Chapter 11:

Bella's brow furrowed momentarily as she struggled to comprehend Alice's words. However, her instincts swiftly kicked in, snapping her back to reality.

"Alice, take a breath. Now, tell me what happened? Who took Jasper? And most importantly, where are you?" Bella's voice cut through the air, filled with determination.

Alice's trembling voice carried a sense of fear as she recounted the events. Bella's focus intensified, absorbing every detail while her mind raced to devise a plan.

"We were at Peter and Charlotte's house in Texas," Alice began, her voice tinged with anxiety. "They're currently in Europe, and they offered us their place for some relaxation and alone time. Bella, I have no idea who these attackers were. We were completely caught off guard by a group of twelve vampires. Jasper yelled at me to run while he bravely held them back. But now he's gone... missing. I didn't see any of this coming. Why didn't I see this?" Alice's words trembled with a mix of fear and self-doubt.

Bella wasted no time. With a burst of speed, she took off running towards the south, knowing that her vampire speed would be much faster than trying to navigate flights in Seattle. "I'm on my way, Alice. I'll find him," Bella declared with resolute determination. "Stay calm. Have your visions given you any clues about his whereabouts?"

"No, I didn't see this happening, and I've received no visions," Alice replied, her voice trembling with distress. "Right now, my future is all cloudy. Nothing's working. I'm so scared, Bella."

"Are you in a safe place now, Alice? Don't go back to Peter and Charlotte's house. As I head south, I'll make some calls. Please stay where you are if you're safe. I'll bring him back to you. I promise," Bella reassured, her conviction unwavering. She knew she would protect her family at all costs.

"I should be safe where I am. Thank you so much, Bella," Alice said with gratitude evident in her voice.

"Take care, Alice. I'll call you back as soon as I make some necessary calls," Bella replied, her tone brimming with reassurance.

After ending the call with Alice, Bella's mind went into overdrive, swiftly formulating a plan. Her intuition pointed towards Maria's men as the culprits behind Jasper's abduction, but the reasons behind it and his current location remained a mystery. Bella decided that her first call should be to Demetri, hoping he could use his gift to provide information about Jasper's whereabouts.

Bella swiftly dialed Demetri's number, and as soon as he picked up, she wasted no time in getting straight to the point. "I need your help, Demetri. Jasper has been taken. Can you use your ability to tell me where he is?"

There was a moment of silence on the other end, and then Demetri spoke. "Jasper is in Mexico, Bella."

Bella nodded to herself, confirming her suspicions. "That's what I thought. I'm almost certain Maria is behind this. It's probably some form of revenge for him leaving her. Can you tell me if Maria is in the same location?"

"Yes, she is, Bella," Demetri confirmed. "We issued a stern warning to Maria two years ago to cease her activities. The last time we encountered her at her camp, she had approximately 30 newborns and followers with her. Do you require our assistance, Bella?"

"Please, just give me the location of her camp. I don't have time to wait for backup. I need to get to Jasper before… anything permanent happens to him," Bella pressed, her voice firm. Having just crossed the border from Washington into Oregon, she felt grateful for the vast stretches of forests that would enable her to bypass the bustling cities. With a clear path ahead, Bella set her sights on Mexico, confident that she would reach her destination unhindered.

"Okay, I've sent the location to your phone. Please be careful, Bella. Maria is a formidable opponent, not to be taken lightly. She has held dominion over vast regions of Mexico for almost five centuries," Demetri advised, his tone filled with concern. "I will inform Aro about the situation."

"Thanks for your help, Demetri. I assure you, I won't underestimate her. Please make it clear to Aro that soon there won't be a Maria problem anymore. No one fucks with my family," Bella declared with conviction before ending the call.

Her next call was going to be harder. Bella knew that Garrett would not be pleased with her decision to go without him. Taking a deep breath, she dialed his number.

Garrett answered the phone. "Hey, honey. How did the talk with Harry go?" he inquired, his voice filled with curiosity.

"It went fine, Garrett, but we're facing a bigger problem. I need you to listen carefully to everything I have to say." Taking a deep breath, Bella continued, "Jasper has been taken. Alice called and revealed that they were ambushed by a group of a dozen vampires. Thankfully, Alice is unharmed, but Maria has captured Jasper. I'm on my way now to rescue him."

"Where are you now, Bella?" Garrett responded urgently. "Let me come and help you."

"I'm sorry, Garrett, I can't afford to take the time to wait for you," Bella replied, her regret evident. "However, there are some things you could do to assist me."

