The Invincible Spider-Man
Dimensional Apocalypse- Part Two
"Professor, what the hell happened?" asked Cyclops, a tense expression embedded on his face.
"I…I don't know," said Charles, still wondering how he was able to stand up. He looked around, only to see the X-Mansion in ruins.
"Where are the others, Scott?" asked Charles.
"I just came to and looked around, you're the first person I've found so far," replied Scott, as he stared past the dust clouds, towards what looked like a dystopian New York.
"Is it an illusion, could be Mastermind?" suggested Scott.
"No, it isn't an illusion. We need to find the others, and then we try and figure out what's going on," replied Charles.
"Can you sense the others? Ororo, Kurt, Logan?" asked Cyclops.
"I don't think I'm strong enough…. but there!" said Charles, pointing at a pile of rubble in the distance, which seemed to be moving slightly.
Scott opened up a small slit in his glasses and let out an ocular blast, destroying some of the rubble. All of a sudden, a man broke out from under the debris, who looked to be made of steel, and held someone in his arms.
"Colossus!" said Cyclops, running up to him to help.
"Are you okay, Piotr?" asked Charles.
"I'm fine. But Kitty is unconscious, I cannot wake her up," said Colossus, panting a little as Scott helped him stand up. Charles put his hand on Kitty's forehead and closed his eyes, in deep concentration.
Kitty gasped as she opened her eyes, panting heavily as she stared at everyone around her, and then at the rubble.
"What happened? I- What?" asked Kitty, completely overwhelmed.
"Any idea where Ororo and Logan are?" asked Charles.
"No, I- I can't remember what was happening. Like one second, I'm getting ice cream with Kurt and then suddenly I'm here," said Kitty, as she stared at the skyline of Manhattan.
"Wait, what happened to New York?" asked Kitty. "Please tell me I'm not the only one who sees that," she continued, pointing at it.
"I have no idea," replied Charles, a worried expression on his face.
"Professor X, is there any way you can look into our minds? And find any forgotten memories?" suggested Piotr.
"Heavens, no! I took a vow to never probe minds like that, no matter how dire the situation. If anyone could remember what happened, it must be Logan. Maybe his regeneration could help," replied Charles, as he rubbed a cut on his forehead.
"Because Logan has such good experience with lost memories," muttered Cyclops under his breath, while Kitty lightly nudged him.
Suddenly, from the other side of the rubble struck a small lightning strike. Not as large as a normal one, but just enough for someone to notice.
"That has to be Storm!" said Cyclops, as the team all held Kitty and ran through all of the wood and concrete, directly to the other side.
On the other side was a completely blue, demon-looking creature, standing next to a man wearing what looked like yellow and blue spandex-like armour. Next to them was a woman with white hair and a tiara, and her eyes seemed to be completely white.
"Kurt, Ororo!" said Cyclops as he rushed up to them.
"Gee, thanks," scoffed Wolverine towards Cyclops, as he retracted his claws back within his knuckles and walked up to Professor Xavier.
"Logan. Do you remember anything before all of…this?" asked Charles.
"Fragments. Which is more than what Nightcrawler and Storm remember," he replied. "There was another Earth, in the sky," he continued, in a gruff voice.
"If that were the case then the weather patterns would have changed, I should have been able to sense it," said Storm.
"Whatever the answer may be, I do not think we will find it here. Whoever knows what truly happened is most likely over there," said Nightcrawler, pointing to Manhattan.
"That doesn't look like Manhattan. At all," replied Kitty.
"Scott, is the X-Jet still here?" asked Charles, while Scott pulled up a display on his visor.
"Seems like the basement is untouched by whatever happened. Yep, it's still there," he said.
"I think it's time we pay a visit to a few friends," replied Charles.
Peter opened his eyes with difficulty, as every part of him seemed to be paralyzed. After a while, he managed to move his arms as he struggled to get up from the floor. His Spider-Sense seemed to be tingling but ever so slightly.
"What…the…" he groaned, as he pressed his temple, before looking around. He was in a grey, damp room, seemingly made of concrete though it looked like the roof would cave in at any second.
