Hey guys! This story is going to be more focused on the Gamma Team since I've been getting more Gamma reviews. But this one is going to be long.

Zack POV

I woke up to my computer pinging me. I checked the time, 4 am. This was unusual to say the least because,

1. Who emails between 3 am and 6 am?

2. My business hours are 6 am - 6 pm, so unless this is personal, which it couldn't be. No one is supposed to message me.

3. If it's someone leaving a review, then it wouldn't be sent to my email.

It was for those three I reasons decided it was something important and logged onto my computer. I went and opened my email, the sender was anonymous.

You're the owner of Sliggoo Coffee, the most popular coffee shop in Voyana City right? I need a favor, by doing this you'll be helping everyone.

I read the email and decided that it would be smart to confirm what I was supposed to do before accepting.

What do you want me to do?

The reply came almost immediately, either it was copy-pasted, or it was automated. I figured it was the first one.

As you know, the mayor's term is ending and unlike most mayors, this one actually had some pretty honest beliefs. Me and a bunch of guys are working to try and get him re-elected. We have a website and have been passing flyers. However, we were thinking that if we could host a re-election party at a popular place, it would get people to vote for him. Don't worry, we'll pay for any supplies you may need.

I thought about it, the intentions seemed good, but who messages at 4 am? But what was the worst that could happen? If they tried to rob me, I'd send Goodra to wipe them out. And if they're paying for it, I could make good money off of party discounts.

What would happen if I declined your offer?

We would simply find a different place.

I accept, when will the party be?

Next week, we'll send flyers to you to giveaway about the re-election party. We'll pass them around on the streets and announce it on our website. At the party, I'll be wearing jeans and a plain orange sweater, can't miss me. The name's Lucas Cleaveland, great doing business with you.

I closed his computer and smiled. This is going to be a busy week, but it's going to pay off, handsomely. There was about an hour and forty minutes before I had to open up, so I might as well find something else to do.

A week later

It was here, the day of the re-election party. When I got to the door, there was a group of people holding signs about re-electing the mayor. They cheered me on as I came and opened the door. Oddly enough, the door was bent in one place. But I didn't have time to investigate as more people were coming. I knew that today was going to be a busy day.

An hour later

I was seriously overwhelmed, this is the most people I have ever had. My place isn't that small, it has counter tables with a bunch of bright red stools, the same color as my eyes, which is the way I like them. There were coffee tables and chairs spread across the room, all made of birch wood. I could sit about sixty-five people; usually half of them are filled at a time on a typical day. But it was filled with people today, all places were filled. I had to get tables from the back and set them inside and outside to have enough room.

"Looks like you're having a bit of trouble there." came a voice. The voice belonged to a man with sand colored hair and dark brown eyes. He wore jeans and a plain orange sweater.

"A bit? I'm having a lot of trouble here!"

"I can help take orders."

"Thanks."

As I continued to serve everyone, the doors opened. And from those open doors, came the mayor, flanked by four bodyguards. The man strode right up to me.

"Ah you must be Zack Schrank, thank you for hosting this re-election party."

"It was planned by me and a small organization. It's simply a thank you for being such a great mayor. Would you like something?"

"Eh, I'll take the Alolan coffee plain."

I went to the back and started to make the coffee. I went to the Alolan coffee machine and threw out the used coffee beans. Then when I went to get new beans, I found that it was completely empty. Which was odd since I stacked up on coffee for today, oh well there's more in the back.

When I came back, I had to grind up the beans. After that, I started to pour them into the machine, and saw that there was some liquid in the coffee grind area. Again this was odd, but coffee has water in it anyways so it's fine. After a few moments, the coffee was done.

"Here you go, sorry it took so long, I had to get more beans from the back."

"Don't sweat it, I can't believe you run this entire place by yourself."

"It's my only source of income. I used to be a secretary but found I was pretty good at making coffee. So I made some investments and opened Sliggoo coffee."

"Well, thank you for the coffee, and the re-election party." he put down some cash for the coffee. I looked at it and saw it was way extra. "Um sir, I have a 50% discount today, and even without it, this is too much."

