It was hot in the morning, with the sun burning the asphalt and the heat rising underneath, little by little everyone was sweating.
It's the day they scheduled to go to the beach.
The whole group of friends is dressed in short sleeved blouses/shirts, shorts and bags with their luggage.
They meet in the parking lot where Wolf's car was kept, early in the morning.
When they left, the morning traffic was still quite congested.
The streets were packed with cars, and the sidewalks crowded with animals.
When they stopped at a red light, Snake was a little discouraged; judging by the traffic, they probably wouldn't make it in two hours.
Realizing that, he turned the car radio on to some random music, hoping to distract from the silence.
When they got out of the traffic jam, as soon as they reached the highway, the traffic flow improved.
Gradually, they left the city of Zootopia and the surrounding areas became more rural.
The scenery, passing like lightning through the car windows, flew by several scenes until they reached the calm ocean with gentle waves.
The wolf drove for another thirty minutes as the sand stretched out under the cloudless sky.
He stopped the car in the parking lot a little way from the beach.
The scenery was beautiful.
The surface of the water stretched into a brilliant sky blue.
The forest of rocks in the ocean.
Palm trees growing along the white sand.
Boats were coming and going on the sparkling ocean waves.
The wind, soft and warm, brought the smell of brine from the bay.
And many tourists.
It is packed with groups of young people as well as parents and children.
There were so many people with vibrant discussions and laughter echoing in the area along with the loud sound of music playing in the background.
They unloaded their luggage and made their way to the area where there were large tents that served as changing rooms.
The air was stifling hot inside the changing room tent, they hurried to put on their bathing suits followed by sunscreen.
They found a free space within the clusters of colorful beach umbrellas and the occasional figure lying on a towel, so they stretched out the plastic sheets and left the luggage under the umbrellas.
Rhonda and Webs dove into the deep water.
Shark, Wolf and Piranha played with the beach ball they had brought.
Joy stretched out her body on the sheet under the small shaded area of the beach umbrella.
Despite the few clouds, the sun was burning fiercely.
Every time she took a step away from the umbrella, she felt like she was being shot by a death ray.
Snake for his part enjoyed the blazing sun, as if releasing all his pent-up energy, his eyes squinting beneath his sunglasses.
Admiring the view of the sea, even if it is just a harbor, it helps that the prices are so reasonable.
She could also spy many sunbathers, who were devouring their boyfriend with their eyes as he bounces in the water, splashing numerous areas of his fur glistening with a silver light, and his long hair dancing before a sudden breeze.
As he pondered the looks from the hopeful youngsters that made him uncomfortable.
He pointed his old camera at the surface of the water and his friends.
He cleared his mind of everything but the endless click of his shutter to capture as many memories of this day as possible.
Tossing hands, chasing each other, splashing, having fun like kids.
Entertaining themselves with idle conversation and sunbathing, alternating between lying face down and face up.
By the time the sun hung over their heads, stomachs growled, and they ate lunch at a burger joint right next to the beach.
They wandered slowly along the white sandy shore, watching carefully every step they took.
Every once in a while, they bent down and picked up the shells they had found.
At one point; a crustacean scolded them for waking him up.
The wolf and the snake apologized, and left with a few laughs.
Their amusement was cut short by the crying of a child.
- Sorry, I've got work to do, you can stay with mom. -
- But it's my birthday. -
Tears land right in the sand.
- Since it seems that for your father work is more important, let's celebrate the two of us. -
- What are you saying to the boy? -
- Or are you? -
-Of course not. -
The mother cat frowned, her perfect face and large eyes contorted into a brutal and domineering expression.
She reached out and grabbed her son's paw, and slid away pulling the boy who burst into tears again.
- What's with the attitude? Who do you think I'm working so hard for? -
The couple decided to leave, as that conversation was none of their business.
- That was horrible. -
Wolf's voice had a touch of bitterness in it.
- No doubt, what a nasty woman. -
The golden eyes turned to Snake after hearing him.
- Let's not be hard on her, her husband is an idiot. -
Snake's eyes narrowed as he looked at the wolf.
- What are you talking about? The idiot is the wife. -
The younger one stops in a jerk.
- Are you serious? She just abandoned her son on his birthday. -
With the way he's acting, it looked like he ate something bad.
- I recognize it's a screw up, but he's right, without his job they wouldn't have important things; like health insurance. -
He answers subjected to that scrutinizing look of the wolf.
- And what good father turns his son against his other father?
Personal problems should be talked about in private, not discussed in front of a child. -
- Okay, that was very bad, but I'd be mad as hell if they did that to my son. -
- The year has 365 days, you can celebrate it another day. -
- And why not the day he was born? After all, that's what this celebration is for. -
- That's up to each person's opinion;
Do you want to feel like a Princess one day a year? Or be a Queen for the rest of your life?
With a house, internet, hobbies, and maybe less debts because her father worked himself to death to save money for her studies. -
When Wolf let out a frustrated snort, she replied:
- That's not done anymore, to be always generating capital is not wasting time.
We should not put work over family, they are the ones who love us and will give everything to help us when things go wrong.
Something that work would never bother to care about. -
Snake snorted.
They went on like this until they gave up, and continued to enjoy the day on the beach.
It's suffocating not being able to communicate with other people.
It felt like talking to a wall.
Afterwards, they decided to board a boat that is used on 20-minute sightseeing tours to scenic spots along the coast.
With a heart full of anticipation, they waited in line for about fifty minutes, and their turn came.
They prepared to leave by putting on their life jackets, boarded the boat, and finally set off against the pleasant wind blowing across the sea.
The surface of the water glistens with the reflection of the sun's rays.
They took a tour of several locations that are frequently used for the area's tourism promotional posters, along with the guide's explanation.
The moment they disembarked from the boat and took off their life jackets, they went back to play the shallower part of the sea.
When they tired of playing in the water, they returned to the plastic sheet and stood looking out over the water with the fickle breeze bringing with it the scent of the sea.
The only sounds that reached their ears were the crashing of the waves.
Before their eyes, the seawall towering over everything, on the other side, several fishing boats were anchored in the harbor.
Gradually the shadows deepened.
When it was time to leave, they folded the plastic tarps, deflated the beach ball, put away their belongings and returned to the changing rooms where they cleaned their bodies and changed clothes.
The wind cooled to usher in the night, so they went to find a small local restaurant where they had dinner.
As they left the tent, the sky began to turn orange and the clouds red.
Taking their time to pack all their luggage in the car, they drove off.
Leaving the sea, on their way back home, the sun hid its face between the mountains.
On the way back, Wolf drove at a slower pace compared to the way up.
Listening to the distant snoring of his friends in the back.
Snake's eyelids began to grow heavy.
- You can go to sleep. -
Said the wolf rubbing his heavy eyelids and then let out a yawn, made even bigger by his attempts to stifle it.
- No, someone needs to keep an eye on you in case you fall asleep. -
Wolf just smiled.
They returned to the city of Zootopia more than an hour later.
