Chapter 11: Promises and Consequences
Taiyang Xiao Long was cleaning dishes in the kitchen when the doorbell rang. Late afternoon light was pouring in through the windows, with evening not far way. The house was empty beside him at the moment, with all of Taiyang's daughters busy with their many and varied after-school activities. He had busied himself with some household cleaning and was beginning to plan what to make for dinner when the unexpected ringing of the doorbell drew his attention to the front door.
Taiyang wasn't expecting company today and it couldn't be his daughters, as they would have simply walked in. It was with some confusion that Taiyang opened the front door and he had his confusion replaced with surprise and concern as he saw that it was the Sheriff of Patch standing at his door.
"Tai" the older man said, tipping his wide-brim hat to the Huntsmen.
"Sheriff" Taiyang replied with a small nod of his own. "Is there a problem here?"
The man in charge of law enforcement on the island didn't immediately answer, instead shuffling nervously on his feet. After several moments hesitating, he took several steps to the side, revealing that there was someone behind him.
Even with a thick black sweater and the hood covering her head and her face turned away, Taiyang immediately knew that it was Blake. She was supposed to be at gymnastic club practice, so why was she being escorted home by the police?
Taiyang narrowed his eyes at the Sheriff. "What happened?" his voice was calm but carried a deadly edge.
It was a widely know fact that Taiyang Xiao Long was one of the most honest, kind-hearted and honorable men around; it was also known that if your messed with his beloved daughters, he would break all your bones. Nothing would stop him, least of all a badge and uniform, so the Sheriff had to trend carefully.
"T-there was an incident in town earlier, a robbery, and the victim identified Miss Blake as the culprit." The Sheriff explained as calmly as he could.
"You arrested my daughter?! And didn't call me! Who was it accusing her?"
"We didn't arrest her, just picked her up and escorted her until the matter could be resolved, which it was. Everything was above board and no official charges will be filed."
"…Who?" was all Taiyang said. The Sheriff tugged nervously at his collar for a moment before relenting.
'Rubar" he said with a sigh.
"Old Man Rubar is a mean-spirited old coot, on top of being a vile, scum-sucking racist. What ever he says has less credibility then the dirt on my shoes."
Taiyang was incensed; had they really listened to that old bastard for even a moment? More then once he had muttered aloud anti-Faunus comments when Blake and her family had walked by and more then once Taiyang had almost given into the urge to break his jaw.
"Be that as it may, he is still a citizen of Vale and a resident of Patch, so when he reported that Miss Blake had stolen his family heirloom, we did our job." The Sheriff's voice was level, but it was clear he didn't like the situation at all; he disliked Old Man Rubar almost as much as Taiyang.
"Heirloom? You mean his mother's brooch that he claims was given to her by the Last King of Vale because she was his lover, and by extension he is the heir of the Last King?" Taiyang was exasperated. "That man is a pathological liar. Everything he says is complete crap."
"Yes, well, we still have to follow procedure and we found that Miss Blake was only a few blocks away. We escorted her to Rubar's house to get to the bottom of all this."
"If you let that bastard spew out a racist tirade against my daughter…" The threat of the Xiao Long patriarch was very clear.
"I didn't let that happen; I swear." The Sheriff held up his hands in a defensive posture. "We just asked some questions before we searched the premise and we found the missing item on our second search, hidden in his rhubarb patch. No idea how it got there, but it was enough to close the matter; especially since Rubar confessed to not actually seeing Blake at all and just suspected her because of…you know. I escorted Miss Blake home personally so I could explain the situation in person, as a courtesy to you."
'So that old coot just wasted everyone's time. You should have called me the moment, the moment, my daughter became involved."
"I'll remember" The Sheriff looked like he wanted to say more, but decided instead that it was time to leave. With a goodbye to Taiyang and a final apology to Blake for the inconvenience, he headed back to his truck and began to drive away.
He decided not to comment on how odd it was that they found the brooch on their second search, despite being very thorough the first time. The only change was that Blake had been brought over and there had been a short time when his back was to her, being preoccupied with keeping Old Man Rubar from going off the handle. With no one looking, it would have been possible to quickly place the stolen brooch in the rhubarb bush so it could be found and clear the thief of all suspicion.
The Sheriff had figured that it just wasn't worth it. It would be like kicking a hornet's nest, going against the Xiao Long Family, and wouldn't accomplish anything. If there was an issue to be had here, he could trust that Taiyang would deal with it himself.
