Half an hour later, David and the girl sat in a dimly lit interrogation room with a small metal table in front of them. The girl had a guilty look on her face as the woman was lecturing the two heroes.
"I hope you two realize that your actions tonight will not be taken lightly." The woman said sternly, pacing around the table.
"But they started it!" The girl said, sounding slightly afraid.
"So wait, the two of us stopped a robbery, and we are the ones put on trial?" David asked in disbelief.
"The two of you put yourselves and others in danger." The woman said in response.
David rolled his eyes, "Of course, we put ourselves in danger, that's kind of what being a hero is about. Risking your own skin to protect other people. And who else exactly did we put in danger, there was no one else out in the streets." David stated in defense.
"Yeah, what he said." The girl stated half-heartedly.
"The two of you still needed to consider the collateral damages you could have caused. Also you both charged in recklessly, without giving any forethought to your opponent's superior numbers and power." The woman summarized.
"Ok one, I don't think those four thugs could really be considered to have 'greater power', she took those guys out in seconds." David said indicating to the girl next to him, who gave a small smile in response.
"And two, you didn't seem to be too concerned with collateral damages to keep from fighting yourself Ms…" David indicated as he never got her name.
"Goodwitch. Glynda Goodwitch." Glynda stated flatly. "And the only reason I got involved was to protect you two."
"Well Ms. Witch, you were there and saw what happen. I can handle anything that can come my way." David said with a glare towards her, inciting a harsh glare from the women. "Now are you going to throw the book at us or are just wasting our time with trivials?"
Glynda gave a sigh while the girl in red tensed up, waiting for a verdict. "If it were up to me, you'd both be sent home, with a pat on the back..." she said calmly, causing the girl to relax slightly as she hope that she can get away from this scott free.
"And a slap on the wrist!" she stated firmly, hitting the tabletop in front of them with her crop, causing the girl to let out a yelp in surprise, while David didn't even flinch. "But someone here who would like to meet you." She said before stepping to the side as from the dark door a man, who looked to be middle-aged.
He had tousled gray hair and thin brown eyes. He wore shaded glass spectacles and a dark-green scarf with a small purple cross-shaped emblem on it. He wore an unzipped black suit over a black-buttoned vest, with a green undershirt underneath. He also wore black trousers shoes and long, dark-green pants. In his left hand was a mug of what David presumed to be coffee, basing that theory on the steam rising from the cup. In his left hand was a plate of chocolate chip cookies.
"Ruby Rose." The man greeted as he got a closer look at, the girl was now called Ruby, with his black tinted glasses that were in front of his topaz eyes and silver hair which seemed to move every other time he moved his head. "You have silver eyes." He said as Ruby found that to be a strange thing to say to her.
"Um..." Ruby said as she was confused as to what was going on.
"Is that somehow important?" David inquired.
The man shifted his gaze to David. "And I believe your name was David Callahan?" he asked.
"Yeah…" David answered as he narrow his eyes at the man in front of him. "How did you know that?" He asks as he stands up.
The man sighs as he holds his cane. "I understand your caution, especially with a stranger like me and Goodwitch over here. After everything you all have been through, it is not surprising for you to not put your trust in everyone you meet, especially when you have been betrayed in one way or another by people you have trusted in the past. Someone, even you considered to love…. But I assure you, I mean no harm. I was simply informed by a mutual friend of ours... Professor Paradox, Clockwork, Zadkiel, and Rowan."
The mere mention of their names causes David to pause for a brief moment before he composes himself. "I just didn't think they would come all the way here." Ruby gives David a look of confusion about who those people are.
The man gives him a nod and replies, "Indeed they do. And they had already warned us ahead of time about you and your brother's arrival and told us to inform you two of our world as best we can. Paradox and I have been long acquaintances since my time as... as a... teacher in this school. Now, I am Headmaster."
"Hmmm…not many people know about them." David told the man. "But since you seem to know them and talk about me and Drake, then I'll trust you….for now." David said as still doesn't completely trust the man in front of him.
"Very well." The man said as he understood that trust need to be formed.
Glynda pulled out some sort of touchscreen device and then displayed a video of both Ruby's and David's attempts to stop the store heist.
"That was being recorded?" David asked himself when he saw the video.
