Super's eye twitched in clear annoyance, but he said nothing. Sonic sighed. Right he needed to not get Super upset if he could help it; they wanted his help after all. "So I'll get straight to the point. I want your help."

Super's annoyed look faltered for a moment. Surprise flashed over his face before it was quickly covered back up with annoyance. "Oh really?"

"Yes, really. Look I get it sounds crazy…" Sonic trailed off before sighing.

"You're right it does sound crazy. I know that we didn't get hit hard enough in the head for you to suddenly forget what I've done." Super leaned forward. "So why do you think asking for my help with anything is a good idea?"

Sonic shrugged. "Because working together can help both of us." He leaned back, using his hands to keep himself stable. "It's not a forever truce, just a temporary thing. We both wanna beat Eggman so why not help each other out?"

"Hate to break it to you hero but I wanna do a little more than beat that coward." Super bared his teeth. "He doesn't get to try and control me and live."

Sonic hummed. He could… maybe work with this. Sure he'd have to get Super to pull back on the wanting to kill Eggman, but at least Sonic now knew for sure that Super didn't like the doctor. "Ok, but why would you need to kill him? Take it from someone who's beaten Eggman more times than I can remember. It's way more fun to see him all defeated after he loses."

"There's no way I'm going to let that coward slip through my fingers again." Super growled, flexing his claws. "The next time I see him will be the last."

"Yeah but then it's one and done, and you can never feel the excitement of fighting him again." Sonic tried, that did seem to get Super's attention if only a little. Sonic though was very quickly realizing that he maybe didn't know Super well enough to attempt this. It wouldn't stop him from continuing to try though. "Plus now that you know what he can do we can take steps to avoid it. I'm sure Tails can figure something out to help prevent Eggman from trying to control you again."

Super scoffed. "I don't need any of the fox's gadgets. I can stop him from doing anything myself. He won't surprise me this time." He glared at Sonic. "And I don't need your help to destroy him. The way I see it you're the one who needs help; which means I have all the power here." Super shot him a smug look.

After a moment Sonic nodded. "I guess. I won't lie. We're in a bit of a hard spot and it would be nice to deal with Eggman sooner rather than later, but we can always wait." Super's face fell slightly. "Eventually the others will be feeling better and we can go take care of Eggman then." Sonic stated with forced nonchalance as he waved a hand around. "I probably won't even have to go if we waited actually. Then I wouldn't have to worry about you." He looked away. Hopefully this was working.

He could almost feel Super considering the situation. Heck maybe he could feel it, since they were connected in a way and all. "Say I do agree to this." Super started and Sonic looked back at him, an uninterested look on his face. "Not that I am yet!" He pointed a clawed finger at Sonic as he bared his teeth. "But if I did, how would you even know you could trust me? I could just take over and leave. All it would take is one chaos control and your stupid little friends would have to hunt me down again."

Sonic leaned forward and rested his chin on his hands. "I thought you'd jump at the opportunity for me to let you out willingly." Sonic rose a brow at the other hedgehog. "Any reason why you're trying to convince me against this? Cause if you really were just planning to take advantage of this chance and run I don't think you'd want to tell me that was even a thing you'd do." The golden hedgehog simply glared at him. Sonic sighed and closed his eyes. "Look, don't get me wrong. I don't trust you. Like at all." He opened one eye to peer at Super. "But I do know that you're capable of self control and that's good enough for me right now." He opened his other eye to stare directly at Super. "Tails wouldn't have been able to talk you down if there wasn't more to you then you let on."

"The runt got lucky that I was tired and weakened from your stupid friends." Super growled. "Otherwise his pleas wouldn't have done anything."

"Sure, sure." Sonic waved a hand dismissively. "If that's what you want people to think."

"It is. Cause it's the truth." Super frowned.

"What happens if I say I don't believe you?" Sonic rose a brow questioningly as he sat up straight again.

"I'd tell you you're dumber than I thought." Super glared as he looked Sonic up and down. "What's your angle, hedgehog?"

"My angle? My angle is to get your help to stop Eggman before he does anything else." Sonic shrugged. He shot the other a confident look. "Is it working?"

Super crossed his arms and frowned. "No."

Sonic hummed. "What would it take for me to convince you? That's, you know, reasonable."

A small smirk formed on Super's face. "I don't suppose unrestricted use of your body is on the table?"

"Yeah that's gonna be a hard pass from me." Sonic shook his head. "I said reasonable. That is about as far from reasonable as you can get."

"Then there's nothing you can give me that I want. Which means we're done here." Super's eyes narrowed.

"I feel like you should know by now I'm not one to give up so easily." Sonic returned the look. "Look, I'm giving you a chance to get back at Eggman. It's pretty unlikely you'll get a shot like this ever again."

Super tilted his head and pinned his ears against his head. "That sounds like a threat hedgehog ." Super stood up and looked down at Sonic.

With a sigh Sonic pushed himself up into a standing position as well. He hadn't really wanted things to come to fighting. Things would have been a lot easier if Sonic had just managed to convince Super to help, but maybe he could get through to the other this way. If Super would only respond to violence then Sonic would have to try speaking his language. "Not necessarily." Sonic began stretching like he had before their last fight. "Just a statement."

"Why don't you just leave now, before things get bad for you." Super growled as he flexed his claws and slipped into a better stance for a fight.

"Well one, I don't actually know how to do that. Heck I don't even really know how I got here to talk to you." Sonic stopped his stretching to look at Super. "And two, I still haven't convinced you to help me."

