Anne rested her head in her hand, leaning over her desk. She could barley pay attention to the teacher, as her brain was still trying to comprehend what had happened yesterday. She took a glance behind her, looking at empty desk of Dillon. She was very concerned about the murder being traced back to her, even though he was the one who attempted to kill her. She tried not to imagine wild animals feasting on his carcass.
Groaning, she looked at the clock above the white-board, ten minutes left, before she had to start her new job. Blitzø briefly went over what I.M.P. was; how they are highered by sinners to go murder humans who fuck them over when they were alive. Though she wondered if it was for revenge, or just people they hated in life? Her new boss made it out that she would "partake" in the killing, which she was hopping to talk him out of it. Anne felt her brain melt, this was way too much to prosses.
She never thought she'd hate the sound of that belle ringing. Dropping her head on her desk, groaning in dread. Jonesy raised her brow at her friend's depressing attitude. Wanting to get it over with, Anne forced herself up, throwing her backpack on her shoulder, and headed out the door.
"Dude, you ok?" Jonesy asked, quickly catching up to her.
"Yeah..." Anne muttered a reply, avoiding eye contact.
Jonesy raised her brow, not buying it, "Really? cause you look like you sold her soul to the devil."
Oh God, why did she say that? Anne groaned, hating that she wasn't too far off, "It's just been... a really shitty week." Was the best way to put it.
Jonesy blinked, "Oh um... sorry." While she cared for her friend, she also knew when to give her space. As they walked out of school, Jonesy thought, that maybe a distraction would help her stress? "Do you want to go to the arcade?"
Anne frowned, looking to the ground. That offer was so tempting, and would really help ease her stress. But, as much as she wanted to to say 'go fuck yourself' to her new boss, she didn't want to risk her life over videogames. Sighing out, turned back to her friend, giving her a sad smile, "Can't, sorry I have... family matters... to deal with..." She tried to lie, while also sort-of telling the truth.
Jonesy looked at her friend with concern, "Is everything alright?"
"Y-Yeah, totally, it's just-" Anne with held her voice, wanting so bad to tell her friend the truth, to have this weight off if by only a little. But, she didn't want to put her friend nor her family in danger, "I have my own baggage."
Jonesy frowned, but let it go, "O-Ok... Um. Then see you tomorrow?" She asked.
"Yep, see ya Jons." Anne waved, going ahead, leaving her friend to walk alone.
Once she turned down the sidewalk, she hurried to find a hiding spot. Then she remembered and old house that had been abandon for years. She ran passed a few more houses, till she found the sad little hut, covered in dirt and plants. Perfect. Jumping over the broken fence, Anne looked the side of the house, tucked away from prying eyes.
Looking around first, making sure no one was around, before pulling her left sleeve up. Her reflection shined in the red crystal, "Ok... hopefully this works." Taking a deep breath, Anne held up her wrist, pointing the crystal forward. It glowed a bright red, before shooting a ball of light out, it formed into a small human-size portal in front of her. Squeezing the straps of her backpack, she looked back, before awkwardly stepping through.
Inside I.M.P. office, Blitzø kept glancing at the time on his phone, while his foot tapped impatiently. He was in serious boss mode, which to his employees, was very odd and a little uncomfortable.
"Relax Blitzø, Anne will be here any second." Millie tried to reassure her boss.
"Yeah, I don't remember you being this serious on our first day." Moxxie pointed out.
"Late on her first fuckin day!" He growled, pointing to the wall, "If she doesn't enter through that wall in the next five seconds-" Like perfect timing, a portal opened behind behind them, and the human stumbled in.
Anne quickly caught her footing before falling, "S-Sorry I'm late!" She stumbled, as her little portal closed behind her.
"Well, it's about time, miss missy!" Blitzø snarked, not quite sounding like a boss, and more like a disappointed dad, "You know you're suppose to punch in at 3pm!" Shoving his phone in her face, showing she was two minutes late.
