The Legend of Zelda: Interloper of Time
-Chapter 36-
-Last Time-
"Ha! Eat that you walking piles of scrap metal!" Naruto shouted victoriously while he and Fi quickly smashed up the last few bots left on deck still.
"Do not relax yet Master Naruto," Fi said, floating over to the blonde's side as even more Sentorbs clambered out of the tunnels and onto the ship. "This fight isn't over."
"Sheesh, does Impa-sensei buy these in bulk or something?" He asked jokingly while twirling the Megaton hammer in his grasp. "Guess it's time for round two."
-And Now, Twenty Minutes Later-
*Crunch* "Ha… ha… was the last of those things? Please tell me… it was." An oil drenched Naruto pleaded tiredly after squashing a Sentorb with his hammer, adding its metal carcass to the massive heaps of them littered all over the ship.
"I hope so," Saria panted out, equally covered in oil with sweat dripping from her brow, leaning against the blonde for support as she struggled to keep the master sword held up. "I don't think I can keep going much longer."
"I am detecting no enemy signatures," Fi confirmed while carefully scanning their surroundings, the black liquid on her body rapidly evaporated away even as she flickered briefly due to low power. "However, there is a surge of magical energy within the ship itself that appears to be slowing us down. I estimate a ninety-eight point six six percent probability that we are about to reach our destination."
"About damn time," Navi grunted out sourly, her and Elia peeking out of Naruto's hair as both shook off the oil that had seeped through the blonde's hair onto them while the former gingerly stretched her slowly uncrumpling wings. "Remind me to thank Impa for warning us about the massive army of killer robots."
"Save the revenge plotting for later Navi, we still have a ghost to exorcise with a good old fashioned ass whooping," Naruto said calmly once he caught his breath, reaching up and gently rubbing the fairy's head to help calm her down. At the same time, the blonde braced himself as the ship came to a lurching halt right next to a darkened pier and the off ramp reappeared. "We can figure out how to slip laxatives into Impa-sensei's morning tea without her noticing afterwards."
"…I like the way you think Naruto." Navi said with a wicked grin, rubbing her hands together as she giggled mischievously.
"Oh great, you've corrupted another one." Saria said dully though the small grin on her lips belied her actual amusement.
"What can I say, the way of the prankster is infectious to all." The whiskered blonde said with a cheeky grin while he reached into his pouch and pulled out a clear jar filled with a softly glowing green liquid.
Popping out the cork, he took a small swig of the bottle's contents before passing it over the greenette, who in turn greedily chugged the rest. Barely even a second later, both teens visibly perked up as their exhaustion just faded away.
"Phew, that's much better," Saria said while rolling her shoulders and flexing a little bit to work out the kinks she'd gotten from the long fight. "Those stamina potions may be pricy, but they definitely get the job done."
"I still say that salesman ripped us off," Naruto said grumpily, briefly taking the master sword from the greenette to allow Fi to recharge herself in one hand while stuffing the now empty bottle back into his pouch with the other. "I mean seriously, two hundred rupees a bottle, how's that a fair deal?"
"Considering the incredibly difficult process, the variety of ingredients required, and the time needed to properly brew the potion properly, the transactional value was quite equal." Fi interjected calmly, making the blonde pout as they started to walk towards the ramp.
"Oh come on Fi-chan, you're supposed to be on my side."
"I'm sorry Master, I may be but the logic is not."
"I'm starting to regret teaching you how to back-sass."
"I told you that you would, but you didn't-oof." Saria started to say, but ended up cutting herself off when she accidentally bumped into the old ferryman, who seemed to have popped up out of nowhere.
Muttering a quick apology to the elderly man, the greenette continued along-
"…"
For all of ten steps before suddenly freezing in place, her head snapping back towards the ferryman with wide shocked eyes as he closed his mouth. "What did you-"
"Whoa, enough of that, let's go," Naruto cut Saria off mid-sentence, grabbing her arm and quickly dragging her the rest of the way onto the dock, then straight towards the dark connecting tunnel said dock was connected to. Once they were decent distance away though, the blonde immediately spun around and fixed the ex-kokiri with a serious look. "What were you thinking Saria? Impa-sensei specifically stated NOT to talk to that guy."
