Chapter 1:

Gallus Lost His Home

It was a bright sunny day in the west as the sun started to rise, with only a few clouds in the skies above, and following a trail for a Griffon Drive were a few Hippogriffs. One whistle tending to the Griffons, " Come on now, Yah!".

They each smiled and began to sing…

Male Griffon Chorus: Out in the land where Griffons are tough as cactus.

Out in the land where the wild, wild west was won.

Not far from the Griffon Drive, a gray rabbit with a red bandana around his neck pulled himself out of his hole. He was just woken up and yawned as he stretched. He was ready to start the day.

Male Griffon Chorus: Out in the land of the desperado.

If yer soft as an avocado,

Yee-Haw!

You're guacamole, son…

Drops of water started to fall around the rabbit as he held out his hand. He thought the weather was supposed to be nice. But when the rabbit looked up to the skies, he didn't like what he saw. Instead of sunny skies, he saw a hungry-looking coyote towering over him with its mouth drooling. The coyote snaps its jaws at the rabbit, but the rabbit was able to jump quickly out of the way and twice more before taking off. The coyote chased the rabbit towards the Griffon Drive as the Hippogriffs continued singing…

Male Griffon Chorus: Oh, Griffons, this ain't it pal.

Griffons, Griffons, Griffons On The Range!

The rabbit and coyote tried to stop when they came too close to a wagon. But only the coyote managed to get out of harm's way and the rabbit turned around on it's peg legs and tried to run, but his ears got stuck in the wheel of the wagon.

Male Griffon Chorus: Griffons, Griffons, better go git, pal.

Cause you ain't a Griffon On The Range!

The rabbit was pulled into the spinning wheel before being shot into the desert. Then the rabbit cried out in pain as he landed on a few Griffons' horns before landing in a nest. Baby owls rose up from the nest and started pecking at the rabbit's head and it caused him to cry out in pain as they kept pecking. The rabbit jumped out of the nest and ran off when suddenly the mother owl came flying in and tried to attack him.

Male Griffon Chorus: Out in the land where the weak are target practice.

Out in the land where they shoot the mild and meek.

Out where the bad are a whole lot badder.

If you're a Griffon with a nervous bladder.

Yip, Yow! Your feathers are gonna reek….

The rabbit and the owl chasing him came by a Longhorn Griffon skull and the rabbit had an idea. Ducking underneath the owl's talons, the rabbit quickly ducked underneath the skull.

When he felt the coast is clear, the rabbit lifted the skull off of himself and tossed it away. He was certain he was safe now. But unfortunately a rattlesnake has been hiding underneath the skull as well as the rabbit's head and it opened its mouth. The rabbit couldn't figure out why it was so dark out and scratched his head, confusing the snake. But when he heard the sound of its rattle, the rabbit figured it out and started running with the snake still on his head.

The Hippogriffs continued to lead the Griffon Drive through the desert as they continued singing…

Male Griffon Chorus: Cause You Ain't A Griffon On The Range!

GRIFFONS ON THE RANGE

Griffons they really up the creek.

Griffons, Griffons, Griffons On The Range.

Griffons, Griffons, Griffons On The Range.

Griffons, Griffons, Griffons On The Range.

One of the Hippogriffs looked to his right and saw a familiar face and called out "Howdy, Skybeak!".

The younger Hippogriff with light cornflower blue and bluish-gray mane and light magentaish gray coat, standing next to him snorts in impatience as Skybeak took out a wanted poster, a few nails, and a hammer. Placing the poster on the tree next to them, Skybeak started nailing the wanted poster down. It showed a big burly Griffon with a reward of big money on his head. When he finished, Skybeak put away his hammer and he and his daughter turned away in a different direction.

Gallus: "Griffons On The Range. Once upon a time, I was once a Griffon On The Range. But not anymore. This is how my story began…,".

Elsewhere, a wagon stopped by a river as his Griffons were either waiting to get a move on or were having a little snack on the road. Abner and his Griffons kneeled down to take a sip. Some of his Griffons were grazing on some grass that grew close to the river.

Gallus: "Oh, by the way, see that Griffon with Brilliant cerulean fur and a pale grayish amber chest? That's me. My name's Gallus and the two other Griffons grazing with me are my parents,".

A fly came buzzing around Gallus and his parents, but Gallus's father quickly used his tail to swat it away. Gallus and his parents took another bite of grass and Abner let out a shriek to the others.

Gallus: "I'm sorta between homes right now. I was the happiest Griffon I could have ever been and I had everything. But all that changed one day…,".

When Abner gave a shriek, Gallus and his parents stopped grazing and started to walk as the other Griffons followed Abner.

Gallus: "And it's all thanks to a bunch of the meanest Griffon Rustlers in the west-

Alameda Slim and His Gang.

Somehow, Slim and his gang managed to steal my entire family from under Abners' nose.

And then they just disappeared without a trace,".

On the night they came, Gallus thought he may have blacked out during the whole thing, because his senses came back when Abner came rushing in. When he looked around, Gallus saw that his family is gone. Abner came walking up and softly patted his head for he is glad that Gallus was safe. But when Gallus looked into his eyes, he knew that troubled times were coming their way.

Gallus: "After that, poor old Abner knew he couldn't afford to keep the place, or me for that matter.

Abner took care of me as I grew older and he knew it was time for me to leave.

Well, no matter how bad things get…

There's probably somebody who's worse off,".

As Gallus and Abner make their way through the wild west to Gallus's new home, the rabbit with a rattlesnake still on his head appeared next to Gallus. Gallus watched as the rabbit screamed and ran with the snake before he ran into a cactus. The impact was enough to knock the snake off but left the rabbit stuck.

Gallus: "Like that rabbit for instance,".

Gallus looked at the rabbit with a questioned look before Abner called out to him and said, " Hey, Gallus!".

Gallus looked ahead as Abner said, " Take a look at your new home,".

Gallus face lit up when he saw it. He became more excited as they came closer.

Gallus: "Hey! A Griffon Sanctuary?

Now we're talkin'!".

Gallus and Abner continued walking towards the sanctuary. The sanctuary is known as Sweet Griffon Apple Acres. One of the happiest places in the West…maybe the world.
