Hey guys! Welcome to chapter ten. I'm going to be focusing on two characters in the first half before switching over to Oak Agency. Just a heads up. Hope you enjoy it!

No one's POV

Maggie Winters watched as Marlow stormed out of the room. She emerged from her hiding place when he was gone and picked up her bracelet. She chastised herself for taking it off and fiddling with it in the first place.

She remembered the horrible scene she'd witnessed of him experimenting on the Altaria. She wasn't even supposed to be here, she had just come to ask a question.

She noticed the door was open and snuck into the lab. She knew this was a bad idea, but the Altaria looked so hurt that she couldn't help it.

She ran a hand over the Altaria, feeling sorry for it. She looked around the lab for its pokeball, and instead came across a curious door.

The door was made out of reinforced steel with a keypad locking it. There was a slidable, rectangular flap that you could put objects through. She figured that the computer in the lab had access to cameras that were used to view the inside of the safe room, but she figured she could at least use the flap to see what was inside.

She took a deep breath and opened the flap, fearful of whatever monster Pokémon was kept inside a reinforced steel room. But the sight stopped her cold.

Rather than a genetically modified Pokémon. All that was in the room was a girl. She looked to be about eighteen or so. She was currently sleeping and didn't even look well.

Maggie was unsure of what to do and started to slowly walk away. When a voice came.

"Where do you think you're going?"

Maggie's heart almost leapt out of her chest and she stopped cold. She was too scared to turn around, fearing Marlow had come back to his lab. She then realized the voice came from the safe room.

The girl was standing in front of the flap. She had jet black hair and was pretty pale. She had tired brown eyes.

"I uhm, didn't know y-you were awake." stammered Maggie.

"Well I'm pretty good at acting."

"Who are you?"

"Oh no one. Just the person you kidnapped a few months ago!"
Maggie recoiled in horror as words got caught on her throat. The girl registered her shock and gave her a dubious look.

"T-that can't be true! We don't deal in kidnappings!"

"I guess the Gamma Team isn't as honest as you thought."

"But why would they?"

"I'm guessing you saw my Altaria. Conducting experiments with my key stone and Altarianite."

"That's horrible."

The girl was silent for a moment. "I guess some people here actually have a conscience. I know you probably can't break me out of here, but there's something I want to ask of you."

"I'll do it."

"I have a brother. His name is Juan Garcia. I want you to tell him that I'm okay. And that I miss him."

"I'll find a way to do more than that. I promise."

"Thank you."

"Before I go. May I have your name?"

"Katie."

Maggie nodded and left. As she walked through the science wing. She couldn't help but think over the strange encounter. She couldn't help but feel bad for Katie. She found herself wishing she hadn't been talked into joining the Gamma Team

Suddenly, her radio pinged her. This meant she was being called by the executive leader. Most likely on a solo mission. She began to worry that maybe she'd been caught conversing with Katie.

She soon arrived at the executive branch room. Other than the leader, there was another executive branch member sitting at the side of him.

"Hello Maggie. We need you for a mission. We need you to take this drone and this Pokémon to Poképark," he said while indicating the pokéball and device on the table. "Inside the pokéball is a Toxtricity that has been given a serum that gives it the Alpha Gene. I don't really need to talk about it. Anyways, all you do is deploy the drone and release the Toxtricity. We want to see how it does in its original home with the Alpha Gene."

He picked up the pokéball and sent out the Toxtricity. When Maggie saw it, she was shocked at how big the low key Toxtricity was. Normally, she'd be a few inches taller than the Pokémon, but it towered over her by at least a foot.

The Toxtricity gave her a bored look as it stared down at her. It ambled off to one side and settled down for a nap. The executive branch leader returned the Pokémon and handed the pokéball and the drone to Maggie.

"Any questions?"

Maggie shook her head and left. The executive branch leader smiled and turned to his comrade.

"That's what I like about Maggie. She doesn't ask questions or purposely try to be annoying. But she's pretty shy."

"Don't forget expendable. That's the entire reason why we sent her on the mission."

"I forgot. I hate blunt people."