Father and daughter stood on the front porch, silently watching the dust cloud from the police vehicle slowly fade away. The silence stretched on for a time before Taiyang turned to wards his daughter.
"Blake…I thought you had gymnastics all day."
Blake, who hadn't looked at her father in the eyes this whole time, continued to stare at the ground.
"It…got cancelled, so I decided to walk around town for a while and I got caught up in all this crap by accident."
"Is that all?"
The question hung in the air and Blake kept her mouth shut and eyes down. Taiyang cupped her chin in one hand and gently, but firmly, raised her head to look her in the eye.
He spoke no words, but his eyes conveyed his question clearly.
Did you do it?
Blake's face was still and controlled but she could never hide the truth and her eyes gave the answer.
Yes
Taiyang's only response was a tightening of his eyes and the corners of his mouth falling slightly in the beginning of a frown, but that was too much for Blake. The disappointment he felt over her actions struck deeper than any blow and she began a choked apology as the tears began to fall.
Taiyang immediately embraced his daughter and held her close, comforting her now as he had done so many times before. Blake's legs gave out and they ended up sitting on the porch as parent held their child in this moment of sorrow.
She didn't mean for things to happen this way. Old Man Rubar had been so cruel to her over the years and after a particularly mean comment a few days ago, she decided to get even. Taking his family heirloom, his most precious possession, seemed a fitting punishment.
But it didn't work out that way. Rubar hadn't seen her at all during the theft, but his prejudice made him immediately suspect that it had to be the only teenage Faunus on the island. He called the police on her before she could get far enough away. She had been forced to ditch the brooch, effectively giving it back to him. More then that, Rubar was the type of person who loved to have a legitimate reason to be angry and outraged, so she probably had made his day.
Instead she had wasted the time of the Police and even worst, she had disappointed her father. This was the man she loved with all her heart, the person she wanted to make proud. The tears she shed were from the shame of letting him down, of guilt for hurting him after all he did for her.
Hers were the tears born from her love; contrition in its purest form.
That day, Blake got a hard lesson in how spite wasn't a precise tool, and that it could easily hurt those you didn't mean too, including those closest to you. All actions have consequences and those fueled by anger and hate, as hers had ultimately been, could have painful ones for your loved ones.
Taiyang pulled down Blake's hood and gently stroked her head as the young girl cried into his shoulder. Long minutes passed before the sobbing subsided and many more before Blake was able to lift her head and look at her father. A sad smile graced his face as her wipe the last few tears from his little girl's face.
He understood why she did it, hell he had done lots of crazy things of questionable legality when he was young. Being the child of two renowned Huntsmen and being on the path to be one yourself lent itself to feeling like the world was your oyster and you had the power to make things the way you want them to be. More Huntsmen and Huntress fell of the right path, going on to become little better than criminals, then the general public was made aware of. Blake's actions were hardly the stuff of an irredeemable criminal, but they had taught Blake better than that, she knew better then that and was better then that and yet had still given in to the desire to take revenge on someone who had wrong her.
He looked at one of the four most precious people in the world to him and struggled with what to say. He knew his daughter better then she knew herself and simply making her promise not to do it again wouldn't work. She would do her best to keep any promise she made to him, he was sure, but it would become a cage that she would strain against until she accidently did something even worse.
That slippery slope was every parents' worse fear and he didn't know the magical words that would make everything all right for now and forever. He only had his own experiences, morals and conviction to fall back on and had to make this decision all on his own.
It was times like these that he missed Summer the most.
"What you did," Taiyang started, speaking gently, "was done out of anger and hate. Whether he deserved it or not doesn't matter; your thoughts and emotions are what direct your actions and give them meaning. If you try to do something you think is good for the wrong reasons, then only bad things will come of it."
"I don't what you to be something you're not though; you'll always be you. I want you to be the best possible version of you that you can be. I know that you aren't someone who will always follow the rules or letter of the law; you're the kind of person who will do things their own way to see justice done. But please, promise me that your actions will come from a good place, from your desire to do good and make the world a better place."
Taiyang place his hand on Blake's shoulders and looked intently into her eyes. "Promise me, that you'll always act with good intentions, and that you'll always try to do more good then bad in this world. I know that what I, and you mother, would want from you and your sisters. Promise?"
Blake nodded eagerly. "Yes, I promise."
There was no hint of her lying in her words or eyes, so Taiyang smiled brightly as he helped her back onto her feet. They stood in silence for a few moments more before Taiyang ushered her inside, where she helped her father finish cleaning the dishes and make dinner.