"But he-"
"But nothing Saria, if it was important enough that Impa herself actually warned us about it beforehand for once, then we should not disregard it," Navi chipped in as well while giving a similar stare. "Who knows what would've happened if Naruto hadn't acted as quickly as he did."
"I…" Saria tried to say something, only to immediately trail off a moment later and bow her head. "I'm sorry, with all the fighting it just slipped my mind for a moment."
Expecting further scolding, she was caught off guard when Naruto instead let her go with a shoulder pat and an understanding smile. "That's fair, it did get pretty crazy for a while, I'd have probably done the same."
"You make it sound like you haven't already." Elia quipped cheekily as she floated over onto her fellow greenette's noggin, earning a sour look from the whiskered blonde.
"I will lick you again."
"Do you even know how dirty that sounds out of context?" Navi asked while sliding down Naruto's scalp until she landed on his shoulder.
"Don't care."
As the trio began to playfully bicker back and forth, the group continued onwards down the darkened tunnel, none of them noticing the far-off look in Saria's eyes as she glanced back towards the way they came. 'Did they not hear what he said?'
'Hear what who said Mistress Saria?'Fi asked the former forest child mentally, making her flinch slightly in surprise.
'Gah, I forgot you can do this,' Saria thought, her gaze shifting over to the sword spirit floating next to her before shaking her head with a sigh. 'It's nothing Fi… I think I just got hit by some stupid mind trick for a moment. The Goddesses know there are too many in this accursed place.'
'Indeed, I will try to keep a closer eye out for any further disturbances.'
'Thanks Fi.'
"Holy kuso!" Saria was snapped from her thoughts upon hearing Naruto yell in shock, before her eyes practically fell out of her skull when she saw why he shouted.
"That is one big door." She couldn't help but mutter in awe as her head slowly tilted upwards in an almost vain effort to see the top of the absolutely colossal metal door now barring their path. It was at least forty feet tall and made of a solid pitch-black steel that seemed to suck in all light, with the only mark on it being the symbol for the Sheikah clan engraved in the dead center.
"How the hell are we supposed to open that?" Navi asked incredulously, looking around the tunnel for a crank or lever or even just another tunnel to travel down, only to be greeted with nothing but barren stone.
Pulling out the Lens of Truth, Naruto peered around as well through the enchanted magnifying glass. "I can't find any illusions but that thing has a huge amount of magic flowing through it."
"Confirmed, multiple spells have been placed upon this barrier, I will attempt to analyze," Fi stated robotically as she floated up to the door and placed her cloak-hand up to its surface, an aurora of colors forming around spot she made contact. "Hmmm, damage prevention, negation, and repair enchantment, breach alert charm, gravity alteration spell, air seal charm…"
"I've said it before, I'll say it again, the Sheikah really need to learn the term 'over-kill'." Navi stated dully, with Naruto, Elia, and Saria nodding in agreement as Fi kept listing off one spell after another.
"…anti-conduction charm, weight increasement spell, auto-polishing spe-ah, Master, Mistress, I have identified a vocal command charm," Fi stated suddenly as the glow settled on a soft green. "This door requires a password in order to open it."
"Oh you have got to be kidding me," Naruto groaned out as he slumped over. "That means we either have to scour this place for some obscure hint or clue on what the password is-"
"Or head all the way back to the beginning and ask Impa for it, which she might not even give," Navi finished for the blonde as she faceplanted on his shoulder with a groan of her own. "It's official, I hate this place, I hate every damn inch of it."
"On that we couldn't agree more." Saria muttered while rubbing the side of her head, a vein starting to visibly bulge on her forehead as she spoke.
"Do not despair just yet," Fi said calmly as the glow around her 'hand' once again changed, this time to a royal purple. "I calculate an eighty-seven point five percent chance that I can deduce the required code that is needed to proceed by directly examining the spell itself."
