Beta's cannot release pheromones. Well, the correct way to put it is that their pheromones have no odor. It can's be used to attract or repel. Which makes it harder to find a partner or keep one. As they cannot mark a mate. Beta's also can't retain the scent of an alpha or omega. This is because beta's pheromones neutralize other pheromones.
When Crow attempted to dis-spell the alpha pheromones on the roses Akiza left for Yusei he was met with a firm, "Stop that."
Yusei had not even looked away from the computer program.
"Seriously, with all the gifts that both of you have from the girls, people are starting to think alpha's live here."
At some point Akiza and Carly had began to gift things to the object of their affections. Leaving their pheromones on the gifts. This was a subtle way showing that they wanted to court them and, more importantly, ward off other suitors.
Seeing as the two had not rejected the alpha ladies numerous favors, the omega boys made in known that they were interested.
"You both should just enjoy the romance and bliss of being in love." Crow clasped his hands, humming away dreamily. "After all that happened there is no shame in pleasurable indulgence.
Yusei looked away from his computer screen. Seriously giving what Crow said some thought.
"Be serious. We have more important things to worry about. Women are just a distraction." Jack said taking a sip of his coffee.
"Crow rolled his eyes.
"Akiza has her studies. And I am to work alongside the city to prevent that terrible future. It just isn't the right time." Yusei said.
"Don't listen to Jack." Crow sent a glare towards the blond fiend.
Yusei walked up to the roses. He inhaled the scent of the flowers mixed in with Akiza's own smell.
"And what is your excuse. And no 'women are a distraction' is not an answer." Crow looked at Jack.
"Once I become number one…"
Crow could not hear the rest of Jack's sentence. All he wanted was for his friend's to enjoy what he could not.
"What about you?" Jack pulled Crow from his thoughts. "That Brave guy was trying to get awfully close to you."
"I'm a beta. I don't get that privilege."
"Don't say that." Yusei hated when Crow would imply, he was undeserving of a romantic relationship.
"Besides," Crow went on ignoring Yusei. "He seemed like another run-of-the-mill flirt. Told him I was a beta and it left him stuttering for words."
It was time for Crow to go to work. With his part of the WRGP prize money, he got a small warehouse to expand his delivery service.
Brave was diving along the rough roads of Neo Domino in search for a certain delivery place.
The local newspaper had a small section dedicated to Blackbird delivery. There was no picture in the blurb. But Brave knew of one person connected to black birds.
His theory was confirmed when he saw the all too familiar black and yellow dual runner. He parked his dual runner, Ljosalfr next to Blackbird.
At some point Crow heard the door open. "Blackbird delivery, how can I help- Brave?"
"Hiya." Brave smiled.
"You're still in Neo Domino." Crow asked walking from behind the counter.
"I'm surprised you are. No sponsors came to you." Brave questioned.
"I'm not in the business of talking to sponsors." Crow waved. "I want to take a break from dueling right now. Saving the world can take a toll on a person."
"How about we relax. You can pick the date and time." Brave took on his flirtatious tone.
"Nice try." Crow rolled his eyes. "Did you really track me down just to finish your flirting attempt?"
"Let's just say I really wanted to see you again." Brave said.
"Alphas are really possessive in the weirdest ways." Crow sighed, looking at the clock. It was close to lunch time. All of a sudden, he was willing to take Brave up on his offer. "I'm not gonna pass up a free meal."
"Hm!" Brave perked up.
"Let me close up for lunch and I'll take you to may favorite place." Crow grinned.
Raider's Nest was the place Crow frequented for lunch when he got the chance. It was a place well known for it's sandwiches. It was on the cheaper side of places to eat at too. The duo found a table to secure as Brave needed to read over the menu before they ordered.
"So what are your plans going forward? With dueling I mean." Crow asked.
"We are also taking a break from the dueling world. We settled on staying in Neo Domino because it is a good distance from a lot of major tournament spots. The city hosts it's own competitions too. So that helps." Brave explained.
"Maybe I can show you around sometime." The words were out of Crow's mouth before he realized his mistake.
"A date! Of course I accept." Brave mused, with a grin that would put the Cheshire cat to shame.
"No! Not like that!"
"Aww, you wound me so." Brave clutched his chest dramatically.
"It looks like you are ready to order." With a strained smile, Crow went up to the counter. He made their orders with no regard to what Brave wanted. "Hey, I need your wallet."
Brave scoffed as he paid for the meals. The food came just in time for Crow to get back to work. Before parting ways, Brave made sure to give Crow his number.
"I am a beta." Crow said.
"And?" Brave tilted his head. "I know we haven't spent much time together, but I want to change that."
"Brave!" Crow stepped back.
"Huh? Oh sorry… I tend to get excited easily…." Brave backed away from Crow. "I mean it Crow. I like you. I will show you that I can be an alpha you can depend on."
Before Crow could respond, Brave had already left the vicinity. His dual runner fading into the bustling traffic.
Crow looked at the scribbled number on the piece of paper and let go a heavy sigh.
"You are not the problem, I am…."