He got to his feet, only to realize his suit seemed to be badly torn.
"What the hell happened-WHOA!" he exclaimed as his Spider-Sense acted up. Peter quickly moved his head backwards, as an escrima stick flew past his face and to the wall.
He turned around, only to see a familiar figure dressed in red and black, along with a horned cowl.
"Daredevil?" asked Peter, as he squinted in the darkness. "Is that you?"
"You're not Peter Parker," said another voice from the shadows to his left, one that Peter didn't recognize. In front of him walked out Daredevil, in a much more tactical red and black suit. From Peter's left walked out a figure dressed in a white hood and cloak, and a moon insignia on his chest.
"You're Moon Knight, aren't you?" asked Peter. "How do you know who I am?"
Moon Knight threw a moon shaped dagger at Spider-Man, who just barely dodged it.
"Hey!" he exclaimed, as he shot a web at Moon Knight, who managed to grab it at the last second, rendering it useless.
"That's enough! Who are you?" said Matt, turning to Peter.
"Matt, it's me. Peter!" reasoned Spider-Man.
"He's not our Peter. He's probably one of them," said Moon Knight.
"One of who?" asked Spider-Man, utterly confused.
"Were you with Tony Stark and Reed Richards?" asked Matt. "Before we found you?"
"I…I think so. We were working on…something, I can't remember. But it involved the world, the whole world," said Peter. "Where is everyone else?"
"Tony and Reed were taken. We managed to find you. Your other comrades ended up at the old Sanctum. No idea what happened to them," replied Moon Knight.
"Hold on, taken? By who? And what "old Sanctum?"" asked Peter.
"They were taken by the Empire. Obviously because the Empire can't have doppelgangers of themselves running around," replied Matt. "The old Sanctum is where Stephen Strange used to live,"
"The Empire? You're not making any sense," replied Peter, while Moon Knight scoffed.
"I don't know where you're from, but you had it better than our world. I'm guessing the Avengers didn't turn into a fascist regime on your world," he replied scornfully.
"My world?" asked Peter, as it all came back to him. "Oh my God, I think when we synchronized the frequencies, our Earths merged," said Peter. "On my world the Avengers are heroes. On yours…"
"They were heroes," replied Daredevil, with a sorrow look.
All of a sudden, the trio heard a massive whoosh, as someone jumped in through the skylight. A man wearing a long black coat, sunglasses and an ebony sword.
"He's here. He's around here," said the man.
"Blade? Is that you?" asked Spider-Man, while Blade looked back at Peter, puzzles entirely.
"We'll explain everything later. Who's here?" asked Daredevil, when all of a sudden he stopped. Matt seemed to be concentrated his hearing, as his eyes went wide.
"Shit. It's Vision," said Daredevil, as he began to breathe faster. "Get everyone to the car, now!"
Moon Knight nodded as he gestured for Peter to follow him and Blade.
"Hold on, Vision? The android?" asked Peter in confusion as they finally made their way out of the dilapidated room. As soon as they walked out into the sunlight, Peter's Spider-Sense tingled as he instinctively looked up at the sky.
A red, green and gold blur seemed to zoom above in the sky, making multiple rounds.
"More like the Terminator. Everyone get inside, now!" replied Blade, as the other three entered, with Blade at the wheel.
"Will one of you please explain everything that's been happening?!" exclaimed Peter, unable to grasp the situation.
"Our Earths merged due to some meddling by our…more fascist Avengers! Now Vision up there is going to kill us all, no questions asked, unless we get back to our place," replied Moon Knight.
"So what are you guys, like a resistance or something?" asked Spider-Man.
"Sort of," replied Daredevil, as he extended a handshake, which Peter reluctantly reciprocated.
"Welcome to the Midnight Suns."
The X-Men made their way to Manhattan, which seemed to be entirely empty, other than dust and rubble covered streets. Around them were billboards with the Avengers logo, but graffiti was spray-painted all over them.
"Free Us? Lies? What happened here?" asked Cyclops, reading the graffiti.
"I sense this is not our New York. But rather a perversion," said Charles, still getting used to walking.
