Chapter 5: 100% Happiness
"ASH!" Serena said, running to him.
She rushed up to him, hugging him until he almost fell down.
"Ash! You're back!" She said happily.
She explained that she saw his battle with Leon, but never got a chance to congratulate him. "You were amazing, Ash" She said, hugging him again.
Bonnie watched them, before happily skipping inside.
Once Bonnie was inside, she and Starla went over to the window to see what was happening outside.
May then also came over. "What's happening right now?" She said before looking out the window too.
"I don't know," Bonnie said. "If only we knew what they were talking about."
They stayed there for a while, watching Ash and Serena chatting. Until Serena hugged him and said a few more words.
"How close are they?" May said, starting to get emotional.
Then Ash hugged her back and they all watched as Serena walked away.
"I can tell now, nobody has to answer." May sighed. "There goes my romance."
"Ash is coming inside!" Bonnie said quickly. "Act normal!"
Bonnie walked sleepily to her bedroom, pretending nothing happened.
"I got the guest room ready, Ash." Clemont said. Then he went to wake up Max, who fell asleep on a chair.
Serena was walking to the hotel she was staying at, wondering if she was dreaming.
"Is Ash really back?" Serena thought to herself, hoping she wasn't dreaming.
"If he is, I'm not hiding it anymore." Serena continued, as she walked into her room. "It's been 5 years, I have to tell him."
She took out her phone and decided to text him.
A few minutes before midnight:
"Hi Ash. It was great seeing you today." She started writing. But she paused before hitting the send button. "He's probably asleep right now, I shouldn't bother."
Serena was about to turn off her phone when someone texted her.
"Hi Serena!" Serena saw it was from Ash, and he sent a smiling emoji with it.
"Hi Ash! It was great seeing you today." Serena said, smiling as she sent it.
"Bonnie said that we'll be going on a picnic tomorrow, do you wanna come?" Ash texted, as Bonnie knocked on the door. "Ash?" Bonnie came in and saw who he was texting. "That should work, goodnight!" Bonnie said happily before heading back and closing the door.
It was past midnight when Serena read the message. as soon as she read it she was shocked.
"Am I going on a picnic with Ash?!" Serena could barely believe this, and pinched her arm. "Still awake." She said to herself.
"Sure! I can't wait to see you all there." She texted, feeling ecstatic.
The next morning Bonnie was at the front door of their house, waiting for Serena.
When she arrived Bonnie went inside to tell Ash, and a few minutes later they were all walking to Bonnie's secret place.
"They sure are walking slowly." Bonnie said to herself, running far forward. "Well I know what that means, the plan works rather well."
"Dedenne De-enne." Dedenne agreed.
"It was a really good thing Starla went out on a date with Clemont today," Bonnie continued. "If Clemont was around everything would be ruined."
A few minutes later they all arrived to the secret clearing.
"We're here!" Bonnie called out to them, as she spread out the picnic blanket. "Do you still have the picnic plates, Ash?"
"Right here!" Ash said, handing a basket to her.
As they sat down, Bonnie looked around. "Oh I forgot something back at the house." She said quickly. "I'll be right back."
"Should we stay here then?" Serena asked her.
"Of course!" Bonnie quickly replied. "I'll be right back!"
A few minutes later Serena kept thinking about what she was going to do.
"Should I tell him now?" Was the sentence that she kept thinking of. Followed with, "how should I though?"
Ash was thinking the same thing, just as nervous.
"Nothing will happen at all if I don't act." Serena thought, confidently. But quickly after became unsure. "But what if what happens isn't what I hope?!"
Bonnie somehow knew that was happening as she walked home. "Knowing them, it will take a while because they're nervous." She said to nobody in particular. "Maybe I'll just tell if they don't confess by tonight. Whether Ash is angry or not." Dedenne shook his head in agreement.
By the time it was sundown Ash and Serena were walking back, holding hands. Bonnie looked out the window to see, and Max watched with her.
"If only we could get a closer look." Bonnie sighed. "Maybe Clemont has binoculars?"
"Where is Clemont anyway?" Max asked her, looking around.
"Oh he's on a date right now." Bonnie said, looking over to him.
"With my sister?!" Max exclaimed, staring at her with a look that said: "What's going on?"
"No, silly. With Starla." Bonnie reassured him. "But i'm surprised they're not back yet. So where is May then?"
They turned around, to see her lying down on the couch on her phone.
"How long has she been here for?" Bonnie said aloud.
"Long enough to figure out what you two are up to." She replied, still tapping on her phone.
"Ok?" Max said, not sure if they could trust her yet.
"They're coming!" Bonnie quickly said. "Act casual!"
"Already am." May replied, getting up and walking outside to call someone.
"We're back!" Serena called out.
Max and Bonnie then came over to greet them.
"Welcome back! How was the picnic?" Bonnie asked them.
"Good, but you didn't come back. We also didn't save anything." Serena said apologetically.
"It was good!" Ash added.
"So... did anything happen while I was gone?" Bonnie asked, trying not to sound obvious.
"No?" Serena said, confused. "How come, Bonnie?"
Bonnie then turned to Ash and narrowed her eyes. Ash already knew what she was trying to say. "Really Ash? This was your perfect opportunity and you did nothing?! I can't believe you."
Bonnie then shook her head, and started walking to her room. "Right then. I'll just have to take matters into my own hand."
Then, the door opened again.
"We're back!" Starla shouted happily!
"Where were you?" Serena asked them, very curious.
"We just came back from a date!" Starla said, dancing around her. "The best date ever!"
"Oh a... A D-DATE?!" Serena almost shouted. "I'm dizzy." "Clemont went on a date?! If Clemont can go on a date before me then I..." Serena didn't finish what she was thinking, Ash had to catch her so that she didn't fall down.
When Serena woke up, she was shocked and didn't know where she was. She turned around and found her phone there. "8:30?! How long was I out for?" Serena said, surprised.
"A few hours." A voice said, coming in. It was Bonnie. "How do you like my room?"
"A few hours?!" Serena exclaimed.
"I need to tell you something very important, Serena." Bonnie said, sitting down.
Bonnie then explained everything that she and Ash planned, including the picnic. Pausing every few minutes to see if she didn't faint again.
Serena was more than shocked hearing this. "You're not lying to me are you?" She said, pinching her arm at the same time. "Does Ash really-" "I'm not lying." Bonnie said. "I'm not joking either, I am very serious."
Serena squealed in excitement, and began to bounce on the bed.
"DON'T BREAK MY BED!" Bonnie yelled. "Sit down."
"I can't sit down!" Serena said after she stopped. "I need to go over to Ash, NOW! Thanks Bonnie!" She slammed the door behind her and ran down the hallway.
She knocked on Ash's current bedroom door. "Ash?" She said, waiting.
"Serena! You're ok!" Ash said happily. "What happened?"
"Bonnie told me... Everything." She told him.
"E-everything?!" Ash said, startled. "Bonnie!? How could you do this to me!"
Then he noticed that Serena was giggling.
Serena then rushed up to him, tackling and hugging him until he fell onto the rug. Then she closed her eyes, and leaned downward.
Ash noticed what was about to happen, and happily leaned towards her.
"I love you, Ash!" Serena's final words were before kissing him.