Ten minutes later

Maggie's POV

I walked out onto the park, keeping my head low. I hurried off to one edge of the park and looked around in case anybody before setting the drone on the ground.

I didn't really have any incriminating reason to be paranoid, but better safe than sorry. I didn't want anyone calling the police for deploying weird drones.

The drone beeped to life. "Energy hotspot located. Initiating."

I had no idea what a hotspot was, but I figured it had to do with my mission. I took out the pokéball and released the Toxtricity. It gave me that blank look again.

I shrugged and turned around, heading back to my car. Something changed in the air and I heard a dreadful shriek. I turned around and what I saw stopped my heart.

The Toxtricity was groaning and shrieking. A red energy surrounded it as the sky started turning pink. The Pokémon was stretching and growing, its eyes glowing yellow as it glowed a blinding white.

It got onto all fours and grew extra spikes along its body. Blue and yellow electricity rippled along its back as a pink electric mass formed in the middle. It gave a dreadful roar as it stared me down. A red storm formed above it as it fully Gigantimaxed.

I turned around and started running. The Toxtricity shrieked, causing me to look back. I screamed and dove as the pink mass came crashing down. I was thrown back as waves of electricity slammed into me.

I tried to get up, but my legs felt as if they were moving through lead. I felt as if my muscles had atrophied as the paralysis settled in.

The Toxtricity slammed its weapon into the ground, causing geysers of poison to shoot through the ground. It looked around, its eyes narrowing as it spotted me.

I painfully reached into my pocket and opened the first pokéball I felt and opened it. My Absol came out of the pokéball by my side. Being an Absol, I was sure he'd sense the impending disaster. He shoved me onto his back and started running.

The Toxtricity missed his next strike and shrieked as it pulled back its weapon. I knew that it would eventually hit the both of us unless something got its attention. Obviously, I wasn't going to endanger any of my Pokémon.

"Hey you! Why don't you pick on somebody your own size!" shouted a voice.

The Toxtricity whipped around and stared at the newcomer. The man was an employee at Poképark, and was running straight at the giant Pokémon.

"Go, Darla!"

A Salazzle appeared in front of him. I had expected the man to Dynamax his Pokémon, but he just sent out his Pokémon normally.

"You're not the only Pokémon with the Alpha Gene. Ready Darla? Dynamax!"

The man pointed his wrist towards his Salazzle. Red Dynamax energy flew towards the Pokémon and encircled it. His method of Dynamaxing was unusual because you're supposed to Dynamax the pokéball with the Pokémon inside. Nonetheless, the Salazzle grew in size to rival the Toxtricity.

"Alright, use Max Flare!"

The Salazzle fired a huge torrent of fire at the Toxtricity, though the Pokémon twisted away from the flames and scurried backwards. A harsh glare filled the battlefield as the sunlight intensified.

"Now you're afraid! Use Max Ooze!"

The Salazzle lashed her tail into the ground, causing geysers of poison to shoot around the Toxtricity. The Toxtricity ran forward and raised its mass while standing on two legs. The Toxtricity swung it straight at the Salazzle.

The weapon smacked into the side of the Pokémon's face. Causing it to stagger back as it briefly glowed purple.

"You can't poison a poison type! Max Flare!"

The Toxtricity swung its weapon again right as the Salazzle used Max Flare. Both attacks collided as the mass started turning red.

The mass of electricity exploded as it pulsed throughout the park. Both Pokémon were knocked off their feet as me and Absol went tumbling down. My radio sparked and died as I felt my phone heating up in my pocket. I painfully sat up as I realized the paralysis was fading and saw that the entire park was a mess. I returned Absol and slowly got to my feet.

I froze as the Toxtricity got to its feet. The Salazzle had been defeated and was laying on the floor at its normal size. The Toxtricity shrieked at the loss of its weapon and started to glow as electricity rippled across its body, a new weapon already forming on its back.

"Oh no you don't. Go, ultra ball!"

The man had already stood up and threw a gigantic ultra ball. The ball rucked the Toxtricity inside with extreme pressure. The ball landed on the ground with a heavy thud before shaking. The ball dinged and shrunk back to a normal sized ultra ball.

