Part XIII 'A Love Story of Sex and Blood'

Chapter 43

Becoming a college graduate was Bella's most significant achievement thus far. As she walked across the stage, her heart swelled with pride as she saw Garrett and her family cheering her on. She knew she had reached the end of a long road, and she was ready to begin a new journey with Garrett by her side. While they hadn't discussed their next steps in detail, she hoped that they could take some time to travel before she settled down into a career.

Although Garrett had traveled extensively throughout his long life, Bella had barely seen any of the world. She hoped that he would take her to see where he was born and share more about his life when he was human. After that, she would love to explore more of Europe, as she didn't get a chance to see much more then France and Italy during her previous visit. They also needed to return to Forks for her dad's wedding, which still seemed surreal to her. She could hardly believe that he was getting married.

"Congratulations, Bella! We are all so proud of you," Carlisle exclaimed while Bella hugged Garrett after receiving her degree.

"Thank you, Carlisle. I couldn't have made it this far without your and everyone's support," Bella replied, hugging each member of the Cullen family in turn.

Esme then chimed in, "So, Bella, what's next for you?"

Bella paused for a moment, considering her options. "Well, I have some ideas, but I want to talk them over with Garrett first before we decide on anything," she said, as she went back to hugging Garrett again.

"Of course, dear," Esme replied with a smile. "We just want to make sure you have everything you need."

"Thank you, Esme. I really appreciate that," Bella said, feeling the warmth and love from her family.

After having a long conversation about their future plans, Bella and Garrett decided to see more of the world and purchased tickets to Boston for later that month. However, before their departure, Bella wished to spend some time with the Cullens.

As Bella and Esme worked together, tending to the lush garden that surrounded the house, their conversation flowed with ease. Bella was always curious about the Cullen's past and loved hearing stories about their previous lives.

"Garrett and I are headed to Boston next. Have you and Carlisle ever lived there?" Bella asked, her eyes bright with interest.

Esme smiled fondly at the memories that flooded her mind. "Oh yes, we have. I've always loved Boston. The last time we lived in the area was in the mid-50s. We still have the house in Sudbury," she replied, her voice filled with nostalgia.

Bella's interest in the Cullen's past was piqued even further, and she couldn't resist asking Esme another question. "Was everyone different then or similar to how they are now?" she inquired, her eyes scanning Esme's face for any hint of an answer.

Esme paused for a moment, as if trying to recall a distant memory. "Oh, let's see," she began, "Carlisle and I were pretty similar. He was a doctor then as well, but had a private practice at that time. And as for me, well, women's rights were not as they are today, so I would have had to be called a homemaker, but I still did design work on our homes like I do now," she explained.

Bella was glad Esme was able to do some of her passions, even in the face of societal limitations. "I'm happy to hear that, Esme. You've always been so talented and capable."

Esme smiled gratefully at Bella's words, before continuing with her recollection. "Edward, I think, was more relaxed at that time. I think people's thoughts now upset him more than they did in the past," she revealed, her brow furrowing slightly as she thought back.

Bella's mind immediately jumped to the thought of Edward and the challenges he faced as a mind reader. "You know, Esme, I'm always working on my shield. I'm hoping someday I can help Edward block out people's thoughts permanently, if that is ever what he wishes. My mental shield seems to be the strongest out of everything, and I have a good feeling one day I will be able to do so much more with it," she said, determination shining in her eyes.

Esme's eyes widened with surprise and pride. "I'm glad you want to help him, Bella. I know you and he were too different to work out, but I'm glad everyone can still be a family," she said, her voice filled with warmth and affection for both Bella and Edward.

Bella's curiosity continued to get the best of her, as she couldn't help but wonder about the Cullens' past experiences with technology. "So, what was Emmett like with no video games and only three TV stations? Did you even have a TV back then?" she inquired, her eyes lighting up with intrigue.

Esme chuckled softly, clearly amused by Bella's line of questioning. "Oh, yes. Both Emmett and Edward wanted a TV as soon as they were invented," she revealed, "I can't say much for the programming in the beginning, but it was such a new thing compared to listening on the radio."