The mayor laughed. "Keep everything, consider it my thank you for the re-election party." he took a sip of coffee. "Wow, this is probably the best cup of coffee I had."

"Well, the beans I use are imported from a nearby farm."

He took another sip. "Well, I taste something extra."

"Extra?" Then my mind flashed to the dented door, and the liquid I say. It was the marks of a crowbar, and the liquid wasn't water.

"M-Mr. Mayor! Don't-"

The mayor froze, and then dropped down to the floor, dead.

One month later

No one's POV

"And that's why I'm here, because someone set me up to poison the mayor. My guess as to why they wanted to kill him was because of his actual good beliefs that some deemed as radical." finished Zack.

"Ouch, getting framed for something is rough. I got arrested while on a Gamma Team mission, they barely had any proof against me. But they believed me to be a Gamma Team member and gave me two years."

"Never imagined I was going to jail. You know what happened next? They sent my Pokémon to Pokécare, and shut down my store. Even after my seven year sentence is up, what will be left of me?"

The Gamma Team agent slammed his fist on the wall separating him and Zack. "Then you keep fighting! The first time I ever went to jail wasn't even my fault, and then I lost everything! But I didn't give up, I continued going, I joined the Gamma Team. After I went to jail again here, I snuck messages to my friends and planned a jailbreak. If life throws you down, you pick yourself! Even if it seems like you can't. And yes, I know I may be working for the Gamma Team, but I can still give uplifting speeches!"

Zack stayed silent pondering his options, maybe the Gamma agent was right. He could still pick up his life, even if he had to live a new life.

"Listen kid, if you feel that you can't go back to a new life, why don't you start a new one? My buddies come and break us out, we get back our Pokémon. Then you join the Gamma Team. I promise you, joining the Gamma Team will not be a mistake, we're practically family!"

"You're right, if life throws me down, I will pick myself up. I'll happily join the Gamma Team. But I won't join as myself, I'll join as, Lord Kazuma!"

The man chuckled. "If only we had an electric Pokémon for lightning effects, but don't worry Kazuma, your real name's safe with me. I'm Jacob Tarot by the way."

"It's great doing business with you."

Two days later

An explosion sounded down the hallway, an alarm blared as an automated voice declared a prison attack. All the guards at the prison cells released their Pokémon, most of them were Arcanines, but there were a few other Pokémon like Smeargle and Manectric.

Down the hall, there was shouting and Pokémon noises, the sound of lightning and a bright flash came and everything grew silent. But it didn't stay silent for long as the sound of a bowling ball inside of a bowling alley filled the room. The sound grew louder as all the officers and their Pokémon became tense.

"There! Arcanine, Flare Blitz!"

The Arcanine charged forward in a ball of fire, only to be stopped as something large and rocky slammed into it.

"Obsidiode, Earthquake!"

The Pokémon leaped into the air, revealing itself to be an Alolan Golem, it slammed its fists into the ground and created a shock that split the floor beneath them.

A Skarmory flew down on Obsidiode, it was one of the few Pokémon who were not defeated by the Earthquake.

"Steel Wing!"

The bird's metal wings glowed white as it bashed into Obsidiode. The Golem shook off the attack easily.

"Use Wild Charge!"

Obsidiode surrounded himself with electricity and smashed into the Skarmory, the bird surviving the attack. An Arcanine came up and surrounded itself with fire as it proceeded to use Flare Blitz.

"Liquidation!"

The Golem froze for a moment, and then glowed blue as it charged forward. It slammed into the Arcanine and defeated it.

"Liquidation? Golem can't learn that," said Kazuma, clearly bewildered.

"Ah but Obsidiode can. The Gamma Team has figured out a way to give Pokémon moves they could usually never learn. But it comes at a cost." Jacob explained.

"What is the cost?"

"It can alter how Pokémon, physically and mentally. Obsidiode is very fast and strong. But he is always into battles, and can be very destructive. He sometimes turns on his trainer or explodes in a burst of electricity."