Anna frowned, pushing the phone down, she stood back up, towering over the imp, "And I told you, that I have school for five days of the week! I get out the same time you expect me to be here. Not to mention, I have to find a hiding spot so no one see's a girl open a portal to the demon realm."
"You could have texted that, I gave you our numbers." Blitzø snarked, still trying to place the blame on her.
"Yeaaah, about that." Anne dropped her backpack on the ground, and pulled out her phone, "When you gave me your contact information, it shows that it doesn't exist." Holding up her phone to his face.
Moxxie walked over, narrowing his eyes at the phone, "Hmm, we might need to get you a hPhone."
"Wait, I need a phone from Hell just to contact you guys?" Anne groaned, she wasn't even getting pay for doing this job, how the hell was she suppose to afford a brand new phone?!
Blitzø sighed in frustration, pinching he bridge between his eyes, "Christ on a stick... All right, you can use Loona's old one for now." Reaching into his pocket he pulled out a used phone with a crack screen, and tossed it to the human.
Anne fumbled to catch it mid-air, holding it tight, she stared at the old hand me down. It looked just like a regular Earth phone, but with a pentagon logo on the back. It was reset for her, making her set up a band-new account. Her eyes lit up in awe, going through at the slightly familiar apps, "Woah..."
"All right! Enough screwing around, you're now on the clock!" Blitzø snapped.
Anne sighed, stuffing her second phone in her jacket, "Alright, let's get this over with." She was ready to walk through another portal, when her boss suddenly shoved a finger in front of her face, halting her.
"NOT, before you watch the employee video."
The Hell Maiden blinked, "The what now?"
~~ 2 HOURS LATER~~
~"Kids die for FREEEE!"~ Anne sat on the couch, staring at the old TV, trying to wrap her head on what she just watched. Honestly, it went in one ear and out the other, as her brain slowly fried with the annoying jingle, that would defiantly be stuck in her head for the next few days.
Off to the side, Blitzø inched closer to the human, seemly waiting to here her citric, "Soooo?"
Anne was silent for a moment, before bluntly saying, "Well, that's two hours of my life I'm never getting back." Standing up from her seat, she stretched her arms over her head.
Blitzø scoffed, "Clearly, you don't jack-shit about classic musical numbers." Acting like her comment meant nothing. (though it kinda did)
"Every time that damn jingle plays, a kitten dies somewhere." Anne laid down a harsh burn, which actually got a smirked out of Loona. But while the comment was rude and her boss looked like he was ready to break every bone in her body, Anne placed her hand under her chin, thinking, "You need something that's more modern, something that doesn't sound like it's form the 50s."
The three imps blinked, glancing at each other, "That... actually sounds intriguing." Moxxie nodded, for he too found the jingle annoying.
"And for the record, boss," Anne shot a challenging glare at Blitzø, "I was in the theater club when I was a freshman, and I play both drums and guitar. So yeah, I know a thing or two about musical numbers."
Blitzø couldn't tell if his red-face was from anger or embarrassment. When was the last time he let a kid be a smart-ass in front of him? Oh, he was gonna make sure he gave her a shitty job next time for that, "Alright! Stop your bitching, we have work to do!" Quickly changing the subject.
As soon as he announced work, and knowing what came from that, Anne fell off her high-horse, as stress began to take over. Beads of sweat ran down the side of her face, "U-Uh- yeah um, about that. I was wondering if maybe I could just stay here and do office work, with Loona?" She pointed her thumb to the hellhound, who kept her eyes glued to her phone.
Blitzø quickly shot her down, "No, Loona is perfect at that, and is very territorial around her space." The hellhound growled low, giving the human a warning, "And we need an extra hit-man. You knew what you were getting into when your granny decided to ditch you."
"Hey, it was this, or getting shot!" Anne argued back, leaning down towards her boss, "And Abuela didn't ditch me!"
"Don't forget you owe us one grand!" Blitzø shouted, the two crashed their faces together, sparks flying from their glares. The M&Ms watched from the sidelines, finding the human interesting to not back down from Blitzø.