Garrett's response was immediate and unwavering, "Anything. What do you need?"

"First, call Charlie and let him know that I've joined you to visit your friend. Inform him that we'll be away for a couple of days, so he doesn't become concerned about my sudden absence," Bella instructed Garrett. "After that, call Alice and find out where she is currently. Go to her and make sure she's safe and has someone with her until I bring Jasper back. She's a wreck, Garrett. Do whatever you can to support her."

"I'll take care of both tasks right away, Bella. But promise me this, don't hold back. If you're going in alone, I want you to leave nothing but destruction in your wake. This isn't the time for a conscience, and it's certainly not a training session. Unleash your shield to its fullest extent, and fight with everything you have. This is war." Garrett said resolutely, his voice filled with determination.

"I fully understand, Garrett. I'm going to rain down hell upon them. Trust me, having others with me would only serve as a distraction. I'll ensure my own safety. I promise. I love you, Garrett," Bella affirmed.

"I love you too, Bella. Get Jasper and bring him back to us. I have complete faith in your abilities. I'll inform Charlie and then make my way to Alice. Take care and stay safe. I'll see you soon," Garrett replied, his voice filled with love and support.

Bella ended the call and focused her full attention on her plans of action. She had been honest with Garrett; she intended to annihilate everything and everyone in her path until Jasper was free. There would be no conventional fighting to determine skill superiority, and no warnings would be given. In Bella's eyes, Maria had overstayed her welcome on this Earth for far too long—500 years too long. The time had come to put an end to her reign. Undeterred, Bella continued her journey south until her phone rang, displaying Aro's name on the caller ID.

"Aro," Bella said as she continued running.

"Demetri just informed me about what's happening. Do you need our help, Bella? I can have Felix, Demetri, Jane, and Alec on a plane within an hour heading towards you," Aro offered.

"Thank you for the offer, Aro, but they wouldn't make it in time. I'll be in Mexico in a few hours. I'm going to end Maria, Aro. No more second chances," Bella declared, with steel in her voice.

"I understand, Bella. I'm going to send them out to you just in case. Please stay safe," Aro said.

"Thank you, Aro. Their assistance won't be necessary, but I appreciate the gesture. I'll inform you once I've rescued Jasper. Talk to you later," Bella responded gratefully before ending the call.

Bella then called Alice back and let her know all that she had discovered, and she was on her way to rescue Jasper.

Hours later, Bella entered Mexico. When she was 50 miles away from Maria's camp, she flew high up into the sky to do some aerial reconnaissance. She needed the element of surprise so she could protect Jasper before Maria knew anything was happening. No way would she be expecting an attack from the air.

As Bella soared through the billowing clouds, she came to a sudden halt above Maria's heavily fortified base camp—an isolated cluster of structures standing alone in the vast desert. Maria had stationed sentries all around the perimeter, vigilant for any signs of approaching danger from the ground. Taking stock of the scene below, Bella observed the presence of thirty-six vampires that she could see scattered about the camp. But her primary objective remained locating Jasper, and a wave of relief washed over her when she spotted him, alive and seemingly unharmed, though discerning the details proved challenging from her lofty aerial vantage point. Jasper was suspended, shackled to a post, engaged in conversation with a woman whom Bella assumed to be Maria. The time for action had arrived, and Bella was resolute in her readiness.

Initiating her plan, Bella first enveloped the entire complex in a formidable shield. There would be no escape. Next, she directed her attention to Jasper, encasing him in a protective shield and pulsing it gently to convey that help had arrived. Bella then erected a dome shield around Maria, effectively removing her from the imminent battle. She believed Jasper would want the privilege of finally ending her. With her shields in place, Bella intensified the shield already encompassing her own body, rendering herself untouchable. The anger within her surged, fueled by the thoughts of the suffering Maria had inflicted upon Jasper throughout the centuries.

With everything in place, Bella descended rapidly from the clouds, raining down hell upon all who stood in her way.

Jasper POV

Jasper grimaced, feeling the searing pain coursing through his body. Maria's men had just finished fusing his legs back in place, a painful procedure after the brutal journey from Texas. Reflecting on the recent events, he traced his thoughts back to the ambush that had befallen him and Alice. In that moment, his sole concern had been ensuring Alice's safety. He had shouted for her to run while he faced their assailants head-on. Though he managed to incapacitate two of them, the overwhelming numbers proved insurmountable, and they swarmed him without mercy. Overpowered, he was held down by eight individuals while the remaining two ripped off his legs, rendering him immobile. None of these men were familiar to him personally, but their affiliation with Maria was unmistakable. The whole ordeal reeked of her influence. Uncertain of what lay ahead, Jasper braced himself for the imminent future, harboring no illusions of favorable outcomes.