As if to prove his point. Obsidiode started shaking, it glowed yellow. His trainer yelled something about cover as he threw a pokeball. Then, in a flash of lightning, Obsidiode exploded. When everything cleared, all Pokémon and trainers were unconscious. Obsidiode was intact but fainted, while his trainer crouched behind an Audino that was using Protect. The trainer stood up, he had short black hair that was a shade of gray due to all the dust. He wore a black and gray wingsuit with a G on it.

Jacob stepped out from behind the broken bars. He had silver hair that fell to his black eyes. He wore the same gray prisoner suit as Kazuma.

"Henry! You received my messages, didja bring the goods?"

Henry smiled as he tossed his friend a styled wingsuit. It was gray and black and had a silver G on it.

"All right! My Gamma Team wingsuit! Did you get one for the new recruit?"

Henry turned to Kazuma and tossed him a similar suit.

"You must be "Lord" Kazuma. As a pending recruit, you can't wear any special costumes. But I got you a black bandana, it doesn't match your hair though. Woulda been nice if it did."

"It's perfectly fine, how are we going to get out?"

"Easy, you wear that wingsuit, and we'll glide out of here like an Emolga. Find someplace to get changed."

Kazuma went behind a pile of rubble and started changing. He disdainfully threw his prison clothes out of the hole in the wall. He wished for his old Noivernman T-shirt with the amazing saying, "Always be yourself, unless your Noivernman, always be Noivernman." He put on some white gloves and emerged from behind the rubble. Jacob stepped out from the damaged prison cell.

Henry nodded his head. "Let's move before more cops show up." with that, he turned and jumped out of the hole.

After Jacob did the same, Kazuma came to a horrible realization. He didn't know how to skydive. He watched the other two men flying, their arms spread wide as the air did the rest. Kazuma then heard cops down the steps. He took a deep breath and leaped.

Kazuma's POV

I was falling, the wind rushed into my face as I rapidly descended the prison tower. I hadn't even known it was a tower at all, I'd been blindfolded.

I quickly recalled the Gliscor I saw a long time ago. It had skin between its arms like me. I spread my arms and legs wide, letting the air catch me and send me along. I heard the shouting of police behind me, I was free.

I eventually touched down on soft grass and stumbled down onto my face. Henry and Jacob helped me to my feet as I took in my surroundings.

I appeared to be in a grassy field with a few trees here and there, it was about 1 am. There was a small jeep with camo paint, it had grass covering its body. From a distance, I would've missed it.

"That's the getaway vehicle. I know, it's not fancy, but I prefer function over style. This jeep is great for off-roading, and could beat those fancy police cars on a grassy field like this one," explained Henry.

"And we'll have to be escaping the police if we remain here, let's move!" I said running towards the jeep. I opened the back door and slid in, soon followed by Henry and Jacob. Henry started the vehicle and slammed on the gas like a maniac.

"Jacob, could you handle the GPS."

I leaned forward and gave Henry a death look.

"What kind of escapist are you? Why do we need a GPS?"

"We're first going to the nearest Pokécare center, then we're going back to base."

That made sense, I looked back outside the window and saw faint flashes of blue and red.

"They're after us!"

"I said this was off-roading, we'll outrun them."

I suppose Henry was right, the lights soon faded away like a distant memory. Jacob got the GPS going and our trip was going to take an hour.

"So what will happen when we get back to base?"

"Well, we'll run it by the leader to hire you, then you can get your first mission. And then, you'll be living a new life with new people and Pokémon. Who knows, if they like you enough, they might take you to the mission branch." explained Jacob.

"Mission branch?"

"It's a new branch of the Gamma Team, most of the important people go there." explained Henry as he eyed me in the rearview mirror.

"You say most of the important people, but there are only two people. Some crazy girl named Olivia and some weirdo named Dagger of all things." Jacob huffed.

"Eeh don't worry about it, the mission branch is probably lame anyways. Who'd wanna be around Olivia twelve-hours a day." reassured Henry. "Hey Kazuma, got any special skills?"