Bella nodded, taking in Esme's words with great interest. "And what was Emmett like back then?" she prodded, hoping to gain some insight into the playful and mischievous vampire she knew and loved today.

Esme's face lit up with a fond smile as she recalled the memories of Emmett's youthful antics. "Emmett was very rambunctious in those days. He constantly got into trouble playing pranks and having a good time," she reminisced, her eyes sparkling with delight at the memory.

Bella couldn't help but chuckle at the mental image of Emmett getting into all sorts of trouble. "Believe it or not, video games have actually calmed him down a great deal," Esme added, a note of surprise in her voice at the unexpected influence of modern technology on Emmett's behavior.

"So, Jasper and Alice were with you then, right?" she asked, eager to learn more.

Esme nodded, "Yes, that was actually the house we first met them at," she revealed, "Alice was pretty much her exact self she is now - a ball of energy. We didn't know what to make of her at first. She kept doing things or answering questions in regards to things that had not happened yet. It took a lot to get used to it."

Bella chuckled at Alice's antics which seems not to have changed much. "And Jasper?" she pressed on, wanting to know more.

"At the time, Jasper was much quieter than he is now. He was not used to living with so many vampires in a peaceful setting. It took him decades to be comfortable around everyone," Esme explained, her voice taking on a somber tone. "I'm sad to admit, I was scared of Jasper at first when I saw all his scars, but I quickly learned how good of a man he is."

As the day turned into night, Bella and Esme continued to talk and garden of the past and what they were looking forward to in the future.

The next day, Bella was playing a game of chess with Jasper. Emmett had allowed her to use his Superhero set, and she was having a fun time playing using her own creations. Jasper had won the past two games, and he seemed to be thinking hundreds of moves ahead. Bella knew she would have to practice much more to beat someone like Jasper, but right now, that was not high on her priority list. Kicking his ass in a sparring match, yes. Learning to take out his rook without sacrificing her queen, not so much.

She knew she was about to lose her third game when she heard Alice call her from upstairs. Bella smiled at Jasper and turned over her king piece. "You know you were going to take it soon anyway. Good game," she said with a smile as she left to see what Alice wanted.

When Bella entered Alice's sewing room, she found Esme and Rosalie already there with Alice. Bella greeted the others and asked, "What's going on?"

Rosalie shrugged her shoulders and turned to Alice, waiting for her to explain.

Alice took a deep breath before speaking. "I need your help, guys. There's going to be a fashion designer conference in Los Angeles in a few days. I had planned to model some of my dressing gowns, but the modeling firm I hired backed out at the last minute. I was hoping that the three of you would be willing to wear my dresses for the afterparty. I think it would generate a lot of buzz for the design line I'm creating," Alice said, looking at everyone with a mixture of sadness and hope in her eyes.

"Of course, Alice," Bella said with a smile. "I'd love to help in any way I can."

Alice beamed at Bella and enveloped her in a tight hug. "Thank you, Bella. You're the best!" she exclaimed.

Rosalie chimed in, "Sounds perfect, Alice. Do you have a red dress for me? You know that's my favorite color."

Alice gave a knowing smile. "I had a feeling you'd say that, Rosalie. Of course, I have just the dress for you."

Esme spoke up with a bright smile on her face. "Count me in too, Alice. I'm excited to see your new designs."

Alice clapped her hands together, clearly thrilled. "Thank you, thank you, everyone. I'll book hotel rooms for us where the event is taking place. It'll be like a mini vacation, and I'm sure we'll all have a blast!"

Two days later, the entire Cullen family had arrived in Los Angeles. The night of the event had arrived, and all the Cullen women were gathered in Alice's suite, getting dressed and ready for the big event. Alice had given Bella a stunning green strapless dress that fit her perfectly, and Bella couldn't help but congratulate Alice on making such a beautiful piece. Meanwhile, Rosalie had already donned her red ball gown and was most certainly turning heads at the event. Esme was still in the bathroom, getting ready.