"…But?" Naruto and Saria asked after a pause, expectant looks on their faces.
"There is also a thirty point three nine percent chance that doing so could either damage the spell's functionality making the door inoperable, or set off any anti-tampering charms the Sheikah may have implemented also rendering the it inoperable."
"So it'll either work, not work, or make things even worse," Navi grumbled as she pushed herself into a sitting position and rested her cheek onto her fist. "Yep, that sounds about right."
"How long would that take you Fi?" Saria asked, getting the sword spirit to pause briefly before answering.
"Approximately five minutes."
"Then might as well go for it, the risk is pretty low and I really do not want to spend anymore time in here than I have too." The greenette stated with a slight frown while Naruto nodded in agreement.
"Couldn't have said it any better myself." Elia added as she snuggled further into Saria's hair.
"Understood." Was all Fi said in response before returning her attention back to the door.
Soon, the flow of magic began to change color once more, only this time alternating from purple to light blue and back again before slowly bleeding into an everchanging mixture of both. As this went on silence filled the tunnel, none of the group wanting to speak and possibly mess up Fi's concentration.
Thankfully, they weren't left waiting long as after barely even two minutes, the glow faded from view and the blue girl floated backwards a few feet.
…
…
"…Ramen Rules."
*Click* *Rumble*
With a soft clicking sound followed by the deep groaning of metal grinding on metal, the door rose into the ceiling and out of view, thus leaving the pathway unblocked. Despite this though, the whole groups attention was focused solely on Fi, with Naruto wearing a wide goofy grin of victory while Saria, Elia, and Navi each a donned complete deadpan expression.
"Seriously? I mean seriously?" Navi finally asked, a mixture of exasperation and disbelief in her voice. "That was the password? Of all the things it could have been, THAT was the freaking honest to the goddesses password?"
"That would be correct." Fi said with a small nod, making the injured fairy palm her face before looking up at the blonde she was riding with a dull look.
"This is your fault somehow, I just know it."
Still grinning widely, Naruto shrugged nonchalantly at Navi's accusation. "What can I say, I always told you ramen was the best and it seems like somebody finally agrees with me."
-Realm of the Goddesses-
"You said it Naru-chan! Ramen for life!" Kushina cheered while her husband and the three goddesses all sighed in exasperation as they stared into the viewing pool.
However, unlike before, each of them had a handful of playing cards and piles of random stuff while sitting around a round table with a large hole in the middle over the mystical waters, allowing them to play their game while still watching the events that were passing.
And judging from the wide grin on the redheaded Uzumaki's lips, the giant pile of winnings by her side of the table, and the frustrated looks she was getting from the three deities, Kushina was winning quite handily.
"I can't believe you bid the temple password master control." Farore muttered as her glare drifted over to Din who huffed indignantly in response.
"Says the one who just lost two divine interventions and a fertility blessing."
"Hehehehe, I'm gonna have so many grandbabies." Kushina giggled excitedly as the two goddesses squabbled while hugging a softly glowing green sphere of magic to her chest.
-Shadow Temple-
Naruto blinked as a weird shiver suddenly ran down his spine. 'Why am I suddenly feeling both extremely happy yet terrified?'
Shrugging off the odd feeling, the blonde focused his attention back to the matter on hand as he and Saria cautiously stepped through the now unblocked path and into a moderately sized chamber. It was perfectly a circular dome shape, with the walls covered in hundreds upon hundred of carvings depicting terrible massacres, horrific beasts, and many different tales of death and destruction.
The only lighting for the room came from four large braziers set equal distances across the room filled with etheric purple flames that flickered and swayed in an almost hypnotic manner that seemed to both dispel and attract the darkness.
"'Here lies the darkest and bloodiest pieces of history from the great land of Hyrule's past,'" Navi read aloud as Naruto walked past a particularly bolded section of runes, a tiny amount of awe in her voice as she read. "This has to be the Archive of Shadows, where every terrible catastrophe to ever happen on Hyrulian soil is recorded so that it may never be truly forgotten."
