AN: I spent the last few days building models. That was a rather relaxing time now back to rwby. No joke the fact you all are enjoying this fic makes me want to write faster. I have plans for Penny/Lalah. But before she even comes back here's a chance to do some chapters about their time at Beacon before getting back to the plot since Jaunedice isn't a thing since he didn't sneak his way in. How will team ABVR and team PYSL handle long-winded professors, Weiss's insecurities, and worse of all homework? OH, GODS! I'm dreading the Vytal festival part.
Chapter 11
"Sir are you sure it's wise to keep this information from the military and even Atlas's council?" A white-haired woman in her mid twenty's asked Ironwood.
"Until I'm certain these attacks weren't an attempt at probing our defenses for a larger attack in the future. I don't want anyone to know. Here you go, Specialist Schnee." Ironwood wrote a note. 'I found too many back doors in the cct system. Watts was planning something. Can't risk this being known. Do not speak of this. Burn the note.' She activated a fire glyph behind the note and it burned to ash.
"How's Penny's training going?" The specialist asked.
"She's advancing a lot quicker than we anticipated. She's been asking to go to an Academy and depending on her next few tests I might allow it. How is the MS project going Winter?" James asked.
"The prototypes have exceeded all expectations general purpose should be rolling out soon." Winter Schnee reported while looking through her notes. Some caught her eyes like they were looking for non-Atlesin pilots.
Tai was going through the mail Junk was placed in one pile and bills in the other. He spotted a handwritten letter from Yang and opened it. Ruby and Yang had passed Initiation and had been sorted into teams. He was a little worried that Yang and Ruby were in separate teams but they sounded like good kids for the most part. She also explained that Ruby had a crush on Jaune and wasn't great at hiding it. He made a mental note to speak with Johnathan and Amelia. Zwei poked his head up and whined.
"Oh, do you want to go outside? Do ya?" Tai asked in a childish voice that got the corgi excited.
Ports class was dragging on and Yang was about to blow. If she had to hear another story from this man's youth she would scream. She couldn't understand how Re, Weiss, or Pyrrha could be taking notes. None of this had any real value. Her eyes wandered to Team ABVR. Her sister was building a pyramid of cards, Jaune was writing, Nora was sleeping, and Blake was reading the textbook.
"The moral of this story? A true Huntsman must be honorable!" Port hollered getting everyone's attention.
"A true Huntsman must be dependable!" His voice grew louder.
"A true Huntsman must be strategic, well-educated, and wise!" He finished off while a few claps echoed through the room.
"So, who among you believes themselves to be the embodiment of these traits?" No one was raising their hands until one shot up.
"I do!" Weiss confidently said.
"Such courage! Please retrieve your gear and return here." Port instructed.
"What the heck are you doing?!" Yang whispered to her partner.
"Showing that I belong on this team," Weiss replied.
Ruby was excited to see what happened especially when the floor opened and a caged Grimm came up. The whole room was quiet while Port explained that Weiss would be fighting a Boarbatusk. She would be graded on performance, how long it took and how much Aura she lost. This is what Ruby was waiting for, she loved seeing how other weapons worked against Grimm.
"WEISS! YOU CAN DO IT!" Ruby shouted words of encouragement. Weiss simply growled. She dodged the first charge and used a glyph to stun the Grimm.
"Go for the belly!" Ruby advised.
"I know what I'm doing!" Weiss shot back. The Grimm had time to shake off the stun and charged again hitting the wall.
"Don't let it Spin!" Ruby yelled.
"Would you shut it I'm not even on your team?" In the second the Grimm spun in a ball and knocked Weiss down causing her to drop her weapon. It circled around, but Weiss brought up a defensive glyph and when it slowed, it shocked it with lightning dust and ended it with a quick thrust of her weapon.
"It appears we are in the presence of a true huntress!" Port declared. The class ended shortly after and Weiss stalked over to Ruby.
"I have no idea what Ozpin saw in you. You are obviously too naive to be in this school!" Weiss yelled.
"But I was just trying to help." Ruby meekly said.
"Well don't!" Weiss yelled before stalking off. Jaune placed his hand on Ruby's shoulder and his usually gentle eyes held a dangerous glint.
"I'll be right back Ruby."
"Weiss!" Jaune called when he got close. Weiss spun ready to argue till she saw Jaune.
"Um, what do you want Jaune." Her demeanor changed.
"What you did was uncalled for," Jaune explained.
"What are you going to take her side?!" Weiss spoke with some anger.
"She's my teammate and someone I care for. So can you swallow your pride and try to get along with her?" Jaune asked.
"Why does she get special treatment? Why does she get to be in Beacon so early? WHY DOES SHE GET TO HAVE YOU?! YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO MARRY ME!" Weiss's perfect mask was cracking.
"She doesn't get any of those things. She worked hard to get where she is. She just caught Ozpins' attention. Most of all Ruby doesn't have me I'm her partner if anything happens that makes us a couple it will be because our relationship has evolved." Jaune pointed out. Weiss was quiet so he continued.
