Part XIV 'The Red Headed Menace'
Chapter 48
Garrett POV
Finally, after a month of traveling through Europe, we arrived in Italy, a place that made me feel apprehensive. Bella wanted us to visit her friends in the Volturi, and "show off her man," as she put it. I had never been fond of the Volturi, a group that saw themselves as royalty. It reminded me of England and the grudge I still held. Bella seemed to like them and said only good things so I guess they could not have been that bad. As we approached the Volturi castle, Bella turned to me with a sly grin and said, "Okay now Aro has a gift to see every thought you have ever had just with a single touch. So, good luck with that." her eyes sparkling with mischief. I felt a shiver run down my spine at the thought of someone having access to my innermost thoughts. I couldn't help but wonder if I had anything to worry about, and so I asked Bella, "What do you mean? What kind of thoughts will he be able to see?"
Bella's response was not reassuring in the slightest. "Oh, anything and everything," she said with a chuckle, her playful tone doing little to calm my nerves. As we walked towards the entrance, I couldn't help but wrack my brain, trying to remember if there was anything incriminating or embarrassing that could get me into trouble.
Inside, we were greeted by a giant vampire who seemed to be good friends with Bella. "This is Felix," Bella introduced me, and we exchanged a firm handshake. We made some small talk as Felix led us to the throne room,
Meeting the three rules of the vampire world was a trip. They sat on actual thrones, but who had appointed them as kings remained a mystery to me. Aro appeared to be brimming with excitement, but there was something about the way he carried himself that made him seem unhinged. He greeted Bella warmly as she introduced me to the kings. When Aro took my hand to shake it, he got a bewildered look on his face. I did not think my life story was that unusual. Bella spoke up then "Sorry Aro, but Garrett and my naked time is for his and my eyes only." Aro laughed and said "Of course, my dear" Whew that was a lucky break, I thought. Caius seemed to have a permanent scowl on his face, and I only saw him smile once when he was talking with Bella. Marcus was very quiet but looked like he cared for Bella as well. I guess it is a good thing that Bella has friends in high places.
After our long, but admittedly interesting conversation with the kings, Bella spent the day introducing me to all the members of the Volturi. I was surprised to find that some of them were actually quite fun to be around. It was the next day, when we ran into some problems. Bella and I were in the training room, sparring with many of her friends, and having a good time. She was sitting down at the moment talking to Demetri while I was sparring with Alec, who looked a little young but was a competent fighter. I had just thrown him down on the ground and was going in for the take down, when all of a sudden I was in the greatest pain I had ever felt. I screamed out in agony and fell to my knees but then the pain vanished as quickly as it had come.
Bella POV
I was happy that I took Garrett for a quick visit to see my friends in the Volturi. Finally having a significant other after so many years, who can blame me for wanting to show him off? It was good catching up with everyone again, as I had not seen them for a year. It was fun seeing Aro's face when he learned he could not get a look into Garrett's memories. No way was I letting Aro catch a glimpse of what Garrett and I got up to in the bedroom, or every other room, for that matter. Or outside. Or underwater... basically everywhere. I wonder why everyone else was okay with that.
We were now sparring with a lot of the members of the guard. I was talking with Demetri while Garrett was sparring with Alec. All of a sudden, Garrett screamed out in pain and fell to his knees. My vision turned red with rage as I saw what was happening to my man. Instantly, I threw my mental shield out over him in protection and already knew who the culprit was. I saw Jane staring at Garrett with a look of smugness on her face. No way was that bitch getting away with this.
"Jane!" I yelled as I swiftly enclosed her in a shield and sent her hurtling towards the far wall, where she was suspended in mid-air, her body pinned against the wall at an unnatural angle.
I stormed towards Jane, my anger about to boil over. She was immobilized suspended against the wall, looking like a helpless fly caught in a spider's web. "What the hell were you thinking, Jane? Using your powers on my man like that?" I shouted, my voice echoing through the room.
But as I approached her, I saw the fear in her eyes and my rage began to dissipate. I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself. "We're all supposed to be friends here, Jane. You know that," I said, my voice still tinged with anger. "Save your zapping for your enemies, not for those you're supposed to be friends with."
I turned to Garrett, making sure he was okay. "Are you alright, honey?" I asked, my voice softer now. I hugged him tightly, relieved to feel him safe in my arms.