After a few seconds of staring, Anne sighed in defeat, "Fine." Standing back up, making Blitzø lean over and fall, "What does the client want?"
The imp quickly stood back up, dusting himself off, "The creep said the dickwad did some kind of sacrifice shit to him. Needs to be brought down."
"But, if you kill them, don't they just end up here? What's the point of killing someone if they... 'live' again?" Anne asked, the logic of the underworld was very confusing.
"That's not our fucken problem. We kill the assholes, then it's their problem whether they want to deal with the baggage." Blitzø shrugged it off, "Now, let's bag this bitch while it's still daylight."
Anne frowned, as her boss walked past her, towards the hellhound. Loona pull out a mysterious blue book with a insignia on the cover. As she opened it, the pages flipped on their own, and a large portal opened by the wall. So that's how they were able to find me... Anne gasped in awe.
"Hey, human, what's the hold up?" Blitzø barked, snapping his finger to get her attention.
Anne groaned, really not wanting to go, "Could I at least, have a disguise? I don't want to be traced back to a murder that I didn't do."
"She dose have a point, sir." Moxxie stepped in, "Human's are very serious when it comes to justice, we can't let her be found." Pointing at her attire.
"Oh for fuck's sake..." Blitzø grumbled, "FINE! Wait here." Stomping to his office.
"In the mean time, we should figure out what weapon would best suit your style." Moxxie turned to Anne, who looked very worried.
Millie rested her fingers on her chin, looking the Hell Maiden up and down, "Hmm, maybe something easy to start out with." Turning to her husband, who nodded.
"Smart; a revolver would work. Then again, her grandma did say she has powers... So we might have to try out different kinds that fit her abilities."
"Don't I get a say in this..?" Anne whined, feeling sick to her stomach.
Blitzø shoved open his office door, stomping over, with a fast-food paperbag, and a dirty burlap sack he cut three holes for the head and arms, "All right, this will have to do for now. Next time you have to come up with your own, got it?"
Anne cringed back at the smelly paperbag and stained sack. Dios, ten piedad de mí...
As the three imps and poorly disguised human stepped out of the portal, the atmosphere around them quickly heated up; the bright sun burning down above them. The the imps complained about the heat, but Anne was having the worst of it. The smell from the paper bag she wore over her face intensified, and burlap sack itched all over.
"Maldita sea..." Anne cursed, peeking through the eye-holes, "I'm gonna get hives from this..."
"Quick you're whining you're on the clock." Blitzø snapped, looking over his shoulder to glare at her, "All right, the guy said the prick who killed him was part of an organization, in a big white building. Should be down the street from here."
"K, cool, I'll stand guard, and leave the killing to the professionals." Anne quickly stated, leaning back against a building wall, crossing her arms. unfortunately, her boss and work colleagues ignored her idea, and started to walk ahead. And seeing is how she was God knows where, and still trying to figure out her asmodean crystal bracelet, she had no other choice but to follow.
The group of weirdos walked down the empty streets, Anne was in the back, right behind Moxxie. leaning down and whispered to the white-haired imp, "Hey dude... Moxxie was it? You seem like the most reasonable one here-"
"Thank you for noticing." Moxxie took a compliant when he can.
"Y-Yeah, so then, could you maybe tell you boss that this is insane?!"
Moxxie sighed, turning back to the Hell Maiden, "Look, Anne, I get that your stress, but like it or not you're now apart of I.M.P. until your debt is paid off."
Anne's brow twitched, "Oh ok, so I'm just suppose to go against everything I was brought up believe, and just fucking murder someone that I never knew existed?!" She raised her voice ever so slightly.
"Don't worry," Millie walked slower, till she right by them, "The first few kills are always the hardest. Pretty soon, it will be like as simple as drinking water."
Is there no one here with a conscience?! Anne screamed in her mind.
Suddenly, they heard someone gasp out, "¡Oh Dios mío!." Anne quickly looked to her side, where a middle age woman quickly crossed the street, walking over to her. She wondered why the look of consern was in her eyes, "Do you need help." She asked, suddenly taking Anne's hands.
