Previously on The Owl House: Return of the Lost Son, one day has passed since Lincoln and Luz made their way to the Demon Realm, the Boiling Isles and met with Eda and her band of misfits. Despite Luz's eagerness to be a witch's apprentice, Eda's approach of having them work for their staffs; including helping her side businesses, didn't help her. They encountered a demon named Adegast, who desired revenge on the Owl Lady for stealing his business, convinced Luz to go on a "quest" to lure Eda and her more illusion-piercing friend.
Words were exchanged and Lincoln learned about his biological father, Draven Godspeed, his connection to Eda and the fate of his fellow Azarathians. The duo, along with King, ran after Luz when she ran off to the quest herself. Adegast was eventually destroyed by amassing too much power too quickly. But none were aware that one of Adegast's puppets was never really a puppet to begin with, and the "quest" that he sent the human on had more truth than even he realized.
Front Yard, The Owl House, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Morning
Outside the Owl house. We see Lincoln's book on the open ground. Lincoln was standing up with Caliburn in his hand and he was taking a deep breath.
Lincoln: Okay. Here we go.
Lincoln points the sword at the sky and from the sword comes a burst of white fire that flew to you don't want to know where.
Lincoln: Great! And I didn't set off a forest fire.
Unknown: My cart! I was supposed to retire tomorrow! (Lincoln tenses)
Luz: Lincoln! Eda wants to show us something.
Lincoln: I'm coming.
We see Lincoln, Luz, Eda and King standing on a beach looking at something.
Eda: Well guys! (She nudges Lincoln and Luz with her elbow) Did you ever think in your life that you would see something as impressive as this?
She gestures to the corpse of a trash slug towering over them. It is surrounded by rubbish and rubbish. Flies buzz audibly around the corpse. It's a giant worm with the characteristics of leeches. Its grey body is cylindrical and tapers towards the tail spotted with faded orange pustules. Its mouth is a jawless orifice lined with large, pointed teeth and ringed by five stubby feeding tentacles that are used to grasp food and protect the mouth when not feeding. Large eyes are spread across its back and head, and large black spines run along the back between the eyes located on the head and those on the back. Coloration is dark green across the dorsal surface and light green on its ventral side, which is divided into segments like annelid worms.
Luz: (Shaking her head) I don't like this. (Covers her nose)
Lincoln: You pulled me out of reading my father's book just to see this? (gestures to the corpse)
Eda: (walks towards the trash slug) Yeah, there's nothing more inspiring than the trash slug. He makes a home, a lifetime out of what others have thrown by the wayside (Pulls a rubber chicken out of the trash slug's mouth) Until, blam, it gets blasted by a wave one day and croaks from all the salt. And then we get to sell the stuff it ate. (She pulls out a pickaxe)
Lincoln: (disgusted) I think I'm going to throw up.
Luz: Please, don't make us.
King: (Walking away) Oh come on Luz (Unfolds a white towel with a yellow rubber duck on it and puts on a pair of cyan holed sunglasses) It's not every day you have to go to the dump and take apart a garbage carcass.
Eda: Ah, nuts to you all.
Eda swings the pick at the trash slug.
Lincoln: So, Eda...
The glass shatters upon being hit by the tool
Lincoln: What if instead of finishing off a corpse, we can try some new lessons for our apprenticeship? Like...
Something crashes.
Luz: Reading ancient scrolls or mixing potions, or….
Eda: (While tossing things out of the garbage slug's mouth such as part of a telephone) Ugh. That sounds like a lot of magic school stuff.
Lincoln (Intrigued): Wait. Is there a magic school here?
Luz: (Excited) Like, winding towers, cute uniforms, dark plots that threaten your life, some kind of magic school?
Eda: Mm-hmm. What's worse, they force you to learn magic the "proper" way. But magic is not appropriate. It is wild and unpredictable. And that's why it's so beautiful. I didn't finish school, and look at me! Who wouldn't envy where I am now?
Flies are flying around the garbage pile that Eda is currently on. The teens look at each other awkwardly, until Eda notices something.
Eda: Uh... Hey, here's a lesson (Drops her pick) A great witch is resourceful, (Puts Luz's hand into a pool of green trash slug bile) like this.
Eda drags Luz's hand back and forth before letting go. Luz keeps digging until she gets something out.
Lincoln: (looks up with a raised eyebrow) A greasy ball of slime bile?
Eda: (Closes Luz's hands around the slime ball) Use your slime ball wisely, young witch. (Stands up and heads towards the garbage slug) Back at it! We'll hit the stink nodes first.
Luz: Actually, if it's okay (Starts backing away) I think I'll head home and look at pictures of animals that are still…alive. Love you King. (She pets his belly making him giggle) You little beach peach. (Continues walking towards the forest)
Lincoln: I'll go home too, I still have to learn to do more spells besides lightning and fire. (He runs after Luz in close pursuit)
King sighs.
Eda: (shrugs) More for me then.
She climbs into the trash slug, sending several things clattering.
Eda: There we go. Okay
She tosses out a cheese grater, an electric fan, and a tuba, the last of which lands on King's head.
King: Ow! (Struggles to free himself)
Eda: This is awesome!
Play music: The Owl House Theme
The portal appears and opens.
Luz and Lincoln appear, and appear to be going through the sky upwards, but the camera shows that it was upside down and that actually, they were falling.
Eda rescues Luz and Lincoln, and along with King, they appear flying the Owl Staff, in the direction of The Owl House.
The camera follows them to the Owl House.
It approaches the door, where Hooty is, Luz opens it and is seen twirling the staff, until she leaves it standing, Luz puts her right hand on her hip, and holds the staff with her left while Lincoln draws his sword and strikes a similar pose
Eda takes the staff away from her and Luz gets nervous, Lincoln giving a funny one while King stands in front of the camera to wave with his arms outstretched.