"Great. Return, Darla. Now we just need to find the Gamma Team member who caused this mess."

That was my cue. I turned and ran towards the entrance. I heard the man behind me but I didn't stop. The paralysis was gone now and I ran all the way to my car, hopped in, and tore down the street. Leaving Poképark far behind me.

No one's POV

Wilhelm painfully waited for his computer to start up. His Kommo-o, named Iridus, was desperately trying to get his attention.

"Not now Iridus. Something strange happened, and I'm going to get to the bottom of this."

He had been looking at energy profiles in Poképark from the drone because the energy readings were off the charts. A strange pulse had knocked out the power grid for a few minutes.

His computer finished booting and he pulled up the charts he was looking at. Fortunately, the energy readers on the drone weren't affected by the power surge, allowing him to see exactly what happened.

As he stared intently at the charts, clicking through a few menus, Iridus gave up trying to get his attention and sauntered off to a corner.

The chart to most people looked like a mess of lines and numbers, but Wilhelm was able to get a coherent scene from it. Already, Poképark was a Dynamax hotspot. What Wilhelm believed was that somebody else Dynamaxed their Pokémon in response to the Toxtricity. The little spikes on the chart most likely were moves used by both Pokémon. Wilhelm was able to discern which attacks were used by the Toxtricity, and the moves used by the other Pokémon. As for the huge energy spike towards the end, he suspected the Toxtricity's weapon exploded. A mass of energy that large could deal massive damage.

Wilhelm sat at his desk, daydreaming about how Dynamax energy could better the lives of everyone. Dynamax Pokémon and Wishing Stars produced massive amounts of energy. He wondered if it would even be possible to harness the power of Dynamax hotspots for purposes other than Dynamaxing.

All this was interrupted when he heard a dreadful scream. Iridus woke up as Wilhelm ran from his lab into the hallway. Another scientist was running, clutching his bleeding hand.

"What happened?"

The scientist looked at Wilhelm in surprise. "Just a rogue Pokémon. Nothing to be alarmed about."

"But you're bleeding."

"Dumb thing just bit me. I assure you, everything is fine."

Wilhelm watched him run off, immediately suspicious. He went down the hall to the person's lab. He saw that the door was open and walked in, Iridus at his heels.

Iridus noticed the open computer and went to examine it. Wilhelm looked around the lab, noting all the destruction. Papers had been shredded and tables had been overturned. Mysterious liquids oozed slowly out of shattered beakers and vials.

Wilhelm walked up to the safe room door. The reinforced steel door was currently locked. He could hear scratching on the other side. He stared at the flap, wondering if he should open it.

He was about to open the door when Iridus pulled his hand away. The Kommo-o dragged him over to the computer and pointed at it.

"I don't think you're supposed to have been accessing his computer."

Iridus rolled her eyes and pointed at the science log. Wilhelm read over it, growing more and more uncomfortable with every word.

Subject AJ-8

5/13/2026

The hybridization is a success. I have created a hybrid between a Breloom and a Krokorok. There are many technicalities on why this worked, but I'll save that for a different entry. The creature however is highly unstable. After a few hours in the safe room, the Pokémon started crying, and in fact, wouldn't stop. After a few more hours, the Pokémon started becoming very aggressive. This phase only lasted for about ten minutes. Leading me to believe that this Pokémon's emotions can change like the weather. I shall test its battle capabilities and other abilities later in the future. Pokémon can only have two types, and that rule applies to my hybrid. It seems to be a grass and dark type. But with the research I have made, I deduce that some bio genetic modifying should allow me to change Subject AJ-8's typing between grass, fighting, ground, and dark. This is revolutionary! Imagine the endless possibilities! We could create never before seen type combinations within a few days! In all fairness, though, perhaps I should slow down. The effects of this fusion on the Pokémon's wellbeing remains to be fully understood.

Wilhelm sat down on an office chair 'd never known this side of the Gamma Team. His only reason for joining was the fact he lacked the necessary funding for his experiments. Next to him, Iridus also looked uncomfortable.

