THWIP!
Rain thrashes down on the pavement, as webs sprawl out on each passing building.
THWIP!
'I could've saved him.'
THWIP!
Thunder booms across the cloudy New York skyline, as lighting strikes the outer suburbs.
THWIP!
A black shadow swings across, building to building sporadically. Never staying still for a passing moment.
THWIP!
Blood leaked out of the black suit, staining the already red pieces of fabric.
THWIP!
The suits tears reflect the young man's mental state.
THWIP!
He made it closer and closer to the place he once called home, unclear on if that was his destination.
THWIP!
Thirty Minutes Earlier
'Rhino's one tough bastard.'
The superhero thought, swinging around delivering a swift kick to the head. He bounced back quickly, attempting to avoid the large spike protruding from the oversized man's helmet.
"Quit moving puny spider!" The man roared loudly, remarkably like the animal he named himself after.
The hero, known as Spider-man mumbled quickly, "I'm sure you would love that."
"WHAT!?"
He winced, the Rhino was incredibly loud. He webbed his legs, swinging behind him, using his agility given from the spider bite 5 years ago.
'This should work."
He maneuvered through his legs, webbing his core restricting the movement of the Rhino, then swiping under an attack. He jumped off the fist thrust at him, launching backwards in between two buildings.
'If I build enough tension I could launch directly into his face. Literally. His movements are restricted by the webs. He can't move.'
The spider-hero attached webs between the two buildings, building an effective slingshot while the Rhino was distracted. He pulled, tension caused the brick walls to tremor, before releasing, flying feet first into the Rhinos face.
BOOM!
The collision between the Rhinos massive body and the concrete sidewalk rung out, cracking the pavement in a 30 feet radius and breaking a fire hydrant.
"Ah, finally. Knocked out cold. Hopefully the concrete is warm!" The hero quipped, before swinging away as cops arrived on the scene.
RING!!!
RING!!!
"Hello?" He asked, answering the ringing phone through his mask.
"Hey Michael. Is the Rhino done for?" The voice rang over.
Michael continued, responding thoughtfully,"Yes, he's finally down Peter. Now to find the other two. I've already taken down the Vulture, Electro, and now Rhino. That leaves Dr. Otto, Sandman, and The Lizard."
" Good job! It's starting to rain, the Lizard will be hard to track. He might be with the others, but he never seemed to work well with them. Sandman will have to be indoors, the rain would turn him into mud."
Peter keeps talking, his intelligence clearly showing.
" Otto is smart, but he'd need to be near equipment in case his neural interface fries. That leaves three locations, one the Alchemax building, it's indoors and protected with goons. I'd suggest checking there first."
Michael started swinging North, the direction of the Alchemax building. It was fairly remote, near the outskirts of New York (The city). "Thanks Pete, your brains are always helpful."
Peter chuckled over the phone, "Yeah of course Michael. Be safe alright?"
"No promises."
The call ended, and Michael finally appeared at the building. It was protected by plenty of henchman, just like Peter said it would.
"Keep your guns ready, Boss said we need to be ready."
He heard chatter between a small group of three, before they split apart.
Rain continued pattering over dirt, creating mud and watering the grass.
Michael crouched over a light, surveying the area and scanning it with his masks interface. 18 men, 6 armed, 2 with shields. He zip-lined with his webs to a different light post, crouching over an unsuspecting guard. He lowered himself on a web, getting barely within reach, before grabbing him by the head. He covered his mouth and suffocated the guard, leaving him unconscious but alive. Webbing the guard to the light post, he moved closer towards a group of two guards.
Michael shot a web farther away, setting a distraction so he could take down the one of them. As expected, they split, one investigating and the other waiting behind. He snuck behind, blending into the dark surrounding with his suit, before knocking out the guard. Dragging him away and webbing him to a wall to ensure no escape, he moved onto the investigating guard. Crawling on the wet pavement and using his suits tech to camouflage into the grounds material, he snuck behind. He grabbed the guards foot, forcing him to trip and fall to the ground hard, knocking him out.
"Who's there?!"
"Shit, he heard."
Another guard nearby heard the commotion, and Michael quickly swung away onto the nearest light post. Scanning, he found the electrical box, and swung to it as quickly as possible. He ripped the wires out, letting them drop to the floor. The lights outside the building went out.
"What happened?!"
"What's going on?"
Commotion between guards went on, as Michael dropped down and took a guard out silently. Two more appeared, moving around a transport truck. His camouflage activated, rendering him nearly invisible. He crawled quickly and silently, the vibranium built into his suit working wonders. He moved around, crawling behind the two moving guards, waiting for them to investigate the body on the ground. The moment one of them kneeled, he shot webs at both of their heads, pulling them together. They were both knocked unconscious, leaving a pile of three webbed guards behind.
