the seed becomes, even if they don't know it. I know Edward told you the story of Carlisle and his brother. His grandfather did not give his grandmother two seeds. He gave her one and she created two."

"How will the people react to this knowledge? It's not like they know me, or that they can even trust me."

"Your mere survival of the venomous bite will be proof enough to follow you. But that won't be what wins them over. It will be a display of your gift. It will be the death that you revive. Then, will the people turn to you and accept you as their new goddess."

I looked up from my hands to her.

"Their new goddess? But… but you are the goddess. You'll be staying, right?"

She smiled gently. "My time is coming to an end. It is soon going to be your time."

"B-but," I felt tears well up in my eyes. "Y-you're leaving? You can't leave. What will the people do without you?"

She chuckled. "They have you, my child."

I let out a very loud groan. "Why? What will I do without your guidance?"

"Once you awaken, you will not need my guidance. Your heart will know what to do."

My eyes widened. "Y-you're leaving after I wake up? You c-can't."

Her finger stroked my hair back before turning my head to the sunset that I hadn't noticed before. "The sun is setting on my time. While I am sad that I will be leaving my children, I am happy to join my mate and my child in the beyond. I wish to live free, as I once did."

"The people will not accept this. You are their mother. They worship you. You cannot leave them alone."

"They have you, my child. Now that you are here, they no longer need me."

My jaw started quivering and more tears began to fall. I balled my fists as the weight of the immense responsibility felt even heavier than before.

"Do not be sad my dear child. I am off to the beyond. While I have loved leading the people and nurturing them, it is time for me to move on. You are more than capable of taking my place."

"I-I'm not." I whimpered.

"But you are my child." She looked over at the horizon again. She inhaled deeply. "My time is almost over. Do not weep for me any longer. I belong to the beyond now. I am with my mate and my child. We are happy again."

"I don't know what to do without your guidance! Please! You can't leave me to figure all of this out by myself!"

"My child, I am not leaving you alone. You will have my wisdom and my memories."

I blinked several times. "The dreams… the visions about the warring families… I've been seeing those memories."

"You will continue to have those visions. They will guide you."

I bit my lip. "But what if I need to speak to you? What if there is something that the visions and dreams can't answer?"

"You will always be able to find me my child." She said softly. "Call out to me and I will find you."

My eyes widened as her body began to fade. I gasped and jumped to my feet.

"No! No you can't leave! Please!" I screeched as I tried to grab onto her.

My hands grasped nothing. She was gone. Her massive form has disappeared into a bright light. I closed my eyes as the brightness momentarily blinded me.

When I opened my eyes, a very large Ektix was standing before me. It was decorated with beautiful flowers. My eyes widened at the breathtaking sight.

Two more Ektix's appeared. The largest one nuzzled the flower-decorated one as the tiny one, who probably only came to my thigh, ducked under their legs in a childish, silly manner.

I bit my lip as the flowered-decorated Ektix looked back at me.

"P-please…" I begged softly.

The Ektix bowed its head to me before turning and walking towards the rising moon. I cried out, hoping she would turn back and reconsider, but the three of them continued on until they disappeared in the light of the moon.

I started to shake as I looked down at my hands. I was alone in this. She left me. She just… left me. And she expected me to replace her!

Hopefully none of you guys were expecting this little surprise! I tried to go through and fix all of the mistakes. If you spot any, let me know and I'll try to fix them. I can't make any promises because I'm super busy this weekend. I'm also going to try to update again, but no promises. I hope you enjoyed this chapter! Leave me a little review and let me know!