As we prepared to leave to go back to our room, I faced Jane one last time. "I'll let you down from the wall now, Jane, but don't ever do it again. I'm warning you," I said, my voice calm and measured, but with authority so she knew I was serious. "I let you off easy this time." I carefully lowered her to the ground and we left the training room, my thoughts already turning to making sure Garrett was completely okay.
Despite the earlier incident, we didn't let it put a damper on our night. We decided to head back to 'Spirit Run,' the vampire-run club we had visited on my previous trip. Along with Garrett came Demetri, Heidi, Felix, Corin, and Chelsea. I was also eagerly awaiting the arrival of Chelsea's new girlfriend, Brianna who I heard a lot about from Chelsea.
As the drinks flowed and the night wore on, the energy in the club was palpable. Laughter and chatter filled the air as we all let loose and enjoyed ourselves. It seemed like my actions towards Jane earlier that day were well-received by the group, who had all been on the receiving end of her torturous ways at many points in their long lives.
Soon, Brianna arrived, but she seemed preoccupied making out with Chelsea. So, I struck up a conversation with Corin, whom I had only met briefly on my first visit. She had the power to make people content, but like the others, her ability had no effect on me. We had a great time, with Corin making Felix, Demetri, and Garrett feel content and happy, and then Heidi suggesting something for them to do, usually something suggestive. Just as they were about to act on Heidi's suggestions, I shut off their powers. Luckily, the men were all in good humor.
At one point, Corin suggested that Garrett and Demetri kiss, but just as Heidi was about to agree, I interjected and suggested that Felix and Demetri kiss instead. As Felix and Demetri were about to kiss with the group chuckling, I shut off Heidi's power when their lips were only an inch apart. Startled, they jumped back from each other, and everyone laughed. When Brianna and Chelsea finally stopped sucking face, I got a chance to talk to her.
"So, from your accent, you sound like you're from America too. What's your story?" I asked Brianna. She was an attractive short vampire with long brown hair, and appeared to be around 17 or 18 when she was turned.
"Sadly, I don't know much about my human life. I lost pretty much all of my memories from the change. I was turned around 8 years ago by some deranged vampire who had a vendetta or something against someone. Luckily, I was able to escape and make it on my own as a nomad. I could barely remember what my name was," Brianna said, looking sad. Chelsea put her arms around Brianna in a comforting hug.
"We're about the same age. I was turned around 7 years ago. So, how did you and Chelsea meet?" I asked, wanting to lift Brianna's spirits.
Brianna smiled as she spoke, "We met about a month ago. I was wandering the streets of Venice, looking for my next meal when I stumbled upon this gorgeous creature. One look into her eyes and I knew I had to have her."
Chelsea chuckled, running a hand through Brianna's hair. "And I couldn't resist Bri's charms. We hit it off right away and the rest, as they say, is history."
Brianna leaned in again, her breath hot against Chelsea's ear. "We may not have had any blood that night, but we certainly feasted on each other in other ways," she whispered, her hand tracing a tantalizing pattern down Chelsea's arm.
Chelsea shivered at the touch, her eyes locking with Brianna's. "Oh, we definitely had a feast that night. And every night since," she said, a sly grin spreading across her face.
I laughed at their innuendos, and I couldn't help but feel happy for them.
As the night went on, everyone was feeling a little giddy from all the blood drinking. I decided to entertain everyone by inventing a new game, called 'musical chairs'. I placed a shield under each chair around the table and lifted them up one inch from the ground using my mind, then moved them around the table.
The other vampires were having a great time, laughing and joking as they spun around the table, narrowly avoiding colliding with each other. It took a lot of concentration, but the happiness coming from everyone was infectious, and I liked flexing my abilities in new ways. 'Musical chairs' was quite the challenge, with me deftly maneuvering everyone's chairs to keep the game going smoothly.
At one point, Felix came dangerously close to colliding with Demetri, but I quickly spun his chair in another direction, causing everyone to erupt in more laughter. The game went on for 10 minutes or so, with everyone thoroughly enjoying themselves.
After I put everyone back down, they were still giggling and smiling from the fun they had just had. "That was fantastic, Bella," Heidi said, still chuckling. "In my 500 plus years, I've never seen a power like that."