"Don't worry Iridus. I have a plan. I'm going to have to use one of your scales."

Six hours later

Wilhelm had formulated and executed the perfect plan. The first part was easy. He just slipped one of Iridus scales in between the door and the frame so that the door would close, but the automatic lock wouldn't lock it.

The second part of his plan was much harder. He'd gone to Molly to see if he could get some of her fingerprint spray. That had led to a series of other tasks and difficulties.

"Excuse me Molly. I was wondering if I could borrow some of your fingerprint spray," Wilhelm had said at the time.

"No way! This is too precious. Unless you can give me something that belongs to Olivia."

Wilhelm had gone to Olivia to see if she could give him something. He had been met with another task.

"I'll take that amethyst over there," said Wilhelm.

"Well if you want it, then you'll have to get me something. There's a scientist named Gwendolyn with this cool acidic toxin thingie. I want it."

Wilhelm had gone all over the science wing until he found Gwendolyn. He was then met with yet another request.

"If you want my toxin, you'll have to get me a mega stone shard," Gwendolyn had said. Much to Wilhelm's annoyance.

Wilhelm had gone to Marlow, who he was already acquainted with. He'd figured that getting the shard wouldn't be so difficult due to his acquaintance with Marlow.

"I can provide you with a shard, but I'll need something in return."

"What is it?"

"I just need a large source of energy. One to power my experiment. I'll show you the details."

Wilhelm had been glad Marlow had asked for something he could provide. They sorted everything out and Wilhelm got the shard, in return for three of his mega batteries.

He'd then returned to all the people he had requests from until he had the amethyst for Molly.

"Oh! I've seen this amethyst before. I'll take it, here's the spray."

After Wilhelm had obtained the spray, he got some treats and a luxury ball. He'd waited for night to fall before sneaking to the laboratory.

"All right, here I go," Wilhelm said to nobody in particular.

He tested the handle and pulled the door. His plan worked as the door swung open easily. He picked up Iridus' scale and headed into the room.

He walked up to the room and applied the spray to the keypad. Certain keys glowed as the combination was revealed. He punched in the numbers and opened the door.

He saw AJ-8 curled up on the floor and slowly approached it, brandishing a treat from his pocket.

The hybrid looked very strange. It looked more like a Breloom, but had a long snout like a Krokorok and was brown in a few places. It had a long Krokorok tail with mushroom spores clustered around the end.

"Uhm, hello?"

AJ-8 looked up and started snarling, but it seemed hesitant to come closer to Wilhelm.

"It's okay, I'm friendly. I understand you've been through a lot." he tossed a treat to AJ-8 and pulled out another one.

AJ-8 stood up and took the treat. It gingerly ate the treat and accepted another one that Wilhelm threw.

"We can escape from here together. I won't hurt you."

AJ-8 crept forward slowly and accepted a treat directly from Wilhelm's hand. It looked up at Wilhelm, and settled down at his feet.

"It's okay, you can trust me."

He pulled out another treat and the luxury ball. AJ-8 ate the treat and stared at the ball in his hands.

"I'm only using it so that no one will see you. I'll let you out as soon as we're safe. I'll call you Pepper."

Pepper looked from the ball to Wilhelm. It pushed the button on the ball and sucked itself inside.

Wilhelm pocketed the ball and left the lab, careful to close all the doors. He ran all the way from the lab and into the underground garage. He sent out Iridus as he started looking for his car.

"Keep watch please."

Iridus nodded and paced around the room. As Wilhelm moved through the garage, Iridus froze and started growling.

"What's wrong?"

She crept towards one of the cars, prompting Wilhelm to follow her. Wilhelm heard fast breathing from behind the car. He signaled for Iridus to wait and took out one of his pokéballs.

"There's nobody here. Let's go."

He quietly sent out his Vanillish. He signaled for quiet as he casually walked away. He raised his hand and counted down from three with his fingers.

As soon as his last finger went down, he and his Pokémon sprang forward to meet the person hiding behind the car. The person stumbled from behind the car and sent out two pokéballs.