"It's your funeral then hero." Super growled out before he vanished. Sonic blinked in surprise before he felt Super collide with his back. He was thrown to the ground but quickly tucked into a spin dash and rolled away from Super, getting back up several feet away from him. Chaos control huh? The other hedgehog was certainly getting better at it.

Sonic smirked and curled into a ball again. He rushed towards Super who stood his ground and caught the spin dash as Sonic launched it at him. Sonic could feel himself slowly pushing Super back though and eventually he managed to unbalance him and send Super crashing into the ground. Uncurling himself he skidded a few feet back and watched as Super pulled himself up. Clearly both of them were still feeling the effects of the fight against Eggman. Sonic did wonder if any injury he took in this weird headspace place would transfer to his real body. Admittedly he hadn't really been paying much attention the first time.

Bouncing from foot to foot, Sonic waited for Super to make the next move. Growling, said hedgehog launched himself at Sonic; quickly he dodged to the side but Super reached out to grab him. The two went tumbling to the ground where they traded blows and rolled around. Clearly the two of them were tired and even though Super had started this fight it was clear his heart wasn't in it.

Kicking Super off of him Sonic got back up and moved away. If Super didn't want to fight why had he started this thing in the first place? Slowly Super stood back up as well and glared at Sonic. The hedgehog frowned as he took in the sight of Super. He was clearly unhappy, though besides when he was destroying things that seemed to be his default mood, but there seemed to be more to it then just not being in control anymore. Before Super could attempt to lunge at him again Sonic held up his hands in the gesture for a time out. To his surprise Super actually stopped. "Ok spill. What's up with you?"

"What?" Super asked, confusion momentarily overtaking the anger on his face.

"You're not all here man. Let's be honest, neither of us wanna fight right now." Sonic crossed his arms. "There's something else going on and you're trying to fight me to ignore it."

"What would you know about me?" Super spat. "You don't know anything about me."

"I know that because I do the same thing." Sonic narrowed his eyes. "I do just about anything else to ignore my problems like running or fighting Eggman. So if you're anything like me that's exactly what you're doing right now."

Super faltered and he looked away. "Shut up."

"Look when it gets real bad for me I have my friends to fall back on. Heck I wouldn't have any idea of what to do with this… whole situation- " Sonic gestured broadly around him "-if I didn't have them helping me. Granted I made some dumb decisions. Well… several but they had my back. You… don't really have anyone. I guess you can tell me if you want?"

Super's gaze snapped back up to meet Sonic's. He bared his teeth before finally speaking. "Look I'm scared alright? Is that what you wanted? For me to admit my own weakness? Which I shouldn't even have." He placed his hands on his chest as he let out a slightly hysterical laugh. "I shouldn't have feelings like being scared or other weak emotions like that. I shouldn't have wanted to listen to that stupid fox, or chaos forbid feel some sort of fondness for him. Which is probably your fault." He placed a hand on his head and squeezed his eyes shut. "I don't understand . I shouldn't feel these things. It shouldn't be possible." He looked back at Sonic. "But I do. I'm scared Eggman is going to control me again. Scared that I might not be able to break free. Scared of never being free again." He growled out as he looked Sonic dead in the eyes. The other was breathing heavily. "I don't want to feel these things. I don't need them. They only get in the way, but I can't get rid of them." Super squeezed his eyes shut again. Sonic swore he saw tears threatening to fall, but they never did. "I just want these stupid feelings to go away ."

Honestly Sonic was at a loss for what to say. Out of everything he'd been expecting that hadn't been anywhere in the realm of possibility. Hesitantly Sonic walked forward and placed a gentle hand on Super's shoulder. The other hedgehog tensed and opened his eyes to glare at Sonic. "I- thank you for telling me." Sonic started awkwardly. "Look maybe if you work with us for now Tails can help figure out what's going on with you? It would be better than trying to figure it out alone at least. We can try and figure out something that works for us then go take down Eggman. After that we can go back to being enemies or whatever. Cool?" He stepped back and held out his hand for Super to shake.

After looking between Sonic's face and hand for a few moments Super finally took it. "Fine. Only until Eggman is out of the picture. Then this little truce is over."

Sonic gave him a thumbs up. "Of course."

"Now just get out of here. Go tell your little friend you got my help or whatever." Super mumbled.

Before Sonic could say anything back he found himself blinking his eyes open as a blurry Tails came into view. "Oh! Sonic you're up. How'd it go?" The fox asked, tilting his head.

It looked like the two of them were still sitting on the ground. Sonic smirked. "I managed to get his help. It took a bit of… convincing but I did it."

Tails smiled. "I knew you could do it. Oh and while you were doing that I was thinking…" The fox trailed off for a moment. "Maybe you and Super should… train? Just for a little bit. It might take a bit of work for the two of you to actually learn how to work together. I don't think trying to figure that out while fighting Eggman is the best idea."

Sonic nodded. "Sounds like a good idea to me. That'll probably have to wait til tomorrow though. I think Super needs a uh… little time."

Tails shot him a curious look. "What did you two do?"

Sonic waved off the concern. "Not really my thing to tell. You can ask him about it I guess."

Eventually Tails nodded. "Let's head back to the shrine for now then. We can get to work tomorrow." After a sound of agreement from Sonic the two got up and began walking back. Sonic's mind drifted to Super as they walked. Things just seemed to be getting more complicated huh?