As the night wore on, the vampires were having a great time. They laughed, joked, and danced, taking sips of blood to recharge their energy. Who could turn down great-tasting blood in a glass, after all?
Suddenly, I had a question for Garrett. "Hey Garrett, are there any places like this for vampires in the US?" I asked, curious about the possibility of other vampire run clubs.
Garrett nodded. "Sure, there are several. There's one in New York City, one in Shreveport, Louisiana, and a very popular one in Las Vegas," he said, sounding like he knew all three of them very well.
My eyes widened. "Shit, I knew it!" I exclaimed. "I lived in Vegas for several months one summer and didn't see a single vamp. I knew they must have had a place to go that I didn't know about. When we get home, you're taking me. I need to know what I missed out on."
Garrett grinned at my eagerness. "Sounds great. I love Vegas," he said happily.
As the night went on, we continued to have a great time sharing stories and laughter.
The next day, Bella emerged from her room and made her way to the library, hoping to find Marcus. Garrett had joined some of the other guys to do what he called 'guy stuff', and Bella was glad he was making friends.
As Bella stepped into the vast library, she was once again struck by the sheer magnitude of knowledge the Volturi had amassed over countless centuries. The towering shelves were lined with ancient tomes, their leather covers cracked and faded with time. The air was thick with the scent of dust and parchment, and shafts of sunlight streamed through the high windows, illuminating motes of dust that danced in the air.
The artistry that adorned the library was just as impressive as the collection of book. Bella's eyes were drawn to the exquisite stained glass windows that lined the walls of the library, casting a kaleidoscope of colors across the room. The intricate designs depicted scenes from ancient mythology and history, each one a masterpiece of art and craftsmanship. She could see the skillful brushstrokes of the artists who had created them, capturing every detail with stunning precision.
As she gazed upwards, she saw a breathtaking painting on the ceiling that seemed to come to life before her very eyes. The vibrant colors and intricate brushwork made the figures seem as if they were alive and moving. She couldn't help but feel a sense of awe at the sheer talent and dedication that had gone into creating such a masterpiece.
Bella's eyes continued to roam, taking in every detail of the room. She saw the ornate carvings on the shelves, the intricate patterns etched into the woodwork, and the delicate gold leaf that adorned most of the library. She felt as though she had stepped into a world of art and beauty, where every detail was carefully crafted and meticulously planned.
As she scanned the room, her gaze settled on Marcus, who was seated on a plush sofa in a far corner, his nose buried in a large, leather-bound tome. Bella made her way over to him, eager to speak with him.
Bella approached Marcus with a polite smile, "Forgive the intrusion, Marcus," she began, "but I was hoping you might be able to assist me with something."
Marcus looked up from his tome and offered her a warm smile. "Of course, Isabella. What is it that you seek?"
"Last month Garrett and I were in London and we saw the Rosetta Stone at the British Museum," Bella said. "It got me interested in Egyptian hieroglyphics and I was wondering if your library has an actual dictionary or something of a similar nature that would allow me to learn and understand Egyptian hieroglyphics accurately?"
Marcus smiled warmly at Bella's question, pleased that she was taking an interest in the ancient knowledge. "Yes, Isabella, we do have a full translation and I even wrote a lexicon on the subject over 2500 years ago when it became apparent that the language would be lost. I have recently started the daunting challenge of digitizing the library, and that is one of the first pieces I transferred over. I would be happy to show you how to access the information on our computers."
"Thank you so much, Marcus," Bella said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "It would be an honor to learn the mysteries of a dead language. I'm sure Garrett and I would want to go to Egypt at some point, and knowing the language would be so interesting to see truly how their culture lived."
Before Marcus and Bella could go to the computer system, Aro and Caius walked into the library. Aro's jovial voice filled the room, "Good day, Isabella! How are you and Garrett finding your stay?" Caius stood stoically by Aro's side, nodding in acknowledgement towards Bella.
Bella turned to greet the leaders with a warm smile, "We're having a great time, thank you again for your hospitality, everyone."
Aro's face lit up with his usual cheerful tone, "Wonderful to hear, my dear Isabella. Have you been enjoying the sights of Italy?"
Bella nodded, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "Absolutely, last night Garrett and I, along with some of the guard, went out and had a fun time together."
