This idea popped into my head the other day, and I couldn't resist writing it up. I know it's quite unusual, but it felt like something Bella would do because, well, "why the hell not?" Please don't mind the narrator of the story, as I used it as a device to convey the passage of time. When the narrator is speaking, the text will be italicized. Sit back and enjoy a tale that spans thousands of years, all driven by a goal of utmost importance! Here is the story:

In the year 2525

Well, hello there. You might be asking yourself, "Hey, where's Bella?" or "Where's Garrett?" Don't worry; they will arrive soon. I don't really know how you should address me. I'm not god or anything, but then again, I am pretty omnipotent. I guess you should just think of me as the narrator of this little tale. I don't have a body, but I usually like to reside above the Earth and simply watch. You might ask, "Watch what?" and the truth is, really everything. I see all, but I won't lie and say I haven't taken a special interest in watching Bella and Garrett's life together. They truly are one of the most refreshing couples I have seen on your little planet.

At this moment, Bella is on the verge of initiating something that she has been planning ever since she transformed into a vampire. She is about to set in motion the first phase of her mission, a grand endeavor that will span countless millennia to accomplish. Let us shift our focus to Bella and Garrett and uncover the profound and life-changing undertaking that Bella has thought up now.

January 1st, 2525

Bella and Garrett were relaxing together in their bed. They had spent New Year's celebrating in Times Square once again. It had never lost its charm for Bella. Their current residence was in one of the new towering skyscrapers that adorned the New York City skyline. They lived on the 75th floor, and Bella loved their new digs, which they had just moved into last month. Bella had been a vampire for a little over 500 years now, and in this current reinvention of their lives, she had decided to become an author again. The last time she had taken on this career had been several hundred years ago, and she had been working on several ideas in her head all this time for new and intriguing stories to write.

They had celebrated New Year's this time with Emmett and Rosalie, who had come with their adopted daughter Sarah, who had been a vampire now for close to 60 years. Bella would have liked it if her and Garrett's son Charles or daughter Jill could have made it, but they were both on the other side of the world at the moment. They had spoken with both of them last night, and they had both promised to visit soon.

Bella smiled as she thought about this day. She had waited over 500 years to embark on what she was about to start. She knew she would be the only person in history to achieve the goal she had set her mind to accomplish.

"Garrett, I've been waiting to say something for a long time," she said, hugging Garrett before sitting up on the bed and gazing at her husband, who was shirtless and quite the sight.

"What do you have to say, honey?" Garrett asked, seeing the amusement dancing in his wife's eyes.

Bella, with a beautiful voice, began to sing:

In the year 2525, if man is still alive
If woman can survive, they may find.

Garrett looked at her for a moment and then burst into laughter. "Is that it?" he exclaimed.

Bella smiled warmly at him. "Yes, for now at least."

"Alright, Bella. I'll be on the edge of my seat, eagerly waiting," Garrett replied, pulling Bella closer to him as they indulged in more snuggling.

Well, I can understand that you were expecting something more profound from Bella, but sometimes she just likes to have fun. As the Earth continues to spin, as it always has, the years swiftly pass by, and I can see Bella and Garrett engaging in numerous adventures and savoring life's pleasures. Ah, it appears the Volturi have finally convinced Bella to become the fourth ruler. Aro had been working on Bella for centuries, but with the promise she could appear as a hologram when she wanted to get away with Garrett, she finally agreed. As the centuries unfold, I'm watching her rule, and she does have a talent for it. Vampire affairs have never reached such a pinnacle. Ah, I believe it's time to check in with Bella and Garrett for the next little part of Bella's plan.

January 1st, 3535

Volterra, Italy, was as peaceful as it had been for countless centuries. The people lived their lives as they always did, unaware that the vampire world was silently governed among them. In the grand throne room, Aro, Caius, and Marcus patiently awaited Bella's arrival before commencing the day's court session. There were no trials scheduled today; it was simply regular business.

The ornate doors swung open, and Bella and Garrett strolled in. Bella appeared casually dressed, as was her usual style. Only on rare occasions would she wear her official robe. She bestowed a kiss upon Garrett's lips and gracefully made her way to her throne beside Aro.

"Good morning, Bella. How was your and Garrett's New Year's?" Aro asked.

"Perfect, as always, Aro," Bella replied, her smile radiating towards her friends on the dais and the guard members scattered throughout the room, many of whom had been her steadfast companions for well over a millennium.