"O-Oh uh..." Anne tried to lean back from the stranger who had invaded her personal space. Looking to the side, she noticed the imps had vanished into the alleyway behind her, hiding in trash-cans, she was all alone now. She turned back to the woman, she sheepishly smiled under the bag, "Muchas gracias, but I'm ok."
She had hopped the woman would get the hint, but that wasn't the case, "Oh pobrecito, a school drop out and already on the streets."
I'm still in school, lady. And why are you acting like I'm a drug addict? Anne frowned. That is, until she remembered what she was wearing; paperbag and burlap sack. Oh shit...
"I'm part of a charity at the local church, we help people who are looking for guidance. Would you be interested in finding redemption? Starting a new and better life?" She asked, the look of concern got stronger, almost like she was tearing at Anne's heart.
"Umm, I'm not..." Anne turned back into the alley, Blitzø peeked out from the dumpster, giving her a thumbs up, while waving his other hand, telling her to follow the women. In a moment of panic, Anne looked at the woman, "S-Sure?"
The woman smile widened, "¡Maravillosa! Come, it's just down the street." Taking Anne's hand as she guided her. The Imps slowly following behind.
The sun had slowly began to set, when the two women arrived at their destination; an old church, with a small cemetery around the yard. Anne gazed up at tall white building. But once they she pasted the gates, she felt a sudden cold shutter go down her spine. Anne cringed, she had never felt that before, it was almost like a warning, that she was not welcomed here, and also she was in great danger. But she couldn't pulled back now. The woman opened one of the large wooden doors, walking her inside. Anne took one final looked outside, feeling like it would be her last sunset.
The imps sneaked around the cemetery, ducking behind gravestones. They watched as their human disappeared behind the wooden doors, "K, now what?" Millie asked. Blitzø leaded the way to the side of the church, jumping up to peek through the many windows. They had a clear view of Anne.
The inside was much larger then it looked; the aisle was long and wide, with dozens of long benches. Huge chandeliers hung from wooden beams on the ceiling. And in the far back, tall stain-glass windows shined over the pulpit. Walking in, Anne noticed different stands around the building, serving food and supplies to people who needed help, as well as a restorative circle.
Standing at the pulpit, stood a middle age man in white robes, a blue stole with two large white crosses on both sides. He was talking to another man, who was getting blessed.
"The Lord blesses you, cleanses your soul." The priest spoke, holding one of the man's hand, while doing the sign of the cross. The man was on his needs, trembling, "In the name of the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen. " The man took in a sharp breath, throwing his head up, his eyes shines bright. The priest smiled, "Now stand brother, for you are cleansed."
The man gasped in relief, like he had just ran a marathon, his legs trembled, needing help to stand, "Thank you father Willum!" Grasping the priest hands, bowing his head.
"Your past is behind, you can now begin your new life." The priest smiled. The man gave a final head bow, before letting go and walking down the aisle.
Anne watched in shock, as the man passed her. While he did seem happier, the look in his eyes told a different story, he looked like he was possessed... The woman kept guiding (more like pulling) her toward the priest.
In the past, walking into churches and talking to Christians weren't that big of a deal, but now knowing her families backstory, and how she's basically a spawn of a demon, made this seemly kind man who just wanted to help people, feeling like the most dangerous person in the room.
"Father Willum, I found this young girl wondering the streets." The woman who dragged Anne into this mess explained. Though the way she explained the situation, didn't sound like sincere generosity, and more seemed like she wanted browning points from her leader. She couldn't see Anne face under the bag, but she was giving her a "are you kidding me, bitch?" look.
The priest stepped forward, getting into Anne's personal space. His smiled down at her, making it look genuine, but at the same time ingeminating. For a moment, Anne wondered if he could actually sense she was a Hell Maiden? He held out his hand to her, "Welcome young lady, to our community: The White Cross."