"It is always a pleasure having you here with us, Isabella. I must tell you, I had an interesting encounter with Jane the other day," Aro said, a small smirk playing on his lips. "From her thoughts, lets just say she won't be bothering you or Garrett for a good long while. I saw what happened, and Jane is not used to not having the upper hand. Perhaps it will teach her a bit of humility."
Bella's eyes flickered briefly at the mention of Jane, but she maintained her composure. "I believe in using my abilities for protection, not for causing harm. But when it comes to the safety of my mate, I will not hesitate to defend him," she stated with a firmness in her voice.
Caius nodded in agreement, "Yes, as it should be. The Volturi do not condone such behavior towards our guests."
Aro's tone was curious as he asked for Bella's perspective. "Isabella, while you are here, I was hoping to hear your thoughts. As a young vampire, you must see the world quite differently from us. Are there any issues that you think are important to vampires that are not been addressed properly?"
Bella paused for a moment, considering her response carefully. "Truthfully, I have so many thoughts and ideas that it would take too long to delve into them all. But if I had to choose one that would help vampires across the world, it would be the creation of a support system for young vampires." She spoke confidently, obviously having thought about this issue before.
"Please explain what you mean, Isabella," Aro asked, intrigued to know more.
"I was fortunate to have been changed with a loving family who provided me with guidance and support during my newborn year." Bella began, "However, not all vampires are so lucky. Without proper guidance, new vampires can pose a threat not only to themselves but to the entire vampire community if they make poor decisions. It's surprising that we haven't been exposed to the world yet. But if we were to establish a system to help young vampires stabilize their lives from the beginning, it would not only benefit them but also create a more productive and harmonious vampire society. I've encountered many vampires, and while a great majority I would want as my friends, there are also those who are downright unpleasant and violent. Perhaps, if they had received help and guidance from the start, things would have turned out differently for them."
Marcus responded, "While I agree that it's a noble goal, Isabella, it would take a substantial number of vampires to establish such a system worldwide. I'm not sure if there are enough vampires who would be willing, let alone have the skills to set up and undertake a project of that magnitude."
Bella took a moment to ponder before sharing her idea, "That's true. I do have an idea related to that. Have you ever considered recruiting a specific type of human to become a vampire? I know you may have done so in the past based on physical characteristics, but what I am suggesting is different. Let's say you establish an organization run by humans to help different groups, such as housing the homeless or protecting battered women. It should have a goal similar to ours, which is to help young vampires. You could recruit fresh college graduates as there are many humans who have a deep desire to help others, and some would prove to be extremely effective. You would want to recruit them young to avoid problems that may arise if they had a significant other or children."
She continued, "After setting up the organization, not only would it help human communities, but you would eventually find recruits who would make good vampires. The tricky part is befriending them and seeing if they are open to new ideas. If everything seems right, and you believe they would agree to become a vampire to help a new community, they should be told the truth. Hopefully, after their newborn year is over, they would be the perfect vampires to run such an outreach program worldwide. This project would not be easy and would take years to set up, but I genuinely believe it would benefit vampires worldwide and have long-lasting benefits for everyone."
As Bella finished her impassioned speech, she took a deep breath and turned her gaze to the three leaders in front of her. They seemed to be lost in thought, their expressions unreadable.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Aro broke the silence with a quick touch to both Marcus and Caius's hands, silently learning their thoughts. Bella could only watch as they exchanged a few quick glances before turning their attention back to her.
"Thank you, Isabella," Aro spoke, his voice measured and thoughtful. "Your ideas are quite intriguing, and we believe they hold great merit. It's true that we have never considered such possibilities before, but we will begin the process of setting up such a system."
Aro continued, "Of course, as you mentioned, this will be a long and arduous process, perhaps taking years or even decades to come to fruition. But we agree that it is worth pursuing, for the betterment of our entire community."
Marcus chimed in, "It's true that many of our trials here in Volterra revolve around young vampires who fail to follow our laws. While we've always dealt with these matters through punishment as a deterrent, your idea of creating a support system for new vampires seems promising. Perhaps if we help them from the beginning, we can prevent a lot of the lawbreaking before it even happens. I think your idea has great potential, Isabella."
