Chapter 2
An hour has passed since the chosen students have been decided at the end of the school hours. Kagome enters her house to see her mom making dinner. "I'm home mom." Kagome calls out as she takes off her shoes in the mudroom where the other pair of shoes has been stored away. "Welcome home, dear." Her mother said as Kagome enters the kitchen. Her mother can sense that something happened. "What's the matter?" She asks gently as she sits next to her at the kitchen table.
Kagome goes into her backpack and pulls the documents. "This." She just said that one word in concern. The older woman reads the pages. "My. Kagome, when did this happen?" She asks her daughter. "This morning during homeroom."
Mrs. Higurashi nods. "Do you know who else is participating in this?"
"Shikon High." Kagome answers her question. That made Mrs. Higurashi smile sadly. "What is it?" Kagome catches the look instantly. "I should've seen this coming." The mother said to her. "So this happened before?" Kagome asks her curiously. Before her mother could say a word, a phone chimes.
Kagome digs into her pocket to pull out her phone and find nothing on her screen. "It must be my phone." Mrs. Higurashi said as she goes to her phone on the counter. She opens up the screen to see she received an email from the school. "What does it say, mom?" Kagome asks her anxiously. "The school says that Shikon High will send over you their uniform while you attend there." Mrs. Higurashi responds casually. "The document also said that one of their students is going to be your escort there." Kagome nods back. "Any idea on who it is?" Mrs. Higurashi asks her tilting her head. Kagome shrugs her shoulders instead of speaking out. Mrs. Higurashi nods. "Ok, you've been through enough for today, rest up." Kagome hugs her mom and goes upstairs.
Somewhere else in the neighborhood, Inuyasha enters his house, more like a manor. "Welcome home, master Inuyasha." An old flea demon bows to him. "Likewise, Myoga. Where's my mom?" Inuyasha asks the demon as he takes his shoes by the door. "She's out in the greenhouse." Myoga simply answers him. "Thanks." Inuyasha grabs a different pair of shoes and carries them to the backdoor. He steps onto the patio and puts on his work shoes and goes towards the greenhouse in the yard. The greenhouse is quite massive. He opens the door to see various plants being taken care of. "Mom?" He calls out to see if she's inside. "Oh Inuyasha. Welcome home." She smiles at him. Inuyasha's mom, Izayoi is so stunning in her own way. Like her son she has long hair but it's being pulled back with a pink bandana and a hair thing. Instead of silver, it's night black. Her eyes are a soft oak brown with a hint of blue eye shadow. Her lips are even in vivid red shade of blood. Her wardrobe consists of mom jeans, a yellow blouse and a blue zip up hoodie with gardening gloves on. "Could you bring in that tomato tray?" Izayoi requests her son's help. "Sure." Inuyasha finds the tray of the tomatoes and bring them to her.
"So how was school today?" Izayoi asks as she plants the tomatoes into an empty spot in the soil on the ground. "Kikyo was chosen in the Student Exchange Program." Inuyasha said to his mother with a frown. Izayoi knows fully well how much Kikyo means to him. But to her opinion, Kikyo is more than something that she can't put her finger on. "Sounds to me that you're not too thrilled about it." Izayoi said casually as she buries the roots of the tomatoes. "I'm not. I don't get it. Why would she be chosen to be exchanged?" Izayoi stands back up onto her feet. "Well my son, there are things that are not in our control. Neither of us can predict how the outcome will be." Izayoi said to him so wisely. Inuyasha sighs, knowing that she's right. "Any idea how long the program will be?" Izayoi asks him as she wipes her forehead with her handkerchief in her jeans pocket.
Inuyasha helps with the other plants that needed to be taken care at the hour. "Just the first trimester." Izayoi can tell this is getting annoying so she decides to drop the subject. Seeing that the rest of the plants have been taken care of, they get out of the greenhouse and back into the manor. "I'll be in my room." Inuyasha simply tells her and goes upstairs. Izayoi doesn't need to say anything. She knows exactly why her son does it. 'He needs to talk with her.' She said in her head.
Inuyasha enters his bedroom. He places his backpack onto his desk chair and lays onto his bed staring at the high ceiling. 'Why her? I know she's the top ten students in the school. I'm average which is fine on my part.' He sulks for awhile until his phone chimes. He turns his head to grab the phone and see that he has a text from Kikyo.
Are you still sulking?
The text on the screen shows to the guy. Inuyasha knew Kikyo would text something like that.
Pretty much. Can they pick someone to take your place? Inuyasha texts quickly.
The screen shows the three dots for a few seconds before it vanished. 'Typical. Can't think of a good answer.' Inuyasha sarcastically thought. But then a second later, a new text popped up.
No other student was worthy enough to be chosen. Sry.
Inuyasha shakes his head.
Remember the promise though right.
Text good morning and good night until the program is over.
Then a familiar scent hits his nose. "Oh great." He groans as the bedroom door slams open to reveal a guy a bit older than him. Like Inuyasha, this guy has long silvery hair to his knees, cold golden eyes. But he has elf like ears instead of Inuyasha's akita ears. But he also has a crescent moon on his forehead that his bangs partially cover. His cheeks have two magenta stripes. "Dad wants me to get you." He said to Inuyasha is cold voice. "Ok, Sesshomaru." Inuyasha growls as he puts the phone onto his nightstand and leaves the room.
Inside of an office is an older man, Toga Takahashi. "Yes, I understand how this is going." He said in a business tone. "You should know by now that this is the only way to make amends." He keeps his tone in control. "I'll let you know when I find out. Ok. Bye." He hangs up his smartphone. He sits onto his luxurious chair. "You can bring him in, Sesshomaru." He shouts to the closed door. The two boys enter the office. "I have received littler brother, father." Sesshomaru smirks as he steps aside to let Inuyasha come face to their father. "Ok, Inuyasha you want to know why I called you here." The father shows his serious side. That alone made Inuyasha automatically sit in the chair in front of the desk. "How come?" He pathetically asks.
"I've been informed about your school participating in the Student Exchange Program." Toga said to Inuyasha. "Yes. And Kikyo has been chosen to be in it." Inuyasha explains what he knows so far. Toga types something down on the laptop which projects to the wall. "That's true. I see that. But there's something missing about it." He said to his son. "Like what?" Inuyasha asks. "I guess Kikyo didn't mention about who's going to be her escort to Sakura Hills." Inuyasha smiles. "Me." He proclaims.
That made Sesshomaru snicker. "Not you, littler bro. It's going to be someone who also attends that school. You will be escorting the student that was picked from Sakura Hills." Inuyasha turns around with a growl. "Any idea who or where this student is?" He asks Sesshomaru. "Nope. Father?" Sesshomaru keeps his sight to Toga. "From what I know is where the student lives. Here." Toga types down the address. Soon enough the map shows the location between Inuyasha's house and the unknown student's address. "That student lives that close to us?" Inuyasha widens his eyes. "Which is why you're doing this." Toga said seriously. Inuyasha sighs and he places his elbows onto his knees. "When do I start?" Toga and Sesshomaru nod with a grin. "Next week." Toga answers him.