"Yeah. It reeks of death here," said Wolverine, his claws at the ready, as the team walked up to the entrance of the Baxter Building.
The Baxter Building seemed to look even taller, with a massive spire on top of it. Instead of its normal blue colour, it almost resembled a massive black and brown tower, and it was missing the iconic "4" logo.
"Professor, are you sure this is the Baxter Building?" asked Nightcrawler.
"Honestly, I'm not sure. Kurt, could you teleport inside?" suggested Charles. "I'd ask Kitty as well but she doesn't seem up for it at the moment," he continued, as Kitty weakly nodded, leaning onto Colossus shoulder.
Nightcrawler stepped back, as the stench of brimstone began to invade everyone's nostrils. In a red and black burst of matter, Nightcrawler disappeared.
"AAAAAAAHH!" yelled Kurt, from inside the building. Within a second, he came flying out from the wall, tumbling onto Wolverine.
"Kurt! Are you alright?" asked Storm, rushing up to him.
"Mutant detected. Eliminating threat," said a robotic voice from inside. "Calling V-I-5-I-0-N,"
"It was some sort of electric field, I couldn't tell…" said Kurt, as he stood up coughing.
All of a sudden, the team heard a massive whoosh, as something landed a few meters behind them.
They turned around and saw a red, gold and green android staring back at them, a yellow cape flapping in the wind. Its eyes were red.
"Is that the Vision?" asked Cyclops.
"Hmph, ironic," chuckled Wolverine towards Cyclops as he extended his adamantium claws.
"Logan, wait!" said Charles, but Wolverine lunged at Vision. However, he just went straight through him, almost as if Vision wasn't even there.
"What the-" stuttered Logan, before Vision let out a massive energy pulse from his forehead, knocking Wolverine off of his feet.
"He's shifting his density!" exclaimed Charles, as Cyclops fired an optical blast towards Vision, who countered with his own energy blast.
Both of them seemed to be locked in place, one trying to overpower the other with energy blasts.
"I can't…hold him…much longer!" exclaimed Cyclops.
"I got him!" shouted Colossus, as he rushed towards Vision from the back to knock him down. However, Vision simply shifted his density again, causing Colossus to fall straight through and get hit by Cyclops' beam.
"Nightcrawler, get behind Vision. He can't shift his density if he won't see you coming," said Charles, establishing a neural link between him and the other X-Men. Nightcrawler disappeared again, and reappeared directly on top of Vision.
Kurt wrapped his tail around Vision's neck and pulled him down, while Scott finally managed to hit Vision straight in the chest with an optical blast.
Vision staggered back, but note before grabbing Nightcrawler's tail and throwing him towards Charles.
"WOAH!" exclaimed Charles, but Kitty managed to hold on to his hand, sharing her power so that Nightcrawler would harmlessly fall through Charles without injuring him.
"Storm, create a mini hurricane! Logan and Scott, immobilize his limbs. Nightcrawler, land on his head like you did before and Colossus, I need you to punch out his circuitry. It should be around his head," said Charles, as Kitty held onto him in case any debris hit him.'
"Got it!" said Cyclops, as Storm flew up into the air, her irises disappearing as the skies turned grey. Rain began to fall heavily, as Vision seemed to get disoriented.
Wolverine stabbed both his claws into Vision's calves, while Cyclops managed to blast him down to the front. Nightcrawler then teleported onto Vision's back and wrapped his tail around his neck, managing to restrain him.
Colossus rushed up to Vision and punched him straight in the head, punching it off cleanly.
Ororo stopped the hurricane and came back to the ground, while Charles and Kitty walked out from the rubble. Vision's disconnected head was lying on the ground, while Wolverine pulled his claws out of the android's back.
"Something's not right. That was too easy," said Logan, as he began sniffing the air.
That's when they heard clapping from above, as someone began descending from the sky.
"Impressive. You put up a better fight than the rest," said the man. He was wearing an all grey armour which still looked like spandex, and he was wearing what seemed like a metal helmet on his head, revealing only his lower jaw.
"And who are you supposed to be?" asked Wolverine, his claws at the ready.
The man took his helmet off, shocking everyone there.
