Chapter 3: Romantic Times
Flashback
Christmas, 2010
After they finished video chatting with the gang, they visited with his mother for about another hour before she left the apartment, then they took Hank out for their nightly walk around the block.
When they returned to the apartment, Sara had kissed Grissom's cheek and told him she'll be in the bedroom while he locked up, so after he nodded with a smile, she left the room while he tidied/locked up and made sure Hank had his food and water before heading to the bedroom himself, happy that the gender of their baby was finally revealed to everyone, and while he had hoped it was a girl, there was no lingering disappointment from him from when they first found out because the important thing was that they were having a baby, and the only thing he's hoping for now was that he will be happy and healthy.
Grissom had just walked in and shut the door when the bathroom door opened, and Sara's voice was heard. "There is one more present that you didn't get to open tonight, but I figured you wouldn't have wanted to open this in front of your mother."
Grissom turned around and it was like his body stopped working, because standing there was his wife with a nearly see through nighty, and the best part, in his opinion, was her five month stomach basically on full display, and while he's read/heard stories about some men shying away from their pregnant significant others, especially as they got bigger, Grissom actually found her just as beautiful, maybe even a little more, so for as long as she wanted him during her pregnancy, he was right there with her, anytime.
But because his body was going in complete shock and he hadn't moved closer to her or said anything for what felt like forever to Sara, she kind of felt a slight rejection, and that's was what she was afraid of since she's also heard/read stories about some couples would/could lose that intimacy towards one another, for multiple reasons, as her pregnancy progressed, so she cleared her throat and started to turn around. "It's ok, I'll go change into something less revealing."
Before she had taken a step towards the bathroom, Grissom, who could finally feel like moving and speaking, placed a hand on her shoulder and whispered. "I really hope you won't." When she turned around, she had tears in her eyes, and he frowned as he moved his hand up to cup her cheek to wipe them away as he continued in that soft tone. "I'm sorry, seeing you like that took me and my body a moment to make a move."
She replied softly. "So, you still find me attractive?"
He nodded his head with a smile, his eyes turning into passion as he looked his wife up and down before settling on her eyes again, this time Sara seeing how she still affects him. "Every day since I met you, and how you look right now, only makes me want you even more." He slid his hand under her shirt to place his hand on her stomach as he continued with passion. "My god Sara, I can't believe how lucky I am right now, to having you in my life and finally having a baby." He brings her in for a short kiss before moving his lips to her ear and whispered. "And as long as you want me, I'm not going anywhere."
Knowing what he meant by that statement, she cupped his cheek and pulled him back so she was looking into his eyes while she spoke. "Now I can't promise this every night as I get bigger. But tonight, I want/need my husband."
He nodded with a smile as he placed his hand on hers before taking it off his cheek and walking them towards the bed. "Then I say let's not waste this moment/night."
"You're right, Dr. Grissom, let's not."
May, 2011
William just hit the two-month-old mark, and while it was hard for them, they let Mrs. Grissom watch him for the night so they could get a little grown-up time without a baby interrupting them. Plus, Hank stayed with William, so their apartment was completely empty.
After they arrived home from visiting/dropping off William and Hank at his mother's, Grissom wanted to cook them a romantic dinner, then once it was made, they sat at the dining room table with two candles lit in the middle of it, and as romantic as it was supposed to be, they couldn't stop talking about William and every little thing he did that day that either one had missed.
A moment later she stopped talking and shook her head with a chuckle. "Can you remember a time when every moment didn't revolve around our son?"
He smiled as shook his head. "Barley." They both chuckled this time before he spoke again in a sincere tone. "But the thing is I wouldn't have it any other way."
She shook her head as she moved her hand to his. "I wouldn't either, after what felt so long it took to get here."
He nodded, then as he slipped his fingers through his, he spoke softly. "With that being said though, I don't want to lose us. I love our son more than anything in the world, more than I can actually put into words..."
She cuts him off with a nod and got up from her seat and moved towards him as he pushed his chair back so she could set in his lap so they were facing one another, then she cupped his cheek. "I feel the same way. He means everything to me, more than I thought I could love another human being, but I don't want to lose you, lose what we always had."