"Well that's delightful and all, but we didn't come here for a history lesson," Naruto said blandly as he kept walking, pulling out the Lens of Truth to scan over the room for any possible illusions, traps, or hidden exits, only to be met with absolutely nothing. "I've got nothing, how about you guys?"
"Nothing here either." Saria called back as she walked along the other side of the room before stopping in front of a smaller engraving, her eyes starting to water as she ran her hand over the cold stone.
'Navi wasn't kidding,' Elia thought with a sad sigh, floating out from the ex-kokiri's hair and taking up perch on the larger greenette's shoulder instead as she patted her cheek comfortingly. 'They have everything recorded here.'
The depiction was that of the former Great Deku Tree, showing how the once mighty oak was murdered by Ganondorf via his deadly accursed minion Queen Gohma.
Staring at the image for almost a whole minute, a single tear slowly made its way down Saria's cheek until she finally wiped it away and continued on.
"I detect lingering amounts of dark energy that indicate the entity known as Bongo-Bongo has likely spent a large amount of time here, however based on the level of dissipation he has been gone for at least a four hours," Fi said as she floated around the room, stopping to stare at each different section of the archive to take in the many carvings. "There is a high chance the malevolent spirit has fled the area upon learning of our approach."
"Goddesses dammit, that means he could have already fled the temple by now, fantassss…" Navi started to swear and grumble angrily, only to suddenly trail off and start looking around the room in confusion. "Does anybody else hear that?"
"Hear what?" Naruto asked, instantly on alert as he, Saria, and Fi got back to back. "Navi, what do you hear?"
"It's… I don't know, some kind of thumping, but less solid sounding." The blue fairy said unsurely, struggling to find the right words.
*Dum… dum… thud-um-dum… dum… dum thud-um-dum dum dum*
"Okay, I hear it too," Saria muttered as a thumping gradually grew louder and faster. "Whatever's causing must be getting closer."
"Negative Mistress Saria, according to my senses whatever is making this noise has not moved but has simply increased auditory output," Fi corrected automatically. "Trying to deduce point of origin now."
*Thud-um-dum dum dum thud-um-dum dum dum*
"Hang on, I know what that is," Naruto muttered as his eyes lit up in recognition. "Somebody's playing the drum-"
*THUD-UM-DUM* *Crackle* Suddenly the sound spiked in volume, causing the whole room to shake from the noise before large cracks rapidly spread across the floor beneath the group.
"Origin point located."
""Oh son of a BIIIIITCH!"" Naruto and Saria screamed out in sync as the ground gave out, sending them all plummeting into the dark abyss that had been hidden beneath.
Acting fast both teens tried to reach for the walls of the unexpected pitfall to stop themselves, only for said walls to abruptly cut away to ceiling as they fell into a humongous cavern. Fi tried to help by grabbing the falling pair with her cloak arms but was simply dragged down with them.
"Brace for impact!" Navi yelled in terror as she eyed the rapidly approaching ground while desperately clung to Naruto's shoulder, before yelping when the blonde cupped her into one hand, pulled Saria up to chest with the other, and flipped himself back first to the ground.
'Oh this is gonna hurt!' He thought with his eyes squinted shut as he channeled chakra to his back to hopefully absorb some of the impact.
*Boing*
"Heh?" Naruto muttered in confusion, his eyes snapping back open as he felt himself bounce off the 'ground' rather than getting splattered against it. Reflexively letting Saria go as he fell back down, the blonde could only stare in confusion as the hard looking surface easily bent under his weight before flinging him back up a few feet like a trampoline.
"What the hell?" Saria muttered as she bounced a few times until regaining her wits enough to flip onto her feet mid-boing, though she was literally unable to stop herself from lightly bouncing in place. Her confusion and tenseness only grew as she saw the oddly springy ground marked with the symbol for the triforce and stretched out into a sixty foot wide circle which was surrounded by a toxic looking glowing green sludge that bubbled and smoked ominously. "The hell is this?"
"It looks like a giant drum," Navi said as Naruto regained his own footing and carefully set her back atop his head. "Guess you were right Naruto."