"So, would the two of you mind explaining how you were capable of such feats?" the man asked, referring to the video. David and Ruby glanced at each other for a second before answering.
"You might want to get her answer first." David said hitching his thumb to the girl next to him. He knew after explaining his own predicament, everyone else's brains would need a hard reboot.
The man turned his full attention over to Ruby who timidly answered "S-Signal Academy."
"They taught you how to use one of the most dangerous weapons ever designed?" He asked. David was shocked when he heard this, as the way the man said this he found it hard to believe that a bumbling girl can wield a giant weapon like that. But the way she handled was amazing if David had to say the least as the Kryptonian can tell the girl had great training wielding it like it was nothing.
"Well, one teacher in particular." She answered nervously as she didn't know if telling the man that one person did than everyone else was a good thing or not as she didn't want to get anyone else in trouble or even lie about it, as she was raised like that.
"I see." The man said cryptically as he put down a plate of cookies in front of Ruby, and to first glance, her eyes sparkled a bit, and was hesitating to grab one, as she did and ate it within a second, soon she took another than another, and another until she was stuffing her face.
As the man saw how crazy Ruby was eating the cookies, he wanted to get on tracked and said, "It's just I've only seen one other scythe-wielder of that skill before." Turning his head up as he remembers his past and said, "A dusty, old crow."
"Thash muh unkul!" Ruby said with her mouth full as the man raise an eyebrow to that as Ruby clear her mouth and said, "Sorry, that's my uncle Qrow. He's a teacher at signal!"
As the man took a sip of his coffee, he heard Ruby's story as she went on as she said, "I was complete garbage before he took me under his wing, now I'm all like- Hoooaahh! Witchaaa!-" Ruby said as she began striking poses like one would see in old kung-fu movies, to illustrate her point.
David just looks at her in confusion about her personality, personally, he finds her a bit too happy for his taste, but for some reason, he somehow enjoys the way she talks. Maybe it just reminds him of his ex-girlfriend Cassie, but who the hell knows?
Before Ruby could go on, the man cut in and said, "So I noticed." Putting down his cup of coffee and had his cane tapping the ground a bit before setting it still as he said, "Now what is an adorable girl such as yourself doing at a school designed to train warriors?" He asks as David admittedly had at the back of his mind.
"Well…" Ruby began to say as she was very hyper, trying keep it down as she said, "I want to be a huntress." David remembered her calling Glynda that back on the rooftop.
"You want to slay monsters." The Headmaster said as he looked to Ruby remembering another young Huntress much like Ruby was years before now.
"Yeah... I only have two more years of training at Signal and then I'm going to apply for beacon. My sister is starting there this year and she's trying to become a Huntress and I'm trying to become a Huntress because I want to help people, my parents have always taught us to help others so I thought might as well make a career out of it police are alright but Huntresses are so much more fun romantic and." She trailed off as she seem to be excited about it. "You know?" She asked getting really excited by the prospect of her career.
Glynda just rolled her eyes at Ruby's childish outburst as Ozpin looked at her with his fingertips linked together. "Do you know who I am?" The man asked as Ruby nodded.
"Your professor Ozpin you're the headmaster of Beacon." Ruby answered causing the now-identified Ozpin to smirk in amusement.
Ozpin gave a small smile, "Hello." He said finally introducing himself.
"Nice to meet you." Ruby said politely as Ozpin cut to chase.
Ozpin then looked her dead in her silver eyes and asked, "You want to come to my school?"
"More than anything." Ruby answered. Ozpin looked over to Glynda, who just looked away, obviously she didn't agree but wasn't going to say anything.
"Well… OK." Ozpin answered. Ruby's face lit up as if it was Christmas. She had finally achieved her goal of being accepted into one of the best, most famous training academies in the world… and two years early.
Glynda then turns to David. "So how are you able to do what you do?" She questions the Kryptonian with a glare.
David didn't care as he stares back at her. "Let's just stay I'm a lot stronger than a locomotive and leave it at that."
Ozpin looks between the two. "I think he and his brother are going to fit in great." He said casually.
"Are you serious, sir?" Glynda questions her boss. "What if they are a threat?" She asks in worry.