Anne was about to gasped in terror, but withheld her breath. Her eyes went wide in fear. She felt that same type of terror when Dillon tried to kill her, only this time she was surrounded by multiple followers. Then, she noticed the inside of her paperbag begin to turn red; her eyes were sparking a glow. She panicked, trying to shut them tight, N-Nooo! Don't see! Get it under control!
The imps gapped in shock, "Oh shit." Blitzø cured, first day on the job and they just set his new employee to the slaughter house.
Anne felt herself hyperventilate, her brain was screaming at her to run, but her body wouldn't move. Sweat was boring down her face, and she was thankful that the smelly bag was masking it. "I-I-I... uh.." She peeked one eye open, looking between the man's face, and his hand, as he waited for her to take it, "S-S Sorry... I-I'm very... uh- self-conscious. Y-Your lordship..?"
The priest smile never wavered, but instead of dropping the hand, he placed it on her shoulder, feeling her tense up, she kept her head down, "You don't have to be afraid nor ashamed, young one. The White Cross always believes in second chances."
I need to get out of here, I need to get out of here, I need to get OUT OF HERE! Panic played in Anne's mind over and over. Then she notice he was reaching for her paperbag. That snapped her out, and she quickly moved away, pulling the bag down further over her head.
"I-I - I uh..." Her fear was at a new height, but she had to remind her self to get it under control, she couldn't run at the moment, and also that she still had a job to do. Swallowing, Anne found her voice again, "I-I would appreciate the help, sir." The three imp gaped at her strong-will, while the priest smile slightly grew, "But, if it's alright, I'd like to keep my bag on for now. Not... quite there yet." She shrugged, praying to however that he would buy it.
Thankfully, the man did not push further, "Of course, redemption isn't instant, take as much time as you need. Remember, we do not judge here, this is a safe place."
"Yeah, until you find out what she is." Blitzø muttered. The Hell Maiden saved her skin, but she was still in a death-trap. And Blitzø, being the sort-of good boss and person he was, had to think of a way of getting her out alive. (for the money of course)
"There he is!" Millie suddenly pointed through the window, at a man in his early 30s, offering clothes and blankets to everyone who needed some.
Anne felt relived as the priest went to walk others, her shoulders dropped ever so slightly, "Come, we have clothes you can change into." The woman who brought her, lead her over to the clothing stand.
Not seeing an easy exit, Anne had no choice but to follow. Suddenly, the hPhone in her pocket started to buzz. Carefully, she pulled her arm back inside the sack and peeked at her new phone. Blitzø had texted.
"U see the blon in blu? Thatz ur turgat" With an added target emoji.
Anne raised her brow at the imp's shitty text spelling, looking at the man behind the stand. Panicking again, she quickly texted back.
"You want me to do it?!"
"Ur the closet 1!"
"I DON'T HAVE A WEAPON!"
Blitzø growled, "Fuckin- do I have to do everything?" Looking around the building, he took notice of higher windows. Like possums, the imps climbed the walls, carefully breaking a one open, they let themselves in. Balancing on the wooden beams, they stood right above Anne. Moxxie then pulled out a spare revolver. Blitzø texted Anne back.
"Heds up, Hell Maid." Anne raised her brow, looking up, only to see a revolver falling towards her face. Panicking, she tried to catch it mid-air, fumbling with it. She tucked in into her jacket, praying no one saw that.
She walked closer to the target, with one shaking hand grasping the gun, I can't do this...! There's no way!
Once she was directly in front of the man he turned his attention to her, "How can I help you?" he smiled, oblivious to what was about to happen.
Anne's anxiety was at it's highest, she was having trouble breathing, and her eyes flickered red, "I-I... um..." She looked up at the imps, as her boss moved his finger across his neck, giving her the order. But in a panic, She blurted out, "Is there a bathroom here?!" Blitzø slapped his face.
The man was a little taken aback but her shout, but pointed down the aisle, "It's to the left."
"¡Muchas gracias, solo será un minuto!" Seeing her opening, she ran down the aisle, before locking herself in the bathroom. Sitting up on the toilet seat, she curled herself in a ball, baring her face in. Trying to calm her heart rate from having a hear attack, with slight tears forming in her eyes, "I can't do this... I just want to go home..."
