The Invincible Spider-Man

Chapter 93- A New Day

Peter suddenly felt dizzy, as the sides of his eyes went dark. He quickly regained composure, his eyeballs darting back and forth across the hallway, avoiding eye contact with Mary Jane.

"Earth to Peter!" said MJ, snapping her fingers in front of him. He rapidly blinked his eyes and was brought back to reality.

"You're Spider-Man, aren't you?" she asked again.

"W-What?! MJ, are you high?" asked Peter. MJ gave him a stern look.

"You don't need to lie to me, Pete. I'm not going to shoot you or anything," she said. Peter covered his face with both his hands and groaned. He took her hand and began to walk behind the building.

"You're not going to murder me or something, are you?" she asked jokingly.

"Okay, what's making you ask this question?" she asked.

"Well for one, the scars on your chest I noticed when we were… nevermind, and your constant disappearing acts. Plus, Spider-Man knew my name when he saved me from that psycho Hammerhead. Also, ever since high school, you've conveniently been getting the best pictures of Spider-Man for the Bugle," explained MJ.

Peter massaged his forehead, sighing heavily.

"Well, are you Spider-Man or not?" she asked. Peter lightly nodded, and began to unbutton his shirt.

"Slow down there tiger…oh," started MJ, as Peter showed her the Spider-Man costume he wore underneath his shirt.

"Holy shit you're seriously Spider-Man," gasped MJ, looking back at a perplexed Peter.

"You figured it out, why are you so surprised?" he asked.

"I wasn't entirely sure! Oh my God, holy mother of God," gasped MJ.

"Okay, breathe. There's a lot I have to fill you in on," replied Peter, as the two of them began to walk.

"Start from the beginning. How can you like, thwip-thwip?" asked MJ.

"Well, our school had a field trip to Oscorp, and I was bitten by a radioactive spider. I realized I had the proportional strength and speed of one, and I designed the web shooters myself," explained Peter.

"So the webs don't come out of you?" she asked, sitting on a bench.

"Nope, it's actually a synthetic polymer I came up with," he replied.

"And how do you stick to walls?" she prodded.

"Reed Richards and I figured out that I can manipulate the Van der Waals forces in the bio-electrostatic field around me so that I can-"

"Speak English," interrupted MJ.

"I can manipulate the electrostatic field around me, causing me to stick to stuff. I always thought it was because of microscopic claws on my fingers," chuckled Peter.

MJ's jaw hung agape, as if the shock still hadn't completely washed over her.

"Well?" asked Peter.

"It's just a lot to take in. You're Spider-Man. You're the guy who's been going around New York for the past 6 years, taking down all those people. And almost getting taken down yourself," she remarked.

"Mary Jane, I know we just started our…well, I guess our "more than friends" relationship. But I need you to be honest with me. Is it going to be too much?" asked Peter, a serious expression on his face.

"Peter, I know you can handle yourself. You've been doing this for years now. Obviously I'm going to worry if something happens, but I know you're not made out of glass," she replied.

Peter sighed, a look of relief washing over him. Just then, the police scanner in his pocket began to vibrate.

"Go get em, tiger," smiled MJ. Peter kissed her, before rushing away from the bench and behind ESU. MJ's confident expression seemed to ever so subtly change to worry as she watched Spider-Man swing away.

6 MONTHS LATER

"Hey there, Ballers! Welcome to another livestream with the one and only- HEY!" shouted the teenage woman in a purple and white tracksuit, running along a roof. She managed to jump out of the way of a ball of webbing.

"As I was saying, welcome to another Screwball livestream! And this time, we have the one and only…" exclaimed Screwball, before turning around and aiming the camera to a red and blue figure.

"SPIDER-MANNN!" she yelled. Spider-Man jumped behind her, only for Screwball to jump off of the building. Her rollerblades managed to stick to the wall of the building, and she began to run along the wall.

"Hey, that's my thing!" exclaimed Spider-Man, shooting a web at Screwball's back. However, Screwball pulled at the web, causing Peter to stumble onto the wall.