"Nonsense, Glynda. I have faith in the boy and his brother." Ozpin reassures her. "Besides, if David wanted to, he could have killed you in a blink of an eye." He said as walks out of the room.
Glynda was following him before turning back to the two, mostly at David. He just turns his eyes red, almost ready to fire his heat visions. This startled her before quickly leaving.
"Well, that was interesting." Ruby said after a moment of silence.
The Next Day
Ruby was standing before a blond bomb shell of a girl hugged Ruby. "Oh I can't believe my baby sister is going to beacon with me." The blond haired girl said as Ruby was being hugged by her. "This is the best day ever!" She called as she hugged tighter. Ruby however did not look as happy, possibly as a result of having the life squeezed out of her.
The hugger, is a fair-skinned young woman with lilac eyes and bright golden hair worn loose that fades to pale gold at the tips with a cowlick sticking out at the top. She wears a tan jacket that bares her midriff, with golden brown piping and short, puffy sleeves with black cuffs that feature two gold buttons. Underneath this, she wears a low cut yellow crop top with her flaming heart emblem on the left breast in black. She also wears a brown belt covered by a pleated brown piece of material reaching from hip to hip around the back of her waist, with her emblem emblazoned on the right-most pleat in gold. Underneath this is a long, white, asymmetrical piece of material reaching to her knee on the right side, as well as a pair of black mini-shorts. She wears a pair of brown, knee-high boots and orange over-the-knee socks, with the right sock pushed down just below the knee. A gray bandanna is tied around her left knee. An orange infinity scarf around her neck and black fingerless gloves complete her outfit.
"PleAshe sChtoP..." Ruby croaked.
"But I'm so proud of you!" The blonde girl tells Ruby, finally letting her go. Judging by her previous statement, they seem to be sisters.
However, Ruby could only reply to her sister by saying, "Really Yang, it was nothing." She assures her. "Besides I had help, remember." Ruby reminds her.
Yang didn't seem to be deaf or something as she didn't listen to the last part. "What do you mean? It was incredible! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees." The much older one, apparently called Yang, responded with glee as she practically bounced, excited and proud for her little sister.
"I don't want to be the 'bee's knees', okay? I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees!" Ruby constantly insisted as she hugged her own arms as if trying to hide something, in fear for herself.
"What's with you aren't you excited?!" Yang asked as her sister was going to Beacon she should be happier.
Ruby sighed, "I got moved ahead, so I just don't want anyone to think I'm special or something." She stated much more clearly. Yang gave a sympathetic smile and put a comforting arm around Ruby's shoulder.
"But you are special." Yang assured Ruby while she hug her younger sister.
"Well, I can't say many people can pull off what you did with or without help." Came the voice of David as Ruby and Yang looked and saw the Kryptonian walking torts them alongside Drake.
"Hey, David." Ruby greets him with a smile as Yang gushed in response.
"Oh look at you two getting along!" Yang gushed hugging the life out of her younger half-sister. After all, it's not every day Ruby makes friends so easily like that. "Maybe even a third friend." Yang said as she look at Drake.
"Wow, she's full of energy." Venom commented on excited Yang is.
"No kidding." Drake responded back in his head.
"Please stop!" Ruby begged as Drake laughed a bit.
"I'm Drake." Drake introduced himself as he shook both Yang and Ruby's hand as he turns to the younger girl. "My brother told me about you. And now we are here at this school."
"That's great." Yang said with a smile. "The more the merrier." She said as she then walked up to David with a quizzical look on her face. Her eyes shift up and down observing every part of him. She then began slowly pacing around David continuing to scan him, as if sizing him up. David gave a questioning glance to Ruby who only shrugged in response, just as baffled by her sister's behavior as David. She finally came to a stop once in front of David again, giving him one more look over. She then gave a small smile.
"All right, I approve." She stated.
David raised an eyebrow in confusion, "Approve of what?" he asked.
"Of you dating my sister." She said simply.
"Excuse me?!" David exclaimed, wondering where that even came from.
"Yang!" Ruby cried embarrassingly, her face now the exact same shade of red as her cloak.
"Yeah, I got the vibe when I talked to Ruby last night. I could tell by the way she talked she was interested in you." Yang explained to the embarrassed teen hero.