He placed his hand on top of hers and replied with a smile. "And as long as I am around, we won't. It's just one of these adjustment periods we heard about."
She nodded. "But we also heard how strong this could make our relationship in the end if we work at it."
"Very true, and I know we aren't afraid of hard work."
She shook her head with a smile, passion swirling in her eyes. "You got that right, Dr. Grissom, and I feel our relationship is only getting stronger as the years go by." She ran her thumb up and down his cheek. "I love you so much, Griss. I couldn't imagine going down this life's journey with anybody else, nor would I even want to try."
He moved his other hand to cup her cheek as he replied with love. "Me neither. I love you so much, Sara, and I know I've said this about a billion times by now but thank you for everything you done/given to me. I'm right where I always wanted to be, I was just too scared to go after it."
She moved her lips closer to his and whispered. "Well, you're not scared anymore, are you?"
They kiss slowly, and after pulling back an inch, he whispered in return. "No dear."
They kiss again, this one had a little more depth to it, but she pulled back before it could get anywhere else, and she whispered again. "Then what are you waiting for, go after it."
He brings her into another kiss, this one more passionate than the other two they just shared, but as much as that want/need/desire was to just take one another right then and there, they didn't want their first time in months to be a quickie at the dining room table, they wanted to take their time. Plus, they've always enjoyed the comfort of their bed more than anything, so they somehow found the will power to pull back and get up from the chair before they made their way to the bedroom, leaving the dishes for later.
Once they got to their room, in their bed and under the covers with nothing but the sheet covering them, there was a slight pause, and while looking up at her husband, she cupped his cheek and asked. "Everything ok?"
He nodded with a smile. "It's perfect, you're perfect." She smiled shyly as he finished while moving slightly closer to her. "You're still the most beautiful woman in the world to me."
She brings him down to her so they could start kissing again while moving their romantic night forward.
End of Flashback
Sometime later, while he was laying in her arms as they were catching their breaths, she ran a hand up and down his back as she whispered. "That was amazing, not that it's ever not been, but it's different when I'm pregnant."
He looked up at her a little concerned. "A good different, right?"
She smiled brightly as she cupped his cheek. "Oh yes, a very good different."
They kissed softly for a few minutes, then they moved positions so she was more in his arms now and he ran his hand up and down her back as it became a comfortable silence, just the two of them basking in the moment.
After a few moments of them not speaking, Sara spoke first. "So, I got a call from Nick before I was leaving the lab earlier this evening."
With his eyes closed as his hand continued to go up and down her back, he asked. "Yeah? What's up with him?"
"He said he finally feels settled enough for guests, so he's invited us down to his place for a few days around July 4th, if you're interested."
In a surprising career move to them, Nick accepted an offer to be the director at the San Deigo Crime lab, and he had told everybody that as much as he enjoyed his life in Vegas and would miss them all, he was ready for a new/different scenery.
So earlier this year, after being in Vegas for 18 years, Nick moved on to another city, ready to teach some 'new blood' all that he's learned from two of the best mentors, Grissom and Catherine, he could have asked for.
"I'm very interested. But can we make it work on your end? You just got promoted and I don't want your team to feel like you're not as committed."
She nodded before smirking. "I'll make it up to them." She then sighed. "But that just means I might have to work some later nights in a way to do that."
"And if that happens you got nothing to worry about at home, everything will be taken care of."
She moved so she was looking down at him and cupped his cheek. "Oh, I know that because I have the best husband/partner in the world." He smiled shyly as he shook his head, causing her to chuckle before she spoke again. "I'll just miss my guys."
"We'll miss you too, but it will be worth it in the end."
She nodded as she moved closer to his lips. "Yes, it will."
When their lips touched, Grissom didn't think it was going to lead anywhere, but she had moved her legs so it was hooked to his hips so she could pull him closer to her, so he pulled back slightly with a look that said 'again', she just nodded with a smile as she laid back on the mattress, taking him with her so he would end up on top.
They look at one another with smiles on their faces before he leans down and kisses her lips, then he trails them down to her three-month stomach, pauses for a moment before kissing it softly, whispering how much he loved him or her before moving back up her body, slipping his fingers through hers as they get started on another lovely moment/memory.