They rushed him and the two men he incapacitated to a van parked 15 miles away, which sped away in the direction he assumed led to Mexico. The journey was marked by an eerie silence, devoid of conversation. Jasper couldn't help but interpret the lack of communication as a potentially positive sign. It seemed probable that Maria had intentions beyond mere execution unless she just wanted to do the deed herself. But if revenge was her sole motivation, she could have sought it at any point in the past century.

He reasoned that Maria likely had ulterior motives, seeking to exploit him in order to advance her plans of territorial expansion. The looming possibility of once again becoming a pawn in her schemes weighed heavily on his mind.

Finally, the van came to a halt, and without delay, they forcefully dragged Jasper to a sturdy post. They hoisted him up and chained his arms, leaving him suspended in a state of helplessness, still missing his legs. The nature of the chains remained a mystery to Jasper, as they displayed an unexpected resilience against vampire strength. And in that moment, a voice pierced through the air, a chilling sound that Jasper had fervently prayed never to hear again.

"My, my, Jasper. How the mighty have fallen," Maria remarked, her voice laced with a hint of amusement, as she emerged from one of the side houses and approached Jasper's suspended form. Her stride exuded confidence, each step purposeful and deliberate.

As Jasper laid his eyes upon the woman he despised most in this world, his gaze swept across her form, taking in the changes he noticed after a century of liberation from her relentless cruelty. Her long, straight black hair remained a constant, cascading down her back in a familiar manner. Yet, it was the prominent scar that now marked her face, tracing a straight path from just below her left eye, going down past her jawline, that caught his attention. It was a clear indication that Maria had engaged in a battle, one where victory had come at a price, leaving an indelible mark upon her once unblemished features.

Her attire, although reminiscent of her usual style, spoke of an era long past. She adorned herself in a dress that mirrored the fashion of peasant women from centuries ago. Its low-cut design revealed the all-too-familiar sight of her ample bosom, a sight that once held a twisted allure for Jasper. Disgust now washed over him, fueled by the knowledge that he had willingly shared his bed with her for decades, trapped in a life where he knew no other existence.

"What do you want, Maria?" Jasper asked, his tone laced with weariness and a hint of disdain. He braced himself for the inevitable encounter with the sadistic bitch again.

"I want you back, Jasper," Maria said with a chilling intensity in her eyes. Her voice carried just a hint of the madness that Jasper could feel engulfing her entire being. "You were once a powerful commander of my men, and I yearn to have you at my side once more, leading them in my grand plans for expansion."

She paused, her gaze locked onto Jasper's. "My previous commander was sufficient, but the Volturi, those feeble pretenders to power, recently disposed of him as a warning to my grand designs. They have grown weak, becoming complacent rulers. If I were in their position, I would have eradicated any potential rivals like myself centuries ago."

A sinister smile curled on Maria's scarred face as she continued, her voice seething with a twisted ambition. "They will receive their due retribution eventually. But for now, my sights are set on conquering the rest of Mexico, then the entirety of Central America. And from there, my dominion will expand even further, spreading like a wildfire consuming everything in its path."

Her words dripped with an unhinged obsession, a hunger for dominance that knew no limits. Jasper couldn't help but feel a mixture of revulsion and dread at the mere thought of being entangled once again in Maria's web of madness.

"What makes you think I would ever consider joining you again? If anything, you're even more deranged now than you were a century ago," Jasper retorted, his voice laced with defiance and a touch of disdain.

"I can think of one reason, Jasper. Your mate," Maria said with a twisted grin, relishing in the growing focus and anger that consumed Jasper. "Oh, now I've observed you from a distance over the decades, just in case I needed your skills again. I know you found your precious mate, and for some unfathomable reason, you turned into a fucking animal eater. It was such a disgrace to witness the once legendary figure I created, my 'god of war,' be reduced to sucking on animals and attending high school like some pitiful human adolescent."

Her words dripped with contempt and malice as she continued, her eyes gleaming with sadistic delight. "If I didn't think I might be able to use you again one day, I would have ended your miserable existence long ago, just as a favor to you. But fear not, dear Jasper, for I shall soon reintroduce you to the proper way of feeding. I can't fathom how you've managed to survive on the garbage you've been ingesting."