As Bella looked around the room, she noticed another dress hanging in Alice's closet. "Alice, I see there's one more dress here. Who's that for?" she asked curiously, eyeing the light blue number that would look sexy on the right person.

"I invited one more person, and if my visions are working right, she should be opening the door right about now," Alice replied with a smile.

Just then, a beautiful vampire with golden eyes and curly strawberry blonde hair walked into the room. She was tall, perhaps 5' 10", and had an elegant figure. Bella was surprised to see this unfamiliar vampire, but Alice quickly introduced her. "Bella, I'd like you to meet Tanya Denali. I know you've heard stories of our friends in Alaska, but here she is in the flesh," Alice said, going over to hug Tanya and thank her for coming.

Bella went over to greet Tanya who she had heard so much about from the Cullens and Garrett. "It's nice to meet you finally," she said, holding out her hand to shake Tanya's.

"Ah, the famous Bella Swan. I have heard some stories about you. I remember the first time I heard of you when Edward came to visit me. When I finally got the truth out of him, I was shocked that you were still alive. Not many vampires can resist their singer," Tanya said, greeting Bella warmly.

"I know what you mean," Bella replied with a smile. "I'm pretty sure I met my own singer a couple of years ago. It was tough, but I managed to resist."

"Was that Garrett I saw talking with Jasper and Emmett downstairs? I haven't seen him in a decade or so. I'll have to tell Kate. She still misses and talks about him," Tanya said, oblivious to Bella's relationship with Garrett.

"I think you must be out of the loop, Tanya. Garrett is mine," Bella said, smiling confidently. She knew she had nothing to fear from Tanya or Kate.

"Garrett and you? I thought you were with Edward? I know people call us Succubi, but do we need to add another name to the roster?" Tanya said, laughing.

"Ah, then you did not hear. Edward and I broke up years ago. Garrett and I, though, are mates, and I would advise you to let Kate know. I'm not the jealous type, but if she ever tried anything, she would regret it," Bella warned firmly. She knew that it was best to set things straight with Tanya, "Just let her know that I'm not into three ways either."

"I'll be sure to let her know. So, Edward is available? I'll have to try again. He's like my Moby Dick. I've been trying to bag him for close to a century and had no luck. I don't know what's wrong with me," Tanya said with a sigh, thinking about what she could do differently this time.

"Well, I wish you luck with Edward. I really do. I know you could teach him a lot, and he really does need a good lesson," Bella replied, hoping that Edward would realize what he was missing with Tanya.

Alice handed Tanya the dress, and she quickly put it on. As they were about to leave the room, Alice paused and turned her head towards Bella and stared at her, clearly having a vision. Finally, she smiled at her as if grateful and with a nod she left with Tanya.

Bella was about to leave for the event when she realized that Esme was still in the bathroom. She had been in there for a long time and should have been out already. Bella walked over to the door and knocked, wondering if everything was okay.

"Esme, is everything okay?" Bella asked, concern evident in her voice.

After a brief hesitation, Esme replied in a soft voice, "I'm not sure."

Without another word, Bella entered the bathroom and found Esme sitting on the toilet in a beautiful white gown. Sensing that something was bothering her, Bella sat down on the edge of the bathtub across from her.

"What's wrong, Esme?" Bella inquired gently.

"I don't think I can wear this dress, Bella," Esme replied, looking down at herself with a hint of shame.

Bella examined the dress closely. It was indeed quite revealing, with a plunging neckline that extended down to her waist. Although she had never seen Esme in such an outfit before, Bella thought she looked stunning.

"Esme, stand up with me," Bella said, holding out her hand. Esme took it and stood up next to Bella. Bella positioned Esme so they were both in front of a full-length mirror.

"You look absolutely stunning, Esme. That dress fits you perfectly and accentuates your beauty in every way possible. When you make your entrance downstairs, every man is going to be captivated by your charm and will want to introduce themselves to you. You have nothing to feel ashamed of. You are a confident and attractive young woman who deserves to be admired when she puts on a dress as gorgeous as the one you're wearing." Bella thought she should go further and hopefully truly help Esme.