"Look this is just a misunderstanding…" David tried to explain.
"Yang, we only met yesterday!" Ruby said, trying to cover her flushed face with her hood.
"Ah, I know. And it was love at first sight. Oh, it's so romantic." Yang squealed happily.
"She's right man." Drake said with a smirk going along with it. "Since your break up with Cassie, you've been moodier than normal."
"Stop encouraging her." David barked at his best friend.
"Exactly, you two would make a great couple."
"Can't believe this is happening." David said to Ruby. He really couldn't believe this was happening. His brother and Yang were hopeless romantics.
"That being said," Yang said grabbing David by the collar of his shirt and pulling him close, forcing him to look directly into her Lilac colored eyes, which looked back into his with a glare that would make Batman shudder.
"If you do anything to hurt my precious little sister, I will personally introduce you to my five little friends." Yang held up her other fist. "And I promise you, your relationship with them will be very, very, intimate." She stated with firey determination.
David didn't say anything but glared back at her. "Do not touch me again." He then grabs her hand and takes it off of him, much to Yang's surprise as she had a tight grip on his jacket.
"Woah your strong." Yang commented on his strength which might even match hers.
"That's what she said." Drakes jokes, causing David to glare at him, before punching his brother in the arm making him wince in pain. "Ouch."
Ruby turned to address her elder sister. "Yang, me and David are just friends." She stated firmly. Though David couldn't see her face, he could tell that she sounded flustered, not that he was any better.
Yang glanced back and forth between her sister and David. "Oh, ok. I get it." She said.
"Well…good." Ruby said, glad that mess was over with.
"You two want to take it slow." Yang said smugly.
"What!" Both Ruby and David exclaimed.
"It's ok, we totaly understand. Honestly, it's the smart thing to do." Drake said as he and Yang smiled in glee, almost becoming best friends instantly.
Ruby groaned in defeat. Whenever her sister got like this, it was impossible to change her mind. And it looks like Drake is like that too. David, on the other hand, just stood there with annoyance at how this situation came to be. Yang and Drake chuckled at both of them.
"Anyway, as I'm sure you've been told, my names Yang. Yang Xiao Long." She said holding out her hand. Drake and David took it as they shook it.
"Nice to meet you." David said
"I want to say thanks for helping Ruby out yesterday." Yang said to David.
"It's no problem, it's what I do." David stated, allowing himself a moment of humility. "But to be honest I don't even think she needed my help. She's the one who took care of the bad guys, I just tried to keep their boss from getting away." He said. Yang smiled at Ruby, "Hear that sis, he's impressed with you." She said.
Ruby, who's face had just returned to it's natural color, immediately became tomato red again as she turned away from both of them, pulled up her hood, and clamped her hands over her ears.
"I'm not listening." She said. David's shoulders drooped, Yang wasn't going to let this go, was she?
"So my adorable sister tells me you have super straight along with shooting fire out of your eyes?" Yang asked David.
"That would be correct." David said, trying to change the subject as quickly as he could.
"Care to prove it?" Yang asked. David took a look around, while the room they were in didn't have too many people, there were still a few who could potentially have a heart attack if they saw a teenage boy shooting fire out of his eyes.
"How about we wait till later?" David asked motioning his head towards the crowd. Yang sighed in disappointment. "Sure." She begrudgingly said before looking over at Drake.
"So what can you do?" Yang asks Drake.
"I coat my body in a black liquid and can stretch my limbs." Drake explains and he and David came up with a story of being able to use Venom like this. Venom loves the idea as he wants to be used more and this was the only way he can without transforming.
"Oooh." Yang said with glee. "Let's see it."
Drake nodded as he spoke in his head. "Don't do anything dramatic." He reminded the symbiote as he knows how he acts.
"Fine." Venom said with a sigh.
Drake held his hands out before black slime wrapped around it, coating his entire arm in black goo. Then Drake make his symbiote stretch his hands until it went around the four before tapping on Yang's shoulder.
"That's pretty neat." Yang complimented.
"Thanks, you should see me fighting like this." Drake said.
"Maybe we should have a one vs one to see how you do." Yang suggests.
"That'll be fun." Drake said liking the idea.