A wicked chuckle escaped her lips as she played her final card. "In any case, if you refuse to aid me, I will have my men capture your precious mate. Believe me, Jasper, you don't want that. You know all too well what fate awaits her if my men get a hold of her."

Maria's words oozed with malevolence, sending shivers down Jasper's spine. He was trapped in a no-win scenario, torn between his unwavering commitment to protect Alice and the grim reality of facing the monstrous depths of Maria's cruelty once again.

"You bitch," Jasper seethed through gritted teeth.

Maria's smile widened, relishing in her sadistic game. "Oh, Jasper, imagine all the unspeakable horrors that await your precious Alice if you dare defy me again," she taunted. "I'll have my men reattach your legs, leaving you hanging there to ponder your choices. I shall return in several hours to hear your decision and see if my men need to pay another visit to Texas. Many of them are in desperate need of female companionship, and they're all hoping you'll be foolish enough to deny me."

Two vampires swiftly approached Jasper and reattached his legs. The excruciating pain of his limbs fusing back together enveloped him in agonizing torment. Suspended in his helpless state, he spent hours immersed in deep contemplation, his gaze sweeping across the camp's surroundings, taking in the sights and absorbing the grim reality of his predicament. Maria had assembled a formidable force of thirty or more loyal henchmen under her command, their presence and her menacing threats weighing heavily on Jasper's mind. The safety of Alice was paramount, and he desperately sought a way to protect her. Yet, a solution remained elusive, evading his grasp.

Eventually, Maria returned, positioning herself in front of him with a sinister grin on her face. "Well, Jasper, are my men making a trip to Texas?" she inquired, her voice laced with a mix of cold calculation and sadistic satisfaction.

Before Jasper could respond, he felt it, the unmistakable touch of pressure he recognized as Bella's protective shield. A smile crept across his face, knowing that his prayers had been answered.

"Why are you smiling, Jasper? This is no laughing matter. Your mate's fate hangs in the balance," Maria retorted, her voice dripping with impatience.

"It does not matter, Maria. You and your men will all soon be dead. She has come." Jasper declared, his smile unwavering.

Maria looked at Jasper as if he was crazy. "What are you talking about?"

Jasper could feel the intense surge of Bella's emotions, growing stronger with each passing moment. Her anger was palpable, emanating from high above them. Jasper lifted his gaze, and Maria followed suit. It was then that they witnessed her descent from the heavens, a streak of fury and vengeance. Bella was like an avenging angel of death hurtling towards the ground. As Bella drew nearer, explosions erupted all around them, vampires meeting their fiery demise one after another.

"NO!" Maria's scream reverberated with anger, but her attempts to move were futile as she discovered herself ensnared within an impenetrable invisible shield. She frantically darted in every direction, but Jasper knew there would be no escape for her.

"Best to watch the show, Maria," Jasper's voice dripped with cold satisfaction. "It'll be the last one you ever witness."

Bella's descent brought her close to the ground, and with a swift and precise maneuver, she soared over the basecamp, executing a deadly strafing run. As she passed overhead, her unleashed fury obliterated the newborn vampires in her path. Some were imploded, while others were mercilessly sliced in half. The gruesome scene unfolded before their eyes, a stark reminder that in the midst of war, carnage and destruction were inevitable.

Finally setting foot on the ground, Bella found herself encircled by a group of ten vampires. Without hesitation, as if executing a choreographed performance, their heads detached from their bodies, tumbling to the ground in unison, while their lifeless forms crumpled beneath them. With a burst of lightning speed, Bella propelled herself forward, engaging in a relentless and brutal hand-to-hand combat with the remnants of her adversaries. Her movements were a blur of unmatched agility and ferocity as she effortlessly disposed of the remaining newborns. Whether tearing heads from necks or causing advancing vampires to explode, Bella left no opportunity for her assailants to retaliate. She was an unstoppable force, obliterating her foes with such efficiency that the entire battle lasted no longer than five minutes.

As the final enemy succumbed to Bella's wrath, she stood tall amidst the aftermath, surveying the scene. Suddenly, all the lifeless bodies erupted into flames, consumed by an inferno that enveloped them entirely. From the blazing conflagration emerged dozens of billowing purple smoke clouds, creating an eerie spectacle that hung in the air. In that moment, Bella's eyes locked onto Maria's, shifting her focus to the one who had orchestrated all this chaos and destruction.

