Chapter 6:

Silverstream's Daydream

In her mind, Silverstream, as an adult Hippogriff, was fantasizing about what she would do if she were met up by a gang of desperadoes. Glancing to the right, she didn't see anything. But when she turned to the left, Silverstream saw an outlaw griffon walking up to her. The outlaw stopped when Silverstream noticed she is surrounded on all sides by a gang of outlaws. They stood with their talons itching for them to attack.

With a smirk, Silverstream looks between them and said, "So you think you got the drop of me, huh?".

Turning her rein into a lasso, Silverstream then said as the bandits took a step forward, "Well, think again!".

Silverstream lashed out with her lasso and it swatted at the talons out of the desperado's hands. She repeated the action two more times and the outlaws clutched their hands. Then in one fell swoop, Silverstream knocked the remaining talons out of the bandit's hands. Quickly raising her back feet, Silverstream donkey-kicked them in the face. Then with a jump when they came to her, Silverstream was able to knock them all down.

One of the bandits quickly got up and whipped out some metal talons. Silverstream acted quickly and wrapped her lasso around the bandit's hand and made him drop his talons. Then with a tug, Silverstream pulled the bandit towards her. The bandit looked worried as he flew towards the Hippogriff and Silverstream raised her front foot and bashed it against the bandit's face. The bandit spat out some of his teeth before falling unconscious.

Silverstream started making poses as she said, "Jump Back! Kiss Myself!".

The Hippogriff started kissing her biceps while a voice said, "Silverstream. Earth to Silverstream?".

Silverstream snapped out of it when her younger brother, Terramar, a white Hippogriff with a cyan mane with pale turquoise streaks, and cyan eyes, shouted, "Silverstream!".

Terramar whistles to get his older sister's attention.

"It's your move, Silverstream," He said gesturing to the ground.

Silverstream calmed down and stands on all four feet while looking down at the game of tic-tac-toe. They were at a stalemate of two from each side, a hoofprint from Terramar and a bigger hoofprint from Silverstream. Silverstream looked to her parents as Skybeak and his wife Ocean Flow, a light olive female Hippogriff with light purple eyes, and a light orchid mane with moderate magenta streaks, were asleep. It was just another boring day in her town. And nothing exciting ever happened.

"Great. Just great," Silverstream said as she hangs her head down and glumly snorted.

Then with another snort, Silverstream put her hoof down again.

"You were daydreaming again. You almost threw a shoe," Terramar informed as he shook his head.

"Oh, sorry, Terramar," Silverstream apologized.

"It's just - seems like all the big grown-up Hippogriffs are out there fighting bad guys and taking names!" Silverstream said, telling her brother what was troubling her.

She then made some Kung-Fu noises as she whipped her rein around one of the posts. But when Silverstream pulled, all she accomplished was a painful headache when she crashed against it.

"Who put this here?" Silverstream groaned.

"Come on, Silverstream. This may not be Dodge City but we get our share of excitement," Terramar said.

"Hey, Skybeak! Been waiting a long time to give you this," a deep voice called out.

Skybeak and Ocean Flow woke up from their nap. They both looked to see a little tanned Griffon with big eyes holding up a message as he said, "Telegram!".

"Howdy, Morse. Whatcha' got there for us?" Skybeak asked as he greets the messenger with a smile.

Morse cleared his throat and started to read the Telegram, "Hmmm. Got Evil Eye Joe. Stop. Bringing him today. Stop. Have money ready. Stop. Signed, Rico,".

Silverstream gasped in excitement at the name while Terramar rolled his eyes, knowing where this is going. Skybeak started laughing as he and Ocean Flow were impressed.

"Well, how about that?" Ocean Flow said with a smile.

"Got another already. Man, Rico's doing a great job. Might want to think about giving him the key to the safe," Skybeak said joking as he heads to the door.

Silverstream squealed and said, "Did hear that, Terramar? Rico's Comin',".

"I don't know, Silverstream. Rico has caught an outlaw in just a few seconds. Doesn't that sound a little bit suspicious to you?" Terramar asked, feeling suspicious about the situation. He didn't know why, but something felt off to him about Rico.

"But, Terramar, think about it. Wouldn't that be the life?" Silverstream asked as she started to fantasize about it. Rico was the best example of a hero to her.

"Partnered with Rico, cleanin' up the west. Kickin' Bad Guy Behind!" Silverstream said, making it sound like a dream as she moved her feet around the ground and kicked up a dust cloud.

Terramar looked down with shock and confusion to see that Silverstream had ruined their game with her daydreaming. Silverstream was still fantasizing about it as she shouted while making Kung-Fu noises, "Watch Out, Sucker!".

Terramar swatted the ground with his tail before laying down on his belly and propping his head with a hand. He knows that he won't hear the end of Rico's greatness anytime soon.