Willow, Gus, and Amity appear in three frames.
Willow makes a heart with her hands, Gus holds out his arms in celebration, and Amity just ignores, and turns her back, crossing her arms.
King appears holding a stuffed rabbit, along with many other stuffed animals around.
He pretends to rule these stuffed animals, until some of them fall on him, while other stuffed animals keep falling in front of the camera.
Luz flies over Bonesborough while Lincoln rides alongside, where she meets Tiny Nose, Willow and Gus.
Later, Eda and King are seen running from the guards, They help them escape, but later Luz loses control of the staff, and are chased by a creature.
Luz, Lincoln, Eda and King are on the roof of the Owl House, where Luz casts her Light Spell, making it go into the night.
The Owl House
Return of the Lost Son
The Owl House logo appears, then the Light and Lightning spells streaks across it with background sounds. The theme ends there.
Chapter 3
I Was a Teenage Abomination
The Forest, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
A monster that looks very distantly related to a butterfly, with the head being more humanoid and a spine replacing the thorax flies across the woods, panting. Luz walks down the path, glaring at the slimeball.
Luz: Ugh! If magic is all about digging for slime balls, maybe I don't have the stomach for it (Pockets the slime ball)
Lincoln: If you want, when we get home I can let you have a look at my father's spell book.
Luz: I'm still surprised that Eda knew your father. It's as if all the mysteries of your life were pointing to Eda. But what about your birth mother?
Lincoln: (picks at his shoulder) Eda said she never met her but I think maybe my dad left a clue in the book or something.
Luz: Well, we already know what we will do.
Female Voice: (Offscreen) You can do it! You can!
The two stopped to listen to a voice.
Luz: (Looks around) Mysterious voice of encouragement?
Lincoln: I think it's coming from there. (pointed at the bushes)
Luz (looks through the bushes and gasps) No! Witch girl.
Through the bushes they see a girl the same age as Luz and Lincoln, a shorter-than-average overweight and stocky girl who has light skin, pointed ears, olive green eyes, and short, neat, dark navy blue hair with a few loose strands. She wears a pair of round gold-rimmed glasses and a gray tunic and a dark gray hood and a belt with a gold pin and gray-black short-heeled shoes, her sleeves and leggings are orchid pink.
Girl: (Stands to pace around) You can do it. Even if you get a bad grade, it's not a reflection of you as a witch. And my parents are right. (Stops pacing.) There are better opportunities on this track. Now get to school!
She moves forward and points confidently, but gets sad when she realizes that she stepped on a flower with lilac and purple petals.
Girl: Oh no! Oh, little friend! I am sorry!
She kneels and repeatedly casts a circle of spells. The flower perks up and fully blooms. Luz gasps as Lincoln is shocked to see this. The girl's ear wiggles as something rumbles off screen. She turns as a wagon, being moved by magic, rolls to a stop in front of her, carrying a pot and a girl reading a blue book of Magic 101.
The girl is skinny, with pale skin, chin-length hair with a ponytail pulling the front hair out of her face, and bright golden eyes. Like most witches, she has pointy ears. Her hair is two-toned, consisting of shades of aquamarine with brown hair—her natural hair color—visible at the roots.
Mean Girl: (Looks away from her book) Willow! Wow! (Hops off the pot) You are so unnoticeable that I almost rolled into ya. (chuckles)
The flower that Willow has just healed withers.
Willow: Hello, Amity. (Stands up)
Amity: Uh, shouldn't you get to class early to prep your...
Rattling cuts her off. They turn to Willow's pot as it spills, pouring out a purple substance and a yellow eyeball that blinks and groans.
Amity: Oh, Willow. You don't have anything to show, right?
Luz: (whispers to Lincoln) Witch drama.
Willow pulls up her hood as she blushes.
Amity: (sighs) That's why people call you "Half-a-Witch Willow".
Amity's cauldron starts rattling.
Amity: Oh, looks like someone wants to tell you something. (Takes the cover off her pot) Abomination (Snaps) rises.
His abomination rises up, becoming more solid until it is humanoid in form. Its body has such a very poor structure that makes maintaining a consistent form a struggle with three pink eyes, two on its left and a nasal socket. It bends out of the pot to hit Willow's forehead, leaving mud in a star shape.
Abomination: You're a... star.
Amity: Aw. It's like mine (Readjust a star-shaped badge that says "Top Student") But much smaller and meaningless. As top student, it's my duty to tell you to keep at it. (Puts an arm around Willow) Even you might get a passing grade one day. Abomination, cower.
It groans as it melts in the pot. Amity replaces the lid back on the pot and takes hold of the cart.
Amity: See you in class, superstar.
Amity walks away. Willow removes her hood. As Amity leaves, Luz and Lincoln watch her go, the former sticking her tongue at her while the latter's fist sparks in anger, a reminder of those back on Earth who believe themselves above others.
Lincoln: Well I hate her already.
Luz: Yes, she's a bully. But it's cute.
Lincoln stares at her and before he could say anything he heard Willow say something.
Willow: "Oh, see you in class, superstar!" (Wipes the star from forehead) I hate when he does that.
Luz and Lincoln flinch as they watch. The wind blows leaves around Willow as she rants.
Willow: I hate making abominations. I hate getting bad grades. Ugh! I can't take this anymore (shouts, his eyes glowing green)
Luz and Lincoln gasp. The flower from before is lost among giant thorny roots that burst out around it. They surround Willow, glowing and writhing angrily.
Two vines snake out and grab Luz and Lincoln by the ankles. They both scream. The roots drop them to the ground a bit behind Willow, who turns and looks at her, her eyes still bright.
The Beach, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
The scene cuts back to the beach, where Eda is tying a sack to her staff as King watches filled with orange eggs the size of a baseball.
Eda: Not a bad haul. That oviduct was loaded.