"She's kind and caring. She's a genius when it comes to weapons, hell she designed my weapon. She gets along with my sisters and treats them like friends. She sees me as just Jaune the son of Johnathan and Amelia, and not as Jaune Arc the grandson and potential heir of Richard Arc founder of Arcineering. That's why I think I might love her. So no I will never marry you, Weiss. You've let your father poison your mind." Jaune left her in the hall and went to look for Ruby.
Yang had followed Jaune to also give Weiss a piece of her mind but she wasn't sure now. Weiss had fallen to the floor and tearing up. It made Yang's big sister instincts act up. Instead of marching up to Weiss she instead helped her up and sat her on a bench.
"Are you also here to yell at me?" Weiss said between sniffles.
"*sigh* I was going to. I don't like it when people hurt my sister but right now you look like you need a hug." Yang replied.
"Why would you want to do that? I'm a failure as a Schnee." Weiss rubbed her eyes.
"I have a feeling that's got to do with the last bit of that conversation I heard. You don't need to explain if you don't want to, however, I don't view you as a failure. Prideful to a fault yes, but not a failure." Yang pulled Weiss in for a hug and stroked her back as she sobbed into Yang's uniform.
"I can't even call myself a Schnee anymore. My father told me if I wanted to run the company I had to get Jaune to marry me so we could merge our companies." Weiss whispered.
"Well, that's stupid," Yang said. "Your father sounds like a joke. Did you even have feelings for Jaune?"
"Not entirely. He was kind when we first met but I messed that up as well." Weiss explained.
"Well there you go you shouldn't be forced to marry anyone you don't love. Jaune was a little too harsh but he was right in a sense." Yang pulled back to look Weiss in the eyes. "You've let you jerk off of a father control you. In my opinion, being an heiress is overrated just be Weiss the best huntress you can be." Weiss's eye widened and she wiped her tears away.
"Do you think they'll forgive me?" Weiss sheepishly asked.
"You'll have to go apologies I can't tell you for certain but Ruby rarely holds grudges." Yang smiled at her partner.
Ruby sat on her bed fiddling with Cresent Rose that evening. Jaune was oddly quiet and looked guilty like he had done something bad. Was Weiss right was she really too young to be here? She was about to go see if she could talk to Ozpin when she heard footsteps.
"Man I feel like I was too harsh on her," Jaune mumbled when he walked in the room.
"What?" Ruby asked.
"Ah uh, Ruby hi. Ugh, I might have said some things to Weiss that I regret." Jaune said sitting on his bed.
"Just apologize. That's what friends are supposed to do." Ruby stated it like it was law.
"I did mean what…" He was cut off by a knock.
"I'll get it." Nora jumped to her feet and ran to the door. "Oh, what do you want?"
"Is… Ruby here?" Weiss asked.
"Yeah she is but if you so much as try to…"
"Nora! Just let her in." Jaune stopped Nora's threat.
"Thank you," Weiss said meekly. She looked at Ruby and Jaune and sighed. "Ruby I'm sorry for saying you didn't belong here."
"Weiss?" Ruby was stunned.
"Jaune was right I let my father dictate my attitude and I let all my stress build up until I lashed out at you. Can you ever forgive me?" Weiss bowed her head.
"Weiss I um, I just wanted to help but maybe I can be a bit childish at times. You were really mean. But If you want to we can try again. Friends?" Ruby stood before Weiss.
"Sure. I know it must be hard being here so early. So if you have any questions I can try to help." Weiss offered.
"Yay Everyone's all friends again!" Nora scooped Ruby and Weiss into a big hug. Jaune sat there laughing while Blake just rolled her eyes.
"Yay." She said in a monotone way. Once Nora stopped hugging them Jaune stood up.
"I might have been a little harsh with what I said. I'm glad you're working to fix some issues. Any friend of Ruby and Nora is a friend of mine." Jaune said.
"You weren't wrong though," Weiss said solemnly. "But I'd like to try being friends." She shook Jaunes' hand and started to leave.
"Good luck Jaune. Ruby, you've got a great person willing to stand by your side." Weiss left the room and went to her Teams dorm.
"There's a dust shipment coming in a few weeks will your men be ready?" A red-haired man in a bowler hat asked a masked individual.
"We've spent our lives ripping dust away from those slavers. The White Fang will be ready." The masked individual stated. There was a sound of heels and a woman in a red dress walked into the room.
"Ah, my two favorite people in the same room. I hope you are both prepared for what's coming." Her amber eyes sparkled.
"Of course Cider. Adam and I were just discussing the plains for the shipment coming in." The bowler hat man stated with a smile.
"Good. Because I would hate if you failed me, Roman." Cinder's left eye lit up as she rubbed her hand over his chest. She quickly turned and left. " I must make sure my story is air-tight so I'll be leaving. Don't do anything I wouldn't do."
AN: No one must know I actually felt bad for Weiss while writing this.