"Well, that was to be expected." Moxxie frowned. Though, he didn't blame the poor girl bailing form having a panic attack, "Now what, sir?"
Blitzø only grumbled under his voice, "Christ fuckin..." Dragging his hand down his face. Ok, so the human bailed, fine. They've been killing humans for months now, they have a job to do. Pulling out his sniper rifle, he focused on their target.
Though Moxxie, for the first time doing this job, felt an uncomfortable twinge of worry in his gut. Human's had never been a threat to him or his coworkers, they had no power over them, and they worked in the shadows, without ever being seen. But now with the added Hell Maiden, being in the same building as her sworn enemy, was having him second guessing the mission. Anne hadn't been found out yet, although after seeing her run, it would only be a matter of time. And if this was how she was gonna react every time they went to Earth, the weight of her owing them money, didn't outweigh the fear that she was gonna get them killed. Super abilities or not, she was still just a mortal kid.
His over reacting started taking over, knowing full well that right now, wasn't a good time to talk about it. But, he went for it, "Sir, if I may, I think it's in our best interest and safety that we leave the premises. Clearly, we're in a more dangerous situation then we realize. The Hell Maiden is surrounded by enemies, if they find out what she is, we-"
"That's Hell Maiden baggage." Blitzø cut him off, not looking away from the target.
Moxxie frowned, he wouldn't be shrugged off this time, "Well that was before we highered one, sir. And now we're stuck in the middle of a White Cross lair, her sworn enemy. You still think it's a smart idea to keep her?"
Blitzø finally pulled away from his rifle, challenging Moxxie's glare, "You want to kiss fuckin thousand dollars down the shit-hole?!
Moxxie narrowed his eyes, his own anger building up, "Hey, I told you highering her was a bad idea!"
As the two males argued, Millie kept watching the target, taking notice that he had moved, and was now just under the giant chandelier. Seeing an opportunity, she scurried across the beams, towards the chandelier and pulled out her knife. Beginning to saw the rope.
After a little bit of crying, Anne took some deep breaths to help calm down. She still felt sick to the stomach, being force to kill another human, and being in the most dangerous place for her kind. Stepping off the toilet, she walked over to the sink, and stared at herself in the mirror above it. Finally taking off the paperbag. Her irises were still glowing red, and she didn't know how to turn them off.
"So that what Dillion meant." She frowned; staring at herself, she felt like she was looking at a complete stranger. Even though she reminded herself that this doesn't change who she was; how this little thing that she apparently always had was not that big of a deal, and she could just push through it, like everything else she's had to over come, She knew that it was a lie, "What am I even doing here. I'm stuck in this fuckin mess because Abuela didn't bother paying her fee." Some grandma she had. But... as shitting as her boss was, and this hole nightmare, they did save her life, and she got to see her abuela again.
Sighing, Anne narrowed her glowing eyes at her reflection, "Whether you like it or not, this is now apart of you. So, you can either run and hide, or grab it by the balls." Her anxiety slowly fizzled out, and she felt a little bit more confidant. Did that mean she was ready to finish the mission?
Fuck no.
But, she could find other ways to pay off her debt, she just had to be creative! Taking in a deep breath, she put the bag over her head again, and exited the bathroom. She started to power-walk towards the the only exit in the building. Only by then, the man-target was now in the middle of the aisle talking to father Willum. Mierda..! Anne cursed, trying to walk to the side, hopping that they would ignore her.
But unfortunately, the priest took notice of her quick leave and cut in front of her, halting Anne in her tracks, "Are you feeling better, miss?" He asked in a worried tone.
Anne froze in fear, as the tall man, stood in her way of freedom. Her eyes widened again, seeing the glow from the paperbag, she couldn't control it! And she was now directly in front of the cult leader!
"Uh- actually I-I-" She looked all around trying to avoid his gaze, paying he could see. Suddenly, she heard a whistle. Looking above, Anne gaped at the sight of Millie waving her hand to get her attention, and of the chandelier falling directly above them, "Oh SHIT!" Anne leaped back.