King: Ah. Lose apprentices, gain garbage eggs. Fair trade.
Eda: (Scoffs) I didn't lose anything.
King: If you don't teach Luz or Lincoln well, you will. That's when I'll come in, I'll make them my apprentices.
Eda: Ha! And what would you teach them? How to get caught in the arm of a sweater?
King: Hey, that only happened once! I'd teach them about demons. How to identify them, talk to 'em, raise an army with them and tear the world apart!
Eda: (turns to a King, leaning on the staff) After your sweater arm was ripped off, right?
King: You think you're so smart! Well (hops off the trash he's sitting on to Eda) Why don't we make a little bet where I can prove I'd be a better teacher?
Eda: It's okay. (reaches into her hair) I am obligated to remind you that I only use our bets to completely humiliate you (pulls out a book called "Eda King One Sided Wagers" showing Eda and King's hand shaking) And... (squats down, opening it to reveal a list of Eda's wins showing a star while King's boxes have the FAIL stamp on it.) that you've never won.
King: I like those odds.
Eda: So how is this? (grabs an egg with a larva inside it) Teach this garbage slug to be your loyal soldier in one day. Show that you can be a better teacher than me, and the kids are all yours. But if you don't, I'll change your name from King to... Mr. Wiggles.
King: Well, when you lose, you'll have to... wear a shame hat and sleep in a shack and never come back to the Owl House again!. Ha!
Eda: Deal.
King squeals as he stamps his paw on a page.
Eda throws the egg at King's head, breaking it open, leaving a green baby trash slug with three orange eyes between his horns. It slides down his skull with orange slime, but King catches it. It coos at him.
Eda: (Walking away) Ha ha!
The Forest, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Going back to the forest, where Luz and Lincoln are watching in awe as the roots are still writing around Willow. She finally seems to snap out of it, leaning forward worriedly and letting the roots fall.
Willow: Oh no no no no no no! So sorry! (Makes the roots that are still wrapped around Luz and Lincoln's legs retreat)
Luz: (rubs her leg) It's okay. The spines only pierced a few layers of skin.
Willow gets very close to Luz, forcing her to lean back a bit.
Willow: So... circly.
Luz squeals and covers her ears.
Willow: (gasps) You're human! This is astounding! (gasps and grabs Luz's face, then helps them both to their feet and walks around Luz) A human in the Boiling Isles! How did you get here? What are you doing here?
The sound of the pealing of bells can be heard nearby.
Willow: (shudders and lowers Luz's arm) Oh, sorry. I can't stay. I have to disappoint my master. It was a pleasure meeting you, human, and you too, (notices Lincoln's pointed ears) Wait, you're not in class, and where is your uniform? (looks at Lincoln)
Lincoln: (scratches the back of his neck) Well the truth is...
Luz: (Interrupts Lincoln) Wait! I'm Luz, he's Lincoln and you're Willow, right? What you did with that flower and those plants, it was... wow.
Willow: Thanks, but... I'm not even supposed to do plant magic.
Lincoln: Why?
Willow: My parents put me on the abomination track at school.
Luz: (squeals, grabbing Willow) Like magic school?
Willow nods.
Luz: That's great! (Lets go of Willow) I'm so jealous. I have a teacher, but her lessons are a bit...untraditional.
Lincoln: Plus I bet she wouldn't even let us sign up.
Luz: (nods up) But I wish I could spend a day there.
Willow: I wish I could get a passing grade for once. Then people would stop calling me "Half-a-Witch Willow."
She kicks her spilled abomination, which groans.
Luz: Hey, wait. I know how we both can get what we want.
Lincoln: (looks at her confused) What?
Luz: (picks up an abominable goo with both hands and splashes it on her hoodie) Make me your abomination. I'll give you a good grade and you can get me into magic school. It's fiendishly clever.
Willow and Lincoln: What?!
Luz: I saw that girl's thing. They're just weird talking bits of stuff. I'm a lot of things and I talk weird!
Willow: That's true. (giggles) Ok. It's a deal. Luz
Lincoln: (Intervened) Wait! You're not going to that school!
Luz: What!? But Linc…
Lincoln: Without me (He pointed to himself with his thumb)
Luz and Willow: What?
Lincoln: Last time you went off alone, you were tricked into almost getting trapped in a fantasy world made by an octopus demon, so I better be with you. Also, (smiles) I wanted to help you teach this girl a lesson for being so cocky.
Willow: But you can't! You're not a student, you don't even have a uniform!
Lincoln: Take it easy. All I have to do is find a costume that makes me look like a student.
The three of them thought about how to get Lincoln inside before Willow's eyes widened and she smiled.
Willow: Actually, I think I know a guy who can't help with this. (They shake hands.)
Luz: This is a great plan.
They try to pull their hands apart, but the abomination goo on Luz's leaves them stuck together.
Willow: Oops. Abomination goo.
Luz uses her foot to free them, but the force sends her splashing in the goo on the ground.
Lincoln: Yep, Great plan.
Willow perks up and leads them to her destination. The three get back on their feet, not noticing the spines sinking into his skin and a drop of blood from one Lincoln's fingers drop onto the goo, creating a gold puddle in the substance that slowly starts to grow.
Hexside School of Witchcraft and Demons, Bonesborough, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Before 1st Period
The three of them had arrived at the school that was more like a castle. The bell was replaced with an eyeball and its crest showing a burning cauldron with an open book with the infinity symbol in front of it.
Willow: Welcome to the Hexside School of Witchcraft and Demons.
Lincoln: (Impressed) Wow, it looks like a castle.
Willow: (laughs) Yes it is. Now remember Luz to stay hidden, okay?
Lincoln: I hope this works.