This was a special day for Bella as she was also ready to enact the second part of her plan. She spoke up in a loud, commanding voice. "Before we get started with our affairs for the day, I have something to say."

The murmurs that had filled the room ceased, and all turned their undivided attention towards Bella.

She began again in a soothing, musical voice.

In the year 3535,
Ain't gonna need to tell the truth, tell no lie
Everything you think, do and say
Is in the pill you took today

Bella stopped and smiled, looking around at those around her. Garrett and many of the older guard had smiles on their faces, clearly understanding what Bella was doing. However, some of the newer guard looked confused and probably thought she was a lunatic.

Bella chuckled, wondering what she and Garrett would be doing the next time it was time to speak the words.

Ah, it's me again, watching intently as the years swiftly unfold. Unfortunately, the human race has been enduring a tumultuous period, with wars raging on for decades. But fear not, for another century has now passed, and peace has once again embraced this little blue planet. Bella and Garrett, along with their numerous children, are faring well amidst these changing times.

Whoops, I seem to have missed Bella doing her 4545 rendition. That's okay. Sometimes I can lose concentration for a minute, and a century or two goes by. Several more centuries have elapsed, and well, that's not good. A giant asteroid has somehow gone undetected and has just flown past me, hurtling towards the Earth. Yikes! It has just impacted in the Pacific Ocean. That's not good. It looks like the entire west coast of North America is going to be wiped out. But wait, it appears Bella has saved the day once again. It will still take the world centuries to recover from this disaster, but at least Bella has saved millions of lives.

The years pass by. Vampires have revealed themselves to the world several thousand years ago. It was actually Bella who had made the announcement and conducted the first interviews. The idea had been deliberated for centuries between Bella and the other rulers, and they collectively believed it was time, given that a substitute for drinking blood had been invented ages ago.

Many more millennia have now passed. The world now enjoys a state of peace. Humans have successfully colonized the solar system, expanding their reach into the stars. Now, it's time to revisit Bella and Garrett one last time and witness the culmination of Bella's remarkable undertaking.

10,000 years later

Bella and Garrett were taking a break from the hustle and bustle of life and had spent the last year simply relaxing, traveling, and visiting their family. Their family had grown so much that they would struggle to remember everyone if they weren't vampires. Today, they found themselves in the far north of Canada, where Bella had constructed a floating castle in the sky. It served as their private sanctuary, a place where they could be alone, whether to make love for days or simply gaze at the sky while talking with each other.

"You know, Garrett," Bella said, a smile playing on her lips, "I think it's time for me to conclude my little song. Are you ready?"

"I've been waiting 10,000 years, dear. Let's hear it," Garrett replied, his smile mirroring Bella's.

With a sense of finality, Bella began for the last time, her lovely voice filling the air.

Now it's been ten thousand years
Man has cried a billion tears
For what, he never knew, now man's reign is through
But through eternal night, the twinkling of starlight
So very far away, maybe it's only yesterday

Garrett clapped when she had finished. "Well done, Bella. How does it feel to finally complete the song? Was it worth it?"

Bella smiled, a sense of fulfillment washing over her. "It was so worth it," she replied, her voice filled with contentment.

Bella couldn't help reminiscing about her human self. "I remember the year before I was changed, hearing that song on the radio. I thought that if I ever became a vampire, I would do exactly what I just did. The idea of living for 10,000 years was something that my human self couldn't truly grasp. Nevertheless, I'm glad I was able to accomplish it. I know it's beyond stupid, but hey, how else can a girl who's over 10,000 years old get her kicks?"

Garrett embraced Bella, and they settled comfortably in their bed together.

Eventually, Bella voiced her thoughts, "Now we just have to wait another 990,000 years, and I can sing 'I'd Wait A Million Years'."

The sound of Garrett's laughter reverberated through the walls of their castle in the clouds.

Well, this is where I bid you farewell, my friends. All is well for Bella and Garrett, and we shall leave them to their adventures, as they continue on, having always been and always will be "deeply in love."

Author's End Note: For those who don't know what the hell I was babbling on about, Bella was reciting the song "In the Year 2525" by Zager and Evans, and at the end, "I'd Wait a Million Years" by The Grass Roots. Both songs are well before my time, but I've always been a fan of music from the '50s and '60s.

The new story I am writing which will star Bella and Demetri is coming along well and I should probably be able to post the first chapter soon. Thanks for reading what is probably the most unusual chapter I've written so far. I always enjoy reading your feedback or reviews.