A smiling Gengar and an Absol both appeared. Wilhelm wasn't able to see exactly who the trainer was, but figured he should deal with the Pokémon first.

"Iridus, use Clangorous Soul. Halby, use Ice Beam!"

Rainbow lights surrounded Iridus as she boosted her stats while sacrificing some of her energy. The Vanillish fired at the Absol, who leaped out of the way while using Night Slash with its horn.

The Gengar went for the Vanillish, but Absol growl told him otherwise. Instead, he charged at Iridus and used Shadow Punch.

"Iron Defense!"

Iridus' scales seemed to become pure iron as the Gengar struck her. His attack rebounded and did nothing as Iridus used Clanging Scales.

"Night Shade!"

Wilhelm somewhat recognized the voice, but he didn't have time to dwell on it as a ghostly projection of the Gengar settled over Iridus.

"Use Hypnosis!"

The Gengar dodged another Clanging Scales and phazed away. He appeared behind Iridus and began bombarding her with Night Shade.

"Argh okay! I give up. I don't battle much anyways," said Wilhelm as returned his Pokémon.

"Good, now please leave. I have important things to be doing," said the person as they returned their Pokémon.

Wilhelm then recognized the voice. "Wait a minute, you're Maggie!"

"Fine, but you should really leave. You don't want to get caught up with what I'm doing."

"Oh really? What if I have something to do as well? Youds seem extremely suspicious due to the fact you're avoiding the topic of what you're doing. Why were you hiding behind the car?"

Maggie seemed to shrink back at what he said and started mumbling. "I can't drive the cars. They need to be preprogrammed."

Something clicked in Wilhelm's mind. "Your car isn't preprogrammed? That means you're not supposed to be here!"

Maggie froze. "Okay fine. I'm not supposed to be here. What about you? What are you doing here?"

"Just going out to collect some scientific material. I better be off actually," said Wilhelm as he slowly made his way to his car. Fortunately, being a scientist, his car didn't have to be preprogrammed with a direction before start up.

Maggie watched him walk past, she too had her own suspicions and quietly followed him.

"I know you're following me. What I'm doing has nothing to do with you."

Maggie stayed quiet as WIlhelm reached his car and turned around. He was about to open the car door when the garage door slammed open. A scientist and four Gamma members stormed in.

"There he is! I want my experiment back!"

Wilhelm froze for a moment as Maggie yanked open the passenger door and leaped in. Wilhelm wasted no time and dove into the driver's seat. He started the car and tore off down the tunnels.

"What did you do?" asked Maggie as the Gamma members chased them in another car.

"The right thing! Why are you here?"

"Uhm, because I might be in a bit of trouble."

"So you were planning on running away from the Gamma Team?"

"Yes."

"Well same here. We should work together."

The car jostled as something hard hit it. Maggie looked back and saw a Sandaconda using Earthquake.

"We can talk about that later! Drive faster!"

Wilhelm hit the gas and made a wildy turn down one part of a tunnel, the side of the door scraped against the wall as the car jostled dangerously.

"We have to lose them!" shouted Wilhelm.

"I have a destination in mind," said Maggie.

Forty minutes later

"Explain to me why we are here in the middle of the night?" asked Haruka.

"Something strange happened," said Gavin.

"That's exactly right," said Scott. He led them over to the mission room where Victor pulled up some footage.

A Gamma Team car drove towards the Oak Agency headquarters, followed by another car with a Sandaconda. The Sandaconda used an Earthquake, the move slammed into the first car. The first car was already battered, and the move caused it to tip over onto two wheels.

The driver door burst open as a Kommo-o fell out of the door shielding two people. At that point, Oak Agency members were swarming outside. The other Gamma car pulled away as the Kommo-o was subdued with the two Gamma members being arrested.

"Okay they were arrested. I don't see how it's relative to us," said Haruka.

"We're in charge of the interrogation," said Victor.

"They're Gamma Team members, they'll clam up."

"Honestly, my guess is that they're working undercover. Why else would Gamma Team members be chasing them," said Aisha.

"Except, we don't have any secret agents." pointed out Scott.