Luz, of inside Willow's abomination pot, squeals and giggles. She hears a soft chuckle in the pot, now glowing from the inside. Luz cups her mouth to keep quiet. Cut to the interior of Hexside. Willow stops at a locker, tickling it to make it open its mouth and give her her books. A shorter witch reading a magazine bumps into her as Lincoln notices people staring at him.
Lincoln: (mentally) Could it be that they see me not wearing a uniform or is it that I have the sword on my back?
He snaps out of his thoughts when he sees Willow who tickles him into opening his mouth and giving her his books. A shorter witch reading a Tween Bo$$ magazine bumps into her.
Willow: Hmm?
He is a young boy, noticeably shorter than Luz, Amity and Willow, with brown skin and dark brown hair with lighter shades. His upper lip is curved, similar to Luz's. Like all the witches and demons on the Boiling Isles, he has pointy ears. His eyes are dark blue. He wears a similar school uniform as willow, but his sleeves and leggings are light-blue.
Boy: Willow, you wouldn't believe humans.
Willow: Humans? Psh. I haven't seen any. What?
Lincoln just patted his face for that response Willow made.
Boy: (Showing him the magazine, the page showing a picture of a blonde pig-tailed girl smiling with her braces showing, called Em-BRACE Yourself!) Did you know that humans stick barbed wire into their children's teeth? But why? Maybe to make them magnetic.
Lincoln (whispers to Willow) They're actually for straightening teeth.
Luz: And to store sweets.
He looks at her confused.
Lincoln: Darn, we discovered ourselves.
Willow: Don't worry, Lincoln. He's actually the guy who can help us with your outfit. It's okay, Augustus. I am going to tell you something. But you have to be cool.
Augustus: I can be spool. (stammers) I mean, cool.
Willow: It's okay. Abomination, get up.
Luz: (She gets out of the pot, with purple splotches coated on her body disguised as them with a spot or two of gold) Ta-da! I am an abomination.
Willow: Luz, this is not how abominations act.
Augustus: (He drops the magazine) No. No, it's… (He plays with his ears while looking at Luz) It can't be.
Willow: He is the president of the Human Appreciation Society. Most witches wouldn't be able to recognize a human right away. But Augustus is an expert.
Augusto: Where are your gills?
Lincoln: We don't have gills, it's mermaids and mermen.
Luz: We know of an Augustus in the human world. We call him Gus.
Augustus / Gus: Gus? Nickname? Human nickname? Gus? Call me it. Wow. Gus. This is the best day of my life.
Lincoln: (laughs) He looks like me when I was 11.
Gus: (looks at him) By the way who you are is not seen around here and also because you don't have a uniform.
Willow: That's the second thing I wanted to tell you. We need you to create an illusion for Lincoln. Can't you make him have a uniform?
Gus: Actually, I have another extra uniform (he takes out a uniform just like Gus's but a little bigger than him) It's not my size but it will surely fit you (he hands it to Lincoln)
Lincoln: Thank you.
A bell screams, an eyeball striking the spiked maw to make it yell.
Gus: I have to go to illusion class. (Grabs his magazine and a wand) See you at lunch! By the way, I think you have to come with me too since you have the same uniform as me, so…
Lincoln: Don't worry, I understand (looks at Luz) I hope she won't get you in trouble and also teach that conceited girl a lesson. (cracking his knuckles)
Already changed into the spare school uniform, Gus guides Lincoln to the illusion room and the two enter.
Lincoln: You know, maybe it scares me a little. Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all.
Unknown: Wait, you're not one of my students.
Lincoln and Gus flinched as they listened to the Illusion Teacher who looked at Lincoln. She is a husky biped demon with periwinkle skin and purple hair, a set of horns, three orchid eyes, and a pointed tail. She wears a large shawl-baret that covers her entire head as well as a dark gray dress with white slippers.
Illusion Teacher: I haven't seen you around here.
Lincoln: Eh it's because (he was nervous like Gus) Because… I am an exchange student. Yes, an exchange student and it's my first day (smiles nervously)
Illusion Teacher: (looks at him) Are you from Glandus?
Lincoln: Yes, I'm from Glandus.
Illusion Teacher: Why do you carry a sword? (Points to the sheathed sword that was on his back)
Lincoln: Oh I'm... Well it's that... it's an illusion that I did.
Illusion Teacher: An Illusion?... It looks so real. I think you'll do well here.
Lincoln and Gus sighed from the barrage. Lincoln sits in a chair.
Unknown: Hey.
Lincoln turns and walks over to two teens who appear to be 16 years old with pale skin, pointed ears, golden eyes, thick black eyebrows, the former having short, emerald-green hair, and a mole under his right eye with the latter having a mole under her left eye, and long, emerald green hair that is tied in a braided ponytail. Their facial features were identical, making the Azarathian conclude that they were twins much like Lana and Lola. The boy's hair was short and the girl's was long and tied in a ponytail and she wore gold earrings.
Girl: Nice sword will make you look tough.
Lincoln: It's not a real sword, it's….
Boy: (grins) Save the acting, You may have fooled the teacher, but not us.
Girl: But don't worry, we like you so we won't tell the teacher.
Lincoln: Thank you. I'm Lincoln by the way and you are?
Emira: I'm Emira and this is my twin brother Edric.
Front Yard, The Owl House, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
King is giving the baby trash slug a brown bone shaped doggie treat from an orange box labeled "BONE" with a cross-eyed chihuahua poking out above a blue line with a yellow disc in its left foreleg.
King: Ouch. Who's a good Prince, Jr.? Who's a good guy?
Eda: (In an lounge chair drinking from a cup of coffee labeled #1 Bad Girl) Hey, Mr. Wiggles. You're not going to teach him anything by doing that.
King: It's called positive reinforcement, Eda. And it works great.
Prince Jr. eats the candy that King was hanging in front of her and doubles in size.
King: Ha ha! Watch? Now look at this. Prince Jr.! Attack Eda! Knock over her drink! Mess up her hair!