Bella POV

It was over. All of Maria's men were reduced to ash, their existence erased without any real resistance. The fight had proven all too easy. But it needed to be done. Bella knew it in the depths of her being, and the rightness mingled with a lingering sense of outrage over the suffering inflicted upon her beloved family member lifted Bella's spirits from all the death she had just inflicted.

Her gaze fell upon Maria, the once formidable leader now cowering in fear, her defeat etched across her face. Bella's anger surged, pulsating through her veins like a wildfire. Without hesitation, she lifted Maria off the ground, her grip fueled by a mix of vengeance and justified fury. With a swift, punishing motion, Bella unleashed a barrage of supernatural force, repeatedly slamming Maria left and right into her invisible shield. It was brutal, but no less then a monster like Maria deserved before she met her end.

Satisfied with the chastisement, Bella finally dropped Maria, her attention shifting to the suspended figure of Jasper. There he hung, his arms shackled, but he was alive. As Bella's gaze met Jasper's, her smile radiated with affection and relief, acknowledging the ordeal he had just endured. Jasper returned the smile, a testament to their deep bond as family.

With swift and precise actions, Bella quickly removed the protective shield that encased Jasper. In its place, she positioned a flat shield beneath his feet, ensuring a stable landing. Utilizing two additional shields, she deftly sliced through the chains that held him suspended in the air, allowing him to descend gradually and gracefully to the ground. As Jasper's feet made contact with the earth, Bella approached him, embracing him tightly in a heartfelt hug.

"You had us all worried there, Jasper," Bella said, her arms still wrapped around him in a tight embrace.

"Thanks for the help, Bella. I was just about to make my move myself," Jasper responded with a touch of lightness in his tone. "But I must admit, your assistance was most welcome. Is Alice alright?" he asked, his voice turning more serious at the end.

"Yes, she's safe. Garrett should either be with her already or getting to her soon," Bella assured Jasper. "Let's get out of here, Jasper. But before we go, there's still the matter of Maria. Do you want the honor?" she asked, her voice filled with resolve.

Jasper's gaze pierced through his creator, his torturer, and his nemesis. For nearly two centuries, he had yearned for this moment, and now it had finally arrived. "Yes," he declared, his voice resonating with unwavering resolve, "I will put an end to her."

Bella released the shield encircling Maria, but before she could take any action, Jasper unleashed a torrent of emotions that had festered within him due to Maria's torment and cruelty. The flood of anguish and suffering overwhelmed Maria, causing her to emit a piercing scream of distress as she crumpled into a ball on the ground.

Bella observed as Maria's agonized screams subsided, and the deadly dance between her and Jasper ensued. The intensity of their confrontation was palpable, and it was evident that Jasper held nothing back in his assault. In a matter of moments, one of Maria's arms fell to the ground, followed by her head seconds later, landing on its side in the dirt.

Jasper knelt down beside Maria's lifeless body, searching through the pockets of her dress until his fingers closed around a lighter. With deliberate determination, he gripped Maria's head by the base of her hair, directing it towards her lifeless body. As the flame flickered to life, he released the lighter, sending it soaring through the air. The spark caught hold, and flames swiftly consumed Maria's remains, obliterating any trace of her existence. With one final act of decisive closure, Jasper flung her severed head into the fiery inferno, putting an end to her reign of terror.

"She's finally gone, Jasper," Bella said, a smile of relief gracing her lips. The weight of Maria's presence lifted from her shoulders, and she yearned to leave this wretched place behind. "Do you sense any lingering emotions, any stragglers hiding out?" Bella's voice held a note of finality. She was determined to ensure that every trace of Maria's influence was eradicated from existence.

Jasper closed his eyes, reaching out with his heightened senses to scan the surroundings. After a moment, he opened his eyes and shook his head in response. "No, yours and mine are the only emotions remaining," he confirmed.

Bella surveyed the smoking remnants of the bodies that had been reduced to ash, her eyes narrowing. While the destruction was evident, she felt compelled to leave no evidence behind. With a resolute tone, she spoke up, her words carrying a sense of closure. "Alright, let's raze the camp. I want nothing to be left standing."

With those words, Bella summoned a shield beneath herself and Jasper, lifting them high into the air and swiftly moving them away from the buildings. From their elevated vantage point, they could clearly observe the buildings sprawled out before them. Bella directed her attention to the smaller structures first, channeling her power into devastating explosions that ripped them apart or engulfed them in roaring flames.