"I just tripped up Spider-Man! Oh, thanks for the donation, Wilson_Wade69!" exclaimed Screwball, jumping off of the building and using her grapnel gun to rappel onto the streets.

"Really, Deadpool?" groaned Spider-Man, swinging low as he chased Screwball, who weaved between traffic on her roller skates. She did a frontflip and grappled up to another roof, running along the edge of it.

"Screwball, there's easier ways to get internet famous! Ever heard of commentary?" asked Spider-Man. Screwball pressed a button on her shoes, causing the rollerblades to retract. All of a sudden, she charged up a jump and leaped onto a different building.

"You've got such a huge following, why don't you talk about actual issues in New York?" suggested Spider-Man, chasing after her as she continued leaping onto buildings.

"Because it won't get clicks, duh! Oh God, my chat is calling you an oldhead. L-M-A-O!" exclaimed Screwball, throwing a smoke bomb behind her.

"Hey, I'm not THAT old! Am I?" asked Spider-Man, using his Spider-Sense to navigate the smoke and figure out which way Screwball went. He emerged out of the smoke and shot a web at Screwball's foot.

"WOAH!" exclaimed Screwball, tripping and stumbling on the roof. Her phone went flying out of her hand and landed on the edge of the roof.

"Now, time to channel my inner parent and confiscate your phone," said Spider-Man, webbing up her phone and yanking it towards him.

"Yoink! Oh, hey there fans," said Spider-Man, weirdly waving to the phone. The live chat was filled with some excited as well as some angry comments.

""Give the phone back to Screwball, you narcissist"…you spelled that wrong, by the way. "I love you so much SM, please have my bab-" Okay, that's enough of that," said Spider-Man, switching off the phone and webbing up Screwball.

"You don't understand, SM! My fans deserve the best content," she groaned, trying to break out of the webbing. Spider-Man picked her up and swung her down to the police cars that had cluttered the street.

"Your fans deserve therapy, if you ask me," replied Spider-Man, handing her off to the cops.

"There you go officers, one teenage adrenaline junkie served with a side of friendly neighborhood-ism," said Spider-Man. The two officers scoffed, snatching Screwball from Spider-Man. One of them had their left hand near their gun holster as they eyed Spider-Man.

"Seems like you could use some fans…" taunted Screwball, as the officer put her in the backseat of the car, before turning to Spider-Man with a pair of handcuffs.

"Hey, woah. Last I checked, there isn't an arrest warrant for me," exclaimed Spider-Man.

"For now, cop killer," threatened the officer, before getting in the car. Spider-Man sighed and swung away, weaving through the buildings in Queens.

"It's been almost 6 months since the events with Martin Li and Hammerhead. And I still haven't visited Detective Macendale since the shooting happened…since he got shot because of me. But that wasn't me, right?" thought Spider-Man to himself, swinging to a building and taking off his mask.

"The cops all want to shoot me, Yuri won't even give me the time of day, and people are back to listening to Jameson for advice on the "Spider-Menace"" lamented Peter, staring at the skyline of Manhattan.

"Feels like just yesterday the whole world loved me. "Spider-Man: Honorary Avenger." Now, aside from maybe Stark and Deadpool, and Matt, not a single hero wants anything to do with me," he groaned, closing his eyes.

Just as he was about to drift off to sleep, his phone began to ring.

"MJ, hey!" exclaimed Peter, waking up.

"You forgot, didn't you?" asked Mary Jane.

Peter's mind shot into overdrive, as he began to run through every conversation he had had with MJ in the past 2 days.

"Dinner! At The Millennia! I got kind of held up with…you know what, but I'll be there in a bit," said Peter, putting on his mask and swinging forth to the island of Manhattan.

Peter adjusted his tie as he walked through the revolving doors of the restaurant. The ambient scent of wood sage and classical music reassured him that this place would drain his wallet, but he had promised MJ dinner.

"Uh excuse me, I have a reservation under Mr Parker," said Peter. The maitre'd escorted him to the reserved table. Peter's jaw dropped when he saw MJ's stunning black dress.