Bella expressed her pleasure at the positive response from the leaders and stated, "I'm glad that you see the potential in my idea. Once put into action, I'm interested to see how the vampire community responds. It will also be important to promote the program, and established covens could help spread the word to nomads they come across. In addition, having safe houses in different parts of the world would be beneficial for nomads as well as for vampires in general to stay in touch with one another. Fortunately, mobile phones and the internet should make communication easier nowadays, but there could still be vampires out there with no access. Houses where vampires could leave messages for people they cannot locate would be helpful. I can't imagine how challenging it must have been for all of you to find and communicate with other vampires hundreds, let alone thousands, of years ago."
"Yes, back in the day, you could go centuries without being able to talk with a friend. It has gotten much easier lately. You're certainly full of ideas, Isabella," Aro said, nodding approvingly.
Bella just nodded and smiled, knowing she could be a chatterbox when she got on a tangent.
Bella and the Kings continued their engaging conversation, and eventually, Bella's curiosity led her to ask about the Volturi's rise to power.
With a nod of approval, Caius chimed in, "Ah, now that is a bloody tale. Before I start, let me get us some refreshments." Bella watched as Caius rose from his seat and headed to what she thought was a storage area. However, she was surprised to see him open a refrigerator and a microwave.
As Caius heated up some bagged blood and returned with glasses for everyone, Bella took a sip and settled in for the tale.
Caius began, "The time was approximately 2500 years ago, when the Romanian Vampire Coven held the reins of power over vampires. Unlike us, they did not shy away from revealing their true nature. Back then, vampires openly wielded their powers and were often feared as demons, fairy tale creatures, or even gods."
Bella was stunned, "Wow, I had no idea."
Caius continued, "Yes, the times then were very different. The Romanians were very cruel in their rule and demanded total obedience from all vampires. It was a dark time for vampires in general. Aro, Marcus, and I had banded together some 500 years prior to form our coven. We realized we needed to do something to help the vampire race. The battle for leadership lasted decades, but we finally prevailed."
Caius then spoke in a somber tone, "Our victory was not without loss. Sadly, a Romanian supporter came to Volterra and assassinated Marcus's mate and Aro's sister, Didyme."
The room fell silent as everyone mourned for the loss. Bella, who was sitting next to Marcus, reached out and rubbed his knee in a silent show of support.
Aro spoke up, "That tragedy was a true wake-up call for us, and we put much more stringent measures in place to protect our queens."
Bella expressed her desire to meet the queens, "I've never met the queens, but I would like to."
Caius responded, "Yes, Sculpica and Athenodora mostly stay in the tower for protection. Thankfully, we have Corin to keep them content."
Bella expressed her sadness, saying, "You mean they don't come out of the tower. That sounds so lonely." She couldn't help but imagine how terrible it must be for the queens to have to stay locked away all the time. It was no way for a vampire to live, especially one who was supposed to be a queen. She wondered if there was anything she could do to help.
Aro noticed Bella's thoughtful expression and said, "I know it's not ideal, Isabella, but Marcus will tell you how life loses almost all meaning after he lost Didyme. Caius and I are rightfully scared as the Volturi have many enemies." He paused for a moment before asking, "I see you deep in thought, Isabella. What are you thinking about?"
Bella raised her head and pondered for a moment before speaking. "I've been thinking about how I could possibly assist your mates, I have some ideas but I can't fully implement them at the moment."
Caius appeared eager to hear her ideas. "Do share, Isabella. We are open to any suggestions that could aid my beloved Athenodora."
Bella's expression suddenly changed as she grinned mischievously. "Actually, I have a demonstration in mind. Caius, would you mind punching Aro in the face as hard as you can?"
The three Volturi leaders looked at Bella in disbelief. Aro, however, caught her winking at him and decided to play along. "Well, let's see what Isabella has in mind, Caius. She's proven herself to be trustworthy, so I'm willing to take one for the team as they say."
Caius shrugged, got up, and threw a punch directly at Aro's face with all his force. However, before it landed, Bella had placed a strong shield around Aro. When Caius' fist connected, it did nothing to Aro, but Caius let out a cry of agony as his hand hit what felt to him like a solid wall. He rubbed his hand, amazed at what had happened.
"As you can see, my shield would certainly protect someone. So far, it has been impervious to all attacks I could think of. I was thinking that if I could learn to shield someone and leave the protection on them permanently, it would do a lot of good for many, including your mates. My shield's power has been increasing greatly the more I use it and try new things with it. I'm going to put a lot of effort into learning to keep my shields permanently in place when I'm not near the recipient. Hopefully, it would allow your mates to rejoin society without your constant worry."