No more words about the situation was said and neither said anything about it to her sisters. For now, the simple promise was enough for both of them.
Present Day
Dawn's early light shone over the city of Vale, with many people and businesses already up and about. In a café just off the main streets of the city, Blake Xiao Long sat at an outdoor table and absentmindedly stirred the cup of tea before her. She occasionally took a sip, but her mind was far away, towards both the event from last night and from the day she made her Promise.
It was an incredibly simple Promise to make; don't do bad, only do good. It was the kind of promise a young child would make, not someone on the verge of adulthood. But with the swirling confusion of being a teenager and the growing complexities of the adult world, that Promise had become a rock she could cling to, a simple but solid foundation to stand on.
It wasn't perfect, her fumble two nights ago being a prime example and there was a huge moral quandary over being a thief at all, but she had faith that as long as she focused on doing good and not being selfish or petty, everything would work out in the end.
But despite her best efforts, everything had gone wrong. Her actions to punish the wicked were being overwhelmed by this string of Dust robberies and her relationship with her sisters was suffering. Part of her wanted to rush back to the dorms and tearfully apologize to Weiss but another part was determined to prove that she wasn't wrong in doing what she did.
How would she do that was the question she had been pondering all morning, with the only result being that her tea was getting cold.
She looked up as Sun Wukong took the seat opposite of her, a tea cup help up close to his face by his tail. He was looking at her expectantly.
"What?" she asked.
"I don't know. Beside a short introduction and instructions to come here, you've barely said a word to me all morning. A simple thank you would be nice" Sun's tone made it clear that while miffed, he wasn't seriously upset.
Still, he had carried her to a safe spot after she collapsed and had watched over her during the night. It was more then he was obligated to do and she was grateful.
"I'm sorry, and thank you for everything." Blake said. "I'm just…a little confused and overwhelmed right now."
"I understand. Seeing a body as great as mine in the pale moonlight would make anyone swoon"
Blake's eyes narrowed and her cat ears flattened at Sun's remark, a low growl coming from her throat.
Sun held his hands up in defence. "I'm kidding, I'm kidding. So, what's the problem?"
Blake closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to figure out how to put this whole confusing situation into words.
"I…got into an argument with my teammate. It got pretty heated and some hurtful words were exchanged, I went into the city to get away from her for a bit. Not the smartest move when you've been running on no sleep for a while."
"Your teammate? Was that one of the girls who was with you yesterday?"
"Yeah, the white one. All three of them are my teammates and we're also sisters, so that make this fight even more difficult.
"You guys are siblings?" Sun asked, surprised. "You guys don't look…"
"We're family." Blake replied, her voice firm. She gave Sun a stern look, making the monkey raise his hands again defensively.
"I don't mean anything by that. Hell, back in Vacuo, there wasn't anything like a 'normal' family unit; clans are made up of both those born together and those who choose to stand side by side."
Sun took a sip of his tea, his tail handling the cup as well as his hand would have.
"But fights between family members can be really difficult, so I'm guessing you can't just smooth this all over with some flowers and apologies?"
Blake nodded and took a sip of her own tea, grimacing as it was now completely cold. This whole thing boiled down to Weiss disagreeing with Blake being a thief, believing that she as doing no good with it. She figured that her twin had been harbouring these feelings for a while now, with this new crime spree by the White Fang apparently setting her off.
Was the White Fang behind it? Was it Roman Torchwick or maybe somebody else? Whoever it was, they were terrorizing Vale and counteracting all the good Blake was trying to do. If she could find out who was behind all of this and help put a stop to all of this, she could tip the scales back into balance and prove to Weiss and herself that she was going good out here in the City.
But where could she even start? She knew how to be a thief and how to sneak into places, but she relied on Tukson to point her in the right direction. She didn't want to involve him or anyone else in her problem but this task seemed too big for just her.
Blake let out a yawn and raised her arms to stretch. She had gotten a decent amount of sleep last night but it was less then she would have wanted and thinking over this problem was making her tired all over again.
The sound of Sun coughing brought her attention back to her companion. He looked like he had started choking while drinking his tea, his eyes wide as he looked at Blake. What could have surprised him all of a sudden?
It took Blake a moment to realized that she had arched her back while stretching and was thrusting her chest forward, her ample breasts directed at the young male in front of her. With her arms in the air, she was cutting quite the figure.