"There's the man of the hour," chuckled Mary Jane sarcastically.

"I'm so sorry MJ, I got held up with…work," said Peter, clearing his throat and lifting the glass of champagne on the table.

"Did work involve getting internet famous?" asked MJ, raising an eyebrow.

"Screwball. I'm just hoping the judge doesn't go easy on her this time, she's a real pain in the ass," sighed Peter. "Anyways, here's to 6 months of being together!"

"Here's to many more!" smiled MJ, as they clinked their glasses together, before taking a sip. She cleared her throat before meeting eyes with Peter.

"So, I've been meaning to ask. I know we don't talk about it much, but what's it like being…Spider-Man?" asked Mary Jane. Peter thought for a second, his eyes shifting from hers to the white tablecloth.

"It's…exhilarating. Amazing. Every time I put on that mask, I feel like a different person. I feel more brave, confident, new. But at the same time, every time I put on that mask, every time I fight the next Vulture or Spider-Slayer, I know there's a chance I won't make it back," said Peter, clenching his fist.

MJ placed her hand on his. "You're brave, tiger. Braver than anyone I've ever known," she said, running her thumb over his enclosed fist. He slowly opened up his palm, as if letting go of a bad memory.

"Besides me, who else knows about your secret?" she asked.

"Captain Stacy knew. Gwen knew. Norman knows, Otto knows, Eddie knows…" started Peter, drawing in a sharp breath. "And Daredevil and Deadpool know. Probably some Avengers too," said Peter. "Though it seems like they don't want anything to do with me,"

"I can't imagine. I'm so sorry, Pete. You know it doesn't matter what they think right?" asked MJ, as the waiter served them what MJ had ordered.

"Yeah, I know," replied Peter, taking a bite of the chicken.

"I'm sorry for asking today. I know I don't ask about Spider-Man stuff much, or at all, but I just…I had to know," explained MJ.

"I know, it's okay. Feels like these days you're the only one I can talk to anyway," said Peter, melancholically.

"I mean, I don't have to be," started MJ. Peter squinted at her.

"What are you getting at?" he asked.

"I really think you should talk to Harry again. It's been months and he's been doing better," replied MJ. Peter rubbed his forehead.

"I do want to contact him again, but it's been ages. I don't even know if he wants to talk to me again after everything. I mean, at least before my birthday," started Peter. Before MJ could respond, a bunch of police cars rushed past the restaurant.

Peter sighed as he looked at MJ, who had an equally bummed look on her face.

"I'll see you back at your dorm?" asked Peter. MJ nodded, and Peter got off of his chair and rushed out of the restaurant.

Peter walked into the classroom, groggy after not getting a good night's sleep. The only thing keeping him awake was the excitement of his first class in the ESU Scholar's Program. He'd met some of the students before, but he was still anxious.

The classroom was much smaller and seemed newer. There were only a handful of students, all of whom were engrossed on either their notebooks or their laptops.

Peter awkwardly set his bag down at a desk and took a seat, scanning the place.

A man with grey messy hair and a thick moustache walked in. He looked to be about sixty years old and was holding a textbook in his hand and a few pieces of chalk. Peter instantly recognized who he was.

"Miles Warren?" asked Peter, awestruck. The professor humbly smiled and took a bow.

"That's me. Good morning, students. I'm Dr Miles Warren, your teacher for this scholar's biochemistry course. And your name is?" asked Dr Warren.

"P-Peter Parker," stumbled out Peter. "I-I read your work on molecular motors and transcriptional regulation, it-it's brilliant. I mean, you're brilliant!" he continued, fanboying over him.

Dr Warren chuckled. "I'm glad to see I already have fans in my class. Now then, let's begin the first chapter," started Warren.

Peter opened his textbook, still in awe about the fact that the great Miles Warren was teaching his class.

Spider-Man swung over to Precinct 54, where Yuri had been reassigned to. He landed on the helipad, only to see Yuri smoking near the railing, completely oblivious to the fact that he had landed.