"Unless they were so secret that we didn't even know about them," said Joyce raising an eyebrow.

"Maybe they're vigilantes." offered Gavin.

"Well whoever they are, they could tell me something about my sister. I'll be part of the interrogation," said Juan.

"So will I. We could do a good cop nice cop thing," said Joyce.

"I thought it was good cop bad cop."

"That kind of thing doesn't really work."

Three minutes later

Juan and Joyce walked into the interrogation room, Maggie and Wilhelm sat at one end of the table while the rest of Oak Alpha watched through one way glass.

"Hello, I take it you must be Maggie Winters and Wilhelm Straddler," said Joyce, keeping her voice calm and kind.

They both nodded.

"In this room, we should be as honest as possible, or else things won't work out. Got it?"

They both nodded again.

"Okay, are you current Gamma Team members? Or are you undercover agents?"

"Gamma Team members. At least, we used to," said Maggie.

"Used to?"

"We escaped from our base and went here. I stole one of their experiments on the way out," said Wilhelm.

"Why?"

"I witnessed a horrible experiment on a Pokémon. I couldn't take it anymore. So I stole the Pokémon and escaped."

"I came across untold secrets of the Gamma Team. Horrid experiments, kidnappings-"

Juan grew rigid, "Kidnappings? Did you meet the person?"

"Yes."

"What was her name?" demanded Juan.

"K-katie."

Juan sat back heavily. "Holy Arceus."

"A-are you Juan Garcia?"

"Yes."

"She wanted me to tell you that she's okay and she misses you."

Juan sat still for a moment, got up, and left the room. A few minutes later, Gavin walked in and took Juan's spot.

"Uhm, so! Now that we've gotten the reason why you left out of the way. Let's start the real interrogation. Let's talk about the inside of the Gamma Team."

An hour later

Both Maggie and Wilhelm had been released, but they insisted on staying in the Oak Agency base. Maggie had even asked if she could join Oak Agency, while Wilhelm excused himself for a moment.

They were currently looking over profiles of some of the mission branch members. Two members hadn't had their profiles pulled up as there was little information on them.

One of them was Lord Kazuma; there were no records of someone being named Kazuma in the Calzei region. Maggie and WIlhelm were unable to give a clear description of Elaine, or provide her last name.

"Let's see, there are about one hundred and twenty-two people in the Calzie region, and thirteen have criminal records. Another seventeen have had criminal charges against them. Only three of those Elaine match your description." stated Victor.

"What about the rest?" asked Gavin.

"Some of the others are more obvious. Olivia Cartwright. A known serial killer whose victims are always Team Plasma members. Known methods of killing involve strangulation and killing-"

"I'm going to stop you right there. What about the less obvious ones?" asked Ellen.

"There's Devon Manson. A known competitive battler who one plenty of medals and trophies. Banned from the Voyanna city tournaments for his brutal battle strategies."

"As if he doesn't have enough money." muttered Haruka. "Probably one of those big headed battlers who have a long chain of girlfriends and spend hours bragging about how great they are."

No one noticed Aisha gritting her teeth at Haruka's statement.

"Another one is Gabrielle Lem- wait a minute. Is she related to you Gavin?"

Gavin sighed. "Yeah, she is. She joined the Gamma Team to get revenge on the Oak Agency for killing her boyfriend. Some abusive snake named Michael Sparks."

"Michael Sparks? He was killed by another gang member in a gang fight a long time ago," said Scott.

"I figured that, but she believed otherwise. She soon cut off all contact with me and our stepdad."

"Don't worry, she'll listen at one point. You just need to find her and convince her," said Joyce.

"Thanks."

"Anyways," continued Victor. "This is a lot of information to use against the Gamma Team."

"That's considering whether or not it's true." stated Haruka.

"Right, all we need to do is formulate a plan."

"I already have one," said Juan walking into the room. "We infiltrate the base and save my sister."

And that's the end of the chapter. I know I said I won't be able to post until late August, but I didn't want to leave you guys on a cliffhanger. But now, I actually must withdraw from fanfiction for a month and a few days. See you next school year!