Eda: (deadpans, acting in terror) Oh no. Please stop.
King: Well, I haven't seen your students in a long time. As far as we know, they're not even loyal to you anymore.
Eda: Ha ha ha, you wish. But yeah. Where are these two?
Abomination 101, Hexside School of Witchcraft and Demons, Bonesborough, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
In the abomination classroom, students of the track are presenting their abominations to their teacher Professor Hermonculus. He is a stubby and short humanoid creature with pointed ears, a round beak-like mouth with two fangs on the top row of his teeth, and two claws on each foot. He has green, chin-length hair with a large bald spot on the top of his head. He has inward-facing green eyebrows and a small green beard. He wears orange tinted circular glasses with no temples and narrow, slanted eyes. He has defined cheekbones as well.
As for his outfit, Professor Hermonculus wears a black shirt and pants with an oversized purple coat with a red lining. He wears a light silver bow tie around his neck. He is carried by a mauve-colored abomination with a sad and drooping face and peach eyes.
Spiked head Student: Hope I pass.
Ram Horn Student: I'm confident about this.
The female student stands at the front of the room with an abomination with eight feet sticking out in several places.
Professor Hermonculus: Hmm. Too many toenails in unexpected places. Fail. Pathetic!
The abomination and the student deflate. She wheels her abomination off the platform at the front of the room.
Professor Hermonculus: The greatest abominations are all of you! If the next abomination is a flop, everyone will have extra homework for a month!
The students all start grumbling.
Male student: Extra homework? Not again!
Professor Hermonculus: (clears throat) And the next one to appear is...
Amity: Excuse me, sir, but I am ready to present my abomination. Rise!
It rises up from the pot, groaning, and poses; its right foot and left arm in the air and the right arm spread out.
Professor Hermonculus: (laughs) I've always saved the best for last, Amity. You will have to wait your turn. How about...Willow?
Spiked Head Student: Not Half-a-Witch.
Ram Horn Student: Great. Homework for a month.
Luz: (peeks into the pot) Don't listen to them, Willow. We can do this.
Willow gives him a small smile and nods. She pushes her pot to the front of the room and nervously puts it down.
Willow: Uh... Abomination, get up.
Luz: (punches the lid and jumps out like a video game sprite) Ta-da!
Everyone, especially Amity, gasps.
Willow: Abomination, bow.
Luz: (grunts) Blah!
Professor Hermonculus: Very impressive. But speak?
Luz: Uh, I may be your abomination, but you are my a-mom-ination.
Students: Aw!
Amity is gaping at this sudden comeuppance, turning to the direction of her teacher who stamped an A on Luz's forehead.
Professor Hermonculus: (laughs) "A-mom-ination!" Splendid play on words. An A!
The students applaud except for Amity who always crosses her arms and looks at him annoyed, but then she, Luz, and the students notice something off about Willow's pot and cart, as if something else is trying to get out, Her assumptions are correct as a golden chrome tendril slowly arches out of the pot and lands on the floor.
Professor Hermonculus: (surprised) Willow, did you actually make another abomination with a different color?
Willow, unsure where this came from, silently nods. From said pool rises a new entity with a luminescent golden-orange androgynous, barefoot body adorned with the black and purple plating and a node of golden light tether glowing from its back. The heads have a white chitinous plate where a face would normally be with glowing marks on the side. Wavy, cloud-like chitinous vambraces and greaves adorned with cloud patterns while curved tassets covers its thighs. It analyzes the room and bows with the proper respect.
Luz, Willow and the Professor are silent by this new life form as the bell screams, then coughs. The students leave the room, already gossiping about their classmates' work.
Professor Hermonculus: (stammers) Wh-What astonishing abominations that you have made for us. Wonderful work today, Willow. Looks like we have a new top student.
Amity, who was leaving the room, gasps and drops her books as she stops. Professor Hermonculus takes her top student badge as she reaches in vain to get it back.
Amity: (grunts and reaches for her badge) But...
Professor Hermonculus places the badge on Willow's hood.
Willow: Uh—thank you, sir.
He nods and his abomination takes him away. Willow turns to leave, but Amity is standing in front of her.
Amity: Hey.
Willow gasps.
Amity: Last time I saw you, your abomination was mush. What did you do?
Willow: I, uh, took your words of encouragement very seriously, Amity. (glances to the new one) Who knew I had such potential in me?
Amity: (furrows her eyebrows) I bet you did. I have my eyes on you, Half-a-Witch. That badge is mine. (walks backwards, not breaking eye contact with Willow even as she bumps into another smaller student with blue skin, pointed hat and and orange sleeves and leggings)
Student: Hey!
Willow: (After Amity turns a corner) Uh oh. I think Amity is onto us.
Living Room, The Owl House, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Midday
Back in the Owl House to the front door of the Owl House, which Eda slams open, faceplanting Hooty.
Hooty: Ow!
Eda: Have you seen Luz and Lincoln?
Hooty: I heard their tiny mouse feet walking nearby. Or it could have been some mice. Anyway, someone started moving in that direction. (Slightly gesturing with his head) Hoo, hoo-hoo, hoo.
Eda: Are you trying to point, or—?
Hooty: Look at the weather vane!
Eda: (Looks at the weather vane, pointing to the east) But the only thing that way is... (Gasps) No (Runs out) No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no!
She reaches Hexside and looks through several windows. The first is a kindergarten classroom with a spider-like person with khaki sleeves and leggings teaching children of various head shapes and skin colors, all with black sleeves and leggings.
Teacher 1: Okay, everyone. Recite your runes.
Kids: Krom, Zix, Elgrim, Zenomide—
Eda: No. Blind obedience.
The next classroom has several older students writing at desks while a snake-like teacher wearing a turban and mustache talks carrying a star-shaped wand.