"Hey, Yuri," started Spider-Man, clearing his throat. Yuri didn't turn around, instead she continued smoking.

"Listen, I think it's time we talked. About…everything," continued Spider-Man, a little nervous. Yuri drew in a sharp breath and turned to him. The heavy bags under her eyes indicated the state she was in.

"I know the last six months have been rough, but-"

"You have no fucking idea," interrupted Yuri, dropping her cigarette to the ground, not breaking eye contact with Peter.

"Do you know what it's like to be a cop, all while people associate you with a guy who is known as a cop killer? It doesn't matter that Jason survived, they still think you had the intention to kill," replied Yuri.

"Yuri, I've told you before. My strings were being pulled by Mister Negative. You know I'd never attack an innocent person, much less detective Macendale," reasoned Peter.

"Try explaining that to them. God, my own precinct won't listen to me anymore. They talk behind my back, you know? About how I have some secret relationship with the "enemy"," sighed Yuri.

Yuri fumbled with her police badge in her hands.

"What's the point of captaining a place that thinks you're an enemy," she said out loud.

"I can't change what the rest of the NYPD thinks about me, Yuri. But you and Captain Dewolff stood by me from the beginning. Not a day goes by that I wish I was able to save Jean, but wishing about it won't change a thing," said Peter.

"Jean thought the world of you. She knew that you were the only one in this shithole of a city who genuinely wanted to do the right thing," replied Yuri, pocketing the pack of cigarettes as she stared out at the setting.

"She wanted a city free of corruption, a city where a woman could walk down the street without having to look over her shoulder every three damn seconds. A city where a man could raise a family without being crushed by unfair landlords. A city where a neighborhood block wasn't being blown up every damn day," continued Yuri, gripping the railing tightly.

"I know, Yuri. Jean was the…the best of us. All the good she did, she did it by the book. Which is why it's up to us to honour her legacy," reassured Peter.

"And this is how we honour it? My best detective is in a wheelchair, and meanwhile I can't even be half the leader she was. Whatever dream she had about this city and the NYPD, it's over," lamented Yuri, sighing and hanging her head down.

Spider-Man joined her at the railing, the two of them looking out at the rest of Manhattan as the sun set.

"Jean believed in a better tomorrow. So did George Stacy. So did his daughter. So did my uncle," said Peter. Yuri looked up to him.

"Your uncle?" she asked. Peter hesitated, but nodded.

"My uncle was…a good man. He knew the world was a shitty place, but that didn't stop him from doing the best he could to make sure my world stayed as bright as possible," said Peter, watching the sun set.

"What happened to him?" asked Yuri.

Peter sighed. "I failed him. But I choose to honour him, and everyone else I've lost, by being Spider-Man," he replied, tapping the spider emblem on his chest. "The suit isn't just for show, I like to think of it as a reminder of everyone I've ever cared about. How they would want me to keep fighting,"

Yuri nodded. "I guess we both have someone to fight for," she smiled, briefly.

"Yeah, we do," replied Spider-Man. Just then, both their police scanners went off.

"Units in the Meatpacking District, we have a…dinosaur on the loose, backup requested!" said the officer. Spider-Man and Yuri exchanged a confused look.

"A dinosaur? Could be one of those Doctor Strange's anachronisms," thought Spider-Man, swinging over to the location as he dialled a number.

"Stephen? Oh, Wong! Hey did Doctor Strange mess with time or something recently? No? Oh well, tell him I say-"

Before Peter could finish, Wong cut the call.

"Okay, so it's not Doctor Strange. Did the Fantastic Four mess with space-time again? Did Quicksilver run back in time and bring back a pet dinosaur?" theorized Peter, landing on a lamppost.

There was an orange and brown, 7 foot tall hunched creature. It had stegosaurus plates on its back, and a tail that was about 3 feet long. Its eyes were a bright green, as Peter landed in its sights.

"A human-stegosaurus?" asked Peter, in confusion. The creature ripped off a car door and threw it at Spider-Man, who dodged it with ease.