"I'm going to be honest with you, Esme. I've noticed in your relationship with Carlisle that you tend to be quiet and reserved. Perhaps it's because of the time period you're from, or maybe it's just your nature, but let me give you some advice. Be assertive, take control. You have all the power you'll ever need right at your fingertips.

I want you to go downstairs and do the opposite of whatever your mind is screaming at you. I know from experience what it's like to live a life without taking risks. As a human, I was always so reserved and quiet, but I don't miss it for a second now that I'm a vampire. I feel sorry for the girl I once was, so I'm urging you to take charge of your future, just like I did. You can do it, Esme. Go down there and have the time of your life.

Then, when the night is over, go to your room with Carlisle and take control there as well. I hate to admit it, but I've overheard you two before, and I've always thought that you're too reserved in the bedroom. Be the aggressive one and take your man. Stop being a Stepford wife and become the badass vampire that I know you can be.

My advice is to tear off all his clothes as soon as you get to the room, jump on him, and ride him like there's no tomorrow. Trust me, both you and Carlisle will love it. And if you're feeling it when you orgasm, bite down on his neck hard. You won't believe how good it feels.

Esme, don't say anything. Just do it. Give me a smile and a nod, and go down to the event and own the room. I believe in you, Esme. You've got this!"

As Esme left the room, Bella felt a sense of satisfaction, hoping she had given her the confidence she needed not just for the event but for life in general.

Bella had just entered the party and it was in full swing. She surveyed the room, taking in the lively atmosphere. Emmett and Rosalie were twirling on the dance floor, clearly enjoying themselves, while Alice was deep in conversation with other designers, and Jasper was by her side. Bella's eyes then fell on Esme, who was surrounded by several men, including Carlisle, who seemed to be admiring his wife's beauty lustfully. Bella noticed a newfound confidence in Esme that she had not seen before, and it made her happy to see her friend shining. As Bella continued to scan the room, she saw Edward sitting at a table with Tanya, who was trying to engage him in conversation but Edward didn't seem as interested as he should be. Just then, Garrett came up behind Bella and wrapped his arms around her waist.

"You look beautiful in that dress, Bella. Will you dance with me?" Garrett spun her around, and they started to dance slowly.

"How's your night been, Garrett?" Bella asked, resting her head on his chest as they danced.

"It's a lot better now that you're here," Garrett replied with a smile, twirling Bella around.

"Good news. I heard from Tanya that Kate misses you. This is your chance. Are you heading to Alaska after the dance?" Bella teased, a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Garrett chuckled, "Really? Thanks for letting me know, Bella. You won't mind if I skip out now, will you? Maybe I can catch the red-eye flight."

"Maybe I'll come with you. I told Tanya that we were both really into having a menage a trois with Kate," Bella teased back with a wink.

They continued to dance and mingle as the night went on, enjoying each other's company and playful banter.

Later in the night, Bella had just finished up a conversation with a group of distributors, hyping up Alice to them as much as possible. The party was in full swing, with people talking, laughing and having a good time. Bella looked around the room and spotted Edward standing in the corner, looking lost and out of place.

Feeling bad for him, she made her way over to where he was standing.

"How has the night been for you, Edward?" Bella asked, hoping he had been having a good time, but it didn't seem to be the case.

"It's been okay," Edward replied, who had been watching her longingly through most of the night.

"I saw Tanya talking with you earlier. She seemed interested in you. Don't you like her?" Bella asked, glancing over at Tanya, who was sitting at a nearby table, watching them.

"Tanya's fine. She has very colorful thoughts, I'll put it that way," Edward said, looking uncertain about what he should do next.

Bella gazed at Edward, fully aware of what was best for him, but past attempts at changing his beliefs and ways had been fruitless. However, an idea suddenly dawned on her, and although she wasn't looking forward to it, she knew it could help Edward become truly happy. With a deep breath, she prepared herself for what she was about to do.

"Okay, Edward. I'm going to help you. You might not think this is what you need, but trust me, it is," Bella said, using her powers to create a shield around Edward's mind, blocking out any external thoughts. Once the shield was up, she opened it to allow her own memories to enter Edward's mind. She began with simple recollections of their time together when she was still human, before proceeding to more vivid recollections of their life together since she had become a vampire.