The black Xiao Long pondered for a moment. Whatever she decided to do, chances were good that it would be difficult and dangerous. Having a second person would make things easier, but she didn't want to involve anyone else, let along someone she just met.
On the other hand, Sun had stuck his nose into her business of his own free will and seemed to enjoy getting into trouble. This was an important issue, so Blake decide she should secure his cooperation.
While Sun appeared to be someone who would jump into danger and adventure without a second thought, asking him to help in this particular matter might be a stretch; she didn't know him well enough yet. Logic and reason probably wouldn't work and she wasn't going to beg, so Blake decided to strike while the iron was hot and use her feminine charms.
"You know, I really am thankful for what you did. You helped me when I needed it the most, like a knight in shining armour"
Blake lowered her arms slowly and leaned across the table, looking Sun directly in the eye. Her voice was sultry and seductive…or at least she hoped it was. Overt flirting and teasing were Yang's domain and she had done very little of it even back when she was dating at Signal.
It worked like a charm, with Sun's face turning bright red and his eyes glued to hers. he tried to speak but it came out as a rambling, stuttering mess, very unlike him, and so he simply nodded.
'And…a real knight would help a lady in need, right?" Blake tugged at the front cut of her shirt, revealing less then a centimetre of more skin.
She could almost see the steam coming from the flustered monkey-boy's ears and she began to understand the great and terrible power she wielded. With great power came great responsibility and she vowed not to take it too far; she just wanted to convince him to help, not cruelly manipulate him.
"You see," Blake elaborated. "Someone is going around the city and robbing Dust stores. It's making me angry and I want to put a stop to it. It will also help me patch things up with my sister. You'll help me…won't you?"
"I…I…um…Yes, of course! But I don't know how…wait, on the boat, I heard some guys talking about a huge Schnee Dust shipment coming in. Bet you anything that it will be where those Dust thieves hit next."
"Really?! That's great!" Blake beamed a very genuine smile at Sun. "That's a perfect lead to go on"
Sun nodded and smiled into his cup of tea. Despite some strange turns, this little jaunt to Vale was during out swell. He had met and was now getting in good with a cute, and very sexy, Faunus girl; Neptune was going to be so jealous when he found out.
It was at the moment that a female waitress arrived at their table, pushing a huge serving cart piled high with various dishes. There was a mountain of pancakes beside an equal mountain of waffles, every time of egg dish imaginable, what looked to be a whole pig's worth of bacon and much more. Was there are big group coming in soon or something?
"Your order, Miss Xiao Long" The waitress said in an even and level tone, like this wasn't an uncommon thing. Blake's eyes lit up as the huge amount of food was placed in front of her. She picked up her fork and knife and was about to dig in when she realized something.
"Crap! I didn't order anything for you" She said to the stunned Sun. "You can order anything, it's my treat"
The monkey-boy didn't answer immediately, still trying to process what was happening. When did she have time to order all this? How was this place about to fill that order? Did the reason she come to this café was because she knew that they would did it without batting an eye, because she was a regular or something?
Sun swallowed hard before speaking up. "I'll have a fruit cup; extra bananas please"
The waitress nodded and headed back to give the kitchen the order. Sun meanwhile was now bearing witness to one of the Xiao Long Sisters stuffing their faces as this sexy girl dug with a gusto.
Sexy? Sun though for a moment before decide that, while that description was still accurate, many other words could be attached to her. He settled on 'unique' for now and accept that his trip to Vale had thrown another bizarre turn at him.
He was really starting to wonder where this would all end up at.
At the same time, a peculiar scene was unfolding in the Team RWBY dorms. When Blake didn't return that night, Yang and Ruby were naturally worried about her. She had left her scroll behind, so they had no way to find out where she was and it was too late for them go out and look. Weiss was all cold and uncaring, saying that it was her own fault and that she was going to get an earful when she was back in the morning. With that, the white Xiao Long went to bed and didn't say another word on the subject. Ruby and Yang followed suit, unease and worry making their sleep less then peaceful.
Now with morning here, and Blake's bed still empty, the cold and uncaring demeanor of Weiss changed slightly…
"WAAAHHHH! She's gone! Gone for ever! I drove my twin sister away!"
The proper and elegant girl was currently laying on Blake's bed, burying her face into a pillow and crying her eyes out. Her ironclad resolve to stick to her guns in this dispute crumbled in the face of Blake's extended absence. Even during their worst arguments, the Sisters never stayed away from each other for long. Even if they were still mad, they would always come back, if a little cold and huffy until the eventual reconciliation.