Teacher 2: Heximal system time! Let's memorize!
Eda: No! Useless work! (holding her hands to her head)
Luz, still covered in abominable goo, is in the last classroom, writing along with the rest of the class. With the new one standing close to Luz and Willow and helping with the latter's studies, clearly showing signs of high intelligence.
Eda: No! Why! School! Wait a minute, (She cries upward before she looks back at the newcomer, who looks back at her putting a finger up to where its mouth should be) since when are abominations black and purple? The only gold thing I saw that wasn't from them was from... (gasps) Lincoln.
Cafeteria, Hexside School of Witchcraft and Demons, Bonesbourugh, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Lunchtime
In the cafeteria, where Luz, back in the pot filled with purple goo, is sitting at the end of a table with Willow as Gus and Lincoln arrive with their trays.
Lincoln: (sits down) So, how did it go?
Luz: Well Willow finally got a good grade, the Professor gave Amity's top student badge to Willow and then this guy appeared has been following us all-day (pointing to the construct, who nods in greeting saluting Lincoln)
Lincoln: So excluding our new friend, no one besides us suspects a thing. (said without mentioning certain twins)
Willow: Speaking of him, where did he come from? All abominations come from purple goo, not gold. It's as if something powerful was added into the mix at the last minute.
Luz (nods) I noticed the slime in the pot was glowing while I was in there, along with hearing a soft chuckling.
Gus: (pauses) Hey. Do humans eat PBJ's?
Luz: Oh my gosh, I haven't eaten real food in so long, please give me some.
Gus breaks the PBJ in half and gives one to Luz. She puts it all in his mouth and sinks back into the pot.
Willow: I don't know, Gus. (grumbles) If Amity saw that...
Amity suddenly jumps on the table.
Amity: I saw that! Abominations don't eat! I know you're there! You can't hide from me. What are you going to? Who are you? I want answers! (He grabs Luz by the chest and shakes her violently)
Lincoln was about to draw his sword but Gus grabbed his arm, shaking his head. The constructs hand clenches and starts to raise before someone beats him to the punch.
Professor Hermonculus: Amity Blight.
Amity: (stops shaking Luz) Huh?
Professor Hermonculus: I suspected a twinge of jealousy, but this, this is just sad.
Amity: But I—No! Look.
Luz groans as her head falls back, continuing the charade. The construct however does a series of motions with his hands, trying to tell him something while confusing the others.
Gus: What's it doing?
Lincoln: Don't worry, I learned sign language back home. (turns to the construct) He's saying that you are telling the truth, Professor. Due to her sheltered upbringing and being the top student, she has been abusing her position as bragging rights, a form of superiority complex. When Lady Willow showed the "right stuff" earlier, she grew jealous and suspicious of me and my artificial sister.
Professor Hermonculus: Impressive, Willow. Who knew there was such a thing as a sentient abomination before? (To Amity) As for you, report to Principal Bump's office.
Amity: But—
Professor Hermonculus: Now!
Amity drops Luz and runs off. As Professor Hermonculus leaves, Luz pops back out and shares a worried look with Willow and Lincoln. The construct puts his hands on both of their shoulders. Meanwhile nearby, Emira and Edric are impressed with Lincoln for having the guts to call Amity out like that, hoping that those guts won't pour out of him in time.
Front Yard, The Owl House, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Back outside the Owl House, where King is throwing handfuls of dog treats at Prince Jr, who is now multiple times it's normal size with orange bulbs on its back.
King: Turn around! Yes! Heel!
Prince Jr. didn't order anything, concentrating only on the treats. Now towers over King.
King: Yes, yes!
Prince Jr. roars, revealing its maw. Eda returns with her arms crossed and a sour look.
King: So, did you find your runaway students? From your expression, I can tell that Luz and Lincoln left and found themselves in another place to learn. Which means I've won!
Prince Jr. roars as he catches more treats.
Eda: Yeah, great, you won.
King tosses a handful of treats to the side. Prince Jr. chases after them.
Eda: You have a giant soldier thing and I have nothing. Congratulations!
King: Oh Eda. Don't say that. At least you have this! He pulls out a crumpled cone hat with the word "shame" haphazardly written on it and laughs.
Eda: Ugh. (She snatches it and leaves)
King: (Laughing as Eda enters the shack attached to the Owl House) I'm so funny! Ah well, Prince Jr. training is complete. Go forth! Make the world tremble at your feet—or worm stubs.
Prince Jr. doesn't move.
King: Go out?
It still doesn't move.
King: Ah (Laughter) Right.
He picks up the box of dog treats and shakes it, but it's empty. Prince Jr. approaches, growling as his shadow looms over the creature.
King: Ah!
Classroom, Hexside School of Witchcraft and Demons, Bonesborough, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Afternoon
Back in Hexside in a classroom, where Luz is standing outside the pot. Lincoln, the witches and the construct have gathered together.
Luz: Wow! I'm a sweaty little abomination. But now we don't have to worry about Amity. High five!
Willow and Gus stare at her hand, then share a confused look. Gus shrugs.
Luz: (Demonstrating) Hit my hand.
Lincoln: It's a human thing. look
Luz and Lincoln high fived each other. Gus looks at them, hesitant, high fives. Then he does it several more times with increasing confidence.
Gus: Oh. Oh my. Oh man, what a rush!
The door to the living room opens, revealing Amity. She smiles and steps to the side, allowing the Principal into the room.
Principal: Good afternoon, students.
Willow: Principal Bump.
Principal Bump is an older man, presumably due to the wrinkles surrounding his upper lip, with light-beige skin. He has teal with bright yellow sclera eyes and wears a traditional academic dress consisting of a long black gown with a gold yoke, a black cape, gold trim at the sleeves and cape hem, plus a blue stole draped over his shoulders and black pointed shoes. He wears a creature-shaped hat on his head, covering half of his face, giving him the appearance of being consumed by said creature.
