Chapter 11

Kagome keeps a safe distance between herself and Inuyasha the moment she entered his bedroom. Being in a very spacious room, it's about three times bigger than her own back at her house. Not that she's complaining about. "Are you okay?" Kagome asks him awkwardly as she absently rubs her one arm behind her back. "I don't know. The one moment I'm fine and then I'm sick with the demonic cold that the demon within me resurfaced." Inuyasha responds in the same awkwardness. Kagome spots the empty desk chair and decides to sit on it. "Any idea how this happened?" She sighs before asking.

"I don't know. Maybe because of the claim that we're supposed to be mates might have been the cause. And that's all I can think of." Inuyasha responds calmly. At that point, Kagome was able to remember something. "Do you think it was me who zapped you last night when I ran off?" She asks him nervously. "Maybe." Was Inuyasha's only certainty. "If so. I'm so sorry. I didn't know what came over me to make me do that to you." Kagome feels so bad for what she did to him.

Inuyasha immediately senses the distress coming off from Kagome. Without wasting a second he gets out of his bed and cradles her in his arms. "Don't be. I'm the one who should apologize for not telling you about this sooner." He places his chin onto her head. Kagome couldn't help but feel protected from within his warm embrace. As such she just wraps her arms around him.

Izayoi peeks through the cracked door. Just seeing the two in such a position, she knows that they're going to be just fine. She walks back to the foyer to see Sango and Miroku waiting patiently to know about what happened. "How is it?" Sango asks her first. Izayoi just smiles. "They're just fine. However…" She keeps the façade. "What?" Miroku asks this time. "It was what Kagome did to awaken demon within Inuyasha." She gestures them to follow her to Toga's office.

Once inside, Sango and Miroku take a seat on the leather sofa. "What you don't know is that this here…" Izayoi shows the empty glass case. "…my mate Toga requested a friend of his to create a sword that would seal Inuyasha's demon instinct. So far even though the sword wasn't with him at the time, nothing happen to reawaken the instinct. But when he and Kagome are to be future mates, the instincts began to stir. And when Kagome zapped him when Inuyasha brought her back after the information about the council making their claim about the mate thing, Kagome ran out of the house. Little did we know that somehow the zap from her spiritual powers must've completely awaken the instinct. As such that's why Inuyasha's sick because of the demon within him is trying to take control." Izayoi explains to them.

"So this Student Exchange Program was just a set up by the council to make sure those two are to be together." Sango said to her. Izayoi nods. "It was the only way to find out who his actual mate was. Tell me Miroku, were there times that Inuyasha and Kikyo had any arguments?" She asks her son's friend. Miroku takes a second. "It wasn't uncommon for them to argue. I bet the security system at Shikon High would be helpful." He answers honestly.

"The security system?" Sango asks curiously. Miroku nods, "Yes. You see, Shikon is a very strict school. I take it that Kagome told you about it when she goes there." Sango realized what Kagome said to her the moment she got home from her first day. "As in, no note passing, no cheating etc to break the rules." She places her fist into her other hand's open palm. "Exactly. That's why whenever there was a fight between students, the parents are informed about it immediately." Miroku confirms it.

Then something crossed Sango's mind. "If there were such a thing, why hasn't Inuyasha and Kikyo's arguing been looked at?" She asks him and Izayoi. "It's because the council doesn't want to get involve." Toga answers the question when he enters the office. "Oh, dearest. I didn't notice that you came home so soon." Izayoi smiles as she hugs him. Toga returns the hug. "Even though Inuyasha and Kikyo were arguing, I made sure that they are taking care of personally instead of the school itself." Sango didn't see that one coming. "Ok. so, you punish him?" She asks him. Toga chuckles. "Not exactly. You see Sango, a demon isn't really punished. Being grounded wasn't going to work either. In order for him to learn his lesson is to keep the arguing going until a breaking point."

Miroku and Sango look at each other. "Did the faculty do anything about it?" Sango asks since she doesn't go to Shikon high like Miroku. "Now that you mentioned it. I never saw a single member of the faculty get involved. Were they ordered to stay out of it?" Miroku said while holding his chin. Toga nods to him. "Pretty much. I believe that the Council made it clear that the faculty is to never intervene. They take matters into their hands." He explains to the teenager." Sango looks up to him. "Have they come with a solution?" She asks him. "They did. The Student Exchange Program was the only way to go. That's why Kagome had to exchange schools with Kikyo." Toga answers her calmly.

"Were you against it or agreed to it?" Sango asks him curiously. "Even though I'm one of the two leaders of Council, normally I never really say anything about it. But when it came to my son's involvement, I had to think this thoroughly, I decided to agree with their idea." Toga answers wisely while he had his arms crossed his chest. "What are we going to do at this point?" Miroku asks him in concern. "From what we found out so far, I think it's best to let things go. Sango, you can keep a track on Kikyo and that Naraku character fellow with this." Toga hands over Sango a pin of a flower. "This pin has bult in microphone while these here…" He gives her a pair of small gold hoop earrings. "Have a video camera. I just hope they allow you to wear jewelry." Toga explains both of the top of the line equipment.

Sango looks down to the devices. "Can we have a test to make sure that these work?" She suggests to him. Toga nods silently and turns on the projector that was linked to the two items. As such the screen is clear and the voice was clear after the recording that no one knew it was working at the time. "You have my word, Toga. Let's go, Miroku." Sango said seriously to the man and leaves the house with Miroku right behind her.