Blake's departure was abnormal and was making them all worried. Yang and Ruby were looking on silently as Weiss cried her eyes out into her missing twin's pillow. It was a heartbreaking sight, seeing the normally stoic and collected girl reduced to helpless tears over the belief that her words had hurt her sister enough to make her run away for good.
On the other hand, it was also adorable, hilarious and hilariously adorable watching the normally rational girl being completely overwhelmed with pure emotion and regretting her actions so vehemently. It was an uncommon occurrence and Yang was holding up Scroll and recording the scene for personal posterity.
"Come on Weiss" Ruby said calmly. "Blake isn't gone 'forever', she just stayed out for the night."
"NO! She's gone and it's all my fault." Weiss wailed, refusing to listen to reason. "I was a horrible sister who made her think that I didn't care about her. How will I ever be able to face Dad again? What would Mom think about me? WAAAAGGHHHH!"
With another cry, Weiss buried her face back into the tear-soaked pillow and resumed her mourning. Strong emotions were the cornerstone of the Xiao Long family and despite her cold exterior, Weiss wasn't an exception. This occasionally meant that they could get carried away or, like now, be so overwhelmed and fixated that they wouldn't listen to reason.
Ruby pinched the bridge of her nose. It was great that Weiss understood how she had hurt Blake and was sorry for it, but just lying around feeling sorry for herself wasn't going to fix anything.
The young reaper let out an angry sigh as she realized that she had been that way not too long ago. Being a team leader now meant that she had to be level-headed and keep an eye on the bigger pictures. It really was weird and unnatural for her to be the mature and rational one.
Ruby looked over at Yang. Normally, she would have leapt to comfort and console Weiss right away but instead she was just watching the scene and recording it with her scroll. Yang's words from yesterday came back to her, that it was up to her to fix any problems in this Team and not leave it to her older sister anymore. She wasn't sure where this particular issue fell on being a Team problem versus family, but Yang seemed determined to force Ruby to act like a leader.
"Yang…can you please do your thing and calm Weiss down." Ruby said, her voice level.
"…Is that an order?" Yang replied, her eyes focused on her Scroll.
Ruby stiffened. "We can't look for Blake effectively if Weiss stays here feeling sorry for herself. We need her to help us and you can calm her down better then I can. So yes, that is an order from your team leader." Her voice was steady and firm as she looked at her older sister.
Yang was silence for a moment, before quickly pocketing her Scroll and flashing Ruby a big smile. "No problem Rubes."
The blonde took a step forward towards the bed and spread her arms out wide.
"Okay Weiss, enough with the moping. Come here and you'll feel better."
For several moments, Weiss didn't response, though her sobbing stopped. Suddenly, quick as lightening, she jumped out of bed and wrapped her arms around Yang and burying her face in a place that had become a sanctuary for her and her sisters over the last few years; Yang's large chest.
Yang embraced her sister, stroking her hair and gently whispering that everything was alright. Using her Aura, she raised her body temperate around her chest a bit. Soft, warm and safe; the key ingredients to calm her sisters down.
Ruby sighed in relief; under Yang's loving care, Weiss would be ready to go in a couple of minutes.
"Is everything alright?"
Ruby turned towards the door in surprises, and saw the faces of Team JNPR peering through the partially opened doorway.
"I…guess you heard all that?" Ruby rubbed the back of her head in embarrassment.
"Yeah…kind of hard not to" Nora said as she pushed the door finally open and JNPR entered the room. "So, what's all the crying and wailing about?"
Ruby quickly explained the situation, leaving JNPR quite shocked. Team RWBY had always seemed so close-knit and happy, it was sad they could have such a fallen. Ren and Nora both looked away at the thought; they had secrets that could hurt their team if they were ever discovered.
"Don't worry Ruby" Jaune said, stepping forward. "We'll help you search the city for Blake. That's what friends do, right guys!"
After a barely-perceptible pause, Ren, Nora and Pyrrha nodded. Blake was their friend, so helping to find her and make things right was the least they could do.
"Good. So…where do we start?" Jaune said, deflating somewhat as he realized he had no idea how exactly to go about this.
Before Ruby could answer, Weiss suddenly moved away from Yang, extracting her head for her busty sister's deep cleavage and striding forwards with a confident step. With her head held up and her arms linked behind her back, she looks all of being some sort of regal military commander, rather then a girl who had been crying her eyes out a minute ago.