Frowning slightly as he took in the area as well, Naruto did his best to get in a ready position on the bouncy ground and tightened his grip on the megaton hammer. "It seems so, but that begs the question, if this is the drum-"
"Where is the one who was playing it?" FI finished for the blonde as she floated beside the teens, her gaze slowly drifted across the room before suddenly jerking towards the far side of the massive musical instrument. "Attack incoming!"
Acting on pure reflex, Saria and Naruto sprung in opposite directions the instant they heard the sword spirit's shout.
*DUM*
"Whoa!" Naruto shouted in surprise as something invisible struck the ground where they'd just been standing hard, causing a reverbing beat to shake the entire chamber whilst both teens were sent bouncing across the drum.
As the greenette and bluenette scrambled out of the way of another strike, the whiskered blonde used the drum's bouncing to launch himself up to the top of the cavern, sticking himself in place with chakra before pulling out the magic magnifying glass. Holding it up to his eye as he quickly looked around the room, he almost immediately recoiled upon looking at the same corner Fi had been. "Holy damn, you are one ugly bastard Bongo."
Bongo-Bongo was best described as an massive upside-down rotting human torso with a chitinous armored spine, arms that ended in severed bloody stumps while the hands floated freely, and a bulbous red eyeball thing instead of a head surrounded by flaps of flesh in the perverted design of a flower.
"Ugh, I think I'm gonna be sick," Navi muttered, her face literally turning a bit green as she peered through the glass as well, before gulping nervously when the monster's gaze snapped towards them with what sounded like an angry snarl and its hand curled into a fist. "I think it heard us."
"Hold on tight." Was all Naruto said in response, prompting the small fairy to cling tightly to his hair as he let himself fall from the ceiling just in time to avoid the flying punch. Landing back on the giant drum, the blonde used the rebound to fling himself forward at high speed, heading straight for Saria, Elia, and Fi.
The reason for this was revealed a split second later as with a one-handed swing of his now icy hammer, Naruto smashed it into the second hand mid-flight, instantly freezing it solid and sending it crashing into the wall.
Skipping to a halt right in front of the girls, the blonde wasted no time passing off the Lens of Truth to Saria after quickly noting the locations of Bongo-Bongo's still mobile hand and body. "Okay, we got one ugly invisible monster with giant floating hands. Any ideas?"
"Well first off make it not invisible," Saria said blandly with her face scrunching up in disgust upon getting a good look at Bongo-Bongo, who was thankfully focused more on breaking its hand out of its icy prison at the moment. "As much as I'd rather not see… that ever again, we can't just let him keep such a blatant advantage."
"I do believe I have a solution for that issue Mistress Saria," Fi stated as she floated beside the greenette, her gaze not once wavering from the enemy as she spoke. "However, it will take some time to implement and I require that you give the master sword to Master Naruto for it to work."
"Here you go then," The greenette said, not bothering to ask further as she tossed the holy blade over to the whiskered blonde before pulling out her bow while Elia held the Lens of Truth over her eye. "Now hurry up and get whatever you're gonna do ready, I'll keep handsy over here busy."
"Speaking of which, dodge!" Navi yelled, prompting both teens to roll out of the way while Fi dispersed as Bongo-Bongo's still frozen hand smashed into the springy yet surprisingly durable ground where they'd been standing, sending everything bouncing again while simultaneously shattering the ice on the floating appendage.
However, its freedom was short-lived as not even a moment later a softly glowing arrow jammed itself into the seemingly empty space, instantly refreezing the hand as it was rising back into the air. And judging from the angry snarling growl that followed right after, old drummer ghost dude was not happy about that what-so-ever.
"Alright Fi, so what's the plan?" Naruto asked as he skipped to the side of the large drum, watching carefully as Saria continued to badger Bongo-Bongo by freezing his hands and taking shots at his actual body, though the latter simply bounced off while leaving only a light coating of frost.
