The final stretch
*at Warehouse 65*
Spider-man jumps down as he enters the warehouse and checks his surroundings seeing more symbiote generators and a few of the creations guarding the door to the next part of the building. "Ahh, more symbiote looks like the old spider-luck is still holding out. It looks like that's my way down further, but first, I need to destroy these generators."
Spidey gets into action by attacking the symbiote and quickly takes out one of the devices before it can create more than necessary. "Looks like the last of these generators; for now, time to adventure forth." Spider-man states after taking out the other device. Going through a hidden passage, Spidey annoyingly comes across more generators that he needs to take out, along with more symbiote monsters. Afterward, Spider-man continues forward, entering an air ventilation shaft, and is about to jump down until his spider-sense activates, causing him to stop.
Spidey quickly realizes why his senses went off when he looks down, saying, "Thank you, Spider-sense for I would hate to become sliced up by the conveniently placed fans down there." Spidey notices an entry platform he can leap on and swiftly lands on it to go further into the vent. He drops down a long way until he crashes a small ceiling block.
"Whew, what a rush!" Spider-man yelps in excitement. In front of him is a security door that Peter assumes will lead into some lab, but he wonders how far down this facility goes.
"You got to be kidding," Spider-man mutters once he sees what's behind the door and checks his new surroundings. "Okay, recap; a couple of feet underwater, electrified floors and walls, and deadly turrets pointing straight at me! Yep, my day keeps on getting better and better." Spidey's new scenery looks to have been built underground near open water somewhere with the wall and ceiling set up with electric traps and turrets would mean someone was ready if Spidey or maybe another superhero would try to break inside.
"Another hero huh? Thanks to Jessica, maybe whoever runs this facility expected the Avengers to stop them. Ugh, I can't think about that focus web-head." Spidey shakes off the negative thoughts and navigates through the passway dodging and taking out the turrets, trying to stop him and avoiding getting electrocuted by traps. He soon finds his way to the next part of the so-call warehouse, like a vast laboratory with five different rooms to go.
"This must be where the fog is coming from. Who is behind all this?" Spider-man wonders and proceeds to the room with a sign stating the security control. He assumes that this room will have some controls to stop the fog from pouring out anymore.
"Ha, we have a winner." Spidey enters the room to see a pleasant yet shocking familiar face lock up in a cage.
"Spidey! I'm so happy to see you!" The former cat thief Black Cat cheers seeing Spider-man again after who knows how long while moving her body to some club music.
"Black Cat!? What are you doing!? Who um wait, why are you dancing?" Spider-man questions with confusion and tries not to stare at how Black Cat's hips move side to side.
"Your guess is as good as mine. The guys in the ambulance must have drug me because I woke up here and can't stop dancing." Black Cats pleads when she notices Spidey staring down at her. Not letting old habits die, Black Cat adds more seduction to her routine, which helps snap Spider-man out of his trance.
"Um okay, Cat, but how," Spidey asks, getting his focus back on her eyes.
"If you can shut the power, the music should stop so I can escape and stop dancing." Black Cat answers in a bit of a tired tone.
"You got it." Spider-man looks to his left, see a switch and hurries to turn it off. Instead of turning the music off, all the button did was open up the other rooms. "So much for that, but it's one step closer to freeing Cat, for she must be super tired from constantly moving. I hope she's not mad that I was checking in on her; my mind is already confused enough."
Spider-man rushes out to one of the other lab rooms, where a holographic sign is up stating port status. "Bingo, if I read this right, this panel controls the exhaust ports. If I can change the ports part without stopping the fog flow, it will be like a banana in a tailpipe, which ought to pull the power too." Testing his theory, Spidey pushes the button, and the reaction happens as he figures, yet he still has to activate the other rooms for the big explosion to occur. After doing the same in the other rooms, all the pipe openings close down, causing them to blow up, stopping the gas and freeing Black Cat.
"Yes, that did it! Spider-man cheers, now meeting up with Black Cat in the middle of the hallway.
"Thanks Spider; whatever you did, it worked." She says, giving him a grateful hug.
"Hey what else is Spider-man for if I can't help you stop dancing? Speaking of that, sorry for um, staring a bit." Spider-man blushes behind the mask, recalling his action towards Cat earlier during the hug.
Black Cat giggles before releasing him over how cute Spidey still is when he gets all shy. "It's okay. A part of me likes that you still find me that attractive. However, I don't think Johnny or Jessica would be down for a four-way."
Hearing Jessica's name shifts Spidey's mood as he mutters with his arms folded, "At least you still have Johnny to entertain."
"Huh, what do you mean? Did something happen with Jessica?" Black Cat asks with concern.
Spidey mentally groans because he doesn't want to discuss his dilemma with Spider-woman, especially during a high-risk mission. At the same time, talking to someone he cares about will help him find some clarity before the upcoming fight. "I don't have a lot of time to explain in dept, but to make a long story short, I found out Jessica was dating me as part of her secret mission to see if I was good enough to be a part of the avengers. Apparently, during her time with me, she claims to have a change of heart about me, but I don't know since she lied to me in the first place."
Black Cat processes the situation before giving a solid response. "Spider, I won't lie and say if things were different, this would be the time I convince you she's no good and claims you as mine. Since I want to see how things progress with Johnny, I want the same with you, so I think you should consider giving Jessica another shot."
Spider-man shakes his head in disbelief, not believing what he just heard. "I'm sorry, did all that dancing tire out your head?"
"Be serious and hear me out. You remember how I was during my stealing days; whether we dated or not, you saw good in me and gave me chances. I can somewhat understand where Jessica was coming from, but if she felt that bad and wants to make it right with you, I would say it worth trying to work things out." Black Cat explains as best she can. Sure she likes being with Johnny right now; however, there's always that soft spot for Peter with their history. When Black Cat sees how concerned Peter is towards Jessica, she can tell something is growing between the two that has progressed since she saw Peter.
Peter then thinks about his former love's advice which says a lot considering who it came from. A small part of him figures that Felicia would try to win his heart; instead, she pushes him towards Jessica, showing that Felicia has matured. As far as Jessica is concerned, Felicia has some fair points, and the fact that Jessica tried to regain his heart has some meaning. "I will keep that in mind. In the meantime, you should head out and recover, and I will find out whose behind this operation." He suggests not wanting to waste more time.
Black Cat nods understandably despite her wishes to help Spider-man; she's not in the best shape. "You got it, and I will try to contact Johnny and come back as soon as possible." She then takes off towards the exit while Spider-man runs into the Research Facilities hallway, where he should find the mastermind. As he gets closer, a blinding light followed by two shadow-like figures appears with a sinister laugh echoing in the room.
"Listen, whoever you are! No one can control the symbiotes, no one!" Spider-man announces, ready to see who started all of this nonsense.
"You're a fool if you think I can't control the symbiotes, Spider-man." The bright lights shut out, revealing the two villains that Spider-man can't believe it was them the whole time.

Authors note: Sorry it took so long to get this next update out, but we are getting towards the final few parts of this story. Yes, this was more of a filter chapter to show that the story is still alive and that I plan to finish it at some point. I added that bit between Spider-man and Black Cat to play off their history. In contrast, in this case, Black Cat also helped push Spidey to Spider-Woman, showing in the comics that while she does care and wants Peter back, she ultimately wants him happy with whoever he's with after maturing some.
Thank you to all who have read and waited for an update on this story, and who do you think will be the final bosses of this story for it made or not be who you expect it to be?