"What we need to do is search this city inch by inch. We should divide into groups and comb the city in a grid-pattern. Give me five minutes and I'll have a map and timetable drawn up"
The white Xiao Long then jumped onto one of the dorm's desks and dramatically pointed towards the window, and the city of Vale beyond.
"We are going to find our wayward kitty-cat and bring her home, come hell or high water!"
Nora tiled her head as she looks up at her friend. "Are you planning to go out in your pajamas?"
Weiss finally noticed her state of undress, and hopped off the desk with red cheeks.
"Well…we will launch our search as soon as I get showered and dressed. But after that, hell or high water!"
With that proclamation, Weiss hurried into the bathroom and locked the door behind her, leaving the others quite bemused. Team JNPR returned to their dorm to get ready while Ruby and Yang did the same, getting both their own and Weiss's clothes and equipment ready. They had a full day of work ahead of them.
In a hidden clearing in the depths of the Forever Falls, unknown to the authorities of nearby Vale, a dozen Bullhead transports were being prepped. Even though it was still several hours before they were due to take off for the planned operation, lots of work was needed to be done before then. Scores of people were busying themselves with preparation, but there weren't like the typical crews one would find in the Kingdom. These people were all wearing white Grimm masks and every one had some sort of Faunus trait visible.
Roman Torchwick surveyed the White Fang's improvised air base with a smirk. These animals could really get work done when properly motivated. A fleet of airships and the crews to pilot them was a big step up from robbing small Dust shops at night. His new 'patron' sure had some serious connection to get all of this without alerting the authorities. The heist they would pull tonight would put the hauls he was doing just a few months ago to shame.
He lit a cigar and strolled through the base like a king walking through his domain. Chances were good that they would have to abandon this place after this heist and relocate to somewhere completely different. That would be fine, as Cinder plans seemed to be hinting that they would be going somewhere else and doing something far larger in the future.
This fiery witch's grand scheme would probably go down in flames before the end and Roman planned to jump ship before he got burned. Still, this was one hell of operation he was part of and he was going to make sure that he made a handsome profit before it came to an end.
"Torchwick"
Roman stopped in his tracks and turned around with a loud groan. Approaching him was the leader of this renegade band of White Fang, the 'true' White Fang as them called themselves, Adam Taurus. The masked swordsman was accompanied by a newcomer, a very slim women in a black body suit with attached hood. The hood was down for now, revealing brown hair styled very similarly to a chameleon's tail.
"Oh look, our little family has a new member" Roman comment with obvious sarcasm.
"This is Ilia. She's come all the way from Menagerie to aid us here in Vale."
"Well, I sure she'll fit in with the rest of the freaks we come here. There should be an easy job we can find for you. Maybe cleaning the toilets or…"
"The mission tonight." Adam said, cutting off Roman's insults. "Both me and Ilia will be going with you…to make sure that you do your job right"
"I can assure you; I don't need a minder watching over my shoulder"
"This isn't up for negotiation, Torwick" Adam replied, standing firm.
Roman took a long drag of his cigar and let out a large cloud of smoke.
"What if I…insist on a re-negotiation…"
The two red-haired man squared off, Roman gripping his cane and Adam placing his hand on his sword. They stared at each other for a long moment, a smirk appearing on Roman's face as he sized his opponent up.
The stand-off ended as Ilia took a step forward. With her Grimm mask, you couldn't see her eyes but Roman could feel her glare at him. His smirk disappeared as he looked her over and, after a moment of thought, he turned away.
"Fine, fine." He conceded, throwing his hands into the air. "You can come along on our little field trip. The more the merrier, and all that crap"
With that, he stalked away. While it was annoying, it's wasn't be a big issue and more capable fighters was always a boon, but Roman Torchwick just didn't like being forced to do things…his current involvement with Cinder aside.
He took another long drag of his cigar, a smile returning to his face. No matter what, things weren't going to get boring anything soon, and that was a reward in itself.
Tonight, was shaping up to be an interesting trip.
That's the end for this short chapter. I decided to divide the next chapter into two so I could get something out for RWBY Volume 7's release. Hope to have the next part, which will feature a much larger fight at the docks involving not only Team JNPR but Adam and Ilia as well, up before too long but again no promises. Work and School are eating into my free time, alongside other activities and projects that I want to pursue. Next time I will be laying out a bit on what my plans for the future of this story will be.
Until then, I hope you enjoyed this chapter and if you did, please leave a review or PM to let me know what you think.