It was Reed Richards, with a massive scar across his left eye.
"Reed?" asked Professor Xavier, while Reed chuckled. That's when the sound of ringing metal was heard, as Vision's head began to vibrate. In almost an instant, his head jumped back onto its body, and shot an energy blast straight to the ground, knocking out all of the X-Men.
"I have the mutants. Anyone left?" asked Reed into his wristwatch.
"Just the spider and the sorcerer. And maybe a few other wingdings from their universe," said a voce.
"Fair enough, Stark. I'll send Vision to round up the rest," replied Reed.
"So, the Avengers basically broke bad?" asked Peter.
"Pretty much. One second Stark is a genius, billionaire, whatever. The next he and his posse are tyrannical dictators," replied Moon Knight.
"But why? What would cause such a change that Captain America of all people would join him?" asked Peter again.
"We don't know. Something happened off-world, that completely changed them. When they got back, it's like they began enforcing their own regime around the world," replied Daredevil, as the four of them made their way to a round table made up of rock, inside a cave.
"Around the world? You're telling me no one tried to stop them?" asked Peter.
"Oh they did, but they all "disappeared." Carol Danvers was the first to go, followed by Luke Cage, Stephen Strange, etc," explained Blade. "Then they turned towards mutants, eliminating as many as they could, including our universe's X-Men,"
"So the entire world is like this? Completely hopeless and desolate?"
"For the most part. Manhattan was the first to be declared a No Man's Land. Followed swiftly by almost all of the USA, Europe and Asia," replied Moon Knight, as he pulled out a map and placed it on the table.
"Vision's been making rounds more frequently the last few hours. Which means he's still looking for some of your pals, yourself included. Your Fantastic Four and some of the Avengers tried fighting him but were defeated and taken by the Maker. I don't know about any others that came with you," said Daredevil.
"The Maker?" asked Peter.
"Our Reed Richards. Sadly enough, the Fantastic Four accompanied the Avengers when they went to space that day," explained Blade.
Just then, they heard the revving of a motorcycle engine, as a man wearing a leather jacket rode in on a massive motorcycle, which seemed to be on fire. He turned around and faced Spider-Man. One thing that stood out was that he didn't have a face, but rather a skull on fire.
"Ghost Rider?" asked Spider-Man. Ghost Rider nodded.
"Guessing this is another one of their guys. Not ours," said Ghost Rider. "Speaking of which, I-"
"Wow, Batcave much?" asked a voice, as someone stepped out from behind Ghost Rider. He was wearing a red and black suit, and-
"Skip the introduction, will you Shadow Strike? It's me, Deadpool!" said Deadpool, as he walked up to Spider-Man and gave him a hug.
"Man, I've missed this bromance," said Wade.
"You're here too?" asked Peter in confusion.
"Not just me. A $%^& ton of others also made it through and god #$%^&* dammit I'm censored again," replied Deadpool.
"Who? Who all made it through?" asked Spider-Man.
"Your X-Men. But they were captured as well," said Ghost Rider. "I found Deadpool here wandering around singing,"
"Strangely that's believable," said Spider-Man.
"Okay, so what's our plan of attack? An Ocean's Eleven heist?" asked Deadpool.
Blade cleared his throat and walked up to the map, pointing at the Baxter Building on it.
"That's where your guys are going to be. Our first move should be to break them out. We'll think of the rest later," said Blade.
"That's where the Baxter Building is, right?" asked Spider-Man.
"It's no longer the Baxter Building. It's a symbol of the tyranny the Avengers have brought upon us these last few years. It also holds a gateway to an extra-dimensional prison," said Moon Knight.
"The Negative Zone," replied Ghost Rider. "According to our source, that's where they've been keeping their political prisoners, anyone critical of them, and other heroes too which they didn't murder,"
"After that, we need to find your Stephen Strange. Vision's still making his rounds faster than ever, and if they get a hold of Strange it's safe to assume you won't be able to go back anytime soon. Strange is key to untangling this mess," replied Matt.
"Hold on, we're not just going to leave you here without taking down your Avengers!" protested Peter.
