"Surprise!" I grinned and gave her the flowers.

"Edward! You're here! What?" She said as she jumped into my arms.

It had been eight weeks since I had asked her out for dinner and three weeks since she moved for her MBA.

Everything was too good to be true.

She was all I wanted and I'd do anything for her.

And for some reason, she liked me back.

I couldn't believe I was actually in a serious relationship.

Everything was just... perfect.

"Why the hell is she sitting on your lap?" she asked me on the call one day.

Huh!

"Who the hell is sitting on my lap?" I asked.

"Leah Clearwater." She said, "I'm looking at the photos from Seth's party that James posted on his Instagram, and I see she's sitting on your lap. May I ask why?"

"Oh! I don't even recall talking to her. Maybe it was for the group photo. I honestly don't recall her being on my lap!" I said.

"Didn't you hook up with her once?" She asked.

"Can you please stop asking me that question?" I chuckled.

"No. I'm going to keep asking that question until I find one bitch you haven't fucked," she said.

"Shut up." I laughed, "I can't change my past! But I swear there is only one woman I want on my lap!" I winked.

"Hmm..." She smiled, "You're coming this weekend, right?"

"Yeah." I smiled, "I miss you."

"I miss you, too." she smiled and blew a kiss.

I went there during the weekend, and it was perfect, like every weekend we spent together!

"What are you doing?" I received a text from her on one of the Friday evenings following that.

"Working." I replied and focused back on my laptop.

"On Friday evening?"

"Yeah."

Then she facetimed me.

"Hey..." she said.

"Hey..." I said, while still typing with one hand.

"Busy?" she said.

"Yeah." I replied.

"How come you're busy while James and everyone else is out partying?" she said.

"I want to get a few things done tonight." I said.

"Alright... We will talk later then!" she said.

"Yeah, bye." I said as I disconnected the call and focused back on work.

Wait a second!

She didn't just video call me to confirm if I was actually working, right?

Naah! I was just overthinking!