"Hey, did the Lizard give you permission to use his likeness in the first place? I didn't think so," said Spider-Man, shooting a web at the creature's mouth and kicking him in the stomach.

The creature ripped off the webbing and roared, before lashing his tail towards Spider-Man. Peter dodged the first few hits, but the tail hit him across the chest with the third swing.

"Easy there, Stegosaurus Man? Or should I call you Steggy?" suggested Peter, dodging another hit and landing a kick across his face. The creature stumbled back, but pounced on Spider-Man and pinned him down.

"Stegron? How about that?" asked Peter. The creature roared and opened his mouth. That's when Peter webbed up a metal pipe on the floor, and placed it vertically between its jaws, preventing them from closing.

"Stegron it is!" said Peter, kicking Stegron away. He grabbed him by the tail, before lifting him up and throwing him into a lamppost with sheer strength. Stegron wailed as he got back to his feet.

Peter webbed up his legs, before pulling and slamming him to the ground. He covered Stegron's entire body with layers upon layers of webbing.

"Now, it's time to test this out," thought Peter, as he reached into his utility belt and pulled out a web cartridge. He loaded it into the web shooter and shot it directly at Stegron's neck.

The web stuck to his neck, as a green liquid flowed out of the web, before evaporating. Stegron took a deep breath, as his eyes began to get heavier. Before he knew it, he was knocked out cold.

"No way, it actually works. Sleeper webs for the win!" exclaimed Spider-Man, pocketing the now empty sleeper web cartridge. He then took out a small syringe and injected it into the soft part of Stegron's neck.

"Something tells me I should analyze your DNA. Maybe this way I can backtrack and figure out who you are," thought Spider-Man, collecting Stegron's blood.

The laboratory seemed rudimentary, but at the same time it finished the job. A metal stretcher lay in the middle of the room, along with two huge tubes filled with a green fluid.

A man, wearing what looked like a black mask, shaped like a cat, walked into the room. He took a tube and a syringe, loaded with a pale yellow fluid. He injected the fluid into the tube and gently shook it around, making sure not to spill a single drop.

He then took out a test tube of blood, and with a dropper, slowly added drops of it to the yellow fluid in the test tube. Almost instantly, the fluid turned green, and the man chuckled.

He took the tube of bright green fluid, and placed the vial of blood on a test tube rack. The name of the person it belonged to was labelled on a sticker placed on the tube.

The label read: "Norman Osborn."

Stay tuned to find out who the mysterious man is, and what he wants with Norman Osborn!

And we are back! Sorry for the long hiatus! To be completely honest, I didn't have the best time writing season 6 and I did feel a little a burnt out. I wish I did better with the last season looking back, but I've learned from my mistakes and I have decided to plan the entirety of season 7 (8 whole pages)! In addition, I have decided that the story will go on till Season 10!

In short, I graduated high school and am currently enrolled in the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for my undergraduate studies in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology! I might be taking courses in Mathematics as well as Psychology, but we'll see once I start university in September! In personal news, I've been with my girlfriend for almost 18 months now, and we're gonna be doing long distance in university. I recently went on a trip with my classmates, and my God it was so much fun. On the downside, I've been having a hard mentally, but I've also been hitting the gym daily and seeing a therapist weekly, so hopefully I get better physically as well as mentally! I also FINALLY managed to get a PlayStation 5 lmao, and I've taken up swimming again.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 looks downright amazing and I love every single thing about it. I genuinely cannot wait to the play the game and I will be pre-ordering the digital deluxe edition. Across the Spider-Verse is a VISUAL MASTERPIECE AND ONE OF THE BEST LOOKING FILMS OF ALL TIME. I'm sorry I genuinely love that movie, even though I already love the first one. The Flash series finale was kind of bad and it's sad how the show ended, and the Flash movie itself was alright, nothing special. The current ASM comics are downright abysmal and I daresay that Zeb Wells is the worst Spider-Man writer of all time. I don't want to dwell on that too much as I might blow a fuse lol. I finished Barry and Succession, and holy hell were they great shows. I'm also almost at 1000 total movies watched, so I'm excited about that!
