Chapter 9:
Gallus's Old Home
A few hours later towards sunset, Gallus, Smolder, and Ocellus were still tied to the wagon. Along the way, Ocellus was getting bored and kept on asking the same question.
"Are we there yet?" Ocellus asked. Hey she's young, it's easy to get bored.
"Not yet, Ocellus. We'll get there when we get there," Gallus said, feeling kinda annoyed by Ocellus asking the same question.
"Say how about we play 'I Spy'?" Smolder said, coming up with an idea to end Ocellus's " Are We There Yet?" questions.
"Okay, I'll go first. I spy with my little eyes something that is…," Ocellus said as she was about to describe what she spied.
But then they heard a noise that sounded like hammering and along came a voice that said, "Sold!". It caught the Young 3's attention as they turned to see something happening on a nearby hill.
"Hey, what's that?" Ocellus asked.
"It's a Sanctuary Auction, Ocellus," Gallus said as they watch the auction going on. But he was hoping that she wouldn't ask anymore on the subject.
At the auction, three adult Griffons were standing around as the Auctioneer was calling out to the bidders and two more adult Griffons were carrying a couch right out of a house.
Ocellus and Smolder watched as Gallus looked away, recognizing the place and feeling sad that another Sanctuary was being auctioned.
Suddenly they walked past a shed which is filled with pictures and awards.
"Hey, Gallus. If this place is going into the auction, what's gonna happened to the Griffon that lives there?" Ocellus asked, looking at the shed with worry. She hated to think about what would happen if someone lost their home.
"Don't worry, he'll be okay," Gallus said, still looking all sad and heartbroken.
"Wait, Gallus, how do you know that Griffon's gonna be okay?" Smolder asked, being confused.
"Because you're looking at him," Gallus replied, revealing himself to be that Griffon.
Smolder and Ocellus looked at Gallus with shock, for it has suddenly become clear to them. This was Gallus's old home and it's being auctioned.
"This was your home, Gallus?" Ocellus asked.
"Yeah, and like you guys, I had a family too. I had my mom and dad and everybody. Until…," Gallus said, telling them about his life until he stopped and let out a sad sigh for the day he lost everything came back.
"What happened to your family, Gallus?" Smolder asked, wondering what could drive Gallus to live in Sweet Griffon Apple Acres.
"Alameda Slim happened," Gallus replied, shaking his head sadly as he remembered.
Then the flashback started with evil laughter and four Griffons looking scared. Slim with his Bison-like Griffon assistant Junior jumped in as a scream was heard. Griffons were sleeping and Slim placed his arms around four Griffons. Then a fence with barbed wires was shown, and a hypnotized Griffon walked as Gallus's Old Home was finally deserted.
"He took everything away from me from right under my nose and before I knew it, I was all alone and I never saw my family again," Gallus said, narrating as the flashback played.
Back in the present, the Young 3 heard the Auctioneer said, "And sold! The property is hereby sold to Mr. Y'odel,".
Mr. Y'odel, a Griffon wearing a blue business suit and some spectacles, came and placed a suitcase filled with money on the stand and said, "Pleasure doing business with you,".
The Young 3 continued walking as Ocellus and Smolder looked at Gallus feeling bad that he lost his old home.
Mr. Y'odel then placed a sign that reads "Property Of Mr. Y'odel".