"That's cute. We'll talk about that once we get your friends out," replied Blade. "Now, the only issue is getting into the Baxter Building," said Blade.
"Maybe Steven could help," suggested Moon Knight.
"Who's Steven?" asked Peter.
"One of Moon Knight's personalities," replied Daredevil.
"He's a billionaire, so maybe he could show up and suggest donating resources or something to the Avengers?" asked Moon Knight.
"That could work. You'll be in the Baxter Building then," said Blade. "Peter, other than us, no one from our Avengers knows who you are under the mask. Maybe you could accompany Steven?" he suggested.
"I could try. Wait a minute, how'd you know who I am?" asked Peter.
Ghost Rider, who had turned back into Johnny B laze, hesitated for a second. "You were a part of us,"
Peter's eyes went wide. "Wait, your Peter Parker was also a part of the Midnight Suns?" he asked.
"It's a story for another day. For now, I suggest we split into two groups. Peter, Steven and I will focus on getting everyone out of the Baxter Building. Johnny, Deadpool and Blade will try and find Strange," said Matt.
"So it's a plan. We better start moving the plot forwards," said Deadpool.
Logan came to in a dark room, but he wasn't the only one.
"Looks like Sleeping Beauty is finally awake," said Tony Stark, as he stood handcuffed on the other side of the room. Sitting beside him were the rest of the Avengers and the Fantastic Four, including Reed.
"Weren't you just…attacking us…?" asked Logan, as he stared at Mr Fantastic.
"It wasn't him. This is our Mr Fantastic," replied Kitty.
"Our?" asked Logan.
"We're in an alternate dimension. One where we went cuckoo in the head apparently," replied Hawkeye, an exhausted look on his face.
"And where are we?" asked Logan.
"Behind enemy lines, that's for sure," replied Captain America, who seemed to still have some hope.
"So you guys met my counterpart?" asked Reed to the X-Men.
"Yep. He's a real fun fella," said Cyclops.
Just then, a door opened to everyone's right, letting in a wave of light.
"So, our guests are finally awake!" said a familiar voice, as Tony Stark walked in. Except this Tony also had a scar stretching from his neck to his clavicle, and his eyes reflected a soul of evil.
"Oh great, a Walmart version of me too," scoffed Tony.
"On your feet, let's move out," said another person from behind Tony. Hawkeye walked out, but he was wearing an eye patch. He looked at the imprisoned Hawkeye and chuckled.
"Look at you. It's like looking at a weaker, more disappointing version of me," he chuckled, while the imprisoned Hawkeye rolled his eyes.
"Who are all of you?" asked Steve, a determined look on his face.
"Why don't you follow us and find out?" asked Tony, as he gestured for them to follow him. Begrudgingly, Steve began to follow him, while the others walked behind Steve.
They walked out of the door and were met with bright lights. Once their eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness, they found themselves in the main hall of the Baxter Building.
"We, are the ones who could actually make a change," said another voice, as Captain America, in a red and black uniform walked out from the second floor. Behind him was the Wasp, but she also had a scar running down her face.
That's when Sue Storm walked out from a second entrance behind them, followed by Human Torch and The Maker.
"We are The Cabal."
And there you go! That's part 2 of this crossover, I hope you enjoyed!
Sorry for the MASSIVE delay, I got super caught up with irl stuff lmao. But rest assured I'm going to *try* and upload more frequently, definitely gonna try at least once every 2 weeks! In other news I celebrated 100 days with my girlfriend, and had a pretty good spring break! The Batman was an absolute masterpiece and I truly can't express how much I love it. Moon Knight episode 1 was really good, and Morbius comes out this weekend. Since this is still a Spider-Man story, I gotta say I'm not a big fan of what Sony is doing with Morbius, especially concerning the leaks. But we'll see!
vfc15650- I actually did take inspiration from Hickman's Secret Wars, as well a storyline from the Ultimate Comics I can't really recall. But I hope you enjoy it!
Fate-Be Changed- You'll find out soon enough!
Marvel Nerd- Ahahahaha indeed!
SpideyXBC- Maybe so, you never know.
Geek4Life- Yepp
Teller-Story- Possibly, yes!