Luz drops, pretending to be an abomination, followed by the construct who kneels. Principal Bump approaches them. Willow, Lincoln, and Gus step back as he drops to his knees and turning their heads.
Principal Bump: Hmm. Abominations, get up.
Luz does, looking nervous. The other gets up without hesitation.
Principal Bump: Abominations, lie.
The construct drags several tables together and lays down on its back.
Luz: Uh, viral fame is a worthy pursuit. Your cat would never eat you if given the chance. Chemtrails are real—
Principal Bump: Oh no, abomination. How strange that you get the command wrong, while the other had a more creative interpretation, I mean lie down. (Points to a desk)
Luz whimpers as she goes to lie down on it.
Bump first inspects the construct, then turns his attention to Luz and back again.
Principal Bump: So realistic. (Approaches the table with Willow) When Miss Blight told me about your abominations, I had to come by, see what they're made of.
Willow: Oh, I have their lists of ingredients right here.
Principal Bump: No. We were hoping... (He pulls a pair of crooked daggers out of his sleeve, Luz and the construct's visage reflected in them) to get a closer look.
Lincoln gasps at the daggers.
Principal Bump: Willow, Amity, I'll
Willow and Amity take the offered daggers and the former smiles nervously at him. Willow approaches Luz while Amity approaches the construct and knowing that this a chance to prove Willow's lies, stabs the entity. Much to her surprise, the construct is unfazed, the dagger sinking into the entity's chest, the incision left behind repairing itself. The construct turns to Amity, a shift on its blank face indicating a smile.
Principal Bump: Astonishing, the abomination is far more evolved than compared to those made by your family, and reactively adapts to any threat presented to it. I'll need to take it to Darius for further testing later. (turns to Willow) Alright, Willow. Now it's your turn.
Willow: (Quietly) Uh, you can't just cut a human open, right?
Luz shakes her head.
Principal Bump: Willow, go ahead and make the first incision.
Gus: Wait, Principal Bump! Uh, high five!
Gus knocks over three abomination pots. The goo spills together, and the formed abominations stand. Lincoln sees the angle and not going to allow it, he pulls out Caliburn and launches a fire ball at the abominations from above causing everyone to turn around, setting the constructs ablaze. Taking advantage of the fact that he was distracted, Lincoln grabbed Willow and Luz and ran out of the place quickly followed by the other construct.
Gus: Run!
Amity: They're getting away!
Principal Bump: (puts out the fire) No, the intruders won't get very far.
He walks up to a wall and casts a large spell circle, then hits the wall in the center. Red light forms patterns on the walls and floor, spreading out from the spell circle. A new growl is heard as they see the abominations taking on a new combined form, gathering the pot fragments together as a hide and forming a being of pure flame, roaring at Principal Bump and Amity.
Meanwhile, Lincoln, Willow, Luz and the construct run down the halls, both panting when they stop at a corner.
Luz: This is all my fault, Willow. I just wanted to see what a real magic school was like.
Willow: Well, do you like it?
Luz: It's lovely, actually.
Lincoln: It's great to be in a place like this, but I prefer a more accommodating setting than this.
The trio giggles.
Willow: Okay, we should get out of here before—
Red light patterns converge on the walls. When they reach a door, a red shield blocks it. Several more doors are blocked, the patterns taking over the school ,the faint smell of smoke coming from the room came out.
Willow: ...Bump seals us in.
The construct takes center stage walking forward, a golden magic manifests in his hands before clapping them together. A burst of energy emanates from it and spreads out across the school, shattering the patterns and unlocking the doors. They stare in silence before it turns to them.
Construct: What exactly are you waiting for, an invitation? School's out. Let's get out of here.
It runs toward the exit, soon followed by the trio.
Shack, The Owl House, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
Back at the Owl House, inside the shack, Eda is currently sulking with the shame hat on her head.
Eda: (Sighs) I failed again. I failed with Draven, wilth miwa and now with Aiden.
Eda looks up at King's voice.
King: Help me, help me, help me!
He runs in and slams the door, then throws himself into Eda's arms, whimpering. The door shudders under Prince Jr.'s attacks.
Eda: (Smirking) Problems with your student?
King: Yes, yes!
The banging on the door continues.
Eda: Are you sure you need my help? Maybe he just wants more of your brilliant lessons.
The door shatters as Prince Jr. bursts in and roars. He grabs King by the tail and drags him out of Eda's arms.
King: (Squeals) Please help me! You can call me Mr. Wiggles!
Eda stands up, removes the shame hat, and grabs her staff. She smacks Prince Jr. in the face with the butt of his cane, which frees King. Prince Jr. retreats as King holds on to Eda's leg. King groans.
Eda: It's okay, Mr. Wiggles. Here's what we are going to do.
Central Atrium, Hexside School of Witchcraft and Demons, Bonesborough, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
10th Period
Back to Hexside, Willow, Lincoln, Luz and the construct make it to the central atrium, but the doors are still being sealed. Shadows fall on them. They turn and gasp. Bump is there, his attire burned and charred who was carrying a now crumbling shard of rock, directing abominations at them. They run a bit and hide behind a pillar.
Willow: Oh, this is horrible. (Sinks to the ground) I don't know what to do. Amity is right. I'm just Half-a-Witch Willow.
Luz: You're Complete Witch-Willow. And you are great. And someone once told me that great witches are clever.
Lincoln: She's right. Willow, no one is good at doing everything. There are things even Amity can't do, but there are things only you're good at.
Willow: And what is it?
Lincoln: You're good with plant spells.
Luz takes the contents out of their pockets, carrying the slime ball, a green bandaid with a smiley face, a quarter, a piece of gum, a piece of string and a marble.