"Let's see, I can make coffee very well. Used to run Sliggoo Coffee when it was still open."

"Oh, that place! Who knows, maybe you'll still be able to make coffee for the Gamma Team!"

Making coffee for the Gamma Team actually sounded like a good idea. Not only would it let me get back into the feel of making wonderful coffee for others. But it might also help me find a place in the Gamma Team.

"That sounds like a great idea, but I'm going to need supplies."

"We can run it by our leader, she might say yes and even give us the money."

"Keep dreaming you two." Jacob said with a smile.

I rubbed my hands and grinned, trying to make a villain impression. "Ha, we're not dreaming, but planning."

Thirty minutes later

We made it to the Pokécare center. I looked at the small building. Fortunately, the center was a few minutes away from Sacater Town, which had a Gamma Team entrance. The Pokécare center was open 24 hours a day and had a huge field to house Pokémon. We casually walked inside the center. It was completely empty except for the attendant in the front.

She had red and brown hair and shining earrings. She was busy typing something on her computer. When she looked up from her computer, her eyes grew as she realized who we were.

She pressed a button on her desk and called code gray. We watched as nothing happened. She rose from her chair and backed away.

"What do you want?" asked the woman, evidently trying to keep her voice neutral.

I decided to play evil guy. I walked up to the woman and gave her a cruel smile.

"Me and my friends are here to recall some Pokémon. I don't care if you think you shouldn't because we're Gamma members. My friend here just destroyed half of a prison tower with one Pokémon. And if you don't comply, then it'll be pretty interesting to see how much more durable you are compared to the tower."

The woman didn't scream, she turned completely white and slowly sat at her computer. Her reaction oddly pleased me.

"Ok, I'll get your Pokémon. W-What's your name?"

"I'm Lord Kazuma, that's my friend Jacob Tarot, make it snappy."

The woman went on her computer and started doing stuff. After a few moments she looked up and informed me that my name didn't appear. I realized that I had to use my real name.

"Zack Schrank."

After a few clicks, she told me that she found my name and that my Pokémon will appear in a few minutes.

"Just to be clear, if you ever call me by anything other than Lord Kazuma, I will know and you'll regret it."

"O-of course, Kazuma."

"Lord Kazuma!"

I walked away and took a seat on one of the sofas, I felt strangely proud of myself. But maybe the feeling wasn't strange, he just showed that he wasn't just a coffee maker, but an evil, dominant, coffee maker. My two friends sat next to me.

"That was epic! And I thought only our leader could boss people like that!" Henry exclaimed.

"With skills like that, you'd be perfect for the mission branch!" remarked Jacob.

A loud ding interrupted them. "Your Pokémon are here." The receptionist said.

Me and Jacob got up and claimed our Pokémon, as we left, I turned and faced the lady.

"If you think I'm bad, then you don't know our leader. If a single word of this gets out, I'm sure our leader will see to it personally that you get punished. Good day."

We jumped into the jeep and drove to Sacater Town.

"Hold on, we're still wearing our suits."

"It's ok, it saves us from having to buy a Nuclear Fission drink," said Jacob.

"What?"

We eventually made it to the town. Henry drove the car next to a diner under Jacob's instructions and we all followed Jacob into the diner. A man was inside cleaning uo, he looked at us and saw our clothing. He went to the fridge and flicked a switch.

"It's good to see you again Jacob, maybe you can visit for reasons other than the Gamma Team later."

"I will sometime later, but right now, I've got something important to do. Bye Gordon."

We all went back to the truck and saw that there was an underground tunnel. Henry gave a low whistle as we climbed into the jeep. Henry drove it down the ramp and into the tunnel. The door behind us shut as lights flickered on.

"If you follow my directions exactly, we will end up in Voyanna City at the main Gamma HQ. Now, on the first fork you will want to turn left at the first intersection."

Five hours later.

As it turned out, Sacrater Town was very far from Voyana City. We made it at around 8 am. The main base parking garage was amazing. There were all sorts of vehicles parked neatly along the wall. They were all high-tech and clean, our grass ridden, camo jeep was out of place here.