As the last of the smaller buildings succumbed to her onslaught, only the largest structure remained standing. Bella's focus intensified, drawing upon the depths of her power, and she directed it towards the heart of the colossal edifice. The building quivered under the weight of her surging power, and sections of it started to break off, hurtling towards the center where Bella's power coalesced, creating a vortex of destruction.

Finally, unleashing every ounce of power she possessed, Bella released an explosion of unimaginable force. The massive building erupted in a cataclysmic blast, obliterating everything in its path. Grateful for the desolate expanse of the desert, Bella knew that such a powerful explosion would have drawn attention if any witnesses were nearby.

Bella surveyed the devastation she had wrought, her gaze lingering on the remnants of lives she had extinguished. Unlike her encounter with Victoria, this time Bella had remained in control of herself. She didn't take pleasure in the destruction she had caused; it was simply a necessary task that demanded her attention. Her family, above all else, held paramount importance in Bella's life, and she would stop at nothing to protect them.

Turning her attention to Jasper, Bella offered him a heartfelt smile. "Are you ready to go home, Jasper?"

Jasper nodded in response. Bella gently lowered them to the ground, their feet touching the scorched earth outside the smoking ruins of the camp. With a reassuring smile, she handed him her phone, understanding his urgency to contact Alice.

As they embarked on their journey back to Texas, Bella tried to grant Jasper some privacy during his conversation with Alice, yet the heightened sensitivity of her vampire hearing allowed her to catch every word exchanged. Nonetheless, the overwhelming sense of relief flooded her being, knowing that she had successfully rescued Jasper and that everything had turned out alright in the end.

After Jasper concluded his conversation with Alice, he handed the phone to Bella, who took it with gratitude. She reassured Garrett on the other end of the line, emphasizing that she had emerged unscathed, and no one had landed a finger on her.

After ending the call with Garrett, Bella dialed Aro's number and relayed the news of Maria's demise. Expressing her gratitude for his offer of assistance, she assured Aro that she would provide a detailed account of the events once she and Garrett returned to Italy.

The reunion between Alice and Jasper was a heartwarming sight to behold. They embraced each other tightly, holding on for what seemed like an eternity. Bella could sense the overwhelming emotions flowing between them, and she was certain that if Alice were capable of shedding tears, they would be streaming down her face.

After they finally let go, Alice immediately rushed to Bella, engulfing her in a tight embrace. She expressed her gratitude repeatedly, thanking Bella over and over again. Bella returned the embrace, cherishing the moment and feeling a deep sense of fulfillment for being able to assist her loved ones.

Alice and Jasper made the decision to depart from Texas and return to the current residence of the Cullen family. With heartfelt farewells, Bella told them that she and Garrett would visit them all soon.

Once Alice and Jasper were gone, Garrett turned his attention to Bella, concern evident in his eyes. "How are you truly, Bella? I know how much you dislike real violence. I'm sorry that you had to go through all that."

"I'll be okay, Garrett. It wasn't easy—well, actually, it was a little too easy. But what I did had to be done, and I'm okay with it. I'll be fine," Bella said, giving him a reassuring hug. "Now, let's head back to Washington and spend some more time with my dad. I think we'll extend our visit. Going through all this, it really shows how important family is."

With that, they sped off, reaching Washington in the middle of the night. They returned to their hotel, and Bella relished in a long, rejuvenating shower, allowing the warm water to wash away the accumulated grime and weariness of the past few days. Feeling refreshed, Bella and Garrett made love slowly, just loving the feeling of being connected after such an ordeal, until the morning sun emerged on the horizon.

As daylight broke, they attentively reapplied their old age makeup, ensuring their disguise remained intact. Ready to face the day, they embarked on their visit to Bella's dad, eager to spend more quality time with him and cherish the precious moments with family after the harrowing events of the past few days.

When they arrived at Charlie's house, Bella embraced him tightly, finding solace in the presence of her family, which felt more significant than ever before.

"How was meeting Garrett's friend?" Charlie inquired.

"It was great, Dad," Bella replied with a smile. "Actually, the past two days have been pretty hectic. Let's go into the living room and just relax together for a while." As they entered the living room, Bella saw that, along with Sue was Seth, Harry, and to her delight, Stacy and little Seth Jr. were there. As they all sat down and started to talk, Bella wore a big smile on her face and relaxed in the company of her big, happy, somewhat unusual family.

One chapter to go. I will post the final chapter to 'The Life We Shared' later this week. I hope everyone has enjoyed the story. Thank you for the reviews. I will have another short stand alone story with Bella and Garrett that I plan to post next week after this one is finished.