The priest raised his brow, looking up, gasping in shock, he quickly jumped out of the way. The target however, was too late to react, he could only watch, as the giant chandelier crushed his body into a bloody mess. Anne went into a tumble, hitting the pulpit. Slowly sitting on her knees she looked in horror at the mutilated body, she had now witness two murders in under 48 hours! Suddenly, her paperbag felt hot, one of the flames of the candles flew at her lighting paper on fire. Panicking, she quickly ripped it off her face, as well as the sack, letting them burn into ash.
Like a mic-drop, everyone went silent, shocked and terrified of the kill. The lit candles flew all around, quickly catching fire to everything. Everyone screamed and run for their lives. The priest's robe was caught under the broken chandelier, ripping the fabric, and patting the flames off his clothing. He looked in horror at the dead man's body as it burned, then turned to Anne, finally seeing her true form. Gasping at the sight of her glowing red eyes, "A Hell Maiden..?!"
Back on the high ground, the imps watched from above at their chaos, "Nice work Mills." Blitzø smiled, though the smoke from the fires were clouding their bodies.
"Sir, I think it's time to leave!" Moxxie coughed.
"Where's the human?" Blitzø squinted his eyes, looking for their Hell Maiden.
"There!" Millie pointed down. The priest had backed Anne into a corner, "We gotta get to her!"
"We're not letting her get off her debt that easily!" Blitzø yelled, quickly climbing down.
Anne tried to cover her mouth, the smoke was filling the aisle very quickly, and the brick walls trapped the fire inside, turning it into an oven. She quickly pulled out her hPhone and started texting Blitz, "K he's dead! Lets GO!"
But then, a shadow covered her form. Looking up, she saw the priest tower over her; his gentle-fake smile was gone, now leaving hatred and disgusts. Anne leaned back, slowly backing up on the ground, as the man slowly walk towards her.
"I can't believe I didn't realize sooner... To think, that I let a disgusting, unclean vermin in my walls." He spat.
"Hey, rude!" Anne snapped back. The man ripped off a stoles around his robe, and removed the baggy chasuble. What he pulled out behind his back, struck fear in Anne's soul; a long cross-spear, the staff was a solid gold, lined with three steal blades making a deadly cross at the end, "... Where the fuck were you hiding that?" She couldn't help but ask.
"I haven't used this in over twenty years... I have lost count of the nameless witches I have slaughtered with it's holy blade." The priest monologue, grazing the blade with his finger, a small trickle of blood ran down the weapon, "How fitting, that it's last final battle, would be to take the life of the bitch who destroyed our paradise!" Raising it above his head, he swung down.
Anne screamed, tuck and rolling away, the blade stuck the ground, shattering the wood. Anne quickly stood back up, finally pulling out her revolver, and pointed it at him. Her eyes were blazing crimson, she couldn't tell if she was now seeing red, or it was the fames that were getting bigger.
The priest turned psycho- demon hunter, pulled the spear up, glaring daggers at the young woman, who was shaking. She couldn't relax her hands as the gun weaved all around. This is you chance now estúpida! He trying to fuckin KILL YOU! Her brained scream for her to defend herself, having a now reasonable purpose to shoot.
But as she was panicking, trying to take the shot, Anne wondered if there was another way. Yes, he was a leader of the White Cross, yes he was trying to kill her. But, what if they talked it out? It always worked in the movies, maybe it they took a moment...? It sounded stupid, but she wanted to try saving what little of humanity she had left.
"Why..." She began, coughing a little from the smoke, "Why do I have to die! I never did anything wrong! I never asked for this! Are you seriously gonna kill me because I'm the descendant of a demon worshiper?!"
She hoped - no, prayed that he would listen to her, that they wouldn't have to fight. He believed in second chances, why not give her one?! But the man didn't give it a second thought, didn't even blink. "Your fate was sealed the moment you were born. There is no redemption to unholy sinners who threaten his Lordship." Anne gaped in shock, he had made up his mind longer then she was alive. Walking up to her, he swung the spear again, "If you want redemption, then die by my blade!"