"Couldn't you have gotten a high-tech off-roader?" I asked.

"Beggars can't be choosers, I don't own any of these." replied Henry.

"Anyways, it's time for you to meet our leader," said Jacob.

"I have a question, why do you always say our leader? Why not refer to them as male or female?"

"Since you technically haven't been added as an official member, we can't reveal anything about our leader. We don't even know what they look like."

"Let me guess, only the higher ups do."

"Yeah, all premium branches have perks and stuff. The executive branch actually gets to see our leader and speak to her in-person. The research branch gets a bunch of money for all their research projects. The mission branch gets to do all the cool missions. While we grunts do all the grunt work."

"Statuses are lame, the higher ups just act all high and mighty while it's really the grunts who do all the sweat work."

"You'd act like that in their position," said Jacob, giving me a sly wink.

We walked in silence for the rest of the trip. We went into the main hall. It had a red and gold carpet and gray walls. There were many rooms branching off and many Gamma members walking around, where everyone gave me looks as if I didn't belong. And I didn't, not yet at least.

We climbed many stairs until we made it to a room. The door was bolted shut and had a gold slit big enough for a pair of eyes to look through. Henry knocked on the door and waited.

"What do you want?" came a sharp feminine voice.

"We have a new recruit."

There was silence on the other side. After a few moments, the golden slit slid open as a pair of scarlet eyes looked through it. I jumped back, startled at how sudden they appeared and how hateful the eyes seemed.

"I can't see him, if he's standing behind you two. Scoot!"

Jacob and Henry moved back and pushed me forward.

"Now leave!"

They turned and left me to face the leader. As much as I hated it, I couldn't blame them for leaving immediately.

"What's your name?"

I could feel hate radiating off of her, the entire thing was freaky. I wanted to freeze up like a statue, or run like my pals did. But I could tell she wanted one of those reactions.

"My name's Lord Kazuma."

In those scarlet eyes of hers, I saw a small twinkle. The hate I felt radiating off of her disappeared, and was replaced with amusement.

"Well I see you're a strong one. I can tell your name's not Kazuma by the way, but I like it. Let's omit the Lord part shall we?"

"Sure I guess, but I can't really tell if you're smiling or not. It's pretty weird talking to a door."

She chuckled, if it was supposed to make me feel unnerved, it didn't work.

"I like you Kazuma, you've certainly got more spine compared to some other people. Let's keep this between ourselves, my real name is Scarlet but in the company of others, you call me Lady."

I stared into those scarlet eyes of her, her eyes were bright and fierce. I could only hope mine were to.

"My real name is Zack, but in the company of others, you call me Kazuma."

She laughed again. "I think we have a lot more in common than we think." Her voice went back to a menacing tone. "Don't betray this trust between us, or I'll personally kill you."

I probably shouldn't have been staring into her eyes, it took all the focus I could muster just to say "Yes ma'am."

"Before you leave, take your badge. And to your question of setting up a coffee station somewhere in the base, yes you can. I'll even give you some money, only because you're the most interesting person I have ever met."

It was only after I took my badge and started down the stairs that I realized I never even told her about the coffee thing.

Jacob and Henry were waiting for me down the stairs.

"So how'd it go?" asked Jacob.

"I got a badge and she said yes to me making coffee."

"She gave you your badge? She rarely gives a badge without a mission. You must have really impressed her."

"What can I say, I'm a pretty impressive guy."

We all laughed, Jacob had a mission to do, so Henry took me to the grunt quarters to get some rest.

As I laid in bed, I thought about the new family I had. It was going to be easy fitting in once I set up the coffee station. But my mind drifted to Scarlet, how could she know about my question before I asked it? Why did I get all those feelings from her?

Originally, this chapter was going to be much longer. But I decided that this would be a nice place to stop. Don't worry, there's going to be plenty of Pokémon battling in the next chapter. (To Singoffan: Sorry about not putting your character in the story like I said I would. But since I split the two chapters, he isn't in this one. He's in the next one however.)