Willow: That's it! (Takes the slime ball)
Luz: You mean this greasy slime ball?
Willow: Luz, it's a seed! Thank goodness you had it on you.
Lincoln: Seriously? Wow, she was right about something.
Willow: (She puts the seed in her lap and casts a spell circle over it) Please grow!
Spiny vines grow from the seed, reaching to the roof. They stab through abominations and eventually target Principal Bump, sending him up to the roof and pinning him there. Principal Bump gasps. Vines now cover the entire atrium, coiling around the pillars and stretching from the lowest floor to the absolute ceiling. Rose petals fall from above and several of the vines have flowers.
Principal Bump: Remarkable.
The lights sealing off the hallways fade.
Luz: There's the exit!
Willow puts the seed in the ground and follows Luz and Lincoln to the exit.
Amity: (Blocking the way, her hair disheveled, her uniform just as charred as Bump's and a vine hanging around her neck) Not so fast!
All three gasp.
Amity: I'm not going to let you get away so easily. I want my badge! Abominations, seize!
Four abominations come after them. The first three grab the first construct and try to pin it down, but then Amity notices something overtaking them, infecting them. When the transformation is done, they appear to be lesser variants of the original, turning against their maker, the original construct draws the dagger Amity stabbed it with from his palm, studying before turning it into a spear, slamming its tip into the ground. And then they spoke as one, as if controlled by an outside entity.
Constructs: (monotone) YOU WILL NOT HARM THE PROGENITOR, PRIDEFUL SINNER. OPERATION: BLOOMING BREAKOUT.
The greater construct sicking the other three, who form a rapier, three-bladed claws and a longbow respectively. Lincoln grabs Caliburn and cuts off the head of the fourth abomination, causing it to melt into its base state and turns to Amity, with an angered glare in his eyes.
Lincoln: She wants that star so badly? Well, I will make her see more than her fair share of stars!
Lincoln fires a lightning blast at Amity, electrocuting her and causing her to fall to the ground in a daze. And together with Luz and Willow they run until they reach the exit, but another abomination forms in front of them. Willow yells.
Luz: Whoa!
The abomination staggers forward. Willow casts a large spell circle, causing vines to trap the abomination.
Willow: Get outta here!
Luz: No! We're not leaving you.
Willow: (her eyes glow green) I may get detention, but you'll both get dissected.
The abominations from before melt through the vines, reforming and staggering towards the trio. The first construct turns to Lincoln, sentience returning to its voice.
Construct: (normal voice) Go, Father. This is one many purposes your pe
Willow: So go!
She waves a hand, summoning two vines to lead Luz and Lincoln over the abomination and out the door. The door slams shut after the vines are removed.
Luz: Willow!
Lincoln: (puts his hand on Luz's shoulder) We can't save her right now, the white abominations will buy her some time. We have to look for Eda.
The two run off as a still bound Principal Bump sees them through a window, something about the boy feeling strangely familiar from his earlier years, but his potential far greater than the person he recalls.
Front Yard, The Owl House, Boiling Isles, Demon Realm
After School
With Eda who was fighting Prince Jr. in the front yard. He spits lava at her, which she easily dodges. She hits him in the face with her staff, twice. It backs her toward the front door. Meanwhile, King is pushing a barrel on the roof.
Eda: Pour the salt, now!
King: Baby boy!
Prince Jr. looks at King, whimpering like a child to its disappointed father. Then roars, revealing its bestial maw.
King: I have no son. Eat salt!
He shoves the entire barrel full of salt into Prince Jr.'s mouth. It shivers and makes noises of protest, before shrinking back to his original size. It whimpers as it runs off.
King: (Dances) Yes I did! I am amazing! Ahh!
Eda catches him as he falls from the roof.
King: (chuckles) You helped too. You are a good teacher.
Eda: I wish Luz or Lincoln thought that too.
Luz: (Running towards them) Eda!
Eda: Hey, hey, hey, hey! What is this? (Luz hugs her and King) Ugh! I never understand when you do this.
Luz: Your lesson worked! Having junk in my pocket saved my life!
Eda: What?
Lincoln: (reaches them too) It's a long story. But our new friends. They're in danger.
Willow: Luz! Lincoln!
Willow and Gus, accompanied by the four constructs with some new members and they hug Luz and Lincoln, who happily hug Luz back.
Eda: Seriously, what is that? (points to the constructs) And who are they?!
Willow: You won't believe it, guys. Everything is perfect now!
Luz: It's true. I don't believe it.
Willow: Principal Bump was so impressed with my work with plants that he switched me to the magical plant track! Look!
She steps back and snaps her fingers. With a flash of green magic and a twist, her sleeves and leggings turn from magenta to green.
Luz: (Hugs Willow again) Yes!
Willow giggles.
Lincoln: Congratulations, Willow! But what about Amity?
Gus: Last we saw, she was asking Bump if today could count as extra credit. And also now she hates you for having stunned her.
Luz: Well, I can't wait to see you in action next time we sneak in. (Behind her, Willow winces)
Lincoln: (looks at them) Ehhh, something's wrong, isn't it?
Gus: Oh, about that. You're kinda sorta... banned.
He pulls out and unfolds two signs that say "BANNED" with a picture of Luz covered in gooey abomination below and another of Lincoln with his sword, a sense of ferocity in his eyes with the constructs behind in defensive stances.
Eda: That's my kids!
Willow: But we can come here and teach you what we learned.
Luz: Ouch. That would be fine. But... we already have a great teacher.
Eda: Yes, that's right. They're both my students. (Steals the posters) Back off, you idiots from the academy.
All laughing
Eda: Ah, baby's first wanted poster. Good job, kids. (pats the top of Luz's and Lincoln's head) Looks like I taught you something after all.
Gus: Uh, high five with your hands, not your head.
Confused on what she heard, ending this chapter of the story