Anne quickly ducked again. She moved her leg up and side-kicked the priest. He stumbled back, his glare locked on her. Her body trembled, not in fear, but in rage, "That is such BULLSHIT!" Anne's eyes glowed with fury, her hands stopped shaking, taking aim at his chest, "I'm not gonna die... NOT TO THE LIKES OF YOU!" Taking in the last bit of air in the church, she screamed at the top of her lugs, "¡ASÍ QUE ARREPIÉNTETE, HIJO DE PUTA!" And shot, right as he brought the spear down.
Thankfully, bullets were faster. The priest breath was cut short, as the bullet hit him square in the chest. Pain quickly set in, as his muscles broke. Dropping the spear, he landed on his knees, pressing his hands over the wound to stop the bleeding.
Anne was trying to take deep breaths through the smoke. Her legs almost gave out, but then she felt a form press up against her back, giving her support.
"Hey, no fainting on the first job!" Moxxie grunted, trying to keep the weight of a 130 pound teenager up.
Anne gasped, looking down to see the imps by her side, "You guys..." Standing straight, to give Moxxie a rest.
"Let's get the fuck out of here already!" Blitzø yelled, running toward a window, pulled out his pistol and shot a window, shattering the glass.
But as the group ran for their exit, Willum's dying cough, made Anne turn back. She couldn't help but look at him with pity, for she was the reason he was gonna die there. With his last breath, he glared saying, "Do not... think you have one, witch..." He coughed up blood, raising his bleeding hand up, pointing at her, "Where there is one, there are thousands... We will find you, and your fate will be far worse then death..." He leaned forward, dying in a pool of his blood, and burning rubble fell all around him.
His words struck Anne to her core, She would have stayed frozen if not her boss screaming at her to move her ass. Not taking another look back, Anne leaped through the window, the fames almost catching up to her.
The three imps and Hell Maiden ran passed the cemetery, stopping outside of the gates. Turning back to see the fire burst out of the windows and wooden doors. Anne was lost for words on what just happened, her rage finally died, her eyes turned back to normal. She dropped to her knees, unable to look away at the destruction she cased.
Finally Blitzø broke the silence, "Wow, twenty kills on your first day, that's a new recorded!" He smiled, actually giving Anne praise for causing mass genocide. Though she didn't hear him, as she was still comprehending what the fuck just happened.
Oh my God... they're gonna come after me... Anne hugged her legs together, hyperventilating.
"Hey, don't worry kid. Like we said, it get's easer over time." Her boss patted her on the back, as he tried to reassure her, before calling Loona to let them back in to Hell.
Anne's shoulder dropped, "Does it though?" The sounds of the portal opening behind got their attention. She watched her boss and colleagues walked in the portal before her. Standing up slowly on her shaking feet, the Hell Maiden took one last look at the church as it began to crumble down, and the sounds of sirens were getting closer. Sighing, she stepped through the portal, as it closed behind her.
It was barley past midnight in the Lust Ring. Neon lights shined through the window, lighting the dim room. In a large bed, a slender figure moved in the sheets, raising her phone above her head. Her lazy eyes scrolled through the NEWS app, stopping when she saw an article about a burning church in New Mexico.
"Hmm…" She frowned, slowly sitting up, the sheets fell down her naked form.
"What are you looking at~?" A deep, lustful voice ask to her right side. The large figure moved closer to her, resting his large arm on top of the pillow, behind her.
"One of the White Cross lairs has fallen." She replied back, not looking up from her screen.
Animatronic arms wrapped around her body, up her hips and torso, the hands resting in her shoulders. The figure to her left leaned close to her head, looking at her phone, "What'ya think it means~." He grinned.
"It means…" Narrowing her brows together, her irises glowed green, "A new Maiden has arrived."
No, I did not horribly miss spell Blitz texts, that is how he actually texts in the series. Good example is Season 2 Episode 4.