'I'm going to attempt to neutralize our opponent's ability to remain concealed by using a concentrated burst of pure light magic that in theory should negate the dark magic its using,' Fi stated within the blonde's mind as a familiar golden glow began to seep from the boy's arm into the master sword, forming around the blade like a sheath. 'It should only take me thirty-nine more seconds to get the needed energy for the attempt, however I recommend getting within closer proximity of Bongo-Bongo for maximum effectiveness.'
"Got it, just tell me when you're ready," Naruto said as he got in a ready position, or as best he could with the bouncy ground, the master sword held slightly behind him in his dominant hand while he struggled briefly to heft up the megaton hammer with the other, which glowed orange as he charged it up with chakra. "You better hold on tight Navi, this is probably gonna be a rough one."
"Way ahead of you." Said fairy muttered as she burrowed into his hair until only her eyes could be seen peeking out.
'Charging is complete Master Naruto.' Fi stated right as the tip of the master sword was enveloped in golden light.
Naruto just grinned as he twirled the weapon once in his hand before whistling loudly, getting Saria to snap her gaze towards him. "Set me a stage!"
Nodding shortly in understanding, Saria pulled out four arrows and after a quick hop to the side to avoid a hand trying to crush her fired all of them at once towards the far side of the room. Whilst two of them bounced off their invisible foe though, leaving a light frost coating on its hidden form in the process, the other two went right past and struck the wall on either side.
However, this was quickly proven intentional as huge columns of ice sprang up from where the projectiles struck, effectively boxing Bongo-Bongo in. Which was just what our whisker-faced hero was hoping for as he sprung into action and jumped straight for the pinned monster.
Growling in alarm, the undead phantom tried to smack Naruto away before he got close, but the blonde was easily able to swat down the incoming hands with his hammer thanks to the ice still clinging to them. The recoil of said hammer did send him a bit off course naturally, but he was able to easily recover by snagging and then rebounding off one of the ice columns.
"C'mon Bongo, time to face the music!" He yelled with a grin while slashing out blindly with the master sword once he was pretty sure he was close enough to hit something.
*Clu-thunch*
"RAAAAAHH!"
And hit something he did as the blade stuck into something with a solid thump of metal striking and sinking into something solid followed by a loud howling growl.
'Releasing burst now, I recommend closing your eyes immediately.'
"Wha-Gah! My eyes!" Naruto didn't even have time to start his question before he was blinded by a sudden flare of pure white light, searing into his pupils until he reflexively squeezed his eyes shut and covered his face with an arm.
"GRAAAHGAHAAAAHG!?" He wasn't the only one affected either apparently as Bongo-Bongo bellowed out in agony and rage while thrashing around wildly, with the master sword being the only thing keeping the blonde from getting flung off…
*Shlunk*
"Waa-" *Crack* *Thoing, thoing* "…ow."
…At least until it slid free of the monster's flesh, thus allowing the blonde to be sent back first into one of the pillars of ice, breaking through the frozen water like glass before plummeting back onto the drum with a groan, the master sword clattering onto the ground a few feet beside him.
"Naruto! Navi! Are you guys alright?!" Saria shouted, rushing over to her downed companion's side and checking him over worriedly.
"Ugh, that thing is surprising solid for a ghost," The whisked blonde grumbled as he slowly raised his head, revealing a dribble of blood running over the side of his face. Meanwhile, Navi simply shoved her arm out to give a very shaky thumbs-up before quickly retracting the limb into her protective bundling of hair. "How's Fi-chan?"
"I believe the appropriate phrase right now would be, let's never due that again," Fi said as she reformed above the master sword. To the groups surprise, the sword spirit's normally immaculate appearance was actually ruffled up a bit, with her hair slightly tussled while her outfit was crinkled and even a bit torn in places. "That was a rather unpleasant experience."
"Well, at least it worked," Saria said with her gaze flickering over to the far corner of the room as she pulled Naruto back to his feet, watching a now fully visible Bongo-Bongo gradually coming to its senses, 'blinking' rapidly as a gash on its spine was rapidly healing away. "Now come on, let's finish this."