"That would be amazing, Isabella. Thank you for thinking of them," Aro said gratefully.
Caius, who rarely showed any emotion, gave her a small smile and added, "Yes, thank you, Isabella. Your offer to help is most generous."
"Of course, I'm happy to help. But please don't tell your mates about this just yet. It might take me years to master this skill, or it may never happen at all. I don't want to get their hopes up," Bella cautioned, but then added with confidence, "But in my mind, I have faith in my abilities to get it done. Just like that trick I showed you with the sun last year, I can hold it for a good hour now. Soon, I plan to test it in public, but only for very short periods." Bella beamed with pride as she reflected on her progress in that area.
"That's excellent news, Isabella. I'm looking forward to that walk," Aro said with a smile.
"Maybe you can take your mate with you, Aro. I think she would enjoy it even more than you," Bella suggested.
Ciaus, feeling left out of the loop, interrupted, "What are you two talking about?"
Bella turned to Aro and asked, "You never told them?" Aro shook his head. "Well, in that case, just think of it as another surprise for one of my future visits. I'm sure you'll like it when you see it in action," Bella said with a smile, hoping to alleviate Caius' irritation.
As Bella observed Marcus's mournful expression, she couldn't bear to see him in such a state. So, she decided to take action to cheer him up. "It's been a delightful conversation with all of you, but Marcus, I'd like to show you something that might lift your spirits. Would you accompany me for a stroll?" she suggested with a gentle smile.
"Of course, Isabella. I would be honored to join you," Marcus replied, getting up from his seat.
As they made their way out of the library, Bella and Marcus exchanged a nod with Aro and Ciaus. Bella led Marcus towards the front reception desk where a flustered human secretary stood quickly when she noticed Marcus. Bella couldn't help but notice how the woman's eyes widened at the sight of one of the Kings at her station.
"Is there anything I can help you with, Master Marcus?" the secretary asked, and Bella realized she did not know her name.
"Not at the moment, Francesca, but thank you. You can carry on," Marcus replied, looking at Bella with confusion. As the sun was shining outside, there was not much to do in the reception area.
"Don't worry, Marcus. Just trust me on this one. Let's take a short walk. It will be okay," Bella said, smiling reassuringly.
With that, Bella opened the door, and to Marcus's amazement, nothing happened when she stepped outside into the sunlight. She looked perfectly normal, she smiled, and waved him to come out with her. Slowly, Marcus made his way out and stepped foot outside in the bright sun.
"Amazing, isn't it, Marcus?" Bella looked up at the sun and smiled. "Let's start walking. We only have a limited time at the moment. As I told Aro, I can hold this for about an hour, but let's only test it for 20 minutes or so. We don't want to take any chances. It's best to stay close to me as well. I have some range to my shield, but why push it?"
As Bella and Marcus stepped outside into the bright sunlight, Marcus felt a sense of awe wash over him. It had been thousands of years since he had experienced the warmth of the sun on his skin in the open public, and the sight of the packed streets of Volterra filled him with wonder. They strolled down the cobblestone roads, taking in the sights and sounds of the city. The vibrant colors of the buildings and the hustle and bustle of the people filled Marcus with a sense of joy he had not felt in centuries.
As they walked, Bella watched Marcus and the smile on his face was all the thanks Bella needed. After about ten minutes, they began to make their way back to the castle. As they approached, they noticed Heidi watching them from her balcony, which protected her from sparkling to the public around the castle. Bella and Marcus waved at her, and she looked on in amazement, unsure of what she was seeing.
Returning to the castle, they passed by the reception area where Francesca was still in a state of shock at the sight of Marcus walking in the sun. They nodded to her and continued on to the library. Marcus couldn't stop smiling, feeling grateful to have experienced something so different after all these years.
"Thank you for that experience, Isabella. I can't describe how it felt to do something that seems so simple but also impossible for the first time in thousands of years," Marcus said, still feeling the thrill of being outside in public in the sunlight.
"It was my pleasure, Marcus. And, you know, you can call me Bella right?" she said, looking at him hopefully.
"You're right, Bella. I will endeavor to do that from now on. Now, I believe I was going to show you how to access the computer system to view that book on hieroglyphics," Marcus said, gesturing towards the computer system in the library.