The four then began to talk as they all talked and wondered what Beacon would be like and how they will be enjoying it. That was when the news turned on to show the man from the other night on screen. "The Robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick who continues to evade authorities." The news said as a mug shot of Roman was on screen. Drake, David, Yang, and Ruby paid attention as the story continued. "If you have any information on his whereabouts please contact the Vale Police Department. Back to you Lisa." The news said before the anchorwoman appeared on screen.
"Thank you, Cyril. In other news this Saturday's Faunus Civil Rights protest turned dark when members of the white fang disrupted the ceremony." Lisa said as the screen showed an image of people with various animal features appeared, carrying protest signs and attempting to perform a protest, and a nonviolent one at that. it had the White Fangs symbol that was more of a red wolf with claw marks behind it as it didn't look in anyway white. "The once peaceful organization has now disrupted the…" Before she could finish her report, the screen blinks away, and after a few seconds, a hologram of Glynda starts to form in the various viewing galleries.
"Hello there, and welcome to Beacon Academy." She starts as her voice echoes throughout the ship. Yang glances at the glasses wearing woman.
"Who's that?" She tries to ask Ruby. The black and red haired girl turns in an attempt to answer her, but Glynda quickly speaks once more, interrupting her.
"My name is Glynda Goodwitch." She indirectly answers her.
"Oh." Yang said simply.
"You, and those among you, are a part of the rather privileged few who have received the honor of being selected into this prestigious institute of learning. You being selected to attend this prestigious academy! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it. You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world." The image spoke in a kind and gentle way that was uncharacteristic of the real Glynda, in David's opinion. Bowing once more, her hologram fades away, leaving everyone a bit more interested in the current situation.
"She wasn't like that back in the interrogation room." David said to Yang, getting a chuckle out of the blond.
Ruby gasps in awe. "That was so cool! Hey, check it out, you can see Signal from here!" Running to the front, she and Yang watch as the ever growing area of urban civilization starts to cloud their views.
"I guess home isn't that far off." Her excited nature tones down to a small smile. Yang smirks as she pats her shoulder.
"Yeah, but for now, Beacon's going to be our home." She adds.
"I can see our house from here." Drake jokes as the two brothers look at the view.
David didn't share the same humor. "That joke is so old, dude."
"First we were Avengers, who saved the world. Now we are going to a school to fight monsters. Can our lives get any more weirder?" Drake asks his little brother in a whisper so Yang and Ruby don't hear them.
"I have a feeling this will only be just the begging." David answered.
The two enjoy the view, but suddenly, the sound of someone about to vomit interrupts the peaceful moment.
A tall teenage boy with dark-blue eyes and short, messy blonde hair runs by them, clutching his mouth as he does so. Ruby notices that he wore a white diamond-shaped chest plate cut off above his lower abdomen and white spaulders with rerebraces set under them. Underneath the armor, a black short-sleeved hoodie with detached reddish-orange sleeves and a dark brown image of a bunny rabbit trimmed in white with cute black round eyes were hidden was seen underneath the chest plate. He also wore blue pants with a white patch on the left knee, as well as black sneakers with "left" and "right" written in black on the respective shoes' soles.
To finish it off, he had a longsword, which was strapped to his left hip in a sheath that doubled as a collapsible shield. He whimpers as he struggles to run out of the room, most presumably the reason being to look for a trash can or something similar to vomit out into.
"Well, the moment was fun while it lasted." Ruby shrugs. Yang nods a few times.
"…Yep. Guess the view isn't for everyone." She adds. "I wonder who we'll meet though."
"At least someone other than 'Vomit Boy'." The two agreed on that. Turning back to the view, they watch as the airships fly over a giant lake, and prepare for landing on pads in front of them…
Everything was peaceful at least until Ruby noticed something on Yang's shoes. "Oh, Yang, gross you have puke on your shoes!" Ruby called as Yang was shocked at this.
"Yuck!" Drake called out as he moved out of the way to avoid the vomit.
"Gross." Yang said and repeated as she tried to get the vomit off of her shoe as she hopped around a bit.
"Get away get away! Get away from me!" Ruby repeated as she didn't want to be near puke.
"Don't go near me." David said with disgust. "Give it to Drake."
"Why me?" Drake questioned that response.
"You deserve it." David answered simply.