"Good idea," The whiskered blonde said, cracking his neck loudly as he regained his bearings before quickly retrieving his weapons. "He's healing just like those Dead Hands could, so I bet we have to aim for that creepy eye of his."
"I agree, it appears to be the only vulnerable part of this creature." Fi added as she floated up next to the blonde.
"I figured that too, but I can't get a clear shot on it." Saria said with a frown while notching an arrow.
"Then just focus on keeping those annoying hands off us." Naruto stated before charging straight toward the massive monster, with Fi following after a split second later.
"RAAAAH!" Growling loudly in rage once it recovered from the unexpected flash and saw the ones who blinded it in the first place, Bongo-Bongo's hands curled into fists and shot straight at the charging pair.
However, much to its anger, not only was Naruto and Fi able to easily dodge out of the way of the flying fists, but the former used the sudden impact on the drum to fling himself high into the air whilst Saria froze both hands in place… again.
"GRAAAHAAA!"
"Shut the hell up already!" Naruto yelled, getting the phantom to snap its attention back towards the whiskered blonde right as he landed on the thing's 'head'. Clinging to its back with chakra, he immediately tried to stab Bongo-Bongo's eye, only for the master sword to bounce off the flaps of flesh that suddenly closed around it. "Oh you cheeky little-Open up ya bastard!"
Obviously not listening to his orders, the shadow monster instead started thrashing around once more to try and throw its unwanted passenger off. Unfortunately for it though, Naruto just stabbed the master sword into its neck again for added grip before smashing away at its covered eye with the megaton hammer.
At the same time, Fi graceful danced around Bongo-Bongo's flailing form while unleashing flurries of powerful kicks onto the beast's joint and tender spots while Saria kept firing arrow after arrow at its hands, encasing them in more and more ice until they looked like small glaciers.
"Open! Up! Already! You! Stupid! Wannabe! Ghost!" Each shout was punctuated by another swing of the hammer, knocking the phantom's 'head' back and forth while it howled in both anger and pain yet its eye stayed firmly shut.
After about a full minute of this though, Bongo-Bongo's eye started to reopen against its will as the flaps of flesh covering it went limp from the constant abuse.
"RAAAAAAAAAAAH!" Realizing its only defense left was failing, and failing fast, the monster howled once again, only this time in a noticeably more panicked tone. It needed to get away, it needed to escape, it needed-
*Squelch*
-To remember that one of its opponents had been waiting for that exact moment to strike.
Bongo-Bongo went completely motionless as an arrow pierced right through the middle of its eye, sinking all the way to the fletching as frost started to spread out from the impact sight over the crimson orb. Not even a second later and said arrow was split right down the middle as Naruto speared the master sword up to the hilt.
"Guess this means no encore for you!" The whiskered blonde yelled with a victorious grin, twisting the weapon in the wound before ripping it back out and hopping back onto the drum just before Bongo-Bongo limply fell out of the air like a puppet that's had its strings cut.
Most of the monster fell into the mysterious green ooze, which was quickly revealed to be acid of some kind as it melted everything it touched into nothing almost instantly. The only part that avoided this fate was the 'head' of Bongo-Bongo, which landed on the edge of the drum, bouncing a few times on the springy instrument.
Its ruined eye stared onwards blankly, its once bright red glow fading away to pitch blackness as it finally went still before rapidly rotting away into nothingness along with its trapped hands.
"And this time, stay dead." Saria stated just before purple light enveloped everyone's vision.
-Chamber of Sages-
"Okay seriously, is the light show really necessary each time-Ttebayo?" Naruto asked irritably as he and Saria blinked the spots out of their vision. "I'd like not being blinded thank you very much."
"Many say that, but most still blind themselves to the world around them." A familiar female voice said before Impa slowly rose out of the purple symbol on the ground, her ever iconic stoic appearance on her face as she crossed her arms.
Staring at the silver-haired woman for a moment, Naruto held his hand out towards Saria who promptly dropped a yellow rupee into his grasp with a slightly sour look. "So called it."
"Don't rub it in."
-End Chapter-