Michael looked over to the power grate, and saw two guards there, one fixing it, another watching guard. It was too dark to see, with clouds blocking all natural sunlight and rain pounding down, muffling the sounds of bodies dropping. These two were armed, and Michael moved to a high vantage point on the roof, surveying the main outer entrance to Alchemax.
'Taking them out silently will be hard, they're both armed and the rain won't muffle gunshots, and the flash will alert everyone to the location. I'll use the rain and electrocute the both of them.'
Michael crawled down the wall, getting a better angle. He loaded the electric webs into his modified web shooters, aiming them directly between the two. He shot it, the blue light illuminating the area for a few seconds, before going out again.
'If I was down there with them I would've been electrocuted as well. '
He moved , grabbing the unconscious guards and moving them to a more obscure area behind some trees, webbing them to the forest floor.
'I used to think this spider-bite was the worst thing to ever happen to me, especially the vision changes. However it's truly been my greatest gift.'
Michael moved again, closer towards the last two unarmed guards. He traveled quickly on foot, swinging would be too noticeable.
"Hey, the guards near the entrance haven't responded. Go check on them." One of the men said, obviously the leader.
He left following the orders. Michael took down the leader, slamming him down against the concrete, breaking a few bones. He looked in the direction of the other guard and he wasn't alone. The last 7 had bundled up, 4 armed and 2 with shields.
He moved swiftly, getting within range. He took the unarmed guard out, alerting the others. Shots were fired.
Lighting flashed, Michaels shadow moving around.
Michael dodged them, moving quickly around and knocking another out, slamming him against the wall. He was armed. Shots were fired.
Lighting flashed, the shots illuminating the red spider symbol on his black suit.
Michael was shot at, scarcely dodging them, before dragging one armed guard towards him with webs. He dodged the first strike thrown, going around and kicking his knee out. A chop to the head finished him.
Lighting flashed, the light showing the two charging guards armed with shields.
Michael shot a web at one, pulling the shield away and swinging it at both of them. He jumped, shooting his last vibranium web bomb at them, webbing them to the floor.
Lighting flashed again, the red lenses of his suit glinting.
The last two armed men were grouped, preparing to run. Michael webbed them together, before knocking them both out with a precise kick.
'Alright, finally these men are down. I need to find an entrance. Preferably a silent one.'
His lenses turned blue momentarily, signaling a scan. Two vents were found, one near the main entrance and another on the other side of the building.
He zipped to the first vent entrance, crawling through the surprisingly large vent area. He heard scientists speak, before alarms suddenly rang.
"The Lizard is here! Run! Go-" A scientist spoke out, yelling before he was killed.
Blood splattered against the white walls, some
hitting the vent Michael was currently crawling through, smearing into his suit.
'Shit, I need to hurry before he kills more people.' Guilt wracked his conscience. 'I could've saved him if I defeated those guards quicker.'
Michael continued moving faster through the vents, trying to find an exit. He eventually found one, however the building had gone silent. He dropped down, heading a growl distant in another hallway. He opened a door, then zipped to the ceiling, attempting to observe the area from a high point of view.
His eyes went blue once more, the area lighting up in his view. Night vision showed blood splattered all over the room, bodies on the floor.
'Oh my God. This. It's a massacre. No one survived. I need to hurry.'
Michael dropped down, careful to avoid bodies. He moved quickly, blood sticking to his feet.
A roar sounded throughout the facility, from the west corridor it seemed like. He moved quickly, using his webs to travel quicker.
'Something's off. I feel it.' Michaels spider sense rang, alerting him.
He moved quickly, dodging and sticking to the wall, dodging the large green lizard. It roared once more, before attacking again. His tail swung, striking the wall Michael was sitting on. The impact hit him hard, shattering the brick wall and sending him rolling on the floor.
He met face to face with the corpse of a scientist, their face stuck in dread. His spider-sense rang again, and he shot a web above him, sliding out of another claw attack. He hopped up, blood trailing the back of his suit. Michael sent a web to the Lizards face, blocking his vision and dampening his smell.
He moved quickly hopping onto the ceiling and gained momentum, running and kicking the Lizards face, following up with disabling punches to his arms. The Lizard fell back, momentarily concussed. Michael shot webs, swirling around him, creating a web. Michael sit at him quickly, knocking him over, landing on top of him. The Lizard growled again, before he jumped, slamming down on his head, knocking him out.
"I'm sorry Dr. Curt. You've killed to many people." Michael spoke.
He bent down, moving his mask to reveal his mouth. Fangs shined in the dim flashing hallway. They sank into green flesh, injecting yellow fluid. Venom circulated through the Lizards body, killing his cells and stopping blood flow.
'I'm sorry. It has to be done.'
The Lizard was dead.
