Let's Be Friends

Chapter 3

Disclaimer: I own nothing.

It was a late foggy night in South City. After finishing up her training on the island, Zangya was walking back to her apartment. Much to the Hera's suspicions, the streets were completely empty. Despite the fog complicating her vision, she was sure there was no one around. She stopped in her tracks and turned in every direction with her senses being spread out. "What is going on…?" she whispered to herself. The streets were empty, the buildings were empty, and the… city was empty. "Something is wrong…" Zangya began walking at a faster-than-normal speed.

After approximately ten minutes, she was just barely able to see the silhouette of her building. In that moment her peripheral vision caught a blue glow to her left. It was so small at first but slowly continued to grow. Zangya glanced around looking for something that would maybe help her decipher what was going on. Not seeing anything, she turned back around to face the glow. It was so distant that she could barely see it. She squinted her eyes together hoping to get a better view. At that moment, they widened in shock as the blue glow suddenly started growing rapidly. In mere seconds, Zangya realized that it was an energy blast heading right toward her. Fortunately, she was just barely able to avoid the blast from killing her. "Who is there…?!" she yelled.

Moments later, she heard a faint chuckle but could not figure out where it was coming from. "Show yourself!"

"So… you have been hiding in South City this whole time?"

Zangya turned in every direction searching for where the voice was coming from, but the heavy fog prevented her from seeing further in the distance. A slight shiver traveled down her spine when recalling the last time she witnessed that same blue blast. "He couldn't have found me!" she desperately thought. "I was careful." She continued to search for him ready to attack. "Where are you?"

"Behind you," responded that familiar voice.

She quickly turned around but immediately got the wind knocked out of her by a fist to the gut. She clenched her core and fell to her knees. After finally being able to catch her breath, the Hera looked up and at that moment her face went pale. Standing in front of her, was the same teen from Battle Island. The same one that killed Bujin, Bido, and Bojack. "What… what do you want?"

Gohan kneeled to her level and smirked, "Simple. To finish what I started months ago."

In the hopes of catching him by surprise, Zangya tightened her fist and swung in his direction. To her frustration, he phased out of view leaving her to wonder where he went. She stood up and got into a fighting stance, "You are delusional if you think I am just going to let you kill me without a fight." For the first time since the tournament, she was going to power up to her max strength. She confidently smirked, "I am far stronger than what I was months ago," and with that said, she let out a roar as her power started building up.

Her eyes widened and her body contorted. She was far weaker than she ever would have thought. It was nothing compared to the demi-saiyan's power. "This cannot be all of it…"

"Is someone a little disappointed?" mocked the teen as he remained hidden in the fog.

Zangya's heart started racing. He already said he wanted to kill her and she was practically blind and powerless to prevent it. Not like this!" she mentally screamed. "I am not ready to die." All this time training and she does not even come close to the power needed to defend her life.

"Look at you…" began Gohan as he slowly stepped into view. "All this time living a peaceful life with no consequences to what you and your group did. They paid the ultimate price, and now you pay it as well." He slowly raised his arm as the fog finally began to clear up.

Zangya's heart began to race when she realized that she was not in South City anymore. Instead, she was somewhere dark and mysterious… a wasteland where she struggled to even breathe. "Where am I?"

"Your new home," responded Gohan. "This is where people like you belong… to wonder this Hell alone for all of eternity!"

The Hera did not want to believe what was happening. She wanted to run away and get as far as possible from him, but she was completely immobile. Her heart was banging against her chest as she witnessed Gohan get into that same position he got in during the tournament.

"Kame…hame…"

Zangya's mind screamed for her to run, but the body was unresponsive.

"HAAA!" A blast of blue ki fired from his palms and headed toward the Hera.

She stood defenseless as she watched the blast get closer and closer. "No… no…"

"NOOO!" screamed Zangya as she violently sat up from her bed. Panting, she turned to her side and saw the time on the alarm clock. Three-twenty a.m. She turned to her left and then to her right hoping that she was still in her bedroom and not in that place. Feeling the cold sweat on her forehead, she decided it was best to grab something to help calm her nerves

As she was preparing a cup of valerian tea, she gradually looked at herself in the mirror.

"All this time living a peaceful life with no consequences to what you and your group did. They paid the ultimate price, and now you pay it as well."

That same sentence replayed over and over in her head. "It was just a nightmare…" she told herself. As she was studying herself in the mirror, she suddenly saw images of the other four Hera's laughing… at her.

"What's wrong, little girl?" mocked Bojack. "Do not want to join your family here?"

"We are all waiting for you," added Bujin.

In anger, Zangya punched the mirror with her bare fist and shattering it into several pieces cutting her hand in the process. With the shards that remained intact, she was still able to see the four of them mocking her.

"Didn't like what you hear?" asked Bido with a smirk.

"You always were the weakest one of us," teased Kogu. "Trust me, I would know."

Not wanting to listen any further, she grabbed the mirror from the wall and slammed it to the floor. She just could not stand hearing them any longer.

Never had she considered the possibility that she may not be as strong as she thought. For several months she had been training to her limits without powering up. She just assumed that the moment she went all out, she would be far more powerful than even the boy himself. Zangya sighed before taking a sip of her tea. Just yesterday she felt determined to face anybody and now she was having second thoughts.

"No. I need to do this," she told herself. "I cannot be afraid any longer." The thought of how terrified she was in that nightmare frustrated her. So scared to even move out of the way. Cursing under her breath, she stood up and began pacing. Why was all this coming to her? Why now? Could it be that there was something telling her that she was not ready? "No no no," voiced the Hera while shaking her head. This was no time to start doubting. She wanted to do this… she needed to do this. She finished her cup of tea and headed back to bed. "No turning back now," she voiced. Despite her attempts to return to sleep, she was unable to for the entire night.
