They was sitting on the floor. Each of them was occupied with something else. Sasuke was going through scrolls with information he found, and Sakura was answering letters from friends.
Three months - that was how long it had been since Sasuke had returned to the village, and a month and a half since they had left. Sakura wondered if everything was happening too fast. But all in all, why should it when they had time to make up for lost years?
What did they seem to be waiting for?
"We'll stay here until tomorrow and then head south. I need to check something out there."
"Okay." Sakura put the last letter in the envelope. She moved over to Sasuke to hand him the letters.
Sasuke took them from her, mussing Sakura's hand in the process. He lifted his head and gazed into her eyes. Sakura could barely breathe. Again, it was the same tension she was experiencing more and more often. However, she never did anything about it.
"Sakura, I..." he tried to say something, but couldn't get the words out of his mouth.
"I know." she answered quickly and without waiting any longer pressed her lips to his. She already knew.
This was what they had been waiting for since he returned. On sinking into each other's arms, heedless of the world around them.