As the memories played out before Edward, he stared at Bella with awe, experiencing their relationship and his own life through her eyes.

Finally, Bella got to the happier times when she first met Garrett. She began playing their tame intimate moments. Even though she did not relish the idea of Edward seeing her private moments, she was willing to do anything to help him, and she thought this would work. Grabbing Edward's arms so that he couldn't go anywhere, she projected her most intimate moments with Garrett. Bella had a thing for watching herself and Garrett doing it in front of mirrors, so she played those memories for Edward. She recalled numerous moments of herself screaming in passion while Garrett fucked her relentlessly. She then projected her thoughts to Edward in a slow and confident manner, making it clear to him that she believed every word she said and that the experiences he saw were within his reach.

"You want to experience things like this, Edward. I know you do. Look over there, Edward. Tanya can help you. You can do all the things you just saw done to me, and trust me, you will love it. Go to Tanya, take her up to your room, and fuck her like you just saw me being fucked. Make her scream in ecstasy just like you saw me screaming. You know you want to do it. I can see the prominent bulge in your pants. Let go and have the night of your life. Now, I'm going to keep this shield on you, Edward, the whole time. You won't hear anything from anyone. Who knows? I might send you a little boost of confidence and a new position to try throughout the night. Go to Tanya now and do all the things you want. And if you want my advice, ask Tanya to help you, as I'm sure she can think of some things that even I haven't tried yet."

Bella played a few more scenes of herself cumming and shaking uncontrollably from the passion of Garrett's thrusting into her. "I think you're ready now, Edward. Go get her."

Bella watched with satisfaction as Edward rushed towards Tanya and quickly led her to the elevator. Tanya looked at Bella, who waved and gave her a thumbs up before she disappeared behind the elevator doors.

Bella walked over to Garrett and hugged him. He looked at her with curiosity, having witnessed Edward's sudden departure. "What were you doing with Edward just now?" he asked.

"Trying to help him move on and have a happy life," Bella replied with a sense of accomplishment. She had the feeling that she had succeeded, but only time would tell. "We'll find out if it worked tomorrow."

The next day, the Cullens gathered in Alice's suite. As Bella walked in, she was quickly approached by Esme, who brought her over to a corner of the room with a big smile on her face. Esme hugged Bella tightly, and Bella could feel the excitement radiating off of her.

"I take it my advice helped?" Bella chuckled.

"Oh, Bella," Esme exclaimed, "last night was amazing... and twice this morning too!"

Bella couldn't help but smile, happy that she could help Esme. "Good for you, Esme. Keep it up. It will only get better. Trust me."

Esme squeezed Bella's arm in thanks and went back to Carlisle, who was also beaming with joy. Bella looked around the room and saw that everyone was in high spirits, and it warmed her heart to see how her advice had positively impacted the family.

As Bella went over to the others, she looked around but did not see Edward or Tanya.

"He's not here, Bella," Alice said with a bright smile. "I don't know what you did, but I don't see Edward or Tanya leaving his room for several days. I never thought I would see the day." Alice said, still amazed at some of the visions she had had involving Edward this past night.

"Well, good for him. Let's hope this is the first of many changes for him." Bella was thrilled that her unorthodox actions had done the trick.

Bella walked over to Garrett and wrapped her arms around him, pulling him in for a tight hug. "Let's stay a few more days," she whispered in his ear. "I want to keep my shield up on Edward just a little while longer to make sure he has worked out all of his issues before we head back home."

Garrett raised an eyebrow. "You mean we have to stay in this luxurious hotel with nothing to do?" he teased. "How will we ever pass the time?"

Bella chuckled, playing along. "I'll go ask Jasper if he brought a travel chess set," she quipped.

The Cullens had experienced many important positive changes that weekend, thanks to Bella's helpful advice. As they gathered to congratulate Alice on her designs and thank her for the fun night, little did they know that the changes they had experienced would have a lasting impact on all their lives in the centuries to come.
